Saw Black Panther in Concert with my mom and almost cried again. Twice.

I reiterate three things I’ve always said every time I watch it

1. I love how much a damn weeb MBJ/Erik is. Over there doing Anime Villain monologues.

2. I’m not usually super attracted to MBJ, but there’s something about his swagger as Erik that made him insanely hot to me.

3. If T’Chaka hadn’t died, he would have to count his damn days. Because how do you leave a child (your own nephew) to find their parent’s (your brother’s) dead body on their apartment floor, and just waltz through life like nothing happened?

Side note: I only just noticed during the first challenge fight with Erik that T’Challa was working really hard to not actually hurt/kill Erik. He kept blocking and navigating away from him/pushing him back. On some level he probably felt like he deserved that ass beating, even though it was T’Chaka’s sin that he never even faced the consequences for.

Yes! I was actually in the middle of writing a fic where Erik falls ill when I found out Chadwick Boseman died. I don’t think I’ll continue that story (at least for right now) because it hits a little too close to the current reality. Now I’m writing something a bit more happier.

On t’cherik (indulgent so ignore me)

So the fandom seems split on the dynamics between these two. I will preface this with, the fandom is brand spanking new so it will take time for tropes, fandom jokes and head canon dynamics to rly take root. Writing wise I hope writers dont box either characters into one box or trope. Theres alot to explore with both Erik and T’challa.

Disclaimer, I personally lean towards Top!Erik/Switch!T’challa. My reasoning being, Erik is a little shit and T’challa is first and firmost a diplomat. 9/10 he’ll get his way, he doesnt need the macho display. He also grew up and is surrounded by women and has obviously been socialized to make peace. Compared that to Erik and his life growing up. I really really like the idea of T’challa letting himself... relax. Not be in control. Also ngl its easier to write Erik that way. The way he acts in the movie gives credence to this alpha male type with mad jokes, brilliant mind... sexy body.

Now I’ve read some other shippers thoughts on the dynamics and i find myself agreeing with the reasoning and dynamics behind Bottom!Erik. More and more, cause it requires the writers/readers to dig deeper. @panthersinwakanda @cutthroatbitchcult

Theres a lot of potential for loooovely d/s goodness. Its also a great subversion of heteromantic tropes, aaand just legit. Like let Erik be loved lol.

Especially in any sort of redemption Arc where you have Erik lowering his walls and letting go (just a little bit) of all that rage.

Anyway I cant wait to see how the fandom leans, and i hope some of the more experienced writers take the roads less travelled (and give us some diversity lol, abo is not d/s)
