The thing about the "ACTUALLY this kid show isn't actually for kids" crowd is yes that mentality is pretty ridiculous but also like 99% of the time the reason those people act like that in the first place is cause they're talking about a show that's like, objectively just a really good show and is written to appeal to people of all ages and so they naturally get defensive when people dismiss it and compare it to idk Bluey or whatever. Like yes it's pretty ridiculous to take shows like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls or The Owl House and claim that they're Not Actually For Kids, but I also think anyone who's ever actually watched those shows and given them a fair chance would agree that it's equally ridiculous to act as if they belong in the same category as shows made for literal preschoolers.

- Philip allows Hunter to transition (by magical means obvi) but only when Hunter is successful in his missions

- so whenever Hunter fails or dabbles in anything he isn't "supposed" to, Philip withholds Hunter's magical testosterone potions (or whatever it is), she/her's him, takes his binder, etc.

- Philip tells him that if Hunter isn't going to do his job, he doesn't deserve to be a boy

- Hunter, who is being actively gaslit, believes that Philip is acting in Hunter's best interest

- so when Hunter is finally seeing the truth and starts figuring out what he's supposed to be, he wants to reject gender all together

- the idea of gender and what he's supposed to be has been pushed on him his whole life and he's just SO done with it

- ofc Luz and the gang are supportive of Hunter figuring himself out

- after awhile he comes to the conclusion that he really is a boy, but he's NOT Caleb. he's his own person! he's so far removed from Caleb Wittebane at this point.
