Seit ich meinen rewatch Marathon des Münster Tatorts gestartet habe, lässt mich irgendwie der Gedanke an diesen Goldenen Münster Tatort / gmt 50 nicht mehr los.

Ich meine klar, bis dahin sind es sowieso noch etwa 2 Jahre, wenn wir mit den ganz normalen 2 Folgen pro Jahr rechnen. Aber irgendwann wird es soweit sein. Und dann?

Bei so einem großen Jubiläum wird die Folge ja vermutlich auch angemessen ereignisreich werden. Ich rechne mit viel Drama, viel Emotion, von Allem einfach viel viel viel. Und wenn wir das Ganze mal realistisch betrachten, dann würde es ja vermutlich sowieso nicht mehr sooo lange weitergehen, selbst wenn gmt 50 nicht der Letzte wäre.

Axel ist ja bald im Rentenalter, und obwohl man ja logischerweise auch danach weitermachen kann (und ich es jetzt nicht unrealistisch fände einfach zu sagen, Thiel ist halt ein paar Jahre jünger als Axel), halte ich es doch für unwahrscheinlich, dass Axel dann noch viel länger weitermachen wollen würde.

Naja, und anstatt dann eben einfach bei irgendeiner Folge aufzuhören, wenn man keine Lust mehr hat, geht man dann doch lieber mit einem großen Knall. Going out with a bang. Oder?

Und irgendwie macht mir der Gedanke etwas Angst, was da so auf uns zukommen könnte. Spätestens seit Nadeshda wissen wir ja, dass auch im Münsteraner Team gestorben werden kann. Und in meinem Kopf tun sich dann sehr viele erschreckende Szenarien auf, à la hurt no comfort, major character death, grief, funerals um mal so in ao3 tags zu sprechen.

Ich hoffe auf ein happy end, egal wann der TM dann schlussendlich das Zeitliche segnen wird. Würde ja auch irgendwie zu Münster passen, ganz ganz viel Drama und am Ende wird immer irgendwie alles gut. Ich wünschte nur, ich könnte dieses schlechte Bauchgefühl hinsichtlich dessen loswerden.

So, das war jetzt viel Angst und wenig konstruktiv, aber ich musste mir das mal von der Seele schreiben. Bin immerhin fast durch mit meinem rewatch, und da kommen dann schon mal einige Gefühle hoch :D Falls irgendjemand anderes Gedanken dazu haben sollte, dann würde ich die auf jeden Fall gerne hören. Ansonsten bleibt ja sowieso nur abwarten und Tee trinken :)

Tatort has no business being this gay. I'm not talking about the newer teams like Saarbrücken because I get that the ARD finally realised a huge group of people are watching Tatort for the gay feels.

I'm talking about the older teams, just some random examples

München 1991: First ep shows one of their girlfriends, only to show her thirdwheeling against Franz and Ivo's unbreakable bond and insane chemistry from day one

Stuttgart 2008/2009: In one of the first episodes Sebastian and Thorsten get mistaken for gay, and don't even deny it

Münster 2002: Boerne is written like the manic pixie dream girl who is going to brighten up Thiel's life, they even have a meet-cute straight out of a rom com

Like why is a famous German cop show watched every Sunday so gay? I'm not complaining, but it doesn't make sense. It's not even subtext is just text

Do you know how many times I have tried to convince my friends who want a show with gay couples to watch Tatort, the show their parents watch, and they think I've gone crazy...That's how much this doesn't make any sense!

Hi! Non-german here. I have no idea what the usual viewership rate is of other tatort episodes. Is the viewership of this episode a big deal? I mean, 9.5 million people!!! Is Saarbrucken one of the popular ones among the rest of Tatort teams?

[translation in alt] well as you can see, usually there’s about 8.something million viewers that have been watching the Tatort episodes in recent years, which means the 9.5 Million edit: 9.05 million are quite a few more… It’s not the most popular one tho:

So in general less people watch the Tatort episodes and also the Tatort Saarbrücken (Spatort) episodes got less and less viewers over the years:

now 9.5 edit: 9.05 doesn't match the 10.44 million of 2020 but it is an improvement considering it's been going down in general and also Tatort Saarbrücken specific.

