MCU Prompt #1
Peter and T’Challa’s first interaction was... interesting to say the least. The new king of Wakanda wasn’t happy with the idea of a child soldier being used to fight Captain America and demanded proof that the so called ‘Spider-Man’ would be a viable ally. When Shuri later heard about how her brother lost an arm wrestling match with a teenager so badly that he was thrown through a table she declared all his future suits would have a built in camera because she was not going to chance missing something like that again.

I know this happens because they series is about The Avengers as a group but it doesn't make sense for T'Chala to join them immediately after being crown king. I know the people of Wakanda can defend themself without the Black Panther but it would make more sense if he stoud a little longer with his people before leaving with the avengers.

AT THE END OF THE DAY
warning: angst, family issues/death, soft/quiet shuri, Riri's the best and most patient girlfriend ever, gentle riri, shuri paints as a coping mechanism, Shuri has more tattoos and piercings pairing: Riri x Shuri word count: 1.3k
Tumblr media
Shuri walked around her lab, making sure everyone and everything was fine and in working condition. Once she was done and ended up double checking things again, she went over to her own desk to begin working.
Shuri felt her heart beat slightly pick up. She brushed it off and continued what she was doing. But it sped up more. and more and more, until she was breathing heavily and her vision was going in and out.
"Everyone, get out." Her eyes start watering. "GET OUT!" She screams.
The room was empty in seconds.
Shuri put her hand in chest and sank to the floor, crying. "Griot," she says softly.
"Yes, my queen?" The A.I answers.
"Call Riri. Tell her it's an emergency."
"Calling Mrs. Williams now."
Riri rushed into the lab, frantically looking around for her wife. She stopped for a second and heard crying. It was soft but she was able to figure out where it was coming from.
Riri kneeled down next to Shuri, "Baby, what happened?"
Shuris breath hitched in her throat before she looked up and spoke, "I… I was trying to work and my heart, it started picking up but when I tried to brush it off, I-" Riri could see how much talking about it hurt so she brought Shuri into a hug, rubbing circles on her back.
This wasn't the first time Shuri has had a breakdown while trying to get something done. And Riri knew the reasons, too—her family.
Shuri had gotten the news about T'Chala's death when she was here, working, and since then she'd tried to push down whatever sort of block that was trying to stop her from doing anything in the lab. But when Ramonda died? It was the last piece of hope, of fight, of anything that was still in Shuri and all of it was shattered completely. Whenever Shuri tried to work now, flashbacks of what Namor did would run through her mind until she got broke down, just like she did today.
"I wanna go home.." Shuri mumbled into Riri's shirt.
"Okay." Riri wiped away Shuri's tears and helped her up, bringing her all the way out the palace and into their car.
Shuri was in the backseat, laying down with one of Riri's hoodie's and a blanket that was already there.
"You want anything from the store before we go home?" Riri looked in the rear view mirror when she didn't get an answer and saw Shuri shaking her head. Riri said a quiet, "okay." and started their drive home.
Tumblr media
Riri carried Shuri to the couch in their living room and gently put her down, trying not to wake her. She kissed her forehead before going to the kitchen to make her wife something simple to eat since she knew Shuri doesn't eat much when she wakes up.
When Riri reaches the couch, a sandwich and hot cocoa in hand, she sees that Shuri isn't there. She puts both down and creeps into Shuri's art room quietly.
Shuri still has on Riri's hoodie and the blanket as she continues to paint the formally white canvas with a myriad of different colors. She's mostly sticking to different shades of purple and orange—her and Riri's colors.
Riri stood in the doorway without a word, letting her wife express herself freely and with no interruptions.
"Ri?" Shuri says, turning her head slightly and putting down the paint brush.
"I'm here." Riri goes to her side and kisses her on the forehead, "I'm right here."
"Thank you." Shuri says softly.
"Of course, mama. You hungry yet or you wanna keep painting?"
