This is your reminder not to censor words in tags because it blatantly defeats the point of tagging something so users can filter it out.
E.g; tag something with rape, not r*pe or r@p3.
"Oh I'm doing it so nobody gets triggered!"
Great. Except now they're forced to see your whole rape-based post because its not being filtered by their settings because you censored the word rape so they didn't have to see it. So rather than just seeing the word once in the filtered post alert, they're seeing your entire post and however much detail it has.
"Well they can just censor out both!"
Why? Why should someone have to filter out 1593734 variations of a word instead of just 1? Why should they have to censor two words when you could just type out one and save hundreds of people the additional effort?
Nobody needs protecting from the tag itself. Stop censoring the tags.

I will compromise with the anons who keep complaining about my tagging system.
If I ever write for Ronance again in a Steddie fic please block “background ronance”.
And if whatever the fucking fic is in the tag is that big of an issue to you, PLEASE for the ever living FUCK send me an actual LINK next time you complain about it so I can actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
But tbh? Robin and Nancy have completely fallen off for me.
I like them as friends in canon. But the more I think about it I just do not see Robin going for her best friend’s ex even if he did say it was fine. Also the anons complaining about Ronance specifically make me inclined to just… not want to write for them anymore. Whether you meant to be mean or not, it comes off as “I’m incredibly annoyed seeing you in the tags and even though you’re a good writer (said only to lighten the blow) I can’t stand seeing your writing/username in the tags so much so that I’m going to go on anon and tell you how you should be posting because I have a god complex and I’m better than you and hate how you tag your posts”
There’s still some situations in which I might use Ronance (in when something might be canon adjacent and Chrissy isn’t an option since she’s dead)…
But the last few weeks of constant complaints has pretty much completely turned me off the ship.

yall have got to be more normal about Southern people and I'm not kidding. enough of the Sweet Home Alabama incest jokes, enough of the idea that all Southerners are bigots and rednecks, and enough of the idea that the South has bad food. shut up about "trailer trash" and our accents and our hobbies!
do yall know how fucking nauseating it is to hear people only bring up my state to make jokes about people in poverty and incestuous relationships? how much shame I feel that I wasn't born up north like the Good Queers and Good Leftists with all the Civilised Folk with actual houses instead of small cramped trailers that have paper thin walls that I know won't protect me in a bad enough storm?
do yall know how frustrating it is to be trans in a place that wants to kill you and whenever you bring it up to people they say "well just move out" instead of sympathizing with you or offering help?
do yall understand how alienating it is to see huge masterposts of queer and mental health resources but none of them are in your state because theyre all up north? and nobody seems to want to fix this glaring issue because "they're all hicks anyways"
Southern people deserve better. we deserve to be taken seriously and given a voice in the queer community and the mental health space and leftist talks in general.

I-
Honestly, I should not be surprised these two things are next to each other. This is a land of lawlessness and free spirit
(The fact #pain kink is before #pain killer is very telling though and y’all have been exposed)

it beggars belief that someone would choose to read a book in the “horror” genre, whose literal name promises that it will be full of upsetting, disgusting, frightening—one might even say horrifying—material, and then get mad that the book contains incest or whatever. like holy shit. they are not gonna make it in the real world

"a lot of the fandom codes the character this way" that's a headcanon. please. just call it a headcanon. that's not what coding is.

Alice Dyer is NOT Tim 2.0. Their humor is completely different. Canon Tim is incredibly different from fanon tim. He is funny sometimes, but when it comes down to it, his humor comes down to “millenial who makes the occasional pop culture reference and is jokingly flirty sometimes”. He knows what a meme is, but his meme knowledge is not that far advanced from “I can haz cheesburger” cat. He is not hip with the memes. Alice is the one who is hip with the memes. Please let this woman be cringe and let Timothy Stoker be free from the chains of comedic relief meme guy.

You know, I just read one of your Steddie fics.
And let me tell you, it's really beatiful.
You are a really good writer.
But there's also one thing that I think you should maybe change.
The Ronance tags.
Like, I love Steddie, I really do.
It's surely one of my ST otps.
But I also love Ronance, and I think it can be a little frustating for Ronance shippers to try to search for Ronance-centric fics and finding out that, in most of them, Ronance is only a background ship.
What am I saying is maybe you shouldn't put Ronance in the main tags, if it's only going to be a side ship.
Like I said, your Steddie fics are fucking amazing, and I can't wait to read the next ones you have in store.
But the tags are an important part of a fic, and they should be used wisely.
So what you’re saying is that if there’s multiple relationships in a fic of mine I shouldn’t indicate that?
There’s a reason I don’t write much Ronance anymore into my fics and it’s because people throw a fit when I try to tag my shit correctly.
I appreciate you saying you like my writing but it kinda feels like a backhanded compliment as you’re using it as a way to complain about my tagging system.
Even if I tag “minor Ronance” people will still find reason to get mad so it’s a lose lose situation.
I tag for myself to keep things organized on my blog and if you hate that so much maybe don’t hide behind anon and say what you really feel.

“If you see your art here and it needs to be credited message me” is basically just “Credit to the artist” with extra steps. Artists shouldn’t have to go out of their way to get you to credit them, if you’re running a blog or page using other peoples work its 100% on you to do it as ethically as possible and track the artist down before you go sharing their art. If it takes too much time, imagine how much longer the artist worked on that piece. Its not a clever loophole, its a sucky practice.

something. about. the horror of being sent on an impossible (death) quest and obligations and hospitality politics. the trauma of not having a home, and then the trauma of being in a house that becomes actively hostile to you, one that would swallow you whole and spit out your bones if you step out of line. all of this is conditional, your existence continues to be something men want gone.
it's about going back as far as I can with the perseus narrative because there's always a version of a myth that exists behind the one that survives. the missing pieces are clearly defined, but the oldest recorded version of it isn't there! and there's probably something older before that!! but it's doomed to forever be an unfilled space, clearly defined by an outline of something that was there and continues to be there in it's absence.
and love. it's also about love. even when you had nothing, you had love.
on the opposite side of the spectrum, this is Not About Ovid Or Roman-Renaissance Reception, Depictions And Discourses On The Perseus Narrative.
edit: to add to the above, while it's not about Ovid, because I'm specifically trying to peel things back to the oldest version of this story, Ovid is fine. alterations on the Perseus myth that give more attention Medusa predate Ovid by several centuries. this comic is also not about those, either! there are many versions of this story from the ancient world. there is not one singular True or Better version, they're all saying something.
