Today im wearing my regalia to honor the ancestors of past and to honor the natives fighting today for basic human rights. My regalia, save for the moccassins, was made by the lovely Selu Kateri Vargas.

#walmart @walmart #blackfriday #stealingthemostamericanholiday At the risk of being negative and cynical... America put Walmart on the map and now they want to steal the most American holiday of all. Before the 4th of July and the declaration of independence there was a group of thankful pilgrims grateful that the Native Americans helped them survive the harsh winter. Can we please have Thanksgiving back? Just don't spend money at any company that tries to take your gratitude away on this uniquely universal Holiday. Everyone American of any race, creed or idealogical persuasion can agree that giving Thanks is a good thing. Even those who have Native American ancestry like me. Repost or tag another true American if you agree. °°° #takebackthanksgiving

A NEW EVENT
Tumblr media
It's Native American Heritage Month. It's been a long time since I've done an event on here so I thought I'd start organizing one:
Thanksgiving 2021 is November 25th. Since that's a difficult time of the year for a lot of Natives / First Nations people, let's turn it into something worth celebrating.
If you're Native American / First Nations on November 25th, use the hashtag #TAKEBACKTHANKSGIVING on Tumblr, Twitter, TikTok, or any social media platform and post a selfie, art, links to your CashApps/Venmo/Paypal, videos, poems, anything that makes you proud to be Indigenous.
You can submit your favorite movies, actors, activists, Native characters, Native content creators, anything that you feel celebrates and uplifts indigenous people and our voices.
If you are Native and own a shop or online store, advertise it here!
If you would like The Aila Test to add links to articles/documentaries/other sources that detail the horrors of Thanksgiving, let us know. We will set up a tag if you’d like to blacklist it, but I think it would be helpful and healing for everybody if we made this day more about us, our accomplishments, our creation, our pride, and our personal growth and happiness.
If you choose that day to mourn the loss of your family and ancestors, feel free to submit a tribute to them as well. Please know that we love and support you.
See you on Novemeber 25th.

It's time to #TAKEBACKTHANKSGIVING.
Here is my blog, The Indigenous Geek Girl. My topics range from indigenous representation to Top Six addressing anything from female characters who deserved better and the characters who turned us into Monster Lovers.
My more "professional" blog is here: https://alinahdee.wordpress.com/
I appreciate all the follows, all the comments, and all the support.

Don't celebrate genocide. Educate yourself and your youth on the truth. Today we had to OPT OUT of the live with my 8yo's teacher...it began with "Thanksgiving...blah blah blah..." I could see that maybe she was making an attempt with "Some people celebrate Thanksgiving and some people don't." Nope...goodbye. We don't celebrate genocide. And we aren't going to have a lesson with "What we are thankful for," along with a complete fabrication of history. 😳
