What can you say about the canon and semi-canon ships of Demon Slayer? Like Obamitsu, Sanekana, Giyushino, and the Kamaboko squad with their respective pairs? I'm very curious and I love your art by the way ♥️

I actually ship most of the pairing you have mentioned ^^ But I'm still going to consider the other ships like Akaza and Koyuki, Tengen and his wives, and of course other implied ships. I'm a huge shipper and I always say 'I want you and you to kiss' with every movie or series I watch. But shipping in demon slayer just hurts man :') Gotouge has hurt me countless times. BUT! Let's just forget about that for a minute. Oh and spoilers ahead.

(I'm gonna go in order with the ship implication in the manga. If I can remember)

ZenNezu - Oh I love them. I just think that it's so freaking sweet how this loud yellow boy, who's afraid of getting hurt and of demons, took a beating for a demon. And because he's a simp really kind hearted person, he treats Nezuko like a human and not a monster like what everybody else perceives a demon. I also love that the two didn't automatically got together in the end, because if they did, Nezuko would just come of as a prize to be won and she really isn't. She's a strong woman worth stanning and Zenistsu would agree 100%

Tamayo x Yushiro - To be honest, it's a nah for me. It's cute how loyal Yushiro is towards Tamayo, but she's very motherly towards him and that isn't a dynamic that I quite enjoy.

GiyuShino - Bro I dove into this head-first. The whole 'Nobody likes you' was just OH MY GOYD THE TENSION. And that headlock? DON'T GET ME STARTED. The bickering and teasing just stole my heart. And hiMEJIMA YOU ABSOLUTE GOLD MINE! I just love how their so comfortable with each other that they can insult each other til they both turn gray (they remind me a lot of MonDler). But sadly, they can't turn gray together. They actually can't.

TanKana - These two are a must protect, wholesome bunch of cinnamon rolls. Some people do say that Tankana is a forced pair, but I don't think it is. Because first of all, the two like each other; Kanao after the coin toss scene and Tanjirou under the cherry blossom tree. And they were teased several times in the recovery arc and when Tanjirou woke up from his coma after the entertainment district. They bring the best out of each other and they're words seem to hit hard towards the other (the 'it's the heart that drives a person' which started Kanao's arc, and the 'come back to us' which knocks some sense into Tanjirou).

Kagaya x Amane - YES. I know Amane was assigned to be Kagaya's wife but the level of respect they have for one another is just a huge couple goal. Their relationship wasn't explored much like the other ships of kny, but it was obvious that they cared for each other.

Tengen x His wives - I've already ranted enough with the last three ships so I'm not going to talk about Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru one by one. Although I don't ship it, I think they're really sweet. Just one big family that really care for each other.

ObaMitsu - They're cute but I don't ship them as much as I ship the other pairs I've ranted about. I love how Obanai simps for Mitsuri, hard. And the fact that Mitsuri can be -not your average, weird girl who can't seem to fill that void for a stomach- herself around Obanai, with him still being a head over heels for her. Glad they were given a second chance :)

Akaza x Koyuki - One word: Tragic. The world is so unfair for these childhood sweethearts, especially for Akaza. You know I'm still mad at him for murdering the greatest thing that ever existed bless his soul, his backstory really made me angry for him. Too bad they were never reincarnated.

Yoriichi x Uta - Also a no. I mean I really want Yoriichi to have his break and be happy with his wife, but I don't really ship them. I'm not really a big fan of living under the same roof with your future spouse as children.

SaneKana - These two are underrated as fork. But I get it, they were teased more in the light novel and fanbook (Himejima bless your soul) and some people are not familiar with these editions. Their dynamic -as phrased by shipping.fandom.com- brooding boy x gentle girl. Despite their obvious and vast difference, they can relate to both their similarities. And I REALLY love how fan fictions portray Sanemi being a blushing mess and can't seem to articulate what he's saying when Kanae manages to catch him off guard and he'd just scream at her to shut up. And they're a pretty hot couple ngl.

