Senki Zesshou Symphogear XV. I have finished it at last. I'm kinda tearing up rn cause I didn't think it was gonna be this influential on me. It just. Hits me. Hits me in a place where i didn't think I'd be hit again. Knowing this is the final season makes me sad, but at least it went out singing

Miku and Finé are two sides of the same coin imo
Miku and Finé both create the inciting incidents that cause the story. They both play the role of the villain corrupted by the love for the hero. Finé becomes a lot easier to understand when you imagine that she went through the same things Miku did.

As much as i get it can be annoying to say "dad character" or "mom character"
Genjuro really is pretty clearly a positive paternal figure in Hibikis life:
So a quick tangent on Hibikis dad
Hibikis dad is a super inconsequential character all things considered, saint germaine has way more moments of geniune respect and understanding with hibiki than her own dad. Thats the point id say
Hibikis arc in season 3 with her dad serves more to give depth to her, and her dad is really nothing much for the story aside from his redemptive moments in the final few episodes.
I do also appreciate that while the finale having her mom and dad start again, which is very optimistic and also a bit unrealistic but fits the tone. By season 5 when we see him again its handled in a more real way.
Hibiki is melancholic about her mom and dad being still mostly apart, and her dad really also doesnt contribute much aside from the usual hes done, gives her a phrase that helps her get through things.
Back to Genjuro, Hibiki looks extremely happy whenever she gets to train with him, she eagerly jumps at the opportunity to spar with him, adopts some of his phrases and moves.
And Genjuro really respects her, they have a mutual understanding through the whole show.
Season 2, when they argue before going to save Miku. How he says "adults who wont support what kids wanna do are uncool" not an exact quote but yknow.
With other characters, like Chris in season 1, when he talks about what the responsibilities of an adult are.
And finally in season 5 in a big parallel to season 2 hes telling Hibiki to not go out to try anything but Hibiki insists on saving Miku, but the argument is much more brief really really brief. By that point, they have reached a mutual understanding.
Genjuro to begin with has a lot of things in common with Hibiki, how brash they are, how they jump into stupidly dangerous situations to save others.
And yet another moment paralleling earlier seasons, Shem-Ha pulls on Hibiki the same move Finé pulled on Genjuro in season 1, and it works too!
In conclusion, Genjuro is the dad that stepped up.

FINISHED Symphogear G. Was hype. Was strange at points, but I like it. Also, Kirika and Shirabe are great. Interesting love confession too lol. Consider me addicted I guess

I think Symphogear ended at a really good spot and they shouldn’t make any more seasons because I like when things have a beginning and an end. HOWEVER. I think there should be One (1) movie. I don’t care what the plot is. But it should be wild, over the top, have a couple of insane scenes to rival the space shuttle suplex, and MOST importantly
There should be a scene, preferably close to the beginning. Hibiki and Miku are out doing something together, at a cafe or something. Then the Conflict starts, and while people are fleeing, Miku briefly grabs Hibiki’s hand before she can run towards the chaos. Hibiki looks back at Miku. At first, you think perhaps that Miku is going to ask Hibiki not to go and fight like she has in previous series conflicts.
But Miku just gives her that soft, loving smile with just a tinge of sadness and exasperation. She whispers something along the lines of “I know you have to. It’s what I love so much about you.” Hibiki smiles really big back at her, squeezing her hand.
Then they kiss. It’s extremely casual, Hibiki just leans in to give Miku the quickest “see you in a minute” peck on the lips, and then runs off to fight. Neither of them overreact to this. It should be Immensely clear to everyone watching that this is not the first time they have kissed, that they got together somewhere off screen and they’re now just an Established Relationship.
The rest of the movie has absolutely nothing to do with their romantic relationship outside of their regular screaming each other’s names thing they like to do in every series. Absolutely nothing else should change EXCEPT maybe Chris teases them for being “lovebirds” exactly once.
This is extremely important to me. I just want it to be SO casual. Just like. Yeah, they’re an item now? Obviously? We don’t need a movie about them getting together or having relationship troubles at all that was what all 5 seasons were for.
