Alright screw it, full list of Kirby crossover Overwatch skin ideas:
Kirby Echo. Hard to explain how it looks with words but it works in my head.
King Dedede Reinhardt. In my heart this one is the Mythic skin of this bunch with variants for unmasked, the classic Masked Dedede mask, and the Forgo Dedede mask.
Meta Knight Genji. Not much explaining needed I think.
Bandana Waddle Dee Tracer. I didn't have any better ideas for either end of this pairing, but like. again it works in my head.
Whispy Woods Bastion. I swapped my ideas for Orisa and Bastion back and forth, but figured Ganymede dressed as the small Kirby bird of your choice would make more sense. Plus, Orisa already has a nature-themed skin.
Paint Roller Lucio. I think this is a fan favorite obscure miniboss, plus it'd be a fun different look for a Lucio skin.
Nightmare Sigma. With every idea for group skins I keep casting Sigma as the ultimate big bad, but like... c'mon it works too well here. The Hyperspheres are the ball form.
Rick Wrecking Ball. hamter.
Dark Matter Swordsman Soldier 76. mouthful, yikes. I actually had a list of notes I decided to check partway through making this post, and I forgot about this one. I think the idea was the visor? Could be cool I think.
Marx Junkrat. funny little guy who chucks exploding balls. Could do a fun detail with his prosthetics looking like pieces of Nova.
Heavy Lobster Orisa. Favorite obscure Kirby boss that never shows up in a series full of recurring bosses. Definitely a skin nobody besides me consciously wants.
Mr. Frosty/Chef Kawasaki Roadhog. Hard to pick between these two iconic midbosses, but I very much only see either design working as like, an edgy slasher villain parody of the original when on Roadhog.
Adeline Brigitte. Flail is the paintbrush. That's all the justification I need to say.
Ripple Queen Mei. Definitely a more obscure character to prioritize but the idea won't leave my brain, I think it'd look too cute to pass up. Also yes: Snowball is Ribbon.
Dark Meta Knight Reaper. ow the edge.
Daroach Cassidy. Hat. Though would also consider Ashe, if only just for the sake of Storro B.O.B.
Drawcia Moira. I mean Moira throws around blobs and sprays of bright colors around, it works. Plus I think this'd be a fun look for her that's not too out of place stylistically.
Necrodeus Doomfist. Felt bad not having a Mass Attack reference of any kind for some reason (even though I don't have an Epic Yarn character here and that's my favorite spinoff). This was the best pairing of "cool bad guy" matching that I had left, but I mean I think it'd look cool.
Magolor Zenyatta. Silly floating man with his orbs and mysterious past.
Landia Pharah. Another niche one but it looks sick in my head. Was also considering giving her Dyna Blade.
Taranza Lifeweaver. Okay explaining this one: sad pretty boy with trauma and a flower motif. Plus they both use grabby magic to yoink people. Works with how average Rein players feel about Life Grip.
Queen Sectonia Symmetra. I wanted to have Sectonia somewhere and by process of elimination this is the idea I like the best. Not explicitly meant for a SymWeaver thing but hey that works too. the inverse height dynamic between the pairings feels wrong though...
Susie D.va. This is another obvious one, little pink bitches with big mechs, little pew pews, trauma, and room for me to project onto.
Haltmann Torbjorn. Another one from my notes I completely forgot about. But like. Yeah no it still checks out.
Francisca Junker Queen. A guilty pleasure choice aside from the shared blue hair and axes.
Flamberge Illari. Listen the brain blast I had when I realized "burny powers and also her gun looks like a weird sword." Plus they both scream an above average amount.
Zan Partizanne Widowmaker. It'd be a crime if she wasn't one of the most canonically french Kirby characters.
Hyness/Void Termina Ramattra. I don't know the exact logistics of how this works but in the abstract concept in my head this looks awesome.
Gorimondo Winston. monke.
Yeah that's the list! Everybody besides Mercy, Hanzo, Zarya, Ana, Sombra, Ashe, Baptiste, Sojourn, and Kiriko got one. Also no Mauga... or Venture... or Space Ranger... look this list was from a while ago, plus none of these are even out yet so sue me. (actually had a few ideas for Mercy, but none of them felt really satisfying. Favorite idea for her was using Forgotten Land's final boss mostly because of the silhouette being... more similar than you'd think at first.) Also I got at least part of each of the dream friends besides Gooey, but like. Literally what Overwatch character reminds anyone in any way of Gooey. Be honest with me here.

