Rough Hands, Soft Touches :

P1: TANAKA.

I feel like some characters in Haikyuu have rough hands and can be slightly to very insecure about them, so I made a bunch of headcannon dabbles about it. This is P1 that contains Tanaka's drabble.

Haikyuu x reader

Tanaka Ryuunosuke:

-He held you flat against his chest and you could feel his hand almost meet with your skin, but he pulled away and moved his hand back to where your clothing sat. He never actually let his hands touch your skin the more you thought on it.

"Ryuunosuke?" You muttered, looking up from his chest to meet his eyes.

"Yes sugar?"

"...why dont you ever let your hands touch me? Like, not to sound weird or anything. " you giggled a little after your sentence at how weird it sounded coming from your mouth.

He stopped and muttered a little.

"I.. my hands are rough and I don't wanna hurt you or make your uncomfortable. " he mumbled so low that you barely heard it.

"Ryuu..." you took his hand from where is was placed on your clothed side and moved it to your cheek.

He tried to pull away a little, but you kissed his knuckles.

"Its okay to have rough hands as long as it's only your hands that touch me okay?" You smile a little, turning his hand to press a kiss to his palm.

He turned red at your statement, letting you hold his hand to your skin, enjoying the soft feeling.

"You can touch me however you want Ryuunosuke, I know you would never hurt me." You give him a small, encouraging smile.

He thought a moment, letting his thumb carrass your cheek as he thought whatever movement he wanted to make over.

"C-can I touch your hair? If it makes you uncomfortable you ca-" he got cut off by your giggling and a kiss to the jaw.

"Mhmm, go ahead." You moved your head to be flush to his chest again, and felt a tentative hand start to brush through your hair.

He got confident after hearing your breathing relax and moved his other hand from his side to rest on the part of your hip where your shirt had slightly risen from, caressing your skin in small circles with his thumb when you made no movement to pull away from him.

You mumbled how the roughness of his hands felt nice in contrast with the softness of your skin and his face blazed and his heart did flips in his chest.

From that day forward any time you cuddled you started by moving one of his hands to be touching your skin in some way, a silent reminder that it was okay to touch you and you knew he would never hurt you.

He would never admit it aloud, but hearing the praises come from your mouth made him a little more pleased with himself and would always raise his mood when he needed the self confidence boost.

Just because he is tough and his hands are rough, it doesn't mean he never needed reassurance, and to know his partner was right there with him, and comfortable in every way: it made his heart flutter.

Who and How they Steal Your Gum

I was listening to Marina's Bubblegum Bitch, and this popped in my head. I think it's cute, and might make more.

Atsumu:

You popped a piece of gum in your mouth deciding you needed something to occupy your mouth. It was hubba bubba bubble gum, bright pink. It kept you busy while you were studying with ‘Tsumu for an upcoming test. You were focused on the book in front of you, but ‘Tsumu, was focused on you.

“Y/N.” He said drawing your attention to him. You were mid bubble, when suddenly you weren’t. He bit the bubble and stole your gum.

“What? Tsumu!” You lightly slapped his shoulder, when he held the gum between his teeth.

“Couldn’t help myself, it looked so sweet.” He said blowing a bubble. “But you're sweeter.”

Bokuto:

You were on your way to class after lunch, when you heard your boyfriend coming from behind you.

“Y/NNNNN!” He yelled running up to you. “I missed you baby!” He pulled you into a tight hug before pressing a kiss to your lips. You smiled into the kiss, before giving a light yelp when he pinched your side. He deepened the kiss and licked inside your mouth. He pulled away out of breath.

“Thanks for the gum.” He chuckled.

“Bo! If you wanted gum, you should have just asked!”

“But I wanted yours.” He pouted and blew a bubble. You shook your head, and pulled out another piece to chew.

Sugawara:

“Whatcha’ got there peaches?” Suga asked coming up behind you.

“Just a book. Why?” You asked, turning over your shoulder, blowing a small bubble.

“Just wondering why all your attention isn’t on me.” He hummed. You rolled your eyes, shutting your book and turning to face him.

