Thinking about the blue sword boys and the fact that even though they were one of the first alliances in the entire series the three of them never teamed up together with only two of them ever teaming up and the third being an enemy.
In 3rd life Grian was serving Scar and was opposing Martyn and BigB of the red army
In last life Grian and Martyn were teamed up as the southlanders with BigB in the fairies of the castle alliance (hilariously Martyn then betrayed the southlanders to join BigB and become the shadow alliance)
In double life Grian and BigB were secret soulmates with Martyn joining Ren (the guy BigB was cheating on) and Pearl to become the broken hearts club. Grian and BigB were part of the red team and Martyn the yellow team.
In limited life after Grian lost his bad boys he joined BigB's alliance of the nosy neighbours who were enemies of the Mean Gills, Martyn's alliance (not 100% sure I haven't finished watching the finale)
Somehow it was only until secret life that the three of their paths (at least in terms of actually being allies/enemies) never crossed which hilariously means that this alliance has a more convincing "bound by faith" narrative than desert duo, renchanting or box boys (not to throw any hate to them I LOVE those duos don't worry)
Something also needs to be said about how back in 3rd life BigB was the ONLY one to still use a diamond sword with Grian switching to a netherite sword (he no longer uses diamond, he's no longer by their side but he's still the same Grian from day one, a Grian who still loves BigB) and Martyn a diamond axe (he's still blue, he's still by BigB's side but their dynamic has changed into something unrecognisable, no longer two blue boys but rather a hand and a soldier in a brutal war).
I just think there's a lot of untapped potential with this trio that the fandom is sleeping on.

Anne was known to have a taste for the finer things in life. One of her favorite arguments in response to those who said such a love for materialism was incompatible with being a Christian was to quote a work of French theology, L'Ecclesiaste: “Should I say for all this that it is prohibited for to be merry and that Jesu Christ hath only chosen sturdy people: seeing that He Himself hath helped at feasts? No, surely!” - Gareth Russell

They didn't speak of the North and all that had went on inside its borders.
For some reason or another it seemed akin to treason. To speak of kinder places, warmer halls, gentler people. And yet they also didn’t speak of the war, for a different reason entirely. Because it had been fought and because it had been won. By those who had not the right to hold banners, to hear the cries for their name, the cheers, and the clamours.
During those five years, King Rhaegar hadn’t mattered, and all his wives - the ones that had been and those that were yet to be - hadn’t made a difference.

Several days ago I thought about Never Love An Anchor with Leon about Hop. Influenced by when Leon starts to feel like a fraud after the Eternatus fight. I don't recommend it. It made me sad.

Kaleesh Week Day 5 - Wives
Downtime between battles leaves Vekka jai Kandakis (that is, Qy's adoptive grandmother) and her lovers with some time to spend together.
Well, without people shooting at them, anyways. (Vekks is the one in the middle, the one at her left is...maybe Rallia? And idk the name of the one sitting below her, but I'll call her Mechanist for now)
Vekka jai Kandakis! I think I've spoken on Qy's grandmother once before, but she's a a bit different in the weird little AU I've got going on for Kalee. For one, she's fighting the Yam'rii, not the Bitthævrians (though the Bitthævrians are on the Yam'rii's side, and inter-planetary politics, etc. etc.), and she's more or less, the victor, driving them off of Kalee for...well, at least a little while (eventually, they get trickier, then come back at about the time Qy is born). So how does that happen? And who the heck is Kandakis anyways? She was born the heir to the jai clan, back before the jai clan was a big deal (that actually could probably be attributed to her more than anyone else), and most of the Kaleesh alliances were formed. Kalee was under attack and the Yam'rii were, by all accounts, winning. When she's in her late teens, her father is killed in a largely unwinnable battle and she takes on leadership of the clan. Haunted by his death, which she had been there to see, the already intense young khan starts a relentless, terrifyingly well-planned campaign against the Yam'rii and does what no one one had managed yet-- to win. And then win again. With each success, narrow as they often were, other clans started to turn to the jai for leadership in the chaos and atrocity of this invasion, forming the first kolkpravis. With the diplomatic bonds, however, came the need for generals, and with generals came, for the first time in Kandakis' life, comrades. Some of whom, like the two women in the image above, she loved.
Tumblr media
As more and more of Kalee came together (excepting some isolationists, such as Aschal-Kalee, home of the San clan), the khan--now khagan--'s victories continued, and they managed to push the insectoid colonists from their base on the equator of the planet, and into their last and largest stronghold Ti'rrinoa in one of the small islands between the southern Tarili islands and Grendaju to the south. This, at last, earned the khagan the name she is best known by-- Kandakis, or, "favored one", as the intervention of the dead was said to have played no small role in her ability to re-take almost all of Kalee, and moreover with no losses among her spouses and closest generals. Yet this was soon to change. The kolkpravis mounts its first assault on Ti'rrinoa, yet this time, the Yam'rii had prepared, and, sending a desperate message to their homeworld, secured a small star destroyer from the Republic which fires upon the Kaleesh forces. The loss of life is immense, and includes, not just one but all of Kandakis' spouses. She has known grief-- known it many times before, but not in this magnitude. When she looks up at the sky and sees not the stars, but the ship that stole her lovers' lives, she vows, quietly, below her breath. to burn the entire stronghold to the ground. The plan, in some ways, is simple. She surrenders herself to the Yam'rii, knowing well that they will bring her before their leaders on their homeworld for execution-- from a shuttle that departs from the destroyer above. If she looses her bonds-- and she does-- she can fight her way to the bridge and, should the gods grant her this one last favor, send the entire ship crashing into the stronghold below. It's an act of sacrifice, yet in some ways also a rejection of her own life-- for Kandakis does not know how to start again, after the loss of those who she had loved for so many years. And yet-- the gods grant her one more favor than she wanted, asked for-- she survives. Rising from the wreckage, she rejects the role of khagan, the aftermath of the war, even her name, for Kandakis seems but a cruel joke after all she has endured. Instead, she takes the name Kull-- the Kaleesh term for the dead that wander, unable to reach their kin in the stars--and returns to the steppes she had once grown up on, hoping to find some solace in their stark beauty. Instead, she meets a young Kaleesh, angry at the world, and far, far too eager to be a part of the ashes of her life.
Tumblr media
(Also, tagging @zyanova-- I know you mentioned you'd be interested in hearing more about Kandakis and I am late but it is here at last Hope you enjoy it!)

