IM IM SO yes unhinged is exactly it like I read a post connecting it all like two days ago AND HAVENT KNOWN PEACE SINCE like I think it was the last chunk of symbology to really really sink in so it's all the more powerful. because we joke about how Stede was oblivious to the gay romance of it all, but he wasn't imo. He knew there was a crush, he knew there was attraction, romantic physical emotional depth to the attraction... he didn't know how to recognize LOVE or like specifically how his love can & does affect other people. his heart is a petrified orange; the treasure hunt is about treasure, Lucius don't be daft; he eats a 40 orange cake all without sharing and his crew's teeth fall out. except while the petrified orange may not have juice it's a perfect paperweight, it's a momento to talk to across the table, it's a token he can leave his daughter, HE STILL HAS LOVE TO GIVE. his heart is useful, his love doesn't ruin things, AND NOW HE KNOWS how important it is not only to his own wellbeing but to other people to share his orange!

oranges are literally the warmth and energy of the sun transformed into sugar!!! wrapped up in its colorful packaging that you can split and share with friends! you peel one and your hands smell like oranges the rest of the day, a perfume that permeates everything. I think about that poem sharing an orange all the time like whenever I start to wonder what's life all about what's the point, and it always is just the perfect distillation of what pure happiness is. it can be that simple, easy like breathing -- just to share an orange with friends and spend the time so well together.

Talk rarepairs to me
anon you are opening my pandora’s box. first of all im a multishipper and it takes very little for me to be like “yeah i could ship that” and muir gives us a book full of characters i can point at and say “gay” so im a kid in a candy store
right now i have an extremely niche set of rair pairs i am interlocking in my head. this all has pretty much 0 canon context but im having fun. so hear me out on something i diehard shipped in gtn: judith/marta. immediately shipped it on my first time reading gtn and we’re finally up to 5 whole fics in the tag.
the two most recent ones here and here captured pretty much the dynamic i had imagined for them
before i say anything: marta dyas is 100% my favorite minor character and i have a Lot of Feelings about her and i ship her and judith in gtn. i really like the dynamic of them both being ‘perfect’ soldiers but they allow a level of comfort around each other that they can’t have with anyone else. it’s so obvious that they have an implicit trust between each other and that marta would follow judith anywhere and judith is totally confident in the fact that marta will have her back. and the fact that tamsyn muir says that if cytherea hadn’t showed up, no one but ianthe would have become lyctorhood, i can reasonably believe a scene where judith would be forced to choose between gaining ultimate power to enter the emperors service as lyctor and marta, our perfect necromantic soldier would choose marta.
i think this ship could get really interesting with just how different the seconds necro-cav relationship is. again, the second necromancer’s specialty is the opposite of the eighths. while the eighth drains their cav like a battery, the second is said to augment a cavalier. i am so curious about the science behind it, and im assuming it works sorta like the final fight scene in gtn when harrow gets in gideons head and talks to her. i wanna see judith give marta some gogo juice so she can kick ass. in my head i view it as a pacific rim type “drift compatible” thing and i believe in the inherent eroticism fighting in sync with someone and trusting them more than you trust yourself, knowing them better than you know yourself.
i would just love to see that specific dynamic and power between marta and judith. and just a side note but i can imagine they got paired together pretty young like isaac and jeannemary, and i think that’s a skill they’d develop over time. i can imagine when they first got paired marta could see judith as nervous/bossy and i could for sure see judith struggle to trust marta at first, but i really want to see how they developed into the unified team they presented at canaan house.
now for the angst. marta dyas is 100% a person who would die for something she believed in, and i think it’s very clear that she believes in judith. marta followed judith’s lead unquestionably and it was judith who made the call to fight teacher and signal the emperor: a call that directly led to marta getting killed. that scene where judith refuses medical attention and tells them to help marta, who is obviously dead, just kills me every time. judith refusing to leave marta’s body and her line where she says “no one should have to watch their cavalier die” had me choked up so bad tbh.i think that’s a decision judith has to live with in htn and i think it is really going to change her in some way.
as for ships with them in htn, i like the idea of judith/coronabeth etl arc and i really like the idea of dulcinea/marta (yes i said dulcinea/marta) in the afterlife. i have a whole mental storyline of how those relationship arcs would go but for the sake of brevity ill stop here lol. i have a lot of feelings about these characters tho