“Is this better?” He just hummed and tilted your head up to give you a kiss. You smiled, and chased his lips when he pulled away. He smirked and kept leaning away watching you pout. Finally he relented, and gave you a deep kiss, pulling away with your gum in his mouth.

“Koushi.” You chastised.

“What, do you want it back?” He asked innocently. You shook your head, and went back to your book.

“I don’t really want joint custody of a piece of gum. You can keep it.” You said not looking at him.

Yaku:

Yaku had been training Lev, when you stopped by to drop off a bento. He heard the doors open, and seemed relieved to see you. He told Lev to keep going while he took a quick break.

“Hey, you alright?” You asked when he walked up to you.

“Yeah, I’m good. Lev’s just not listening.” You hummed in acknowledgement, and held the bento out.

“Well, I brought you food, for when you take an actual break.”

“You’re a lifesaver. Thank you.” He pulled you in for a quick kiss. “Is that mint? Do you have gum?”

“Uh, yeah. But just the piece I’m chewing.” You said.

“Can I have it?”

“You-what?”

“Can I have your gum. It would really help me get through working with Lev.” He gave you puppy dog eyes.

“Fine.” You huffed, holding it between your lips. He smiled and took it with a kiss.

“Thank you.” He yelled while jogging back to Lev.

Nishinoya:

You were waiting outside the gym while Noya hurried and got ready to go. Practise had ended, and he wanted to spend every possible minute with you that he could. When he walked out, he saw the first years gathered around you.

“What’s going on here?” Noya asked standing behind you.

“Y/N-san’s giving us gum.” Hinata said, popping the piece in his mouth.

“Ooh, I want some.” Noya said, making grabby hands.

“I’m sorry, but I gave my last piece to Tsuki.” You said turning to see him pout.

“Okay.” He sighed, “Let’s head home now.” He was pouting, and grumbling to himself about not getting any gum.

“Noya, wait.” He stopped and turned to you. You smiled and pressed a kiss to his lips, pushing your tongue, and the gum, into his mouth. Once you were satisfied, you pulled away. “There, now you can have some gum.” Noya.exe has stopped working.

Tanaka:

You were on your way to meet your boyfriend before he had to go to practise. On your way you popped a piece of gum into your mouth.

“Ryu!” You called waving to him as you turned the corner.

“Y/N! I missed you!” He said pulling you into a hug. You just laughed at his antics.

“Ryu, you saw me an hour ago.”

“An hour’s too long.” He gripped you tight, and held on. You stood there rocking back and forth, just enjoying being in each other’s embrace. Finally, you checked your watch, and saw that he had to go.

“Ryu, you need to go to practise.”

“No. I don’t want to.” He whined. You sighed and pushed him away.

“If I give you a kiss now and after will you go?” He nodded eagerly. You laughed and leaned forward to kiss him. You caught him in the middle of his laugh, which gave you the perfect opportunity to slip your tongue into his mouth. He groaned, and your tongues danced back and forth. Finally, you pulled away. “Time to go.”

“Okay…” He trailed off, looking confused. “What’s this?” He asked, placing something between his lips. You looked at it and covered your face.

“My gum.” Your face turned even redder, as he looked at you. “M’sorry. I forgot it was an accident.” He just stood there staring at you, before he was pulled away by Noya, to go to practise. After he started breathing again, he decided he liked it.

Bugs don't bother him toooo much, he just thinks they're nasty

Always finds a way to tease you about needing him to get rid of bugs for you

So you are straight vibin~ in the bathroom getting ready for the day, music blasting when suddenly you see something fluttering about behind you in the mirror

It's a moth a BIG, FUZZY, NASTY ASS MOTH

you sLaM the bathroom door shut and zoOM to find your knight in thick prescription glasses 🥰

He just kinda looks at you as you explain how serious the situation is and how you nEED him to help you

Sighs very dramatically and follows you to the bathroom

He's pure evil good luck soldier 😔

"You're being dramatic there's no moth in here."

"What?! Yes it is, it's totally in there, it's fucking huge you can't miss it."

You go in to point out where it is but this snake has the audacity to slip out the door and LOCK YOU IN THE BATHROOM WITH THE ENEMY!!

"TSUKKI PLEASE OPEN THE DOOR, THIS ISNT FUNNY!"

