The choice “How is he?” I asked. “Same as before,” he replied with a brave face. “Did he speak to you?” My questions just wouldn’t stop. “No, but I did. I speak to him everyday, about world news, his favourite football club, jokes, everything. He listens patiently.” His defiant voice had started to choke. Before us, through the glass window, lay his father, surrounded by monitors and medicines. A stroke of bad luck had left him brain dead, and heart beating in vain. Death might have arrived, but took vane pleasure as his end drew close. “I wish he was just gone, forever!" The statement from my friend sent shockwaves through my system. “Would it not grief you, his loss “ I took the humane approach to things. “It would, but grieving the loss of a person, who is still alive is so much more difficult!" His tears struggled to stay back. This one comes with a small story. Once upon a time there was a really sad cracker. It had discovered that its sole purpose was to fill someone's stomach and that all of its friends had already been eaten, so it assumed that it was going to be next. But the sad cracker did not want this to happen. It did not want its story to end this way. So it escaped from the box it was inside, destined to be consumed at some point, and started travelling the world, doing things it always wanted. The gluttonous owner of the sad cracker got very angry from its revolt, and now is giving a fat reward to anyone who provides him with any info leading to its current location. This is the photo of the sad cracker he gave the food police, which then posted on pareidoliabook and other social(?) media. I do not repost this to help the guy, but on the contrary, to let you know of this proud and free spirit. Because at the end of the day, we are all like how the sad cracker was. Until we stand against what really annoys us at least. Like this little fella did. I guess now is a happy cracker, and I hope you do the same for yourselves. TALE OF THE DAY #7: Dabba

Went to see a movie that began at 13:00 at one of my favorite non-multiplex cinemas. I went alone, after a morning dedicated to painting frame-shopping. It is good to go alone to the movies every once in a while - because you can concentrate on the people around.

I like to sit in one of the few red seats, located in the middle of the otherwise gray row. So I made my way there and behind me sat two young girls, 16 or so. They were giggling tons and were evidently excited about seeing each other. I sat down, and after a while realized my seat was being kicked quite regularly. I wondered if I should turn around and tell them to calm down, but the image of their grumpy face and appearing like a prudish hobbit made me instead stand up and move one more seat left. The girls stopped laughing and glared at me: "Like, why did you change seats, huh?" I then did what I thought was safest: pretend I didn't understand. Luckily they got the message and soon resumed into their giggling.

"Dabba" is a 2013 Indian film that lasts 104 minutes. I enjoyed it, only in the end I stared in disbelief at the screen. But having been to the KVIFF a month ago, I am fairly immune to being annoyed by an insufficient ending - yet the girls behind me brought an audience's anger to a different level, for they exclaimed quite loudly "What the f*ck? That's like the end?", making people laugh.

And with that I left.

How do you like it now? "I wasn't a good father", I sat with my boss on the night before our law firm would be dissolved. "But Sir, you have been a great lawyer, we can't have success in our personal and professional lives, at the same time." I remarked, though I was aware of the tumultuous divorce process which eventually led to the downfall of the best advocate in town, once about a time. "I know, it’s just the realisation of which should have received precedence, which was of higher priority, and where I went wrong. I was a Workaholic, and a bad husband. I ignored my wife at times when she needed me the most, and perhaps, also took out the frustrations and anger of my professional life on her. She bore the abuse silently, but out of love or out of helplessness I would not know. All these had a profound effect on my daughter, who I wished, when I saw for the first time, would be dead. I always wanted a son, in the hope that it will prolong my legacy. I belittled her, bullied her, tormented her in her childhood and scarred her for life. When she did grow up, she chose law, and I laughed saying, “You’d never be half as good as I am!” But she did it; with the rage working within her in proper channels, she worked day and night, till she sued me in court and took me down. She had me disbarred, took every penny I had ever earned in my life and today, she brought the curtains down on this firm. After she finished the documents, she told me, “The dragon you had fed has obliterated the monster that you are. How do you like me, now, Daddy, your legacy?” The old man fell silent. I left him in his cabin and returned home. Next Morning, I read in the paper, the old man had bit a bullet by putting a gun to his mouth.
