reaction compilation #127
The comic is back with page 82, and it is the next day after Chara asked Asriel for a favor...
Given that there is very little information, we don’t exactly have a theory, but we do have a speculation. You can check it out here.
The reblogs are appreciated! :)
Chara consumed the buttercups.
Research did go into this. Buttercup poisoning is rare since they taste acrid and blister the mouth, deterring consumption. Just the same, even small quantities are extremely poisonous, and symptoms progress as such:
Stage 1 (within 1 hour)
Irritation and blistering of the skin
Ulceration of the mouth and digestive track
Stage 2 (after 4 hours)
Gastrointestinal damage: nausea, vomiting, bloody diarrhea
Kidney damage
Confusion, dizziness, and headaches
Breathing difficulty, coughing
Paralysis
Stage 3 (within 24 hours)
Convulsions
Asphyxiation and circulatory failure
Death

Page 82 depicts the last stage of this awful poisoning. Since most of the damage of buttercup poisoning is internal, it was important to show the effects of the damage in an external way. Sunken, dark eyes and skin so pale the veins are visible shows dehydration and low blood circulation. The lips and nose are inflamed because of contact dermatitis. While a full body rash was not explicitly stated on the toxicology reports, I opted to include it because buttercups are a severe skin irritant, and ingested plants that cause a histamine reaction usually cause rash outbreaks all over the body.
Yes. There actually is an account of a man drinking a juice made of buttercups and dying the next day. It’s mentioned in our post regarding how long Chara was ill.
It was very important to us that Chara not look peaceful on their death bed. After all, poisoning is a horrible way to die and an awful thing to witness.
Here, Chara’s skin is even paler than normal, and the circles around their eyes include not just purple, but yellow and red as well. The red rash on their skin helps emphasize that pale complexion, which is pushed to the limit with the veins showing through their skin, giving Chara the appearance of being nearly transparent.
Its also the first time we have used a soft coloring style on a character, which unexpectedly clashes with the healthy Chara on the previous page. Your horrified reaction is a compliment since that was exactly the response we were hoping to cause.

Why are the Fell Bros. the size of Transformers (as compared to 'The Human')?
(Geez…they aren’t THAT big. Human Frisk is just very small. ^^)

(tahutoa) saw a drawing by poryphone on Twitter, and instantly loved it so fucking much I shouted like an autismo (which I am)
I proceeded to lose a majority of the day to making this arrangement.
