Can I just say I love the way you portray Floyd. I feel like 90% of writers make him out to be this abusive monster (yandere or otherwise) and it upsets me since he's among my favorite charcters.

But you make him out to be so cute and loveable. Like yes he has a long history of violence and mood swings, but you don't use that as a way to say he's awful. You portray him as "yes when he's having an off day he might hurt you". But you don't add what a lot of yandere writers I see seem to add which is "even when he's in a better mood, he'll still blame you and berate you". No you portray him as someone who in a bad mood MIGHT hurt his shrimpy, but the moment he's back to normal he's gonna feel awful about it and want to make up for it.

He doesn't come across like a monster (most of the time) but instead like a giant puppy in love who doesn't recognize his own strength, and just loves his little shrimpy with all his heart and wants to express that in the best way he knows how. Like he genuinly wants to make his darling happy, and wants them to love him. Like Jade might find the idea of his darling faking their feelings to be amusing. But Floyd wants them to be real, he wants them to love him as much as he loves them. He doesn't want them to pretend just to avoid his wrath, he wants his shrimpy to feel happy and safe and loved in his presence. And that makes me SO happy to see.

Omg thank you so much!!!! I'm really happy you can enjoy my portrayal of yan!Floyd. I think he's such a fascinating character, especially when put in a yandere context, and I love writing for him and exploring the many facets to his personality. There's so much more to him than just "scary eel with dangerous mood swings" and I think most of the time he would be as you described: "a giant puppy in love who doesn't recognize his own strength." He has so much depth and doesn't hide much from you unless it's intentional or something he doesn't want you to know.

Floyd is so painfully honest that it can be blunt at times and he isn't one for dragging things out like Jade often does, which is why he's not one for overly complex mind games. Floyd just wants to love you without any strings attached and he wants you to reciprocate (genuinely. I think being genuine matters a lot to him). I like to imagine Floyd has all of these emotions and he feels so much, but sometimes he struggles with showing these emotions. So perhaps it results in them being translated/shown in his mood swings or things like his cuteness aggression towards you.

I could ramble forever, but I agree that he wants Shrimpy to feel safe and happy and loved with him. <3 he's the cutest. Such a sweet eel. >w<

I just came across your wonderful little community. I believe my daughter may be one of you. She always expresses delight at watching her favorite characters getting injured or ending up in a state of peril, in particular loves anything from the superhero genre for that very reason. I've never been concerned by it as I quite enjoy a bit of hurt/comfort myself.

My sister in law was recently over when my daughter was watching Tangled and asked to rewatch the stabbing part. She was horrified and we ended up having an argument after started demanding that I take her to see a therapist because it's not normal for someone to enjoy watching others suffer so much, as if despite being the sweetest, gentlest child she's about to turn into a serial killer.

Anyway, I'm glad to find there is a term for it and you lot seem like a lovely bunch.

Also your daughter has great taste because that stabbing scene in Tangled is one of the best whump scenes. I have definitely watched it on repeat may times lol.

hello!!! just wanted to send in a message that i have a meltdown every time I read one of your Jason pieces; so freaking good! its really special to find writers who can really get a feel for Jason without making him sound like a goofy caricature of a y/a trope or like. an incel LMAO. would love to see more of your thoughts or headcanons on Jason's opinion on college! i do think it’s definitely something jason’s always been interested even if his relationship with post secondary school has been fluid to say the least. sort of like: i might have a chance if i get a scholarship, to not even in school, to having a shot at going to any school, to missing out on that part of his life in favour of vigilantism and revenge

with his past briefly out of the way i definitely see jason being that person who just Attends lectures even if he isn’t enrolled. he’d go to classes with friends or someone he’s seeing if he had the time. but if anything, jason would take a course just because he finds it interesting. he’d sit in the back of the class and he 100% takes notes even if there’s no reason

if he is serious about going back to school i do stand with majority rule that he’d probably be an english/lit major.

i like to imagine jason did attempt to go to university after everything went down with bruce when he first came back though. a little scorned and confused about his place in everything. i could see him trying to play the part of someone normal and ordinary, what did people his age do again? oh yeah, go to school or leave the city.

i think he’d originally take something a bit more serious, respectable even. law, engineering, business, anything to emulate some version of himself bruce had expected jason to become. i think jason also knowing dick refused, finally agreed, then dropped out of uni would fuel him to go to spite his older brother and appease bruce even if it wasn’t conscious. like it’s an added bonus if jason really thought abt it (which he won’t ofc)

back to school: being forced to take those required liberal art courses would remind jason of what he loved in high school. he loved english class on whole and arguing with the history teacher and picked up languages surprisingly well that he did both spanish and french for a time. and while he really thought about switching majors he ultimately dropped out because he was still playing pretend and into the hands of a man his relationship was beyond complicated with.

i think jason would return when he was a few years older, a little less angry and less focused on his connection to bruce/batman. and this is when he’d major in english, im not enough of a lit baddie to pick a focus but im sure y’all can imagine <33

he’d start with night courses bc he’s already used to being awake so whats a 7-10pm lecture before patrol.

it only became an issue when courses jason’s wanted to take wouldn’t work with his nighttime plan. he started really feeling the burden of living a double life in those moments. and definitely gets antsy in class/studying when an important case is taking up his mind.

