Was Carmy waiting to exhale?

When Syd shows up at the restaurant, Carmy looks relieved that Syd is there. If you look at Carmy, he deeply exhaled as if he had been holding his breath for a long time.

Did Carmy deeply exhale because he was excited to show Syd that he had brought down the wall? Maybe, but I think that after he did not show up at Kasama, he felt guilty and his fear of Syd leaving again kicked in so he was holding his breath thinking that Syd would leave. When Syd shows up, he finally exhaled because he was so relieved that she did not decide to leave after he was no show at Kasama.

rewatching season one of the bear before i hop into the new season and i love in episode eight after carmy has woken up from his all eyes on you daytime TV cooking show, snarling bear camera operator, guilt ridden fever of a nightmare and he's hyperventilating it just wordlessly shows his stacks on stacks of cooking books and then flashes select images of different dishes as he goes through them one by one, like he's picturing them in his mind. it's just soooooo good, hammers home this familiarity he has with them, the comfort and routine of it all, to just ground himself and calm the fuck down
