Yearly Spotlight: 2013 (Part 2)

The world's first exposure to Frozen from the teaser trailer gave almost no indication of what the plot of the movie was actually about. Hans Christian Andersen's “The Snow Queen" is an episodic journey of a young girl trying to save her friend from the powerful, but lonely Snow Queen. Frozen had whispers of that... but it turned out to be a very different story.

The film, instead, revolved around the of-age heroine, Princess Anna of Arendelle, and her journey alongside an unlikely group of allies to save her kingdom from the wintry magic of her sister, Queen Elsa. Anna does this by lovingly thawing Elsa’s frozen heart.

It was released on November 27, 2013.

It was different.

It was a massive hit.

It also brought several groundbreaking things along with it. First, it was only the second movie from Disney to be animated with the help of CGI (the first being Tangled released in 2008). Second, Frozen would go on to become the highest grossing animated film of all time (overcome only by its successor Frozen II). Within a short time, it received an unprecedented amount of awards, including an Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 86th Academy Awards in 2014.

But most of all, through the love of the sisters Elsa & Anna, Frozen shared the revolutionary message that true love can exist anywhere and with anyone.

What day is recognized as the anniversary for Tangled (2010?) Also, is it another thing that is celebrated similar to new dream week with putting out content for the occasion?

November 24th.

Do what you want for it. A few years ago was a big deal because it was the 10th anniversary, but it's normally just individuals posting stuff on the day of.

October Finds, Pt. 2: Plushies, Clothing, Accessories, Dinnerware, Prints

As we are getting closer to the holiday season, I thought it might be nice to share links to cartoon merchandise I've seen floating around. I use a lot of the websites listed for gift-giving inspiration or to fill up any wishlists that friends and family ask me for. I've tried to keep most things on this list under $50, and most items are on clearance or discounted heavily.

I know items from Hot Topic and Box Lunch can be very hit or miss, so I've tried to only pull items that I have felt were high-quality in the past. Also, I would encourage you to have your items shipped to their stores and pick them up in-person if you are able / comfortable, and help us keep malls alive for a little bit longer.

All of the prints from Gallery Nucleus were designed by people who worked on the show, worked in the same studio, or were very big fans of the show. I encourage you to look up the names behind any print that catches your eye and find out what they're working on now!

In the same vein... While this post was made to share semi-official to official pieces of merch, please support fanartists on platforms like INPRNT and Redbubble! I guarantee that many of the artists you follow on Tumblr sell some of their pieces online, and it's a great way to show your support in addition to reblogging their work.

Belated Happy Tenth Anniversary Tangled!

Ok, I already celebrated the actual anniversary exactly a week ago, so why am I doing it again? Because one item I ordered didn’t arrive in time! Which one is it? The Limited Edition 10th Anniversary Pin on top. It was supposed to arrive here together with the Tangled, Frozen and Frozen II Blu-Ray/4K Ultra HD/Digital Code bundles I ordered separately from Amazon and which were all deposited at my US courier forwarding postal address in plenty of good time to be then sent via international shipping to me. But for some reason the pin was shipped separately from the discs (which all arrived on November 13, before the anniversary) and just arrived today. Sigh.

Oh well, Better late than never. Finally I got all my current Tangled merchandise together. It’s funny that the DVD and 4K Ultra HD discs have art printed on them while the Blu-Ray is just blue. But I’m not stopping here. I’ll be adding more. You know, the Japanese Disney Shop has a separate set of Tangled merch. And, fingers crossed, if I visit Hong Kong Disneyland next year, and see the new Castle of Magical Dreams which is dedicated to all the Disney Princesses and Queens, I’ll see all the Rapunzel/Tangled dedicated exhibits there.

HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY, TANGLED THE MOVIE!!!

It's still technically the 24th where I'm at....

I built some lovely Tangled-themed cuppycakes!!

Pink and purple roses with pearlised princess nonpareils!!!

I did my absolute best to get some maraschino cherries but the grocery store literally CANCELLED my order!! 😭😭😭That's never happened to me before. COVID is so rampant where I'm at that I don't dare go to the supermarket for non-emergency reasons (And unfortunately, even needing cherries for Tangled’s 10th anniversary just doesn’t qualify as a pandemic emergency run =P.) I've got multiple risk factors plus I've already had COVID twice. Aaaaanyway, I'm sharing my fluffy delicious gluten free cupcakes. 🤩🤗😘👍@tangledaddict

Happy 10th anniversary to my favorite Disney movie of all time! ❤☀️💜

I personally didn't watch the movie in theaters but I did get to watch it on TV a few months after it came out. I didn't know that I would fall in love with the story or that New Dream would become a romance that I would dream of having ❤ And never did I imagine that 10 years later, I would be apart of the Tangled fandom making alot of amazing friends or celebrating this wonderful movie. You got that right about Fitzpancake Day, and while I have an entire Calendar of Events, only some of them are actually made annual mention here, the primary ones being:

January 13th - Rapunzel and Eugene's Anniversary (date Tangled Ever After was released in theaters)

January 26th - Eugene's real birthday (date "Cassandra's Revenge" aired)

March 1st - Anniversary of the Series Finale

March 10th - Tangled: the Series anniversary, part 1 (date Tangled: Before Ever After aired)

March 24th - Varian's birthday, Tangled: the Series anniversary, part 2 (date "What the Hair?!" aired - it's split into two parts because some people don't acknowledge TBEA as the start of the series for some reason)
