Here's to the systems who thought they had a certain origin, and it ended up being something different/they had multiple or mixed origins!

The ones who are multigenic, mixed origins, polygenic, etc.

Those who use xeno-origins

Individuals that have an "uncommon" origin

Beings with origins that only a handful of people have, or an origin they coined themselves

Anyone else I missed!

It's ok to be wrong, and it's ok to change your mind! Never, ever let someone's thoughtless or unkind words deter you from change; change is nature, and nature is change. You are a facet (perhaps literally, for some!) of a bigger whole, and you are worth more than the sum of your parts. You are allowed to have personal growth!

Here’s some positivity for systems who don’t use -genic or other origins labels!

ALL systems are beautiful, valid, and integral members of the plural community. Not every system will use or benefit from -genic or other origin labels, and that’s okay! There is nothing wrong with accepting your system as it is, and choosing not to label how your system formed. So here’s to all the systems who don’t identify with origin labels!

🌙 Shoutout to systems who genuinely don’t know and don’t care to learn about their system’s origins!

🪐 Shoutout to systems who used to have a label for their origins, but have since abandoned or stopped using it!

⭐️ Shoutout to systems who want to just exist and be accepted as they are, without any origin labels tied to their identity!

☀️ Shoutout to systems who reject origin labels as a reclamation of power and agency in their own lives!

🌙 Shoutout to systems who are confused or troubled by -genic and/or origin labels!

🪐 Shoutout to systems who are satisfied with using the labels “system” and “plural” to describe themselves!

⭐️ Shoutout to systems who want to keep their system origins private!

☀️ Shoutout to systems with dissociative disorders who choose to define their plurality through a lense of DID, OSDD, or P-DID rather than -genic or other labels!

🌙 Shoutout to systems who hate feeling like they have to use an origin label in order to be accepted in the plural community!

🪐 Shoutout to systems who don’t use origin labels due to others using their origins as an excuse to invalidate, fakeclaim, or otherwise harm them in the past!

☀️ Shoutout to systems who find -genic labels to be unhelpful, counterproductive, or divisive for their own system or the plural community!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with choosing to reject or forego any labels that do not help or benefit you or your system. You deserve the right to define your own system and experiences with terminology that works best for you - and if -genic and origin labels don’t work, it’s okay to simply not use them! Choosing to not us these labels does not make you any less plural, or any less of a cherished and integral part of our community and spaces. In fact, your unique perspectives are a benefit to the plural community, and we are so happy to have you here!

Please do your best to treat yourself and your system with kindness, and try not to worry about what other people think of you due to your system’s choices regarding origin labels. Rest assured you will always have a special place in the plural community just the way you are, regardless of what terms you use to describe your origins! A system or a headmate that’s originated from believing, having faith or having the certainty of, itself makes it own existence, even if have faith or believe before it happens.

For example, believing that your head will generate a headmate makes your system get one, having faith that your headmate is cool makes it act cool, having certainty that your system will be modified, affect reality, and your thoughts and your own system change based on your force of belief.

ethnotraumagenic

ethnotraumagenic is a traumagenic system origin in which a system or alter formed from trauma surrounding the system's race or ethnicity. it is exclusive to systems of colour (and ethnically Jewish systems). white passing systems of colour are welcome to use it.

many types of trauma may be included under the definition of "trauma surrounding one's race or ethnicity". intergenerational trauma can be included, but doesn't have to be. other examples may include facing interpersonal or systemic violence targeted at one's race, growing up without connection to one's culture or having one's racial identity erased, feeling othered due to one's race, or living during a genocide of one's racial group.

this term was created by a pro-endo traumagenic system, but is free to be used by all systems who fit the criteria, regardless of syscourse stance. do not bring syscourse onto this post, you will be blocked.

A headmate or system that formed from a facade or created persona. This can be any kind of persona, false front, fake personality, character that was created to be played in certain situations, etc and can be used for any reason.

Its role equivalent is facade.

Being trauma-endo is… an experience

Yes, our plurality is largely caused by trauma and stress, but our non-traumagenic origins are also extremely important to us, hence using the trauma-endo label

Our system functions are so entwined with our endogenic origins; it’s impossible to separate them. Our patterns for new headmates showing up, our switches, the way headspace is; everything!