"I could eat." Shuri takes the canvas off the easel and hangs it up to dry. She follows Riri out her art room, the blanket still on her shoulders and goes to sit in the couch with her snack and her drink.
"I'ma be right back, alright?" Riri says.
Shuri nods twice, slightly zoning out while she eats.
Tumblr media
Riri comes back 15 minutes later with a new outfit on—a Nike's gray sports bra with matching sweatpants and sits down next to Shuri. She notices how Shuri only ate half of her sandwich but finished her cocoa. "You done with your food, mama?"
Shuri shrugs. "I'll probably finish it later or something, just don't throw it away please."
Riri hums and takes the dishes to the kitchen. She puts the rest of Shuri's sandwich in the fridge and washes out her cup. She gets a cup of water for herself before making her way back to her girlfriend.
The two of them watch TV in comfortable silence for the next three hours. The channel switched between things Shuri wanted to watch and things Riri wanted to watch but since they mostly liked the same shows, neither of them minded what the other picked.
Shuri's head is on Riri's lap while Riri drags her fingers over the sleeve tattoo Shuri has on her right arm and among the other ones she has, this one is Riri's favorite. It was the only one with color on it so naturally it stood out.
Shuri feels her eyes dropping and lets herself drift off slightly but not completely.
"I love you," Shuri mumbles softly.
The last person Shuri said that to was her family when she was saying goodbye to them at the beach in Haiti.
Riri froze for a bit, her hand stopping completely. Ever since Shuri's grief started consuming her, she'd stop telling Riri she loved her. Riri knew Shuri loved her but not hearing her say it for a while hurt far more than she thought it would. She would tell Shuri she loved her and not get an answer back, just a soft smile and a kiss on the forehead. Sometimes Shuri would try and say it back but it felt so forced that she just stopped completely.
Riri leans down and kisses the tattoo she was touching, "I love you, too."
Shuri hums happily. "I'm sorry for not saying it more often."
She's being open right now, something she knew she needed to work on when it came to her and Riri's relationship.
"It's okay, mama. I know it's difficult for you."
"How come you're so…"
"Understanding? I don't know exactly what you've been through when it comes to relationships, Shuri, but you shouldn't have to ask to be understood or heard when you're speaking. Especially not when it comes to me, alright?"
"You're the first woman I've been with who isn't…tired of me, yet. You're the first woman I've been with who actually makes me feel like it's okay to have bad days and to not want to get out of bed sometimes and it's new to me. The first time I spent a night at your place, I felt so safe with you and it felt so weird to me because I've never felt like that before and at first I didn't understand it and even now, I still don't…" She sat up as she started rambling. The conversation switched topics three times but Riri didn't bother mentioning it. All that mattered to her is that Shuri was actually talking to her when she was having a bad day. Usually she'd isolate herself in her art room or her "Panther cave", as she liked to call it.
Shuri stops talking, realizing that Riri wasn't saying anything. "Sorry, I completely went off track."
"It's alright, baby." Riri reassures. "I like hearing you talk about things you're passionate about."
"Really?"
Riri nods, "Yes, ma. You can continue if you want."
Shuri doesn't waste any time getting right back on track to what she was talking about.

Tumblr media

the thing about shuri's character in bpwf is the fact that she was unapologetically a non-believer. she's the epitome of the "faithless scientist" stereotype.
the first thing we hear her say is the way she told bast that if she saved her brother, she would never doubt bast ever again. it's such a faithless thing to say, the most common words spoken by someone who didn't believe in the existence of god. "god, if you exist [...]" "if you just let me [...], then i'll believe you exist."
in a nation where culture is strong, shuri is meant to depict change. she deprioritizes her culture for science. she's always pushing forward without once looking back. that's her role. science is her god. she doesn't believe in the ancestors or the old gods. in fact, she felt like they had taken so much from her that there was no point in believing them.