Hello dear librarian!! I have found SO many amazing fics through this blog - I hope you can help me find one again! Essentially, sword lesbians of A/C, no matter the tags I try, can't find it! They use Aziraphale's sword for some sexy role-playing, post apocalypse, in Crowley's flat. Im sorry I can't remember much more - TIA!!
Hi. Could this be the fic you’re looking for?...
You Create Me Against Your Thighs by lavendermermaid (E)
Crowley stood and circled in front of her. They wore black stilettos, maybe four inches, and towered over Aziraphale. Her eyes traced up and down the demon’s form - she hadn’t seen, earlier, what Crowley planned to wear - and landed right where Crowley thought they would. Crowley smirked.
They tutted scoldingly. The sword found Aziraphale’s chin and tilted her face up. “My eyes are up here, angel.” Crowley couldn’t help wondering, if another demon actually did manage to capture Aziraphale, how they would resist her big, round eyes looking up through those thick lashes.
Or: The flaming sword mysteriously arrives at the bookshop; Aziraphale & Crowley roleplay that Crowley has captured Aziraphale and uses the sword for sexy threatening purposes

Mormont's head was still in his lap, but his eyes were open and staring and his lips no longer moved. The raven cocked its head and squawked, then looked up at Sam. "Corn?" Samwell  II-PG 459
Jeor Mormont is dead, Craster's surviving wives assign Sam to take Gilly to the Wall, and Mormont's Raven wants corn.
I have mixed feelings about this one. I think the composition of the three wives standing over Sam is sound in principle. But if this was not a half-hour sketch challenge, I would have done several more thumbnails to get it right.

