VULNERABILITIES. His heart. His heart is so fucking big. Both physically and mentally. Kaaras has a heart murmur, although you wouldn’t know unless he’s exceptionally stressed or fatigued. It caused a bit of discomfort at times. The anchor will also make him weak over time and hurt him until it is removed. Mentally, Kaaras is a very giving and self sacrificing person with a martyr complex. He also gives the benefit of the doubt to most people, which can bite him on the arse. His family is his biggest weakness, though. He will do anything to protect them and keep them from harm.

May I please as what the Lavellan twins would think of my Inquisitor oc Tash Adaar? He's a twelve year old hedge mage Tal-Vashoth with a sunny disposition and powerful magic, and he likes helping Josephine with paperwork.

Only twelve?! He baby 🥺

(For this I'll go with my OG class variations for the twins - Elaria's first PT was as a Knight-Enchanter, and Da'riel a DW Assassin)

Elaria would be concerned by the burden of such a position being placed upon his youthful shoulders. As the First of Clan Lavellan, she would be intrigued by his talent for magic as well as his culture and thus take it upon herself to take Tash under her wing - training with him at Skyhold whenever they had free time, and researching qunari magic practices and history in the library with Dorian.

Whatever she could to aid his growth both as Inquisitor and as a developing mage, she'd do. As someone with a similarly bright disposition I think they would get along wonderfully, and she could help him maintain that cheer when the going gets rough, either by providing an ear or a shoulder as needed.

Da'riel is a bit wary of mages outside his clan in the beginning, as he better trusts the Dalish to train their young in a free and unbiased environment (to him, caging a person - mage or otherwise, literally or metaphorically - only inspires violence and rebellion, thus putting young mages as well as those around them at worse risk). He'd be cautious, but as one with a soft spot for the innocent and vulnerable, also very protective - though Creators know he'd never admit that's the real reason why he lingers close, keeping a watchful eye. In time he'd warm and probably attempt to teach Tash some self defense, even gift him a small, personally crafted dagger to hide within his belt.

He was also the primary provider for his family and Clan Lavellan's most skilled hunter. As such, he would always ensure they're well stocked and full-bellied when settling into their bedrolls at camp, and keep dried fruits, nuts, berries, and whatever else he could forage upon his person in case Tash needs a boost while they travel.

Basically huge Big Sis and Big Bro vibes all around, the difference being that Elaria would take a heavier mentor and moral support role whereas Da'riel would be the bodyguard and ass-kicker of anyone who looks at Tash wrong. 😂

My Inquisitor OC, Tash Adaar, can't stand the taste or smell of alcohol, but loves the atmosphere of the Herald's Rest, so has to enter through the attic where Cole is.

He’s just up there vibing, i love it! He still hates alcohol after Varric and Hawke took him out drinking that one time right (i think i remember from an answered ask a while ago)? Is Tash good friends with Cole now from walking into his chilling spot so often? Thanks for the ask!

Can drink anyone on the Warden Squad under the table, even Isseya Mahariel who can beat Oghren at drinking. However, she almost never drinks past a comfortable buzz because excess drinking and drunkenness in general gives her terrible memories of her alcoholic mother.

Actually while he’s hard to get to  know in-depth, Noam is pretty friendly, like unless you’re a huge huge dick he’s quite easy to get along with. He’s found out that being agreeable and winning people over is a better survival strategy than not being, and he’s met all sorts of people in his life, so it would be quite gucci on his side. But I can see people getting severely annoyed by his loud personality :’D

Headcanons; Tal-Vashoth

I’ve been writing up headcanons that play around with the culture around Tal-Vashoth culture, and they’ve started influencing how I play the Adaars, so here are some of the main ones. I will note, I’m using Vashoth/Tal-Vashoth as they are used ingame (tal-vashoth is a qunari born in the qun and leaves, vashoth is a qunari born outside of the qun) for simplicity’s sake.

Tal-Vashoth have created a form of Qunlat (called Vashlat by some) that includes words in Qunlat, Rivaini, and Common. A lot like how Esperanto is in our world, Vashlat was created as a universal language for those who came from different settlements (such as Kont-aar) or for those that did not grow up knowing Qunlat. It sounds butchered to someone who spoke Qunlat from birth and has never become Tal-Vashoth, but it is the easiest way for people from the different Qunari settlements to speak to each other.

Because of the change in language, many TV end up naming their children names based in Vashlat (I.e. Salem’s name coming from a Rivaini word meaning safety) rather than the Qunlat names their parents have.

While Tal-Vashoth are the ones who choose their own name, they usually have a handful of nicknames that they will also answer to. These nicknames can be anything from a shortening of their name to a joke or something in Qunlat. (Ataash, Mahvash’s girlfriend, is someone who is constantly answering to different names— some of her favorites are taarebas, vatlok, and Ataashi Antaam; Mahvash generally calls her Tash or Tashi)

Most TV are constantly switching up jobs and shadowing other members of the group to learn more about a certain task. While many still keep their old jobs out of necessity (cooks and bakers, healers, accountants) there still isn’t the same rigid level of staying with it. Others are welcome to watch as long as they aren’t in the way, and many ask questions and learn the basics of multiple jobs out of curiosity.

Ex-Tamassrans are still an integral part of a TV community. They not only help new or expecting mothers understand what they need to know for the future, but also help members struggling to adjust by either mentoring them or finding them a mentor. They no longer help breed the next generation, but they still can see where two people can fit together and lean on each other in times of need, or help nudge two young people together when they are too embarrassed to get together on their own.

Kids are so fucking important to TV, and having a child be born or a kids birthday or them hitting a milestone is usually celebrated by everyone. They’ve spent their entire lives being told that only some of them are fit to be parents, and they’ll be damned if someone else gets to see their kids grow up.

My young Vashoth Inquisitor Tash and Ari - two different sides of the same diplomatic coin. I think they'd be a formidable force together, but might clash on things, as Ari finds purpose in being Inquisitor while Tash fears deeply what will happen when his role is over.

mmm wanna know what makes that even juicyer? Ari's also scared of that but his strategy is to simply Not Thing About It (read: he would hate to see sb else struggle with that bc it'd be harder to ignore) <3

I feel like Taio and my Inquisitor, Tash, don't seem like they get along on paper but they'd be pretty cool. How would Taio feel about a 12 year old orphan mage adaar Inquisitor who likes baking, is cheerful but deathly afraid of being abandoned, and is scarily good at the Game?

I think Taio would be thrilled to spend time with another Vashoth/Tal Vashoth no matter what, especially a younger kid. He came from a large family, but he was one of the youngest in the community and didn’t have any siblings. I’m sure his latent big-brother instinct would kick in.

Being good at the Game would be the only sticking point. Taio thinks the whole concept of Orlesian political intrigue and backbiting is repulsive. He’s a clever person, certainly sophisticated enough to succeed in mercenary business, but after a certain point, the enthusiasm for exploiting people’s weaknesses makes him pretty nauseous.