this was obvious in the way she shut down her mother when ramona said she could sense t'challa in the winds. and shuri, the skeptic, told her that it wasn't real; that t'challa wasn't really there, that his "presence" was just a way for ramona to feel some sense of comfort after his loss.
but instead of shutting shuri down, ramona was quiet for a moment before she asked if shuri's version of t'challa's "presence" brought her joy or comfort. and that was so... ramona shifted the perspective, changing it from something religious that shuri would never believe in into something shuri could understand. it was goddamn beautiful because ramona didn't force anything on her, just flipped the script so that shuri had to face her grief.
and when shuri becomes the black panther and enters the ancestral plane; a world where you can become the black panther & see your ancestors. she clearly doesn't believe in it, but she still expects something. she expects her brother, her father, or her mother ... and is met instead with her vengeful cousin; the man who killed her father because her father had killed his father first. he tells her that t'chala was noble, but was shuri? "are you going to be noble like your brother, or are you going to get shit done like me?" and we don't see it until her fight with namor, but she tells him she is not her brother. she will exact vengeance on the man who killed her mother.
and it's so painful because it's obvious that seeing her cousin instead of her brother or her mother destroyed something in her because she wished she could see someone, could receive some kind of comfort from the ancestors, and instead she saw wakanda's enemy. she wanted a reason to believe, but instead she was given a reason to hate their damn belief system and the ancestors instead.
but then she sees ramona during her fight with namor. she sees her mother, the woman who had always stood by him, and she hears her say, "show him who you truly are." for a moment, she saw the woman she wanted, the ancestor who could strengthen her. and i like to think that was her breaking point, the moment she decided to give faith a second chance.
and she found it. she found some sort of faith when she sensed her brother in the winds the way her mother did. she found some sort of faith when she found out about toussaint, about prince t'challa, son of king t'challa.
and it was fucking beautiful.

Crowley would be fucked if Yuu is T'Challa's child (adoptive or biological) because he mistreated a member of a royal family even if yuu was from another world. Obviously Yuu can easily take care of themselves and managed to defeat all the overblots thanks to their super high tech vibranium black panther suit (Dad T'Challa and Aunt Shuri always guarantee the best for Yuu's protection), but Crowley can't stop to think about all the shit he's done and now he's so dead because T'Chala is hella MAD.
T'Challa about to go off on Crowley.
Imagine once they figure out a portal and stuff, Yuu would show their friends all the cool tech they have back home. I feel like they would all be in awe at all this advanced tech that isn't powered by magic.
Also, I don't know if this is still a thing, but I know at one point in the comics T'Challa was married to Storm from Xmen. Imagine Storm as their mom and Yuu also happens to be mutant too. (Whether that be from Storms genetics or they adopted an orphaned mutant) Now Crowley has two angry parents to deal with, and everyone is wondering how the hell Yuu powers work if its not magic.

Alright I think enough time has passed but nevertheless; Spoilers for Black Panther Wakanda Forever!
to start off I really enjoyed the film, I know "MCU writing" has become something of a meme recently with how formulaic it can be and how you can practically predict how the dialogue will go for most of the movie but Wakanda Forever's themes of grief and loss along with how it carries a more mellow/serious to even melancholy tone over the better part of its run time makes it a very refreshing change from what I usually expect from Marvel. I'm not saying to abandon that style entirely but save it for the more snarky characters in the Marvel gallery.
