friendly advice from vetmed: I know that when your animal has an infection that is generating a lot of discharge, you want to describe that to the veterinarian, because it’s a concerning sign. that is true. I also know that the most common word for this type of discharge is “pus,” so it’s logical that that’s the word that you’ll use when describing what’s going on. and in English, we often add a “-y” when we’re using a word as a descriptor.
but. the word. the word you are looking for. is purulent.
please stop sending in messages telling the doctor that your dog has a “pussy wound.”

Somebody mentioned in a tag on one of my posts the scene where Marco Animorphs is showering after antmageddon and he finds an ant stuck to his hip by the pincers where it presumably was trying to bite him in half when he was an ant and then it died from him becoming very big very fast and I feel like that scene, and the scene where Cassie finds a sliver of a sentient person’s flesh between her teeth while she’s flossing and then flosses until her gums bleed, really deserve recognition in the literary canon. Applegate deserves an award. There should be a TV Trope named after whatever the fuck that is. Like fridge horror but diegetic. Bathroom horror. Your bedtime bathroom routine as an opportunity for personal confrontation with the violent detritus of the dead which lingers in and on your body even after you have ostensibly stripped yourself of weapons and healed over all your wounds.

Being subtle
Here are some prompts for your subtle characters doing little things that are almost unnoticeable, almost.
Tag/mention me if ya'll use it! wanna see what you've done with these dialogues I can equally support!
Standing behind you to shield you from the scorching heat of the sun, you don't notice until later on.
Holding/leaning on the elevator door while waiting for you, and the other people.
Sidewalk rule, They'll subtly walk in front of you to walk on the edge/outside part of the sidewalk, and you'll have no choice but walk beside them.
Holding onto the corner of the table while you bend down to get something that has fallen off.
Closing the blinds/lights or dimming the lights when the other shows sensitivity over the light.
Swatting off those bugs flying over you at night.
Walking behind them in an alley or dark place.
Blocking your behind with their hand/body when you are wearing something short or stained behind.
Holding the door open for you.
Wearing that small trinket you like.
Blocking/Catching anything unsuspecting flying your way while you're distracted.
Pulling you aside from an incoming force preventing you from colliding with said force.
Standing behind you and staring off any onlooking creep in the club.
Pulling you down to avoid bumping your head from the wall/low ceiling.
Steadying you before you trip.
Pulling your shirt down when you're stretching.
Adjusting your socks from sliding down when your legs are over theirs.
Hair ruffling/head pats.
Moving your mug away from the corner because you placed it down without looking at it.
Cleaning up your glasses after they try it on.
Follow me on Twt I post behind-the-scenes stuff and early foreshadowing|| If you want to support me, consider my Ko-Fi

DO NOT BE AFRAID
this is combining Ovid's Heroides and the Excidium Troie because I can't stop thinking of Hermes telling him not to be afraid. what the fuck!! Ares is wearing the crown that Paris gave him.
I have. thoughts. about Paris. he's almost got this Troilos parallel in my mind, that the event that defines him in detail exists in a lost narrative that we don't have (the Cypria), but everyone else knew. the event that defines Troilos is his death (murdered, butchered by Achilles, the violence of which haunts everything after. Achilles, child killer, you can't escape that!), and the event that defines Paris is the Judgement. what's a lost text but a kind of grave!!
idk I don't think that Paris before the Judgement would recognize himself after bc when you become god touched, it rearranges your guts. you become transformed in the worst way possible! how could you recognize yourself! but I also think that all the Parises after the Judgement would recognize each other because that event is so locked into the trauma of war and the scar it leaves on the land, it's like a scar on the narrative too. it exists like this forever, over and over again, so you exist like that forever too. Troy collects grief and despairs.

and Paris is like. a miserable little god/corpse-puppet or something, like a match for the gods to throw onto gasoline.
