Game Live Streaming: Trends and Concerns
eSport has become more popular in the recent years since computer games are no longer entertaining means. Nowadays, eSport players can turn their interests into their career by becoming professionals to competing in international contests.  There are many prestigious tournaments accepting eSport as one of their sports, such as SEA Games. Furthermore, eSport is going to debut in the coming Olympic Asian Games 2022 with medals being awarded in eight games (Venkat 2021). Computer games not only can relieve stress, but also improve critical thinking, concentration, problem-solving and particularly making new friends having similar interests (Levy 2021). One of the ways that players use to interact with their gaming community is live streaming the matches or the entire period of playing games. During the live stream, streamers communicate with the audience by reading their comments and talking behind the desktop screen. eSport players can connect to each other, chat with their idols virtually regardless of different locations and time zones. Moreover, live streamers usually receive donations from viewers in each live streaming sessions as a thank you gift for spending long hours to communicate and sharing gaming experience with them.
Tumblr media
Computer game live streamer can earn huge income, namely Mark Fischbach’s earnings in 2018 is US$17.5 million with an average of US$1,393.41 per minute (Leskin 2019). However, health issues are considerable concerns to them. Most streamers will live stream starting from night-time until the next morning because viewers would be too busy during daytime to watch the live stream. Some serious diseases relating to staying up late are sleep disorders, heart diseases and even stroke. Thus, gamers should not consider live streaming as a long-term career despite its impressive income.

Lake found on Mars, possibilities of life increases
Tumblr media
For the first time on the planet mars, a huge underground lake has been discovered. According to this, presence of water indicates the presence of life there. In the research, published in the American Journal 'Science', the searchers claimed that the lake below the Marseans ice square is 20 kilometres wide. It is the biggest water body found on Mars.
Tumblr media
It is the first proof of the water found which is present now, before all the hints found were only the sign of presence of water. Alan Duffy, professor at Swinburne University in Australia, depicted it as a great accomplishment, and said that it gives the likelihood of ideal states of life. Prior, US space office NASA declared that the web index robot Curiosity found in 2012 on Mars discovered 3 billion-year-old natural atoms in rocks. It shows that there probably been life on this planet in that period. Read the full article

Hey guess what guys? I thought my last post was my last, but turns out I made a mistake earlier on and you got a bonus post out of me!
Tumblr media
China seems to have taken every way that you can utilise social media in business, and made it work in an extremely successful way. When you listen to Kitty Lun (DLDconference 2013) discuss how her business created a holiday called Singles Day, and made that into the world’s largest annual online sale within only a few years. This can be even be seen with the amount of companies that are now tapping into the Chinese online market such as ALDI Australia who are launching products online in China early this year (Heffernan, M 2016).
Tumblr media
38% of social media users in China make purchasing decisions based on recommendations theyv’e read on social media (Simcott, R 2014) – businesses would be stupid not to take advantage of such a consumer market. Whilst many know that the Chinese government has blocked the use of many of the social media applications that we know, you might not know that China just decided to make their own. The Chinese Government censors all content and has the right to delete any content without notice, social media users are lawfully required to register their real name on all social media applications. That’s an interesting one for me, something that I wish was applicable here because I hate seeing fake accounts on Facebook, I’m sure it is a law here somehow but it seems to happen frequently.
In 2015, it was estimated that the population of Chinese social media users was over 650 million people – that’s double the size of the US population (Jamie, 2015). Look up how many people live in Australia and just compare those statistics. Then you’ll feel the enormity of it all.
Tumblr media
The interesting thing that I found when looking into the social media applications that are available in China is that they’re all a one stop shop, they all have more than one purpose. This is something we’re starting to see with Facebook now having the Marketplace function where you can buy things, etc. but in China it’s huge, Sina’s Weibo for instance is a hybrid of Twitter & Facebook (Jamie, 2015) and then on the other hand you have applications that were traditionally used for e-commerce that are now integrating sharing functions such as Taobao's Weitao that has a feature similar to pinterest where you can share interesting products with your peers or let them know what you purchased (Flemming, S 2016). China are definitely leading the way in terms of the expansion and trends of social media.
Okay - now I’m pretty sure I can sign off, thanks for having me guys!

Digital Citizenship and Software Literacy: Instagram Filters
Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is the originally mental illness leading to digitized dysmorphia. People encountering BDD would consider themselves as an ugly, imperfect person. Given to that, digitized dysmorphia is a mental disorder that making people reveal themselves on social media platforms with flawless looks by using beauty filters or photoshops to fix their disliked body parts virtually. Moreover, beauty filters have changed the beauty standards all around the world. While they are created for the purposes of aestheticism, users are now using them to define their ideal images, especially young people. Beauty filters and photoshop programs can lower users’ self-esteem only by changing one or several parts of their bodies, such as bigger lips, bigger breasts or smaller faces. One of the consequences is the increased cosmetic surgeries lately. According to a survey of 2,069 participants by Uvence, 37% of them preferred their filtered faces to their real faces (Norton & Best 2021).
Tumblr media
Furthermore, social media users’ self-images have been changed because they tend to bump into million-view videos and photos with very aesthetic themes and beautiful influencers. However, they did not know that it is because of the algorithm suggesting those based on their interests. An example is that TikTok was discovered instructing moderators not to promote content from viewers with “ugly facial looks”, particularly ones having “abnormal body shape”, “too many wrinkles,” “obvious facial scars” and “facial deformities” (Yaseen 2021). Besides, influencers on social media certainly show their best angles to the camera to be more attractive, but they are still human beings who absolutely have special traits on the body. I would like to emphasize that I use the words “special traits” rather than “imperfection” or “ugly parts” because there are no such beauty standards describing them as flaws.
