OMG FELLOW DIVINERS FAN!
Who is your favorite character?!?! What's your favorite ship? Who do you think has the coolest power? How much have you cried?
I'm so glad I found another diviners fan! I still haven't read the last book cuz it wasn't translated to the language I read the books in but it's still one of my favorite book series ever!
Ahhhhhhhh! Yes, I'm pretty sure that's how I found you on the Diviners tag lol! My username is a ref to the twenty dollars Sam steals from Evie in the first book!
Real talk I seriously love all the main characters (except Jericho, but this isn't about him), but my top favs are Evie and Sam! I love them both so much. "Too much" messy heroines are my absolute favorites (hence my love for Devi from Never Have I Ever also) and i find Evie relatable in some ways. I absolutely love Sam, he's brash and snarky, but sweet and cares so much and is also super funny and yeah, Sam Lloyd my beloved <3 But honestly the entire main squad (again, besides Jericho) are awesome and deserve all good things
Also side note for a favorite minor character, I love T.S. Woodhouse-- especially after the end of the series. I like how some characters also are not necessarily my favorite, but I think are very well done and complex like Blind Bill
Lol if not obvious, my favorite ship is Sam and Evie. Everything about them-- how they first meet, Sam wanted her to see him, their constant snark-to-snark combat (another favorite trope of mine) is just fun, the fake dating, ofc, and the way they grow close to each other and are just so reliably there for each other emotionally. I'm not gonna say anything more because I don't want to spoil you for King of Crows, but yeah!
Coolest power is a tough one, but maybe Memphis's? I feel like healing is very useful to have. I think object-reading is very cool too though, so maybe that one.
God, I don't even know how much I've cried. Lmao too much, there's your answer.
Agreed about it being a favorite series ever! I reread them like once a year and tell everyone and their mother to read them because they are so criminally underrated it's insane. They should have a fanbase as big as Six of Crows or the Ravenboys and the fact they don't? Deeply upsetting and positutely tragic.
Also, can I just say the writing as a whole? It's so immersive to the time period and setting, which I love so very much.
Also, unrelated to the Diviners lol, love your icon-- get Hunter some therapy

I finished reading The Diviners series and I have some thoughts about it.
Tumblr media
If Evie and Sam were Disney characters they’d be Duchess and Thomas O’Malley from The Aristocats and no you won't convince me otherwise.
As much as I would like to see Jake and the Shadow Men get Murder On The Orient Express style death scenes. I feel like they're probably going to get too big for their own boots around the King of Crows and he’s just going to set the hordes of the dead on them like he did with Luther and Conor.
If anything happens to Isaiah in the next book I’ll riot. LEAVE THE CHILD ALONE!
As twisted as this may sound I cannot wait to see more scenes with the Diviners and the King of Crows. His relationship with them is so interesting to me, on the one hand, he definitely seems to want them dead and on the other, he seems weirdly possessive of them? I’m also super intrigued that the main diviners that we’ve seen the King of Crows interact with are Isaiah, Memphis and Evie.
CAN EVIE CATCH A FUCKING BREAK FOR ONCE?!? My poor girl found out her brother who she thought was dead for years which has contributed to her negative mental health and dependence on alcohol may still be alive, her brother's lover was murdered in front of her, she was nearly assaulted by one of the boys she had a crush on, her best friend was murdered, her boyfriend was kidnapped and her uncle who she never got to patch things up with was murdered. Seriously when all is said and done she and Sam need to take a holiday.
Did anyone else absolutely sob over Henry and Louis’ last scene together in Lair of Dreams or was that just me?
Speaking of Lair of Dreams, I loved Evie and Memphis’ scenes together at the end of the book when they spilt up from Sam and Theta so here’s hoping they get more scenes together in TKOC.
“Any last words?” Adams snarled.               Blood filled Will’s mouth. “Vive la résistance.”
If Evie has to face the ghosts of Mabel, William, Conor or Luther I’m going to crawl into the book and strangle the King of Crows myself.
Roy has big ”I’m gonna get fucking murked energy” and I for one can’t wait to see him get what he deserves.
Let Theta, Memphis, Isaiah and Archibald the cat get that house with the lemon tree and the little dog for the love of God.
If Sam and Evie don’t get to reunite with Miriam and James after everything they’ve been through my heart might actually break.
T.S. Woodhouse doesn't get the appreciation he deserves considering that he gave us the amazing Sam and Evie fake dating plotline in Lair Of Dreams.
The plot twist of Evie being the eleventh offering aka The Marriage of the Beast and the Woman Clothed in the Sun was executed brilliantly. I saw it coming a mile away and when Hobbes found a scrap of Evie’s gold coat I just about threw the book across the room. Also, their final confrontation was incredible.

Take the Enneagram Test. Repost with your number and description. For fun, include some fictional characters who are also your number. Tag one or twenty or vaguely tell your followers to take the test.
My number:  2 - The Helper Description: People of this personality type essentially feel that they are worthy insofar as they are helpful to others. Love is their highest ideal. Selflessness is their duty. Giving to others is their reason for being. Involved, socially aware, usually extroverted, Twos are the type of people who remember everyone's birthday and who go the extra mile to help out a co-worker, spouse or friend in need.Twos are warm, emotional people who care a great deal about their personal relationships, devote an enormous amount of energy to them, and who expect to be appreciated for their efforts. They are practical people who thrive in the helping professions and who know how to make a home comfortable and inviting. Helping others makes Twos feel good about themselves; being needed makes them feel important; being selfless, makes Twos feel virtuous. Much of a Two's self-image revolves around these issues, and any threat to that self-image is scarcely tolerated. Twos are thoroughly convinced of their selflessness, and it is true that they are frequently genuinely helpful and concerned about others. It is equally true, however, that Twos require appreciation; they need to be needed. Their love is not entirely without ulterior motive.Twos often develop a sense of entitlement when it comes to the people closest to them. Because they have extended themselves for others, they begin to feel that gratitude is owed to them. They can become intrusive and demanding if their often unacknowledged emotional needs go unmet. They can be bossy and manipulative, feeling entirely justified in being so, because they "have earned the right" and their intentions are good. The darkest side of the type Two fixation appears when the Two begins to feel that they will never receive the love they deserve for all of their efforts. Under such circumstances, they can become hysterical, irrational and even abusive.Because Twos are generally helping others meet their needs, they can forget to take care of their own. This can lead to physical burnout, emotional exhaustion and emotional volatility. Twos need to learn that they can only be of true service to others if they are healthy, balanced and centered in themselves.Twos can mistype themselves if they are not in an obvious helper role in their professional lives; they might not recognize the extent of their involvement in assisting others. This is especially true for male Twos, who have not received the same social rewards for helping as female Twos receive. Male Twos frequently mistype as Ones or Threes, the wings of type Two. Females, of all types, are bound to recognize some of the dynamics of type Two in their personalities, as such qualities have been socially reinforced. Female Nines, for instance, are especially prone to mistyping as Twos, particularly if they are the mothers of small children. But Nines are self-effacing and humble; Twos are proud and have a strong sense of their own worth.
Fictional Characters: Fictional twos include Molly Weasley, Dolores Umbridge, Bellatrix Lestrange, & Hagrid (Harry Potter), Samwise Gamgee (The Lord of the Rings), Peeta Mellark (The Hunger Games), T.S. Garp (The World According to Garp), Cleopatra (Antony and Cleopatra), Sidney Carton (A Tale of Two Cities), Emma Woodhouse (Emma), and Esther Summerson (Bleak House). .