"Huh? Sorry I can't hear you, you know the walls are thick."

"Please Kei....let me out, I feel like I'm gonna cry and throw up at the same time... please"

He opens the door and you dart out of there, he takes care of the moth ( you definitely weren't kidding that thing was nasty) and then pulls you into a hug and presses a kiss to your forehead

Why does he love bugs so much?

Like genuinely concerned for his health

Bugs don't phase him at all, boys a veteran beetle catcher so he knows what he's doing

never ever kills the bugs, he always safely catches them in a cup and sets them free in the garden

You had the kitchen windows open to let some fresh air in while you made some cookies, you weren't paying attention to your surroundings so you completely missed the, very large, rhino beetle bop his way into your kitchen

You went to grab the rubber spatula on the counter behind you when you finally noticed him chilling on yOuR spatula

SCREAMING, CHAOS, FIRE ALARM, TORNADO SIREN, THOES RED FLASHING LIGHTS ALL GOING OFF AT ONCE IN YOUR BRAIN

It was a stare down, just you and this beetle

Yeah screw this you need to bring in the big guns

"Hajime!! Help! Hurry!"

He rAN into the kitchen bc he thought you hurt yourself

Then he saw you sitting on the island counter cowering in fear pointing at the lil beetle guy

Meeting and Studying with Nishinoya Yū Headcanons:

• Resolutions. This was it, you were going to stick to this one. Hence why you warily balanced on a skateboard about to plummet to your doom - it'll be fine...

• Until your board went scuttling across the pavement leaving you in it's dust, with no intention of returning, much to your aggravation.

"WOAH ARE YOU OKAY?! ARE YOU HURT - THAT WAS A TRIP AND A HALF! A-" It was probably the loudest voice you'd heard, with a blonde tuff hovering over you in seconds.

"I'm fine, I'm fine, please calm down!"

• With an apologetical smile, the boy pulled you to your feet, introducing himself as Nishinoya Yū. A contrastingly shyer tone than that previously, including the heat rising on his features.

"Sorry, I saw you fly and panicked, then I actually saw you and..."

"And...?" You parroted, brushing yourself and kneepads off with a lazy smile.

"And I thought you seemed nice, can't have a nice person getting hurt, right?"

• Now you’ve actually met, you start noticing each other a lot more since he trains on the court near the skatepark. Nishinoya will offer a greeting or wave as he passes, not being brave enough to imitate conversation yet but you both work up to that.

• Eventually you meet up after you’ve finished skateboarding and Volleyball respectively, or assist the other in their independent practices once you grow comfortable. He’ll hold you to balance on the board, in return you throw balls for him to receive/dig.

• The sparks of romantic connection are there and soon your hangouts begin to mirror dates, just without the classification. You’ll do things outside of the park, like getting food or venturing to some cool place one of you had heard of.

• It's an adventure everyday with him, you were known to explore the streets of Miyagi - you'd found all of the skateparks, dropped into Ukais' store every so often much to his 'annoyance' and even got yourselves train passes.

• His team honestly do not believe him, even if the lovestruck grin he wears whenever he speaks of you is eerily convincing.

Asahi give him the benefit of the doubt, hence why he and Tanaka are the first to see a picture of you. Hinata also trusts in his Senpai, and Ukai begrudgingly confirms your existence having met you.

• Ōsaka? Been there. Yokohama? The dock has an amazing view. Tokyo? Some of the best Cafés in Japan. You could tell he had a sense of adventure, and you doubted Japan would keep him for long.

• It wasn't unusual for Nishinoya to come in with weird snacks or mementos for the team.

"Eh? Noya, where'd you get this?" Tanaka questions his bright friend, the item foreign of Miyagi garnering his attention.

"(Y/n) and I went to Tokyo the other day!"

"Without me?!" It seems you had a self-proclaimed Third Wheel™ on your hands now. You didn’t mind, his friends were pretty amazing.

• They first properly hear/met you when Karasuno are planning for exams, and Tanaka, Nishinoya, Kageyama and Hinata are the main concerns due their lack of academic prowess - Noya is a sparkling ray of sunshine though.

"We got this Ryuu! My partner is super smart, and can help us study!"

