Hi!! I love your writing and finally finished SYWYGH!!! I understand the last chapter is supposed to be ambiguous but could you talk about what it meant to you, or how you see Jean and Marcos relationship developing in the future?
Thank you so much, Nonnie! I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long to respond to this, but my reason has been mostly so I could finish the epilogue I was writing that could took answer part of your question with that:http://archiveofourown.org/works/2640533/chapters/23186145″>See You When You Get Here: The Horizon (Epilogue)As for that last chapter being ambiguous, I think it works on several different levels. First, people don’t always get what’s coming to them and what people do can be more complicated that we might think. There’s no real villain in this story unless you find one in it, and I think that comes back to how differently each of us not only experiences stories but life itself. I felt it important to allow the reveal to release the pressure not only for Jean (in that he doesn’t have anyone to blame after all) but for the readers too. It serves as a form of closure, whether it feels complete or not.Second, their relationship is something that’s full of potential and possibility and hope. Ending with a change in how things are with a glimpse of the future was important to me. They have a larger journey ahead with even more challenges to come but their commitment to each other is what’s most important. The fact they gain the ability to touch, to move, to connect, is so vital to moving forward and quite literally reconnecting after everything that has happened. It’s like their finding love all over again and yet finding love for the first time. There’s a few more things in the epilogue that I’ve written so I can’t wait to see what you think of that, anon. I hope that answers some questions for you.

SYWYGH Ch3 alt. ending
Happy late birthday wingsofbadass! I wasn’t sure what to do for your birthday. This seemed like the perfect gift and I couldn’t help myself. This is for and because of you. I hope you enjoy.
Contains spoilers for the end of See You When You Get Here Chapter 3.
Jean stammered, eyes wide and darting. His fingernails met bark as he pushed himself into a corner, stuck between this figure and the tree. He was trapped. A sliver of thought in him hoped that he was dreaming. He’d merely sat down outside the cemetery, head in his hands as it had been for several days, and fallen asleep there. But Jean knew the difference between reality and a dream, and no matter how much he hoped he was seeing things, what he now saw -- he could feel it in the pit of his stomach -- was real.
The white seemed to come together to form a hand. Four fingers and a thumb in a luminescent, transparent hand reached out for him. It jittered and fluttered in the breeze that rushed by. Raindrops still tapped upon Jean’s shoes. One phrase finally escaped from his throat as the hand narrowed in on him. His voice was exasperated, calling out, “Would somebody please just give me directions?”
The specks stopped, suddenly aware of him now, like they had heard him for the first time.  They shook apart, swimming through the air like a school of fish, and formed into a semblance of a face. The colours changed and blended to form Marco’s familiar visage. His expression looked soured and displeased. Its voice rang out to mock him. “Would somebody please just give me directions?”
Jean bit his lip and frowned. He shook his head and growled back in complaint, “I’m serious!”
The face moved closer, specks swirling to continue its mocking. “Blah-blah-blah, me-me-blah!” it began, mouth moving up and down comically, “Blah-blah, blah-blah, me-me-me!”