Seeing such a harsh divide between traumatic and endogenic spaces, and the animosity between them in places… it alienates us from the community a lot, even if we don’t directly interact all that much

apollogenic (1, 2) and apollonorma (3,4)

apollogenic: a system that was formed or discovered (partially or fully) due to some sort of prophecy, typically a joke. can also be used for subsystems or individual sysmates.

apollonorma: a sysmate that was formed or split due to some sort of prophecy, typically a joke. added for those who like specifics for their labels.

name comes from Apollo's gift of prophecy, which is what it reminded us of when this phenomenon kept happening again and again to our system.

examples (non-exclusive, added just so one can get a better idea of this) could be:

seeing a new sysmate in a dream before they actually form

joking about 'what if's about your system before those what ifs come true

joking about 'honorary system members' for your paras, F/Os or innerworld NPCs before they gain sentience or get introjected.

I dont know if there's an active plural term archive but it would be lovely if anyone could tag them. otherwise @radiomogai

HYPNAGOGIGENIC (hypna-gogi-genic)

Origin term for systems, headmates, etc. that appeared while/because of the hypnagogia state/the body being in the hypnagogic state.

Hypnagogia is the transitional state from wakefulness to sleep. The mind can get more creative and uncontrollable while in hypnagogia, it's quite similar to a dream. The brain generates a lot of various ideas, and sometimes can generate new headmates or new places in the headspace. Everyone experiences it, though some forget being in hypnagogia at all, just like forgetting dreams after waking up.

Here's to all the systems that formed from or were directly impacted by emotional neglect.

Neglect is defined as "a form of child abuse; child neglect is an act of caregivers that results in depriving a child of their basic needs, such as the failure to provide adequate supervision, health care, clothing, or housing, as well as other physical, emotional, social, educational, and safety needs" [via Wikipedia].

Emotional neglect specifically is defined as a "pattern in which an individual’s affectionate needs are consistently disregarded, ignored, invalidated, or unappreciated" [via Science Direct]

Shoutout to:

Traumagenic, stressgenic, isolgenic, and any other adaptive systems/headmates who were formed to deal with neglect

Those who didn't receive the emotional support they needed during hard moments in their life

Systems with parents who didn't show enough affection

The ones who went through lack of access to mental health resources, even in crisis

Plurals who were ignored during childhood, or were isolated from their peers

Those aware that their caregivers were trying their best, but still didn't give the care their child needed

First of all, I'm so, so, sorry you didn't have what you needed. Things may not have started off well, but I believe in you. Whatever you are, wherever you come from, you're here now, and that counts for something. That always counts for something.

Just me talking this evening. Nobody else knows I’m making this post.

But.

Questioning our origin.

Stop reading if you’re anti-endo, anti-traumaendo, etc. This post isn’t for you.

I’m not convinced we developed plurality entirely from trauma. Or at the very least our trauma wasn’t bad enough to cause our plurality. I’m not even sure we have trauma. Our family, particularly our mother, claims we have trauma, but I don’t remember any of it. The trauma she claims we have doesn’t even seem that bad.

The lady who first attempted to evaluate and perhaps diagnose our plurality, seemed to disregard our supposed trauma as root for our plurality. She mentioned that neurodivergence can also be a root, but then. We weren’t diagnosed with autism though.

So I don’t know our origin. But I don’t feel like it’s traumagenic anymore. I honestly don’t want to be traumagenic. I mean, who does, but just. I don’t want be lumped in with the anti-endos or have people automatically assum that we’ee anti-endo just because we’re traumagenic.

we use xeno-orgins in private sinds we jsut use them for fun and we dont want people to send us hate for it like we are traumagenic but i just love terms like stargenic and pinkgenic and they give my so much comfort to use that its just something i want to keep close to myself an not tell others about

Hi! Xeno origins are wonderful and there is absolutely nothing wrong with using them, especially if they bring your system comfort! Also, your system origins and other details about your system are personal, and you don’t owe that information to anyone! It’s okay to keep your system origins private.
