Take the red pill
Tumblr media
Įven those who use the term in more mainstream spaces do so without much clarity. Men who hate feminism, who are against liberal ideas, men who believe in things like p izzagate, pick-up a rtists (PUAs), t he manosphere (a group of online communities that include MRAs, PUAs, incels and Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW) among others) and QAnon. Men like Cesar Sayoc, the man who sent improvised explosive devices to critics of Donald Trump, and far-right conspiracy theorist and radio host Alex Jones. But there is a certain type of person who proudly proclaims to have taken the red pill most often. There is no one true definition of red-pilling, so red-pilling can be anything. It gained traction on internet forums, then Reddit, and for years, has stood as a battle-cry for conservative conspiracy theorists and men’s rights activists (MRA) – many of whom believe the “truth” is that white men are under attack.īut what does the phrase really mean? There are too many definitions of red-pilled in Urban Dictionary to cite them all. If you take the red pill, you see the underpinnings of the world’s networks, the push for power from various groups, the nefarious dealings of those in control to keep the masses satiated and at bay.īut as time went on, this became more than just a line from a movie. If you take a red pill, your eyes are opened to the truth of the world, and you no longer exist in the prettier, but fake, world you thought you lived in. Initially, following the metaphor of how it plays out in the film, taking the red pill (instead of the blue pill) meant choosing to see the truth. In recent months, The Matrix co-creator Lilly Wachowski has spoken out, saying the science fiction film is more of a transgender allegory than anything else – revelations that will certainly grate on those who gravitate to the movement inspired by one of the movie’s most memorable lines: “Take the red pill.” The movie’s premise and many of its lines have stuck with us for more than 20 years and, particularly in the last decade, been co-opted by groups who would never be aligned with its original ethos. Ever since its release in 1999, references from blockbuster film, T he Matrix, have become part of popular culture.

Take the red pill movie#
In speaking to a variety of prominent figures in the movement - Paul Elam, Warren Farrell and Fred Hayward among them - Jaye finds herself swayed by statistics and laments.
Take the red pill movie#
Let’s not get bogged down considering that assertion, because the movie drops it immediately - proceeding to address the more easily understood concerns of the men’s rights activists ( MRAs) whose work she was reading. Upset by a pair of high-profile rape cases, she did some Googling and soon found herself reading essays by men whose defensiveness on the subject of false rape accusations has led others to claim they promote the real thing. Jaye begins with an unpromising first-person introduction, establishing her background as an actor who, frustrated with blonde-victim roles, decided to take up the camera and explore social issues. Red Pill doesn’t approach the level of polish required to enter the mainstream, and many who might benefit from seeing it will dismiss it out of hand on video, though, it will be embraced by the community it depicts. But it demonstrates enough sincerity and openness to challenging ideas - letting representatives of this problematic movement make their case clearly and convincingly - that one wishes it were able to look at multiple sides of this debate at the same time. That’s especially true of a film made by a woman, who set out intending to defend the cause of equal rights for women and who ends her movie with the disheartening declaration, “I no longer call myself a feminist.” Cassie Jaye’s The Red Pill is clumsy and frustrating in many ways. But in dealing with subjects who use the word so frequently as an epithet, and who are demonized by those who use it as a banner, one should at least address its ambiguity. One could hardly expect a documentary about the amorphous men’s rights movement to answer such a question. Who owns the word “feminism”? Like “Christianity,” “Islam,” “democracy” and “socialism,” the noun sounds concrete enough to many, but contains so many and such varied ideas that one feminist might wage war against another, or even abandon the label in horror of what others claim it implies.

The way Charlie closed his eyes before crashing his car, the way babe's eyes are still red and he is still zoned out, eating less and enraged, the way Charlie is devastated when he asks Jeff "Is babe very sad?", it may come off as a stupid question until you study his expressions, HIS EYES are pleading, begging jeef to say that babe is fine, that's why when jeff says the obvious, there we see grief and GUILT, the way Charlie is ready to be a test subject to unknown drugs just so the senses no longer remain so that BABE is safe, the way CHARLIE GETS OVERPROTECTIVE in the preview after finding those babe related pictures, the way Charlie was so pale and injured but he did all of that just for babe. Charlie sweetheart, he loves you sm, he is not sad, he is devastated, he will never get over you sweetheart, he loves and cares about you sm, please go back to him. Save him, again pls.

silly ask, but do you think tfp ratchet has some sort of erectile dysfunction,,,, (not that it would stop him from being an absolute monster in the berth)
this is very funny because i HAVE thought about this. i thought about it in the context of Ratchet regularly using dick-pills so that he can fuck for hours on end And then fucking up really bad and getting his dick stuck in pressurized-mode, which means he can’t close his panels at all and therefore can’t get out of his room.
bonus points if this was on Earth so he is the only medic present, so hospitals are out of the question, and everyone is bothering him because clearly something is wrong and Ratchet just won’t tell them. He is not giving them ammo to use to make fun of him!!

Entering My Divorced Dad Era...
Tumblr media
I can't believe @trans-darbie actually left me and kidnapped my kids! Just because I cheated on them by marrying somebody else! This is so unfair. Feminism has gone too far.
Darbie better not try to make me pay child support for my own children who I created then abandoned. That's a violation of my rights as a manfather! Too bad the biased judicial system only favours FEEEEEEMALES.
And no, I'm not going to visit them or care for them or anything. I'm a man. That's girl stuff. (Nevermind that I was the one pregnant with them. That was before I took the Red Pill.)

Rq Flash Fic Fridays
Setup: I read a "Maven changes because Mare gets pregnant with his child in the first book" fic and I was like . . . no. So I got to deconstructing how he would react and this was the most interesting outcome
His face goes white.  “You–”
“It’s Cal’s,” I hiss.  “We slept in the same bed for months; it was bound to happen.”
His eyes flicker, as if he, too, is on the boat again.  As if my touch burned as deeply as his did.  “I’ve seen inside your head, Mare.  I know he didn’t have the nerve.” His breath hitches.  “Not like I did.”
I yank down my collar, letting the M sear my vision until I can breathe again.  The reminder of his crimes, the erasure of his kindness, the one I know he can never take back.  “Nerve.  Is that what you call it?”
“I did love you, Mare.”
“Save it.”  The fabric tears beneath my grip, and Maven frowns.  My heart won’t stop racing.  “Will you make me keep it?”
Something rolls over him, a tension I don’t care to unpack.  “It would be better if I didn’t.”  He eyes the brand as if he might kiss it.  “Still.”  A step forward.  “The propaganda.  The spectacle.  And, of course, Cal.”  His lips quirk.  “It would be a shame if he never found out.”
“Elara would skin you alive for this, Maven.”  I shake my head.  “Red children.  I’m surprised you’re even able to say it.”
He stares me in the eye.  “Mother isn’t here, is she?”