"Have I ever told you how glad I am that you met (Y/n)?"

• Nishinoya calls you in the midst of chaos, voice all too happy to hear yours with the echoes of Karasuno muttering greeting in the background.

"Hey gorgeous! Think you could help Tanaka and I study? I'll buy your favourite foods as a thank you!"

"Yeah, it'll be useful for me too."

"(Y/N)-CHAN SAID YES!"

An array of cheers swarmed the phone causing you to wince, it's not like you were getting married but clearly the grades of these two were a problem.

• Nevertheless, the pair rocked up to your house with more snacks than study material - a twitch of your eye sent to them in disbelief. It only gets worse when you set up and ask about their preparations.

• "You... you don't have an exam schedule?"

"Nope~" They're far to gleeful about it and it's setting you on edge, honestly your heart is spasming at how uncoordinated they are. With no worries about it.

"Then how do you stay organised?"

A moment of silence passes, the two noting the pensive shift in atmosphere and meet your unnerved gaze with blank stares.

"...We don't...?"

• The slam of your head hitting the desk made them jump, a pained groan escaping as you took a much needed deep breath. This is gonna be tough.

• Nishinoya is quick-thinking, so he innocently leans in to kiss you as a distraction and a reward once you get on with the study session. Only, you whip out of the way so fast, the boy nearly face-plants the floor.

"(Y-y/n)?! What the heck was that for?" He’s pouting at you, puppy eyes sent your way as he catches himself whilst you simply sigh.

"No kisses until we're done studying."

"None? Like at all?! How am I gonna survive?"

"HAHA you got rejected SO HARD!" Tanakas laughter echoes around the room, the Spikers hand slapping your table in amusement.

"I don't recall you finishing your page either Tanaka-san." An expectant brow is raised his direction, a quick awkward cough sputtering from him with Nishinoya issuing a subtle smug smirk.

"...no, I'm - uh, I'm doing it..."

• You’ve set them up Notion accounts to keep themselves in check whilst you’re not around because honestly, you lacked the trust they’d do it themselves. They’re grateful though, hence the array of snacks/flowers (and screenshots of their revision) you received.

• Boys ACE their exams and come bombing into you after school thanking you and praising your organisation skills like a shrine. Then Yū catches you off guard with an excited kiss to your lips.

"You owe me~"

Yeah he's kinda right, and how could you deny?

• The whole Volleyball team is apparently really proud. Daichi politely requests if you could help Hinata and Kageyama too - but Yū swoops in promising to spare them. Or keep you to himself. It’s undecided...

• Either way, he’s all too glad to treat you to a trip to Tokyo - having found this cool Cat Café or skatepark online, the choice is yours. It’s his personal way of saying thank you for just being you.

Of course, Tanaka saw one of the pictures you posted and proceeded to text.

notes: TANAKA yes; sorry i haven’t been updating lately ahaha i’ve been having no motivation to write full stories but all these ideas for new aus and stuff keep coming to mind,,,

this is guy was ecstatic that he managed to get a girlfiend like you

and you better bet he’s going to treat you like a queen oh my god

you usually have your own thing after classes so you don’t walk with him to the gym which also means you don’t see the team that much

no one knows you guys are dating

not even nishinoya

tanaka is his loud and boisterous self as always during practice so no one thinks much of it

especially when he still helps out kiyoko with stuff but it’s with the intention of just being helpful

he has you ofc he aDORES you

but he’s been interacting with her less and less which gets hinata thinking

a red flag for tsukishima because since when did hinata think and being observant for once

“does tanaka-san seem off to you guys” he’s directing his question to the other first years but the only one paying attention is yamaguchi

hinata’s only concerned because while his upperclassman has been more cheerful, he’s been a bit too cheerful

and obviously pushing his underclassmen to get an s/o before sugawara has to drag him off

“hinata, do you know how nice it is to have a girlfriend?” the orange haired middle blocker stared at him in shock

where was this coming from?