Tumblr media
while I am and always have been of the firm belief that you should never just make characters a different race or ethnicity as opposed to creating original stories and characters the talokhans are the exception that proves the rule, they have an interesting and fleshed-out backstory that makes them feel unique and original as opposed to if they just copy and pasted on Mayan designs to the original Atlantans, I'm a sucker for the sort of tribal futurism that has become indicative of this series making them feel like what might happen if you left an isolated Mayan civilization alone till the present day. The fact that they went through the trouble and chose to create a brand new underwater civilization as opposed to the same overused trope of Atlantis is delightfully refreshing and the fact that they based it off Tlālōcān the Aztec/Mayan (present in both mythologies) paradise realms for those who died violently from phenomena associated with water is just a cherry on top. As far as antagonists go I think they're top-notch, the fact that they are a very clear foil to Wakanda itself and don't so much feel like villains as they feel like people trying to protect their way of life also considering the relationship between Black panthers and Namor as well as the respective kingdoms they rule over in the comics they seem like the obvious choice, not to mention the fact that no one would believe that any force from earth could touch Wakanda aside from a nation of equal standing. The city of Talokhan itself is an absolute masterpiece and not just for the iconic tour scene accompanied by "Con la brisa" but for being the only underwater civilization that makes use of three-dimensional architecture given the fact that they are in a medium that allows for it: which gives me the pleasure of awarding it the
"Greatest Fictional World-building/ Fictional Architecture Award"
Tumblr media
not to mention that that was undeniably harder to film given that it had to be filmed underwater. And to that end, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a slice-of-life comic run detailing daily life in Talokhan or in Wakanda for that matter. However, my absolute favorite thing about the Talokhans was that they were able to recreate the same magic for the Latine community as the original Black Panther did for Black people back in 2018 giving Latine and indigenous actors a chance to be on the big screen and shine with all their glory, plus a new hand sign out of it.
Characters:
Shuri: Her journey through the film was an incredible ride watching her deal with grief, wrath, and heartache throughout made her standout and not feel like she was just in T'Chala's shadow, watching her stumble and slowly but surely become her version of the black panther was great. The fact that she still jokes around and still has fun in the movie feels very relatable since life can't slow down for grief and healing and sometimes little sparks of joy leak out in sadness, I think her journey as queen and as a protector and i look forward to seeing it all
Tumblr media
M'Baku: Once again an absolute joy to have on-screen, his comedy, shit talk, and lines are second to none and in general just heightens the quality of the film. His range as a character surprised me this time while he's always been belligerent but honorable his ability to empathize as well as the respect and recognition he shows towards Okoye and Shuri in this film gave me another layer of respect for his character, Winston Duke's performance was all around top notch.
Tumblr media
Namor: This rendition of the character is without question my favorite, and while that's not really saying much coming from someone who's always thought of Namor as one of the most yee-yee head-ass characters to ever exist from the dumb ass Hermes feet to usually wearing some scale covered briefs/speedo/ male striper wetsuit, I enjoyed his design this time around. The boxer briefs, armbands, footwear, collar piece, and piercings do so much for his design to be unique and so him (at least in this origin). Tenoch Huerta does a magnificent job as the character capturing his infamous condescending nature yet still making him charismatic and enjoyable making him feel sympathetic and caring as a leader. As far as his moral affiliation and alignment goes I never thought the anti-hero title suited him all that well at least in this rendition of the character, both he and the black panthers fill this odd niche as leaders of nations for how they fit in a moral scope since they are always juxtaposed from what they feel and what they need to do for the sake of their people. Above everything else, my favorite part about Namor in this film is his fight choreography; as much as I loath the foot wings (the wing loading you'd need on those alone...) the way they allow him to kick off the air like a platform is one of the coolest locomotion choices I've ever seen giving him this sense of agility and maneuverability that is unparalleled in universe and in any other media, not to mention his intelligent use of his speed, strength, and velocity in his unarmed combat makes his style feel fresh, unique, and tailor-made for him. Also, he makes the second example for my thesis that water-themed comic book characters are significantly better with facial hair.
Tumblr media
(i loved Okoye, Attuma, and Namora too but there wasnt much else i could say about them still love them, their performances and their actors tho)
All and all I love this film quite a lot so much so that I'm actually considering buying this upon release, that after credit scene and memorial to Chadwick Boseman simultaneously feel like a kiss on the forehead and a punch to the gut and I almost cried several times in. this film

It saysa lot about me that as a child I was terrifed of this transformation and as an adult I believe it is a better desing for Wasp, she just looks good.
