Luscious red for this antique haori with gracefully long sleeves, depicting peacocks among flowers in full bloom (magnolia, plum blossom, peony, chrysanthemum, dandelion, azalea, etc).
I’m not sure you could classify this as “growth”, but probablu closer to “Watanuki choosing what’s important to him in the face of the existential horror of his own potential but unconfirmed annihilation”, which is kind of a different flavour. But all the same, he drops pretending that Doumeki isn’t important to him and openly expresses that he’s happy to have this time with them.
Which is precious and incredible but impossible to ignore as a response to the horrifying trauma of thinking that all of this might not even have ever happened for anyone other than himself, and they might not even know him at all outside of dreams. And he might be wrong entirely but he has no way of knowing either way.