“shouyou” hinata turns around to see noya with a dark look clouding his eyes

“y-yes, noya-san?”

the libero grabs his shoulder and looks him in the eye

“you have to help me figure out what’s wrong with, ryuu”

they both have seen the way he’s been acting, eSPECIALLY around kiyoko

“i think he got a girlfriend. shouyou, you need to help me follow him around”

“why me?”

poor hinata couldn’t talk his way out of this one now he and noya were tracking the wing spiker all day the next day

the others didn’t want anything to do with it but tsuki and kags did make a bet

it just so happened to be the day you had a school trip so tanaka was feeling down with not seeing you all day, something noya and hinata took note of

they came to walked into the changing room without any evidence and sugawara ruffles their hair

“leave him alone, maybe he’s just a lot more energetic than usual”

though, tanaka wasn’t in the changing room when he should have been there already

he must have been running late so the rest of the team just walks to the gym before stopping, hearing voices to the side of the gym

“i’ll walk you home after your meeting”

“thanks ryuu”

he’s holding you by the waist as he leans down to kiss your forehead

a smile is left on your faces when you walk back to the main building but his drops in surprise seeing his teammates when he turns around

“RYUU, WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME”

“TANAKA!!”

noya and suga were asking him questions upon questions as hinata moved around them

daichi pats his back before urging everyone to hurry up and start practice

after practice, you were waiting patiently near the entrance as the shorter members run up to you

“l/n-san! how come you’ve never told me you guys got together?”

you are shocked at their reactions when you turn to look at your boyfriend

he smiles sheepishly before slinging an arm around your shoulder

“we’ll be going!” he waves as you guys leave

Kenma Joining Your Wash Day for the First Time 🧖🏾‍♀️

“Y/N, this is the natural state of your hair?” Your boyfriend stood a few feet away from you in his large bathroom looking down at you with curious eyes. You had just put a hair mask in his now shoulder-length hair with a plastic bag over it and he looked adorable.

You used the towel to scrub-dry the other half of your small afro and shyly looked up at him.

“It got smaller than before you wet it,” He ascertained numbly.

You nodded, your heart beating rapidly because this was the first time you were showing your boyfriend your hair unstyled.

“And it.....stands on its own like that? Without the gel that Kuroo uses?”

You nodded again as he stepped closer to you, taking it upon himself to run a hand right through your locks.

“It’s so soft...” he says to himself, leaning forward to bring the shea butter scent of your hair closer to his nostrils. “And smells so good....” he murmurs again to himself.

You place your hands on his waist and dare to ask, “Do you like it?”

Kenma ran another hand through your wet fro before leaning his forehead on yours. “How could I not? It defies gravity without any of those nasty products Kuroo and the guys use. You look hot when it’s coiled up like this. Then when you blow dry it it becomes that big mane again, right?”

You nodded.

“I-I love you both ways, Y/N. You look so beautiful. I’ve never seen hair that can do these things. It’s like....” Your boyfriend stopped to ponder which word he was looking for to describe your natural hair. When it dawned on him, his eyes lit up. “It’s.....no, you’re magic, Y/N.”

You blushed under your boyfriends compliments. Kenma tended to have a monotone voice all of the time—it was just his voice—but when he called you magic, anyone and their grandma could detect the sound of admiration in his tone.

Still with his forehead on yours, he leans in to kiss your wet lips.

You smiled. “Thank you, Kenma baby.”

You reached up to fix the hair strands of his that started to poke out under the plastic bag you put on him.

“Y/N, I want you to walk me through all the steps you do next wash day, okay? I missed some steps because I was playing my game.”

Your eyebrows furrowed. “Uh, Sure. But, why?”

Earlier today, Kenma had sweetly asked to join in on some universal wash-day steps that you knew all hair textures could do like the hair mask part, but truth be told—his Japanese hair didn’t require all the steps that yours did. It just wasn’t necessary. So why did he need to know all your steps?

Kenma stretched his arms nonchalantly as if the next thing he was going to say wasn’t going to make your heart explode. He blushed.

“One day when we have kids, they’ll have nice hair like yours, right? I want to learn all the steps now. To practice early.”

you were standing by yours and Tanaka’s large bedroom window trying to take golden hour selfies

Looking back at them in your camera roll and deleting them, you accidentally criticized your appearance in disgust .... oops

“Babe—you know what I love about you?” Tanaka asked, getting up from the bed to approach you.

“Not this again Tanaka.”