like okay. first of all i have to say that nostalgia is a brutal beast but i am right about this - new overwatch character design fucking sucks sometimes and i can show it very simply with one hero.
Tumblr media
so like. what the fuck. did they do to him. cassidy baby what did they DO to you
the previous design had so so so much character. i mean look at that. he looks ROUGH. he looks like he's seen some shit. he doesn't look DIRTY by any means, but he looks real. every part of his character design evokes a cowboy, which is what he's SUPPOSED to evoke! they took the archetype and they put it into every little inch of his design and by god are they not sorry about it.
his shawl is iconic in how ripped it is - it is something old and loved and impractical, and he still carries it with him. the gold tones add warmth and are clearly a fashion statement, with the addition of his stupid (/affectionate) belt. his singular kneepad is a funny nod to the fact he rolls forward in game on one knee. he's loudly and proudly a very stereotypical cowboy and his design takes joy in that!!! he takes joy in that!!!!
his figure as well looks more bulky and built on actual core strength rather than the "8-pack but still super skinny" type shit you see so often.
the second one.... just fucking destroys all that made the first design charming. his weird little pants turned into pieces of well-crafted armor. they cut his hair and pointed his beard - the entire silhouette of his head changed to something much more angular and sharp. his warm, desaturated colors that implied a level of warmth and sunbleach are all saturated and In Your Face.
they gave him fake armor abs (and took away the funny blue nipple things that were the subject of many a joke). his boots look less like something he's been wearing for years and more like something built for combat. in trying to make him sexier and more appealing, they completely removed what made him appealing in the first place.
to be clear, i don't blame the design team for this. i know any blizzard employee has to fight like hell to do anything good. and some designs DEFINITELY did improve with overwatch 2. symmetra's redesign is fantastic, for example!!! it feels so much more like her!!! mercy's new skin is also fantastic, adding an air of maturity to her. but idk what the hell the direction was with this, but whoever ordered this fucked it up, and the old design is infinitely better.

My internet is bad today so a lot of icons didn't load, BUT when your comic loaded before without an icon I immediately knew it was yours, without even looking at profile name.
Wanna know why?
Because 'small feat' joke had the same vibes as your Symmetra series. Like Junkrat somhow being smexy after a shower for example. It just screamed to me "Oh Tanuki did that".
Somehow your brand of humor just braned itself in my brain.
The highest honor I can achieve, having my shitposts be automatically recognizable. Thank you 💕

can i ask for symmetra for the niche ask game?
Tumblr media
a song that reminds me of them: Love Lore 2 by Deerhoof
what they smell like: A lot of people say she doesn't smell like anything but there's actually a very mild, light freesia scent.
an otp: Symmarah!! <3
a notp: Symmrat but I don't dislike it as much as I used to.
favorite platonic/familial relationships: The Zen + Symm friendship is the single most important lore drop in Overwatch. But also I love the Autism/ADHD solidarity she clearly has with Lifeweaver. In my fics I also like giving her a good rapport with Hanzo as well.
a headcanon that is popular in the fandom but that i disagree with: People will just completely ignore her autism and act like she's basically this cookie cutter 'gay icon mean girl' like "omg she's so cuntyyyy" like no man she gets sensory overload in crowds, she hates idiomatic language, she has growing interior conflict as she becomes more disillusioned about Vishkar, and she's trying really hard to put some good in the world, actually.
the position they sleep in: Side-sleeper on her organic shoulder, sleeps with her arms close to her chest.
a crossover au i’d love to see them in: The reason why she doesn't have a StarWatch skin is because she would have eaten everyone else up and even blown Sigma's mythic skin out of the water. She would be so powerful as a sexy alien queen or like that opera singer from The Fifth Element. Let her into the Space Opera, Blizzard, it's her destiny.
my favorite outfit they’ve ever worn: Oasis skin is such a showstopper but I also really love Magician and Art Deco.

