I put this off for such a long time lmao

the first Spinel dump was posted all the way back in 2020 and I started this one not long after, but then the Procreate file went untouched for a couple of years because I was preoccupied with other art projects

I didn't get to finish this one for the Steven Universe movie anniversary last year, and so the WIP file for it was just sitting there in my procreate files for a while

so I decided to finally finish this a couple of months ago but when my iPad broke, that complicated everything lmao so I had to export it as a Photoshop document so that I could finish it on Paint Tool SAI using my laptop you'll notice that a few of the Spinels in this art dump look kinda different, that's because the sketches they came from are super old and my style changed a little since then thank god I finally finished this haha :')

Just saw an opinion on Rose that’s complete trash so I’m gonna speak my piece on it, as someone who had to cut off contact with her toxic family. Steven had every right to put Rose’s picture in the Pink Dimension. While everything she did was her trying to make a better world for humanity and she never wanted Steven to go through all the trauma he did, she completely set him up for that anyway by doing everything she had done, and she’s so toxic for that and especially for having the gal to make that video saying he’d go on wonderful adventures while full well knowing that a good portion of his life would also probably have to involve dealing with her left over trauma and problems instead of fully dealing with them herself before she passed so he wouldn’t have to. She would have been better off staying Pink Diamond and just standing up to the other Diamonds imo rather than take the form of another gem (which btw led to the whole gem type being bubbled permanently which is high key so fucked up). At least if she’d done that one change of standing up as a Diamond to the others then Steven would’ve had one less accusation on his long list of war crimes committed by his mom/in his past life. Steven doesn’t need to think about his mother because she isn’t around anyway and the whole purpose of the shows and movie was explaining that it is okay for him to move on from all of the trauma of who his mother was and what she did, and to instead focus on himself and who he wants to be and what he wants to do with his life. So fuck anyone who thinks that Steven was bad for doing what he did.

OK, it's finally here! This is the fanfic i submitted to @ladylore97 for her Steven Universe: The Movie anniversary contest. I made second place for it, and I am very proud to get to share it with all of you.

This story takes place after the injector explodes and Steven saves Spinel from the impact. I have often watched this scene wondering what could have been if Connie had only waited a few more minutes to call out for Steven - how would Steven and Spinel interact? How would Spinel cope with the guilt of nearly killing Steven and then being forgiven for all of it? Well, this is my take on it. I do need to let you know that this story is as canon compliant as possible, so not a lot of shipping material here for Steven/Spinel as a romantic pairing. There is implied one-sided attraction, as I did tag it in the story. But don't worry, there will be another time for all of that shipping goodness. ;)
