Despite hyperfixating on Amanda and Angela recently, I only just got around to watching amanda and angela's first video together (bazanka and babe ruth) and like. o. m g. they're both SO dazzled with each other's abilities right off the bat. You can see them both breaking character so much more frequently than normal to kind of just grin at and admire the other person like "holy shit they're so good!!!" and. its really sweet imo
oh GOD do i wanna talk about angela and amanda’s first on-screen interaction in that video.
putting down the ship brainrot for a bit—i just find it really cute how in awe of each other they were during that dead table talks video. you can tell from the first few months that they were slowly seeing the others talent in improv and understanding that they’re each others Person when it comes to back-and-forth. the “babe likes me! / just you.” part in the dead table talks video is what stuck to me the most like oh :( you can really see :( how giddy they were :(
its SO sweet! to see them literally go “!!!” at each other especially when we see how much their dynamic and friendship has evolved now!!!
I ragged on High Guardian Spice a lot while I was watching it, but I have to admit that ever since then, I legitimately cannot stop thinking about it.
The way it completely lacks plot, hooks, interesting concepts, characters, or anything remotely unique is, in and of itself, kind of incredible. I've truly never watched another show like it. Its not even unforgivabley bad—it's just NOTHING. If HGS were a color, it'd be beige.
The most enticing aspect of High Guardian Spice is how, across the whole 12 episode run, never once do they even ACCIDENTALLY stumble into anything interesting. It IS a special show, but only because, despite all odds, it completely fails to be special at Every Single Possible Turn.
nobody understands what this little scene from the HI/PD arc ED means to me. suguru ever so carefully touching this snail on a leaf while waiting out in the rain for satoru. he’s so gentle. so respectful. so kind. so reverent. he probably reveres this innocent animal’s life more than most humans he’s met. probably wishes his own kind was nicer to the planet he cohabits with these unassuming little creatures, probably thinks they deserve better than to have to suffer the consequences of humanity’s mistakes without even realizing. there’s a solemn sympathy laced in this gesture, a guilt that he can’t do more for the little guy, to make up for everything humans might have taken from it (from mother earth). and i’m sure the snail’s instinct to recoil from his touch only furthers this notion in suguru’s head. maybe i’m reading into things way too much, but maybe this was some very clever, very subtle foreshadowing on mappa’s part for what was to come of geto’s life story. either way, a beautiful scene that will take a long while to leave my mind
thinking long and hard about how the Soul Eater anime chose to give Crona male pronouns. like obviously it was a product of its time, gender neutral pronouns not as widely understood and respected then. but,,,, i feel like the choice of giving them he/him just,,,,, it practically solidifies in my mind that whatever Maka and Crona had going on was Fruity, so the people were like "aw shit, gotta hit them with the Male laser beam so this doesn't sound gay" and in my mind that just made it more gay. when you have to assign a gender binary so that it doesn't look gay. so gay that it had to be Straightened in the anime factory
Suddenly remembered this one time a few weeks ago when my grandpa saw my sonic pop socket on my phone, and spent a few minutes staring at him trying to figure out what he was
Until he finally said "This is Mickey's son... Micko"
"Lowell?!"