InoAoi - Between the pairings for the Kamaboko squad, inoaoi is the one I ship the least. I still ship them though, but they kind of came out of nowhere at the end of the manga. Fanfics actually made me ship them. I read one that Aoi (despite her tough exterior) was pretty motherly. She reminded Inosuke of Shinobu and that's when he started developing feelings. And I love how Inosuke (despite the headaches) can bring a smile to Aoi.

the unexpected golden boy; the one with greatest jokes and probably the baby out of them all. he ain’t the youngest but he comes off as one. actually the most talented—can sing, play instruments really well, write songs, etc. fans start crushing on him when plays the damn guitar and killed the number, eyes closed really savoring the moment. he looked really cool and badass, everybody swoons. admits that he’s already saving up for his future partner and says he’ll buy them whatever they want. actually joins a blind date variety show.

the visual; he has the prettiest face and is always...shirtless. 🤣 usually hides his face in a partial mask and one of the group’s greatest feats is when he lets it drop, everyone goes screaming because he pretty af. one of the rappers and his dance breaks focus on him somersaulting. imagine taecyeon of 2pm. his ig has nothing in it but food and his gym adventures. also, ha s a food vlog! he thinks he’s king but everyone see him more as a cutie instead lol. he still doesn’t know each members’ names and even the name of their grp lol.

just had a thought, but sk8 x kny modern au where reki is a prodigious, faceless (bcs mask) blacksmith 👀 ofc tanjirou knows him by scent (sunny patch of grass, tints of snow when he’s a lil sad) and they’re best bros!! haganezuka would probs be jealous tho, bcs he’s tantan’s blacksmith and not reki!! sometimes they’d be mistaken for relatives (or the same person lol) bcs of their sunshine energy and bright red hair!! There are touching scenes, dramatic dialogues of villains, tragic scenes and instructive dialogues about life. As always, Nezuko is the sweetest little sister. Although since Yuichirou isn’t amnesiac like Muichirou, Yuichirou’s aloofness toward Kyojuro is because Yuichirou consciously and subconsciously refuses to open up for reasons that I’ll leave for another day.

Kyojuro often invited Yuichirou for meals whenever the oppurtunity came up. Yui though spent the first five or so invitations rejecting them. Actually, the only reason he even accepted the first time was because Oyakata-sama was more than willing to not give him more missions until he did.

Since Yuichirou was an older brother, he wasn’t used to being the one cared for, which made him resistant to being treated as a little brother. So he acted pretty coldly to him at first.

Of course, this did NOTHING to deter Kyojuro from inviting him for meals or really just interacting with him in general. In fact, he tried even harder for Yui to open up to him.

Yui was very confused. Why is wasting time with him? What purpose does he have for doing so? Shouldn’t he be focusing on missions?

At some point though, Yui found he didn’t hate being around Kyojuro. By present day, he considered Kyojuro the Pillar he was the closest to, though he never admits it outright.

The last time Yuichirou saw Kyojuro was just a week prior to him boarding the Infinity Train, over dinner before Yuichirou headed for his next mission.

When they were about to part ways, Yuichirou has the urge to tell Kyojuro he appreciates him being kind to him, but finds himself unable to say it. Kyojuro before he leaves tells Yuichirou he hopes that he’ll find a reason to smile again.

Yuichirou is stunned when the crow delivers the news Kyojuro is dead. At first, he’s just numb and acts the same openly. But in the weeks and months that follow, Yuichirou begins to have more trouble controlling his anger than before.

Kyoujuro’s death leaves Yuichirou feeling more lost, after losing yet another person that cared about him.

About a month after Uzui’s retirement, Yuichirou ends up getting injured (in part due to his anger). Oyakata-sama puts him on leave, requesting for Yuichirou to take the time to find himself again.

Once he recovers enough, he heads to the Swordsmith Village not sure what else to do with his sudden idle time.

Yuichirou’s reason for wanting to use the doll was feeling restless being forced to not work. But Yuichirou being more irritable coupled with Kotetsu’s crying reminding him Muichirou made him lose his temper and he snapped at Kotetsu to stop whining.

And then when Tanjirou intervened, his words remind him of something Muichirou and his father would say and made Yuichirou more angry. So he ends up knocking him unconscious.

He avoids Tanjirou for the next couple days due to both this event and not wanting to jinx something. But he remembers something Kyojuro once said to him.

“Let’s do the best we can as Pillars.”

It makes feel guilty since he suspected Rengoku had praise for Tanjirou, so he decides to seek him out. Where he finds he’s close to dying from dehydration training with the dummy thanks to Kotetsu’s teaching methods.

Yuichirou to his own surprise steps in to train Tanjirou (and save him from dehydration). Consciously, it’s because the idea a slayer that survived an Upper Moon dying from dehydration because of a brat with no knowledge of human limits is a stupid way to die.