This got so big in my notes app I had to split it into several notes.
Below the jump: I asked myself two questions and they changed the world (of Warcraft). Also, and this isn't relevant for several thousand more words, card games are very important to elves.
The household wards pulsed gently, a feeling of belonging just in the back of her mind, the Estate welcoming one of the family home. Brigade General Vereesa Windrunner, Ranger Lord of the army of Silvermoon, Meritorious Order of the Unconquered Sun (with cluster), et cetera, sighed and stood up from her desk. "Thank you, everyone. Let's call it there and we'll pick up in the morning."
If her abruptness gave any of the headquarters staff pause, they didn't show it, tossing off less-than-parade salutes and shuffling their reports, maps, scrying stones, and assorted paraphernalia back into order and taking their leave. Doubtlessly most of them would find their way to the kitchens, or the barracks mess if the Estate's cook told them off for pilfering the pantry. For her part, Vereesa left the charts and files in their working order on her desk for later, heading down the corridor and toward the east foyer, closest to the stables. Her house slippers further softened her light steps, allowing her to make it down the stairs undetected, and she stopped just shy of the foot of the stair to observe, for once, without being observed.
General Sylvanas Windrunner (inactive), former Ranger-General of the armies of Quel'Thalas, Meritorious Order of the Unconquered Sun (with cluster and braid), Banner of Thas'alah, Crimson Star (with sunburst, multiple), et cetera, was still pulling her boots off in the entryway, the jacket of her undress uniform open and her saddlebags dumped beside her. A dusty riding cloak was draped over a rack where the steward could collect it for laundering with the rest of the linens. Sitting on the bench, hauling her riding boots off and rubbing at her calves where her breeches had wrinkled under them, Sylvanas was still the very picture of a Farstrider officer, just not the sort of pictures that went up on recruitment posters. She was road-worn, slightly dirty, armed to the teeth, clearly fatigued, and perfectly capable of carrying on for another three days with a fight at the end: a ranger true in Ranger blue.
Vereesa took the last few stairs more heavily, announcing herself before she stepped into the foyer. The long ears of the old campaigner on the bench flicked toward her, and Sylvanas cast a glance over her shoulder as she fished around for slippers that fit. She favored the open, sandal type, and was having some trouble, bent forward to root under the bench, making a pair. Vereesa had always preferred the closed-heeled type, feeling that they looked marginally less ridiculous with her uniform.
"How was your trip?"
She shrugged, a neat trick in that position. "A long ride with a few short stops. Sharpshooters and master sharpshooters have been certified and sent back to their units. Silvermoon is still strange. The outposts I visited are in good repair. Personnel levels are adequate. Runestones are secure, from what I saw. Patrols could be a little more imaginative, but that's the dividend peace pays, I guess." Straightening up from the bench, she threw her saddlebags over one shoulder and strode into the house proper. Annoyingly, the slippers barely marred the effect.
Vereesa perforce followed after her, determined to take the rare opportunity to have an actual conversation with her sister. "All in your report, I suppose?" Catching up, she guided them into the quiet of the east den, cool and shaded this far into the afternoon.
If Sylvanas realized her intentions, she at least didn't fight, allowing herself to be steered. She shrugged again. "As usual."
"Sylvanas, I get reports like that all the time, in much more depth. I could read your reports if that's what I wanted. I'm asking you about the rest of it."
Rather than answer the original question, her sister blinked down at her, dressed for the workday in a fuller and finer version of the uniform they shared, and flicked her ears. "It still astonishes me that you're a Ranger Lord."
"And yet I'm not at all surprised that you've managed to avoid that honor yet again, despite the obvious advantages to having you in that room."
"I've no patience for politics anymore-- me as a Ranger Lord would be a complete disaster. The Conclave would ban me from speaking in chambers. I'd drive everyone around me to madness or sedition and drink myself insensible."
"There was a time when your manners and maneuvers in chambers were the equal to your skill in the field. The marvel of the court." She put one hand on her hip and cocked it, ears forward and eyebrows raised. A challenge, and a very deliberate one at that.
Sylvanas shifted her stance enough to cross her arms without losing the saddlebags from off her shoulder. Blank-faced, ears neutral: a wall. "And there was a time when your impulsiveness and impertinence were its despair. Times change. Even people do, eventually."

You're doing fanart for one of my concepts again?! For that, a funny scene from the Undead AU. While the whole thing is in the area between dark and melancholic, the gender reveal is pretty fun: Gerudo town is rumored to be magically impossible to enter for men but it's unclear how. Link and Zelda are sprinting towards it, Link gets in no problem. Zelda runs face-first into a barrior. (The Gerudo guards are amused and now know why the princess was never with the queen during diplomatic visits.)
(Image description in alt and under cut)

Image Description: a five panel comic of a legend of Zelda au.
Panel one: The Hero of Wings, a young child with blond hair, blue eyes, green scarf, and the Master Sword stands on a sandy plane, swings the sword and says "There's another wave coming, Highness, we need to make a break for it!"
The Royal Heir of Hyrule, a brunet teenager wearing a ragged off-white dress with a half skirt, trousers, and boots, draws back an arrow on a golden bow, and says "you're right, but-"
The Hero interrupts and says "Run!"
Panel two: the Hero and Heir run across the sand, the Heir says "The closest cover is Gerudo Town,"
Panel three: two armored Gerudo guards in front of a doorway with a blue barrier. The Heir's words continue, "and men can't go in!"
Panel four: the Hero smiles, and says "oh, that'd ok!" while the Heir says "and the thing is,"
Both of them say at the same time: "I've been wanting to try new pronouns!"
Panel five: now inside the barrier, the Hero turns, and starts to say "wait -"
The Heir slams into the barrier and drops the bow with an "oof" as the guard watches.
End image description.

tetanus fact: it's an old wives' tale that tetanus is caused by rusty metal. it's actually caused by puncture wounds substantially deeper than they are wide, which introduce ubiquitous anaerobic spores (i.e. the "seeds" of single-celled organisms which cannot grow if exposed to oxygen) into a warm, poorly-oxygenated space in the body. so receiving shallow cuts from a rusty knife is not likely to give you tetanus but puncture wounds from clean but non-sterile objects can. this is great news if you like receiving superficial wounds from rusty knives and blades and swords all over your dumbass body