Overwatch 2 Symmetra Legendary Skin Spotted in Hero Gallery
Tumblr media
A new Overwatch 2 Symmetra legendary skin looks to be available, however the Blizzard FPS game hasn't yet put it up for sale. Since Overwatch was reimagined as a free game, replacing its loot box model with premium-priced skins and an Overwatch 2 battle pass, there hasn't been a shortage of discussion surrounding the character skins in Overwatch 2. In light of the fact that players will have to pay if they don't want to spend hours grinding to unlock the tank for themselves before he appears in Overwatch 2 competitive play, there have been worries raised that the new Overwatch 2 hero Ramattra dangerously approaches a "pay to win" paradigm. The other big question around Overwatch 2’s new model remains: will Blizzard stand by its premium pricing of 1900 Overwatch Coins for a legendary skin and 1000 for an epic? At $9.99 USD or £8.39 GBP per 1000 coins, fans are wondering whether paying close to twenty dollars for a skin is worth the value of a free-to-play environment. This has been raised once again after players spotted a new Overwatch 2 Symmetra skin called Art Deco present in the hero gallery. The skin gives the Indian DPS hero a rather stylish black and gold dress, complete with matching boots, a redesign to her prosthetic arm, and a snazzy new hairdo. It joins a Cyber Dragon Hanzo legendary skin featuring a horned, demonic black and yellow look for the archer, and a Prideful Reinhardt epic skin themed in green and white with a lion mask. All three skins look rather dramatic – but they continue to cause concerns over pricing. Most comments focus on the cost of the skins rather than their designs, with players admitting that they like the looks but that the cost is too high. Speaking to the cheapest of the three, one says that “The Rein skin is honestly pretty dope. I’m not gonna buy it though.” Another jokes about the Symmetra cosmetic, calling it “The roaring 20$.” Another says, “I actually love it but man.” The Hanzo skin comes in a bundle including a player icon, voice line, and spray for the same 1900 coin price, offering marginally more value. Of course, the players who are upset are likely to be the most vocal; if prices don’t change, that suggests there are plenty of players who are quietly buying the skins and continuing to play the game. Many fans say they recognise that this model falls somewhat in line with pricing in other recent free-to-play games including the likes of Fortnite and Apex Legends, but express that they’d love a way to actually earn a meaningful amount of in-game currency by playing the game. The Art Deco Symmetra skin has also sparked debate over what makes a skin ‘legendary’ – with some players complaining that it feels too close to her default look. Others note that, while the silhouette may be comparable, almost every part is a new art asset. Her dress has a similar form at the front but looks very different from behind, her boots are a new shape, and her hairstyle has an overhaul. Personally I’m a big fan of her new look – though I’m not sure I’m willing to pull my wallet out for it. Time will tell if players do, however. As the Overwatch 2 season two release date gets ever nearer, keep an eye on our Overwatch 2 tier list so you know the best characters to play in the multiplayer game. Meanwhile, the first season of Overwatch League on the new game wrapped up over the weekend, crowning the Dallas Fuel as the first Overwatch 2 champions but leaving fans convinced that Sojourn is OP in the current meta. If you’re looking to step your game up, ensuring you’re using the best Overwatch 2 settings is an oft-overlooked way to do so. Read the full article

playing a bit of the ow2 beta with my friends and so far all we’ve done is check out some of the new maps, but so far i can already say circuit royal is gorgeous
god, i really hope ow2 helps me get back the love i used to have for this game. i still love the characters so much but i never even managed to get the combat medic baptiste skin because both times it was available, i just did not feel like playing enough games to get it. i haven’t kept up with comics or anything in ages, i barely kept up with ow2 news beyond the official reveal and i’m very skeptical of some things in the beta already even with just having looked at maps (i... do not like that there’s a scoreboard, for example, i know they’re common in shooters but they’re one of many things i dislike about most shooters because people are toxic enough lol) but i also really wanna go in with an open mind and just hope that if i do feel the same love for ow2 that i once did for 1, it lasts a little longer. especially since this time there hopefully won’t also be a world-shattering pandemic that kills all my motivation in general right around the same time the game starts getting stale lmao. would also love to learn how to play symmetra again at some point since i haven’t actually been good with her in a long time.
also if i’m gonna start being active here again i’m really gonna need a new icon lol i still have a winter one and it’s almost may, whoops

Need to do another chart or something of what OW heroes do and don't have a corresponding map (either for country of origin, character-specific connection, or both), and what maps lack any corresponding heroes.
For instance, you could consider Mei's map for a long time to be Lijang Tower since it's from her home country, but she doesn't have any specific ties to it besides it being China. On the other hand, she's not from Antarctica, but her story is much more heavily tied to Antarctic Peninsula and Ecopoint Antarctica.
Moira is an interesting case because her "home" map is meant to be Oasis, but she's not from Iraq. There's also no Ireland map as of now, so it's a weird sort of mismatch. There's also no Netherlands map, but Horizon Lunar Colony works well enough as Sigma's map in lieu of anything more specific.
I may also count maps as fitting a hero if they have any sort of important tangential connection, such as Dorado being the setting of Soldier 76's cinematic.
The reason I thought about this is because I once again noticed Ilios is one of the game's most iconic maps, yet there's never been a Greek hero. Because Lucio was without a Brazil map until recently, people would joke that Ilios is his map anyways since. Yknow. Hole.
We HAVE seen heroes be added for countries that had a map, but no corresponding hero, most recently of course being Lifeweaver, finally giving the arcade-only Thailand map Ayuttaya a hero to call its own. Before that was Orisa, finally giving a character to call the unique locale of Numbani home a while after the game's initial launch.
Whether it's heroes before maps, maps before heroes, or one without the other, it's definitely the kind of niche thing I love to hyperanalyze. The most productive possible use this could help achieve is to possibly predict some future maps (shoot, we know maps very specifically for Symmetra and Torbjorn are on the way, just delayed because 2CP sucks and they're figuring something else out for them right now) or heroes (not the first to say that Colesseo and Esperanca are hella sus, and I won't be the last). But really I think if I don't make or edit some kind of arbitrary list or chart of information for 48 hours then my body stops making blood or something, so frankly this is just normal.