he was fortunate to take online classes that interested him greatly too but when school started becoming priority jason would have a moment with himself to decide if he wanted to spend a few years pursuing his degree with a bit more focus or go back to his life before.

and i cannot say what decision i think he’d make bc i know jason gains satisfaction from life by being red hood and cannot fully give it up but he’s also one of those people that is always dying to learn more, to know more and exercise his brain. it’s why his electives r insanely difficult mathematic courses or science labs bc everything interests him. the study of art just moves him a little more which is why he majors in it.

some other points:

- he’s not a fan of the education system and even if money is not a problem jason doesn’t rlly care abt going to elite schools and will gladly transfer around to take courses he wants or depending on where he’s currently is in the world. he’s done classes at most of gothams community colleges and at least one ivy league school

- jason’s doesn’t care how long it takes no finish school either, which works well with his vigilantism. he’s always had an unstable relationship with schooling and completing school in its expected time/format never appealed to him. jason will do it how it wants because he can :)

- he’s a handwritten notes kinda guy but understands that typing is more efficient

- will spend time at uni (and public) libraries just for funsies like he’ll b investigating new drug rings next to people studying for their midterms

- like most of us he really hates group assignments bc he’s too much of a control freak and will do all the work, hand it in and email the prof abt doing it alone without even contacting his group members bc he’s a little shit like that

- but will help in tutoring programs, be a note taker for certain courses and if jason’s fully dedicated to school he might just TA <3

Writing does take time, especially when I'm in a lazy because of heatwave mood. Nothing gets done, oops.

But I guess I can spare a tiny crumb from the next chapter:

The two walked in with confidence, as if they were about to take over your office. The woman, Leigh, had a pad in her hand and a huge binder under her other arm. The man held some small kind of measure tape and a little blue notebook.  If they were some new donors, or a company who wanted to start a program with your health center, they sure were the very first to start negotiations this way. Usually you were invited to lunch, not have it brought. People meeting you were also more reserved and polite, instead of barging in with some wacky energy.  “Lunch is from Mister Rogers, we’re just delivering since we were going to be here anyway,” said Leigh, her toothpaste-commercial grin not changing for a second. Instantly your mood dropped, your eyebrows creasing into a hostile frown.  “And why are you here?” Your tone remained calm, but you made sure displeasure in it was audible.  Steve randomly buying you lunch was a worrying problem you stored to resolve later; though you had a feeling he wouldn’t care that these nice gestures annoyed you, as they clashed with the picture of a ruthless mobster you were adamant on hating forever.  The two cheery people coming in unannounced - at the direction of Steve, undoubtedly - became the aim of your irritation and distrust at the moment.

Unrelated to that angels in Tibet was BEAUTIFUL omg everything about it was so filled with emotion and longing

I..........may have a few ideas for him. 🫣 I've been wanting to write more for him. It's a little scrambled, but the idea of Floyd being in a band and he travels and lives out of his van,,,, meeting and accidentally knocking up darling after a show.......... something something plot where your parents don't agree with Floyd's unstable lifestyle and Floyd's so not ready to settle down. For the time being, he's stuck in your city/town because he isn't going to be an ass and not help during your pregnancy (even though he sort of,,, does the bare minimum; he's learning as he goes). Plot happens and you and Floyd grow closer. You learn that Floyd actually stopped sleeping around the minute you told him you were pregnant, but you were under the impression he'd been doing it all this time.

To make a long rambling short, essentially Floyd falls in love with you over the course of the nine months and learns to be less scummy and sleazy. <3

That aside,,, THANK YOU!!!!! ⸜(｡ ˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡ I'm really happy you liked Angels in Tibet and that you could feel the emotions!!! The Luxe Couture has done irreversible damage to my brain. It's just so perfect!!! I love it..... orz

Hey! I just want to say thanks for doing the meta and recaps - you manage to get a lot of what I'm thinking down way more articulately than I manage, and right now this is basically how I'm interacting with the show at this point. I love the *ideas* that RWBY introduces - I just wish they'd done the work to follow through with a lot of them and showcase the consequences of actions taken. So, just thanks for sticking with with show and taking the time to do recaps and metas.

God yeah, that's my position exactly. RWBY has so much to offer in the way of fun concepts and characters (which is precisely why we initially got hooked on it), but continually fails when it comes to execution. Putting aside the disdain for criticism as a whole, I'm surprised that rewrites aren't more accepted in the fandom simply by virtue of RWBY having so much potential. Even if you're 100% on board with the canon, RWBY's ideas beg for transformation - far more than any one webseries, no matter how badly or well written, can possibly offer.

What if Ozpin reincarnated into someone else? What if the embargo/loss of Atlas forced our team to learn to fight without Dust? What if Ironwood's fall had been treated with more sympathy right before Ruby had her breakdown? What if we got to know what Raven was visiting Tai about? What if Blake and Yang had admitted their feelings pre-fight with Adam? What if Nora overloading her semblance had resulted in more than just scars? What if the team fell apart via a realistic reaction to seeing Ruby drink that tea?

And on, and on, I can think of a THOUSAND directions to take RWBY in - frankly far more than I tend to think up for other shows - and while yes, a great deal of that stems from being dissatisfied with what we did get, just as much is a result of the sandbox nature of the series. RWBY survives on its ideas: those that fans want to replace and supplement canon with.