Participation will also run similarly to past events, and you can read the FAQ for some of the general questions (or send us an ask/IM). Now that the prompts have been posted, you may begin working on your fanworks as soon as you’d like. While you can make them as early as today, please do not post until the appropriate day in your timezone (i.e., don’t post for day 1 until February 4th in your timezone). If you want/need to work on your creations early because you won’t be able to post them yourself, or you want them housed on the SQW blog, feel free to submit them. You can do this at any time, and we will hold on to your creation until it is time to post.
If you are interested in or planning to create some form of fanwork for the 10th SQW, please note the following guidelines on how to participate.
Anyone is eligible to participate in SQW. You don’t need to have declared participation or registered in any way. You do not need to be on tumblr, and if you post off-site, please just drop a link in the submission box (or send a fanmail message).
This blog goes by EST, so no posts will be reblogged until midnight EST of each day.
If you post your creation to your blog to be reblogged here, please tag it with “swanqueenweek” in the first five tags. (We’ve seen posts that say the first five tag rule is no longer applicable, however we haven’t verified this, so to be safe please still use the main #swanqueenweek tag in the first five.)
We will make periodic announcements when the queue is full/empty so that you have an idea of if your post was seen, but you can always submit a link to the submission box to make sure we see it (if we’ve already queued your post I’ll just ignore the submission), or send us an ask/IM checking on if yours is queued. We will respond as soon as possible to let you know.
You do not have to participate in all seven days, you can pick and choose the prompts you like/are inspired by, one for each of the eight, or multiple creations for each day. Go crazy!
There are no minimums/maximums for participation.
You may make late creations and post them any time after the day of the prompt has passed (e.g., post a Day 1 creation on day 3, or a day 4 creation three days after the event has ended, etc.). We will be reblogging late submissions as late as one week after the event is done.
Creations can be stand-alone, or they can be connected, either by content or by post (e.g., you can make it a multi-chapter fic with each chapter being a prompt, or you can make a post that just collates all content).

If you would like to participate, but don’t want to make a fanwork or don’t know how, there are plenty of other things you can do to be a part of the 10th bi-annual SQW. Below are a few suggestions:
Betaing: If you are interested in volunteering to be a beta between now and the end of the event, please let me know and I will add you to this resource list. When you send me a message (ask/IM/submit) please give a little bit of info about what you will/won’t beta, and an estimated turn-around time.

Creating Tutorials: SQW is obviously for celebrating our favorite ladies, but it can also be an awesome catalyst to learn a new skill or pick up some new tips. If you’re feeling uninspired by the prompts but still want to participate, tutorials can be a really helpful thing for those wanting to get their toes wet.
Pimping: It seems a bit obvious, but people need to know the event is happening to be able to participate! SWEN is an ever-growing family, and our newbies need to know this is going on. Pimping out the event to other sites or on your own blog will help spread the word and let all those new to SWEN about SQW.
Excitement Posts: Are you just so excited for SQW you can’t stand it?! I don’t blame you, because our shippers definitely know how to celebrate. So, fanperson it out in a post!
Further Prompting: Maybe you have a plot bunny but no time to write it. Or you see a screencap that is just perfect, but don’t like making graphics. Send them in, and for those creators that are just a bit stuck, maybe your specific prompt will get their juices flowing. Please also feel free to send in suggestions for types of creations people could make that maybe are less obvious (e.g., fake facebook threads, fake trailers, poetry, etc.).
Just as a reminder, SQW is meant to be a fun event to flood our dashboards with Swan Queen, but it can also be a great opportunity to put yourself out there and try something new. If you don’t know how to make something, or are nervous to post, I hope you feel comfortable enough to give it a shot. Do you know why you were called that?
I don’t know about Malaya, but I did choose Dara because it could mean ‘Star’ and that’s what I am.

Not really either, but Nero and I have some sort of relationship so I guess taken?

I’m still figuring out what I can do but I can create almost anything I can imagine out of thin air. I think I’m also Lucky.
