Here are some battle screenshots featuring some helmets I made as well as retextured body and leg armor (models belong to TaleWorlds Entertainment). The gambeson color are soon to change, i made them more on the whiter side and I am trying to make them more of a lighter tan color. Many infantry helmets are based off the Maciejowski Bible. More helmets from that manuscript soon to come. I am planning on making a download link for this mod (most likely Steam workshop), it will be an armor mod focused around the early to mid 13th century with some shields of various colors and heraldry. If anyone wants to see some later 13th century helmets, I'll do my best to fulfill those wants as well. Obviously things seen in these pictures are not final, I plan on remodeling and retexturing many helmets if I see the need to.

Game I don't talk about on here a lot but love to death is mount and blade, a game that I'm pretty sure nobody else on Tumblr plays. Reason I bring it up is mount and blade 2 is coming out in October after several years of early access development hell! I've been playing it for several years of that development hell and...oh my god. No. Taleworlds doing a cd projekt red only worse because all the game breaking bugs and unbalanced bull is already on full display because it's been in early access since 2020. Or maybe it's better because it's already on full display so people already know exactly what they're getting? Idk. Anyway, sad! Oh well, there's other games

My dirty confession is that I haven’t actually played many paradox games. Does mount and blade warband count? I played the tar out of that game when I was a teen. Bannerlord is pretty good too, though paradox isn’t publishing for taleworlds anymore

If you’re defining isometric RPG as like strictly referring to the specific style of CRPG similar to Baldur’s Gate, and it needs to be obscure… maybe Age of Decadence? It’s fascinating as an exercise in hardcore inaccessibility and it’s so low-fi and gritty. If we’re looser, probably ffta2.

#also assuming you aren’t being strict about it being Actually isometric #a lot of ‘isometric games’ use other rendering techniques and are just emulating the style

Been a while, but I got some new stuff to showcase. From top to bottom, left to right, here are the helmets and their sources: 1. A greathelm based of a German aquamanilia from lower saxony 2. A German greathelm from the german manuscript "Tristan and Isolde" (This one might be remodeled, I missed a detail on the helmet) 3. A French greathelm from a stained glass window in a Cathedral in Chartres, France (This one might also be redone.) 4. A German painted kettle helmet under a square coif from the German manuscript "Mainz Gospels" 5. A golden English Greathelm from the English Manuscript "Trinity Apocalypse" 6. An English Greathelm based off the seal of Gilbert de Clare 9th Earl of Clare 7. A German Greathelm from a seal of Nicola V de Rumigny 8. A French golden Greathelm from the manuscript "History of Outremer" 9. Last but not least, a French Greathelm from the "Maciejowski Bible".

And that is it for now. I do want to point out too that I am making shields that come in many colors/patterns based off the shield I see in manuscripts. I figured out how to make custom shields and the xml code for them. I plan on adding a lot more greathelms and helmets for lower tier troops. I will make a separate post later highlighting this development. Of course not everything is final, I will improve assets if needed or to correct any mistakes in terms of accuracy.