But the actual reason is because he doesn’t want a kind person like Tanjirou to die like Rengoku. Of course, Yuichirou doesn’t realize this because he still hasn’t come to terms with himself yet.

"Ah.. thank you Tanji-nii" he really loves his step-bro's smile. He blushed for a bit before continued to ate the rest of the meal. He was very thankful to have a very nice, caring, and supportive.

After completed the meal, he looked at his phone. Showing 10.31 pm. He walked behind his brother who was lead him to his room, to be blushed again. On his walk, he remembered that he had a dream before his departure to this city, that Tanjiro doing Kabedon and kissing him so much. His mind then quickly changed when he saw he already in his room.

He then lied on the soft bed. Saw his older brother sitting on the edge. He nods several times while mumbling "mmh!", and a smile as the addition to respond what his brother said. He felt so excited now he will go to the same campus with his old brother.

Following as Tanjirou left the room, he quickly chasing his brother. William's plan nearly got forgotten as he was too excited for tomorrow.

"Nii-san.. hah.. c-can we.. sleep together? I.. miss you a lot" he asked with a bit of hesitation.

Tanjiro was taken aback by your sudden appearance, he was already heading to sleep as well; but at your request, how could he say no?

Sure! He smiles, but then a yawn inevitably escaped his lips. Classes and studying surely have taken a toll on him today.

He makes room for you in his bed, but slumber gets the best of him as, in no time, he drifted off, your lovely face being the last thing he saw.

this summer, me and my brother watched four whole shows. at long last, here is my comprehensive review of all of them!

in the order we watched them, these shows were:

avatar the last airbender (ATLA)

mob psycho 100 (MP100)

demon slayer / kimetsu no yaiba (KNY)

fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood (FMAB)

they were all very very good!

i’m not going to try to rank them, but, as is probably obvious by the state of my blog, my favorite was FMAB :) if i had to pick a least favorite, then, it would probably be KNY—not by any fault of its own, but just because it didn’t appeal to me quite as much as the others. still a very good show!

i will review each show by:

giving a quick plot-based pitch discussing the show’s hook or appeal

discussing one element that i believe it does better than any other show on this list—in other words, a quality that i think it stands out for

discussing one element that didn’t appeal to me or that i had issues with—a criticism

putting forth my favorite character and favorite episode or arc, just for funsies

including various other commentary. mostly positive, as, again, i did really like all of these!

(i’ve tried to make this whole thing free of specific spoilers, but if you’re planning on watching any of these shows and want to go in more-or-less blind, it might be best not to read this.)

first of all, i’d just like to discuss all four of these shows as a whole! it was definitely interesting watching one after another and noting similarities between them.

all of them have siblings in them! which is, perhaps, fitting, as i watched them with my brother

two include a pair of siblings in which one has powers and one doesn’t (at least at first), and part of the narrative involves getting better at using those powers (ATLA, MP100)

two include a narrative centered around a pair of siblings and something tragic that happens to them, resulting in the older one being traumatized and forced to train to become a soldier, and the younger one turning into something (arguably) inhuman. the protagonist’s major goal is to return his younger sibling to the way they were before (KNY, FMAB)

ATLA and FMAB are both fantasy political dramas, which is rapidly becoming a favorite genre of mine

most of these are historical, or historically inspired in some way, which is interesting!

all of these shows are really really good at character building. all the main characters are interesting and complex, and the relationships between those characters are similarly nuanced and very well written. they make you really care about both the protagonists and the side characters!

avatar: the last airbender

pitch: as the ever-growing imperial force of the fire nation threatens the earth and water nations, a kid from the long-lost air nation turns up and it turns out he can control all four elements and he has to save the world and all that. sorry i tried to write this pitch like five times and realized that well at this point i think everyone reading this will know the plot of avatar

stands out for: avatar has possibly the best worldbuilding i have ever seen in a show—it takes the time to introduce us to so many places and aspects of its world, both explicitly and subtly. the main highlight of this is the magic system. by creating a magic system based in body movement, the process of using magic and learning to use/control it better becomes immediately obvious to the viewer. combine that with the philosophy behind each type of bending and the way that characters take bending inspiration from types different than their own, and you’ve got a system that is complex, flexible, believable, internally consistent, and just plain fun! it makes action sequences a blast. i especially liked the moments when bending was stretched to its limits in totally logical ways (metalbending, bloodbending). not to mention the way that bending is seamlessly integrated into the world of avatar! the example that comes to mind is the earthbending-powered transport system of omashu. a whole essay could be written on that topic alone!