Tumblr media
I feel like Gamma always gives glow-up to the ones it afects like with Bruce and Dr. Samson, I don't know how Emil looks in this universe but with the MCU as a reference he also looks better as The Abomination.
We were also very close to seeing a Gammazide T'Chala.

i should have liveblogged my wakanda forever watching experience. its a mess of a movie lol
stuff i disliked:
overall plot is messy and boring
shuri is the most bland, unlikeable 'protagonist' and I'd rather have anyone else as the main character
matter of fact I'd like it much better if she became a villain and went through her revenge thing and someone else stepped up to kill her
she doesn't have a progression! she doesn't grow as a character! her becoming the black panther didn't feel worth it!
i get that t'chala died and all but it seems like his death, or rather his life, didn't inspire shuri or any other character to do things differently
random B-plot with the white guy from cia that adds to nothing. its just so they could have a white guy in the story
the whole thing with the black scientist girl is so pointless. the whole movie could have been fixed if they just gave her over. but then who would build an ironman-inspired suit in a seemingly ironmanless movie
on that topic WHY DID THEY BUILD SO MANY IRONMANESC SUITS. dora milaji get iron man suits for what. they fought just fine w their normal armor. its just so geek bros could salivate at the armors
shuri black panther armor is ugly just like her fits lol
my man m'baku. they botched his personality. AUGH
again. the plot is just so dumb. and AGAIN. they took a real issue (minority's suffering and rightful anger towards oppressors) into a villain thing
the talokan treated shuri and the very girl they wanted dead civilly and then Lupitas character just bashes in and kills a civilian just like that. they act worse than the bad guys
but i guess violence agaisnt the talokans is okay cus t'chala isnt around anymore to say WE DONT DO THAT HERE and be a fucking nice hero unlike everyone else
im tired of typing and im already erasing this movie from my memory
just like every character erased t'chala from theirs lol

One of the worst takes on Captain Marvel is the counterargument to the "it's not a failure because it made a billion dollars". Which's "only made a billion dollars because of Endgame".
So, as an avid and proud defender of this movie.
Ignoring the Avenger movies (because you can't compete with them). Only Black Panther, Captain America: Civil War and Iron Man 3 made more (at the time). That's not something you achieve under the hype for another movie;
It was the fifth in the box office in 2019, behind movies impossible to beat: Endgame, The Lion King, Frozen II and Far From Home. Again, that's not something you achieve under the hype of another movie;
It is the 23rd highest grossing movie of all time, again, you don't get it in the hype for another movie. A movie the star of this one is barely in and it's somewhat pathetic because as important as Carol is in Endgame, she didn't have time to do much more than be pretty and shine like a overpowered human-sized lightstick + Brie Larson shaped missile ran in Tesseract juice.
Yes, there's a ton of people that only watched for Endgame, not necessarily the hype but also because it was part of the Infinity Saga. Nobody is denying that. However, many people watched it more than once in the theaters. There are people the maybe watched it because it was the first MCU female-led movie. People that watched because they like the character in the movie. People that watched because of marketing. People that watched it because it doesn't matter how much dude bros hate Brie Larson, she's still her and people might watch a movie just because of her. The other face of the movie is Samuel L. Jackson and more people might watch because of him. And because of any other member of the cast.
Perhaps just to watch a movie that looks fun.
It did not make a billion dollars because of Endgame.
Every movie of the saga was important, all of them were mandatory watch to make sense of Endgame. Yet. Only four non-Avengers Infinity Saga movies made a billion dolars. Or only seven Infinity Saga movies made a billion dolars before Endgame.
Come on, the Ant-man movies are as essential if not more and they weren't as big as Captain Marvel.
Hate it as much as you want, Captain Marvel is one of the MCU's big titles. One of the Infinity Saga big titles. It's a major MCU movie, not only a little stupid filler that's a waste of time in the end.
