My friend posted this on Facebook. Of course I immediately thought of you and thought I’d share.

When I’m dead, my obituary will say “She allowed Scully to strip, and because of that, we’ll never view swizzle sticks the same way again.”  And I’m 100% okay with that.

Try this quick little project to get comfortable with working with fire and glass!

You’ll need these materials (all in your flamework skillset):

  • propane gas can
  • torch
  • sparker
  • glass rods
  • marshmallows & skewers (optional but recommended)
  • plaster-coated metal rod

Make sure you have all your materials at hand and that your working area is good to go:

  • well-ventilated
  • heat-resistant surface
  • no kids or pets around
  • nothing flammable close by
  • comfortable for working

Be safe. Work with a buddy. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby.

And, make sure you and anyone close by is wearing safety glasses!

Turn the knob on the torch counter-clockwise all the way to turn on the gas.

Hold the sparker in one hand. Squeeze the handle at the tip of the torch to create a spark. It might take a couple tries to get it to ignite.

…by roasting a marshmallow!

Well, you could try burning a lot of things, but a marshmallow on a skewer is a good place to start.

Play with it until you feel comfortable working around the flame.
