MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE HEADCANON

    ;; so in reading the young jedi knights series again, i decided to write something up in regards to jaina’s mechanical knowledge. even at the young age of 14 - jaina already showed an advanced knowledge of ships and the mechanical aspects. she is also able to recognize multiple ship types by sight and sound. this is partly due to her own love of the subject but also majorly due to the fact that as a child ( and extending into her teenage years ) her father would quiz her on types of ships and provide her with both blue prints of ships and spare parts he found that he thought she would love to tinker with. 

   this even includes a hyper drive at one point that jaina ends up making functional and installs inside a downed t.i.e. fighter that had crash landed on yavin iv some 20+ years earlier when the first death star was destroyed. this was done at the age of 14, during her time training with her uncle at his jedi academy. ( heirs of the force )

    jaina kept up with her study of ships and their layouts - never knowing when it could come in handy. 

    she also was known to build cages and other enclosures for jacen’s pets that he caught so that he could store them in his room in the temple. 

    jaina’s mechanical knowledge is vast in all verses - eu or nucanon. and she uses it to maintain her ships and her droids.

Do troopers ever just switch armor so they can do each other’s jobs for a day?

Not usually, but mostly because the Captain is crazy good at knowing who’s who. I can have an hour-long conversation with someone without really knowing who’s under the helmet, and she’s over here telling everyone apart by the dings in their armor or their aura or whatever black magic she uses.

I wouldn’t want to switch jobs, anyway. Sure, I work really hard, but it’s better to spend a day unclogging the drains in the communal showers than flying a T.I.E. fighter into battle. Fuck that noise. I want to live.

And I’m sure there are plenty of combat troopers who would rather have blasters fired at them on a daily basis than have General Hux yell at them because the bulb on his reading lamp blew and he needs a new one at 2:00 AM. For the most part, we’re all pretty happy in our jobs.

Except for CH-4RL3S (May he rest in peace), who wanted to be a member of the Praetorian guard for a day. And he would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for that meddling Jedi.