It's the origin story of one of the people that made saving the snapped people possible. Not to forget she's, in MCU canon, the whole reason the Avengers are a thing.
Also, it will still be very fucking relevant for while. It's important for Ms. Marvel, a must-watch for Secret Invasion and The Marvels. Even if you're not interested in The Marvels, there's no telling of how important that will be for the Multiverse Saga.
(I do think it'll be massive.
Not only for Kamala's bracelet-thingy-I-forgot-the-name and the whole changing places thing. But I do think that the three of them will be more relevant going forwards. Call me biased, but especially Carol.
The pandemic – and very probably the negative and downright disgusting reaction of dude bros – massively impacted the MCU plans. But it did look a lot like she was supposed to be the next face or one of the main faces of the MCU, they were building up for that.
I like to believe that the next leaders of the avengers were meant to be Sam Wilson, T'chala and Carol Danvers.
I'll die in that hill.)
I didn't use the "first female-led superhero movie to make a billion dollars" because it's quite unfair. The competition was Wonder Woman. I love Wonder Woman, a very enjoyable watch. But it's the DCEU and, come on, the first movie to do that would always be a MCU movie.
Even with all my defense here, I also do believe if Black Widow came before Captain Marvel, it would be that movie too. Because it's the MCU. But this post isn't about how I would like the MCU to be so I'll not go there.

GRIEF
warnings: grief, family death, angst
word count: 1175
A/N: this is exactly after Ramonda's death. Shuri never became black Panther and never fought Namor. no header for this one cause i really dont have the time lol. and ik i've been gone for a few days but my phone literally shut off on me and it still hasn't turned on so i gotta use my computer for now.
Tumblr media
After Ramonda's death, Shuri had distanced herself from the world. She didn't show up when Riri had tried to get her out of the palace with an invite to Chicago. She didn't celebrate her mother's birthday as its day got closer and closer, she didn't celebrate T'Chala's nor her father's. She stayed in her room all day. She barely ate, if she even did, and people around started to notice.
Okoye and Aneka were the first two to try and help Shuri through her depression. They tried bringing her food and drinks but when they would come back, said food items would be the same way they left them. They tried bringing her games she could play but, again, she didn't use them. Their last attempt was to spend time with her, but that didn't work either. That was the first time in months that Okoye and Aneka had heard Shuri's voice and it was to tell them to get out. Of course they didn't give up at first but when Shuri started locking her door, they really didn't have a choice but to stay out.
The second person was Nakia. Trying to reach out and help Shuri was more difficult for her since she had moved back to Haiti to be with Toussaint. Shuri answered Nakia's call once to keep her from worrying but that didn't work seeing as how she didn't answer any more calls. Nakia ended up having to reach out to Okoye to check in Shuri but when they were both shut out, they gave up.
Shuri hears footsteps outside her room door before the person knocks. She doesn't answer them and they can't get in since her doors locked.
"Shuri?"
Shuri sits up slowly. She breathes in deeply and unlocks the door. "Why're you here?" Her voice is low and raspy, surprising both of them. It had been a while since Shuri had actually said something out loud.
"I heard you weren't doing so good so I came to check on you," Riri says. She's worried. Shuri can see it all over her face and hear it in her voice but she doesn’t want to be a burden.
"I'm fine, Riri."
Riri stays silent for a minute and looks at Shuri. She’s lost weight. A lot of weight. She's wearing sweatpants and a hoodie but you can tell by the way it hangs off her body.
"Let me help you." Riri holds out her hand. Shuri blinks before taking it, opening her door and letting Riri lead her into her bathroom. She sits Shuri down on the toilet seat while she starts the bath, making sure the water wasn’t too cold or too hot. "Do you want me to help you or should I leave?"
Shuri shakes her head. "Don't leave, please."
Riri nods and gets Shuri to stand up. "Put your hands up for me." She helps Shuri out of her hoodie and sweats and slowly sits her down into the water.