He wrapped his very strong arms around you from behind and chuckled. “I don’t care. I told you that if I hear you complaining about your looks then I get to answer you with all the things I love about you. So that we’re even.”

You rolled your eyes.

“And don’t roll your eyes.”

You gasped because he was behind you so surely he didn’t see your act of attitude. “How did you—?”

He pecked your neck and chuckled again. “Because I’ve been in love with you for years, Y/N. I know all your little quirks. Now...ready?!”

You sighed but inside you were so smitten. There was no use in arguing with him and you knew that because you’d been in love with your boyfriend for years, too.

“Make this quick.”

“Where to start?! I love your eyes, I love your natural hair and your braids, I love your smile, fuck me I love the way you smell....” You giggled when he sniffed your neck knowing you were ticklish there.

Tanaka continued, “I love your curly eyelashes, I love your nose—“

You scoffed involuntarily. Your boyfriend stilled.

“What?” He asked in annoyance.

“You know I hate my nose, Tanaka. It’s huge, flat and—“

Using the same strong arms you love, your boyfriend spun you around so that you were facing him and flush against his body. The movement and the look of extreme sorrow on your boyfriends face stalled your speech. It was rare to see your energetic man so sad.

“—There’s an and? And what?” He questioned.

You closed your mouth.

“And what Y/N? Is it my turn now?”

You just blinked.

Your boyfriend nodded as if you’d said yes. “Your nose is my favourite part about you.” He stared at you intensely so you could see how serious he was. “It’s a natural African-American feature and it completes your face babe. You wouldn’t be you without it which means you wouldn’t be the most gorgeous female to ever grace this earth to me. It’s perfect because everything about you is perfect. Please, stop talking crap about my wife, alright?”

You smiled and leaned in to return the same passionate kiss he’d just given you.

As for all the people who made fun of you.....” Kōtarō stood up to his full height and you had to crane your neck to see him. “Those fools were just dumb because they didn’t appreciate the curvy figure until it became popular. I, on the other hand, was tugging my dick in the shower to the idea of having a girlfriend that looked half as good as you do.”

He pouted again as you backed him up so you threw your puppy a bone.

“I’ll pay for this and then we can go home and have some fun, okay?!”

Bokuto’s eyes lit up like fireworks. “I love you so much.” He said. “Take my credit card, Princess.”

This is such a good question ahhhh I felt so excited reading this! Okay, okay. Let me think this through.

When I read this, the very first person I thought of was Tanaka. He’s such a cool guy and he’s total best friend/brother material. I once read this fic where the reader was his twin and I LIVED for it. Plus having Saeko as a big sis? Total fucking awesome.

Another one I think would be cool to be related to is Oikawa. Seeing the way he interacts with his nephew is just * chef's kiss* I feel like he would be such a good brother to have. He would be so doting and loving imo.

Being a sibling in the Tanaka household is CHAOTIC

Lots of yelling, not like arguing but just speaking loudly

I feel like Tooru would be super overprotective

Especially because of his fans

They don’t miss an opportunity to crowd you for information about him

This pisses him off and he struggles to keep his cool

Will always save you when this happens

If you’re older than him, he’ll idolize you

He wants to make you proud of him and he loves when you come to his games to support him

He’s respectful towards you without being his normal bratty self, which surprises his team when they first meet you

If you’re younger, he dotes on you

Always offering to help you and asking if you’re okay

Does not like you dating because no one is good enough for you

He’ll respect your wishes because he wants you to be happy

But he definitely passively threatens them with that fake smile of his

Takeru loves you because you’re always so nice to him

Slipping him treats he isn’t supposed to have, like cookies before dinner

Plus you keep his uncle in check when he gets too out of control

Even if you don’t like volleyball, you still play with him which he appreciates

His favorite thing is to play volleyball with you, Tooru, and his father

Arguments don’t happen often in this family, it’s usually just playful banter

If it does get heated, though, it doesn’t last long

Once they’ve spoken their mind, things calm down and apologies are exchanged along with hugs

Family is very important to the Oikawas

You may think that Tooru is the favorite child because of his accomplishments

But as long as you do your best, that’s enough for this family

They are proud and supportive of whatever you choose to do