criticism: i know this is a sentiment shared by many people, but the first season was kind of boring to me. some of the humor and the plots felt hit-or-miss. of course, it needed to take that time to establish the world, and it does a great job of doing that. it just didn’t hook me until the second season.

favorite character: i love toph she’s so much fun :) iroh is a close second! and zuko is great, too, of course

favorite arc: i loved ba sing se a ton, especially the episode when they get there and everything feels off. it felt so resonant with real life, in a very fun way. there’s a reason “there is no war in ba sing se” is a meme…

other commentary: what can i say? it’s a classic for a damn good reason. the plot is tight, and it does a great job raising tension and introducing new elements and twists. i also love the care put into the antagonists, especially azula, who has a fascinating arc.

mob psycho 100

pitch: a middle schooler and a charismatic con artist team up to smite ghosts using extrasensory powers. thing is, only the middle schooler actually has ESP, and it happens to be really, really powerful. can he navigate the difficult world of middle school while also getting a better grip on his powers—and his bottled-up emotions?

stands out for: the way that MP100 uses animation is excellent. it takes a little getting used to but it’s just so fun, combining all sorts of different techniques to create an experience rich with drama and emotion. it’s playfully exaggerated and self-parodying, adding to the show’s fantastic sense of humor as well as its truly emotional moments.

criticism: the way that ESP works makes suspension of disbelief tricky. it’s a great feat to introduce a character who is essentially all-powerful and still make them interesting (even in fight scenes), but at times (especially the second season finale) it felt like a magic system with too much breadth and too few limitations. this might just be my bias for hard magic systems talking, though.

favorite character: other than mob and reigen? probably teru. he’s loads of fun AND all the season 1 episodes he’s in slap hard

favorite episode: the one where the girl asks mob out on a date as a dare.. it’s super cute

other commentary: thank you mp100 for being the leftist propaganda we all deserve <3

in all seriousness though, this show is a blast!! it does a great job switching between silly and serious in the blink of an eye. i also really appreciate the way that it balances comically huge stakes with much smaller, more personal stories. for example, the conflict between mob and reigen in season 2 is especially well-done. in general the emotions just feel so real? characters whose emotions tie into their powers are an excellent trope, and mob is a wonderful protagonist who exemplifies this really well.

finally, on a more critical note—there are so many characters in this show! and it feels like only a handful are fleshed out? however, this may be due to the fact that it’s not an adaptation of the entire manga (which i haven’t read). there’s a lot more to go! more characters to dive into! so i probably shouldn’t try to critique it in the same way as a finished work.

demon slayer / kimetsu no yaiba

pitch: demons kill a boy’s family and turn his sister into a demon, so he decides to try and figure out a way to turn his sister back into a human. what follows is a demon-killing adventure that’s in equal parts harrowing, poignant, and hilarious.

stands out for: there’s not much i can say about this other than “please just take a look” but the art and design is phenomenal. it does a much better job of integrating 2D and 3D than a lot of other animated series, and overall it is just so so pretty! all the character designs are complex, memorable, and fit the characters perfectly. the color choices are interesting and satisfying. i also really like the sound design? not often that i notice that in a show. i’ve watched so many KNY amvs by now lol it’s just amazing animation

criticism: the narration style leans too heavily towards tell instead of show. this is mostly an issue with the first few episodes, but i got super annoyed by how much the show would narrate every single one of tanjirou’s thoughts instead of letting us infer those thoughts through his actions and reactions—the latter, i think, would have been more emotionally impactful. sometimes silence speaks louder than words! tanjirou was also not the world’s most compelling protagonist in my opinion, though i think that mostly has to do with my own tastes.

favorite character: *holds up zenitsu* I Just Think He’s Neat. i actually kind of lost it when he first used his powers, like… damn i love characters with weird relationships with their magic like that. i also think the narrative about how having a solid foundation is sometimes more important than knowing a ton of different moves was really powerful. and he’s just funny! pathetic boy i love him

favorite arc: really just the whole spider arc. fucked up man… i love it. they pulled off that last twist so well, and all the family stuff was so weird and complex and emotional…

other commentary: it’s just a really solid and very well-written show! the team of tanjirou, zenitsu, and inosuke is so much fun… bro bonding :) i also quite like the horror elements; it’s fucked up but in a good way. finally, this is very specific, but the demon that can alter buildings/rooms through drumbeats? appealed to me very much. it’s a cool and unique power!

fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood

pitch: two kids do some fucked up alchemy and end up getting parts of their body stolen by god. now they’re on a quest to get their bodies back, but find themselves wrapped up in crazy government conspiracies and alchemy more powerful than they ever could’ve imagined…

stands out for: plot. by this i mean less overall concept (though the overall concept is pretty great too), and more that the pacing and progression of the story is extraordinarily tight. for the most part (the first few episodes are a little weak but i’ll let it slide), it does an excellent job establishing its premise and building on it logically, adding layers and layers that extend naturally from what we already know. everything has a reason for happening; everything is revealed in good time and all the twists are super satisfying. there’s great balance between exciting moments and quiet moments. it’s just very good at being a story!

(fun fact: i’m reading the manga right now and so far it’s even better paced than the show, which is super interesting! it’s especially good at how it lays out pieces of the backstory and then fills everything in later in a really satisfying way.)

criticism: this is incredibly specific but it’s what comes to mind as something that bothered me: winry’s character arc was really disappointing. for most of the series she’s a pretty strong character, but in the end it feels like she gets pushed aside, defined only by her relationship with ed. what happened to her wanting to take action more? that was a specific desire she expressed—wanting to be less passive! since she’s such an important character, i wish she could have had more presence in the last season other than as a sounding board for the elric bros’ emotions. (even though her one scene in the last episode was really good and emotional…)

favorite character: other than the elric bros, absolutely ling. he fits into multiple of my favorite character archetypes (fun, silly, bastard, gets possessed…) and he’s just overall a delight. plus his relationship with greed is really really good. bro bonding at its peak!! (my other favorite is pride. i will not say why because spoilers. but if you know me.. you know)

favorite episode: this is really really hard to choose but i’m gonna go with envy’s death because. holy shit.

other commentary: i’m a really big fan of the complex and nuanced way in which FMAB breaks down militaristic, imperial regimes from the inside. many of the characters have done awful things, and the story forces them to grapple with that and accept that all they can do now is be better in the future. the moral complexity is just really good! characters with flaws—we love to see it!

finally, parts of this story seem so so catered to Me Specifically that it’s no wonder i got so into it. like just the entire premise? the way that so much of the conflict is built out of identity crisis and exploring the nature of consciousness and human vs inhuman? beautiful. i love ed and al so much

the reason as to why i will not write for certain characters is mostly because i don’t think i'll do a very good job at writing them. yes, yes, i love Jumin and Hank too, but i'm not confident in my ability to portray them accurately.

and i think we all know why i'm not going to write for Mineta :").

* i am not caught up in the bnha series. i'm an anime watcher, and i'm on the last episode of the 3rd season, so i'm kinda very far behind. i will not write for characters that appear in season 4— excluding Overhaul, of course. i'll write for Kai ;).

** like bnha, i am extremely far behind in demon slayer. i read the manga, and i'm only at chapter 50. however, i know enough about the characters i mentioned up there to write for them. please no spoilers or requests based off of chapters past 50! sorry m'dudes.

*** i have only played Trigger Happy Havoc and Goodbye Despair. i have not completed Goodbye Despair, though! i just will not be writing for Killing Harmony or any other games, and my knowledge will be entirely based on Trigger Happy Havoc and Goodbye Despair.

the reader will be portrayed as gender-neutral unless specified to be female. i will NOT be writing for male readers. i'm really sorry, lads.

lgbtq+ is accepted! in correspondence with the first rule, i will not be writing male x male pairings. while i do support my homo bros, the way the internet has portrayed romantic relationships between two dudes (especially people's fascinations with.... yaoi. *shiver*) has made me extremely uncomfortable in writing them. i love boys who love boys but i just can’t bring myself to write about it, sorry.

i will not be taking requests for scenarios/short fanfics, only headcanons/imagines! i tend to procrastinate and overcomplicate fanfiction to the extremes and it takes me FOREVER to get them done. if i do post fanfics, then they'll be on my own time. i just don’t want to keep you guys waiting!

i will not, under any circumstances, write any nsfw content. i do not feel comfortable with it. i have more lenience with perverted characters like Bloody Mary or Sweet Tofu from Food Fantasy, though.

i will not write for ships between canon characters. this blog is about you and the fictional characters of your dreams ;).

i refuse to write for p*dophilic relationships or anything similar. this does not need an explanation. if i am to write something for a pairing between an adult and a child, then it will be strictly platonic.