Shuri holds her legs to her chest while Riri washes her back, neck, and sides. "Shuri, I need you to let go of yourself for me. I need to wash the rest of you." And she does. Riri washes her hair last before rinsing her body and helping her stand so she could be dried. She walks Shuri to her bedroom and sits her on the bed. "Anything specific you wanna wear?"
"Doesn't matter," Shuri says, her voice quiet.
After Shuri changes, Riri helps her to the living room and helps her sit down while she tries to make something for Shuri to eat. There wasn't much to choose from, seeing as how everything that was in the cabinets were either expired or close to it. Riri took out a box of Ziti Pasta and checked the fridge for any milk. She smelled it to make sure it wasn't spoiled and took it out.
"Shuri, I'm gonna make you pasta, alright? That sound good?" she doesn't get an answer back but she knows she was heard.
Tumblr media
Riri brings two plates to the coffee table in front of Shuri. The TV's on and much to Riri's surprise, Shuri's awake.
"You think you'll be able to eat?"Riri hands Shuri her plate.
"Doesn't hurt to try." She shrugs and picks up her fork. She’s still tired but she tries her best to give Riri a friendly smile as a show of gratitude.
It had been a few weeks since Riri's first visit and things had been looking up for Shuri since she let herself be taken care of. There were days when Shuri would feel proud of herself for the amount of progress she's made but then there were times—days, sometimes even weeks, where something would trigger about her family and she'd go back to her depressive state of mind and the progress she and Riri had been proud of would be gone.
It was tough on Shuri to actually let herself heal. It took so much out of her not to break down whenever she left her apartment for a meeting with the council. At first whenever she went into the throne room, memories of what happened to her Mother and Riri would come crashing into her brain but with Riri by her side now to keep her level-headed, she stopped thinking about it when it came down to business. Of course she couldn’t just forget how her Mother died and how she couldn’t do anything but watch but she knew she had been in hiding for far too long and the last thing she wanted people to say about her is that she was weak.
Sometimes, Shuri would go days without sleeping and not even realize until Riri made it known to her. For Shuri the days blurred together. Sure, she saw when the sun rose and went down but that didn’t mean she would get tired. She would either spend her days in the lab or in her bedroom listening to music and rocking herself side to side in comfort. Shuri had tried her best to make sure she didn’t get trapped in her bed again. She knew how hard it was when everything first started and to have to go through all of that again wasn’t something she wanted.
Shuri was 21 when her Mother died. She’s 24 now and she’s still making it one step at a time. She’s healthy, she’s in therapy and has been for the past few months since she realized that she hasn’t been making any mental progress since Riri started helping her.
Shuri let M’Baku take the throne and become the black panther so she could focus on herself. She needed to heal fully. She knew that. She knew she couldn’t do that if her focus was on her country and fighting and everything else beside her peace of mind.

ATTENTION HEAVY BLACK PANTER WF AND TEEN WOLF THE MOVIE SPOILERS
had some free time this week and finally watched 2/3 movies I was going to watch for a while. First one was Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and obviously it just put me through an emotionalp grinder and left in tears cause omg T'Chala has a kid who has been raised abroad for YEARS and no one fucking told SHURI about him... and the second one was Teen Wolf aka old friend from teenage years which was and still is such a funny piece of shit, like yeap, wait a minute, I need to say it out loud - Jeff, you motherfucker, you did it, you've created a totally fucked up story with absolutely crazy plot, which must've been came to you in a drunken haze, I still can't believe it exists, and I sorta respect you for that - so getting back to the point of my ted talk that was an incredible creepy feeling when you find out that Derek also has a kid know... even more crazier is the fact that this kid should have been existed since like... season 3 or 4 but...c'mon... we all have watched the series and there was NO KID. Even crazier is the fact that we have literally zero information about his mom. So I guess I'm okay with the idea that Eli is a surrogacy or adopted son of sterek. This hc isn't as crazy as some canon aspects.