Overwatch Actress Anjali Bhimani Talks Symmetra, D&D, and Making Art For Herself
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/overwatch-actress-anjali-bhimani-talks-symmetra-dd-and-making-art-for-herself/
Overwatch Actress Anjali Bhimani Talks Symmetra, D&D, and Making Art For Herself
Tumblr media
From theater productions on and off Broadway to TV shows like Ms. Marvel, actress Anjali Bhimani has done a bit of everything, but readers of Game Informer most likely recognize her work voice acting in video games. She’s best known as Symmetra in Overwatch, which is a game role many young voice actors would strive their entire careers to get. Bhimani lucked out; it was the first time she ever acted in a game.
“All I knew is I’m doing the new game for Blizzard,” Bhimani says. “And I knew that Blizzard was, you know, no slouch. They’ve done a lot of really cool things before, so chances were this was gonna be really cool. But I had no idea. I don’t think anyone really did.”
Tumblr media
Symmetra in Overwatch
While Symmetra was originally crafted by a room of writers, Bhimani does say there was an element of collaboration between her and the creative team as they figured out Symmetra’s voice. She likened it to her time in theater – the early sessions spent building the character were like a rehearsal period. Months later, when the game launched, it was like opening night.
The rest is history. Overwatch became a huge success, thanks in large part to its colorful cast of now-iconic characters voiced by excellent voice talent. Bhimani found a lot of success in this niche, but why did it take her two decades to enter the scene in the first place?
“I was a gamer from a very early age,” she recalls. “And then there was a period of time that I refer to as ‘the dark days of gaming’ when I was like, ‘I should be more serious and not into games.’ I don’t know why I ever did that.”
Overwatch’s reception from its newfound massive community encouraged Bhimani to engage with the medium in earnest again. Since then, she’s been able to appear in all sorts of games, including Apex Legends (where she plays Rampart) and NPCs in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Starfield, and Diablo IV.
Tumblr media
Bhimani volunteers to roll during an episode of Candela Obscura
This re-entry into the world of games wasn’t limited to the screen, however. After encountering Critical Role stars Matt Mercer and Marisha Ray at an Overwatch meetup, Bhimani professed her love for Dungeons & Dragons, which she’d played as a child. She did a rundown of her history for me, as well.
“My brother, in one of his many moments of genius, gifted me a basic set when I was eight, and I fell in love with it,” she tells me. “So I did the first, like, solo adventure in the book. And I was like, ‘Wait, that’s it? I need more. I want to do more.’ So I bogarted his second edition books, devoured them, [and] started playing with friends in school. And that was pretty much that; it was it off to the races, you know? We would play as often as we could.”
Post-high school it was harder for her to find a group, especially in an era where the game wasn’t as mainstream as it is now. But upon meeting and befriending Mercer and Ray, Bhimani had found a group to play with again, eventually collaborating with them years later. Her return to tabletop RPGs was just like her return to video games in two ways: she returned as a performer, doing actual play one-shots and miniseries, and now that she was back, she wondered why she ever stopped playing in the first place.
After a few years playing at tables for both Critical Role and Dimension 20, two of the biggest D&D shows out there, Bhimani and some colleagues made the move to start their own show: DesiQuest. It’s a simple concept: a story set in a South Asian-inspired fantasy world told by an entirely South Asian cast. Bhimani says she first heard the pitch from Jasmine Bhullar, a dungeon master in the space, years before the project was formally in the works.
“When I first met Jasmine, we were doing a one-shot for Critical Role, and she said, […] ‘You know, getting to play with another Indian person is so rare. I really wish that we could sit at the table with all Indian people and do something like that.’ I was like, ‘Dude, sign me up.'” Unfortunately, the pandemic hit, and the project was put on hold. A few years later, she was contacted by producers Sandeep Parikh and Anand Shah to see if she would be interested in joining the project. “They were starting to pitch it to me,” Bhimani laughs. “And I was like, ‘Oh, I said yes to this years ago before you got involved, like yeah, let’s go.'”
All of these recent projects create a bit of a theme with Bhimani’s recent career, and it’s one she’s well aware of. She says in recent years, she’s learned to ask herself, “Hey, are you creating art just because it’s what other people want, or are you creating what you want to be creating?”
“It’s a weird conundrum to be,” she continues. “There’s this weird paradox. Because on one hand, you have to create things that you want to create, regardless of what other people think. But on the other hand, you also want to create things that people are actually going to see and take in and enjoy.
“I think the inspiration to create something is so pure, and [you should find] a way to make sure that, while you are making it for other people, you are not molding it into a shape just because you think that’s what they want to see.”