The impressive thing (as I've understood it) is the market share they reached, which refers to the percentage of households that watched this show, measured against the total number of households who were watching television at that specific time. Tatort Saarbrücken reached 30,2% which means out of all the programs that were broadcasted more than 1/4 were watching Spatort at that time. (Which again is higher than the average (28.6%), but still not as high as the most popular Tatorte) (It's also the highest Tatort Saarbrücken reached in 30 years)

What may also be impressive is that the city Saarbrücken is rather "small" (with 167,1 km² and a population of 178.151) and still reaches this high of a viewership... compare that to the other popular Tatort cities Münster (302,9 km², 314.319), Köln (405,2 km², 1,086 Million), Stuttgart (207,4 km², 634.830), München (310,7 km², 1,472 Million) and Dresden (328,8 km², 554.649)

now I hope I answered your questions the way you wanted/needed me to (and I also hope I didn't get all the stuff wrong since I don't watch the other Tatorte and don't really know how the whole viewership/market share works)

Bitte was!? 😵Wo haben sie denn die ganzen Infos über Thiels Mutter hergezaubert? Hab ich das all die Jahre verpasst? Dass er bis zu seinem Umzug nach Münster fast keine Kontakt zu seinem "Vaddern" hatte, ist ja bekannt. Aber das ist mir hier neu.

Gut, hätte man alles zwischen den Zeilen rauslesen können. Also, dass er bei ihr aufgewachsen ist und dass sie tot ist. 😑 Aber jetzt hätte ich schon gern noch mehr Infos! Da steht "zurück nach Münster". Ist er also da geboren? Erscheint mir abwegig irgendwie. 🤔 Wie alt war er bei der Scheidung? Woran ist die Mutter gestorben und ist er direkt danach nach Münster? Werde ich wohl heute bei der Wiederholung von "Der dunkle Fleck" gut aufpassen müssen, was man daraus ziehen kann.

Okay stell dir vor, du rutschst aus Versehen ins Tatort Fandom. Whatever, es ist 2020, du bist desorientiert im ersten Corona-Lockdown, es sind schon seltsamere Dinge passiert. Und da sind sie dann plötzlich, deine Blorbos, mit unverschämt viel chemistry, und hey, du weißt, worauf du dich einlässt, es ist Tatort, nicht die Revolution des deutschen Fernsehens. Aber es ist überraschend gut? Und die Chemistry. Die ist halt schon. Also zu dem Punkt, dass deine Boomer-Verwandten sie sehen können und sich fragen, was da abgeht. Und dann sagt ein Schauspieler auch noch was in nem Interview, so Andeutungen. Und naja, du willst dir keine Hoffnungen machen, aber... vielleicht ein bisschen?

Und du verfolgst das Filmen mit, und du wartest gespannt. Komisch, denkst du, dass das so lange dauert, bis es ausgestrahlt wird. Und du schaust, wie andere Leute im Tatort-Fandom ihre Fälle kriegen. Münster. Stuttgart. München. Klar, gönnst du ihnen, aber vielleicht bist du auch ein bisschen neidisch. Wieso dauert das denn bei deinen Blorbos so lang? Monate vergehen. Und plötzlich: ein Announcement! Ein neuer Tatort mit deinem Team! Aber halt, was ist das?? ... Warte, nur einer von deinen Blorbos spielt in dieser Folge mit? Es spielt in einer anderen Stadt? Dein Blorbo hat einen komplett random hetero love interest? Und dein anderer Blorbo wird nicht mal erwähnt? Hm. Ja okay. Scheiße gelaufen. Denken wir nicht mehr drüber nach. Irgendwann müssen sie ja auch noch die Folge ausstrahlen, wo deine Blorbos zusammen drin sind.

EIN JAHR. Ein Jahr nach dem Filmen dieser Folge wird sie ausgestrahlt, mehr als ein Jahr sogar und du fragst dich warum. Du siehst andere Leute im Fandom, die von einem Fall pro Jahr leben müssen, und du fragst dich, ob die wohl genauso leiden wie du. Die Folge wird ausgestrahlt, und sie ist schlecht. Das ist der Lauf der Dinge als Tatort-Fan, und all deine Hoffnung, neue Leute für deine Blorbos zu begeistern, ist dahin. Deine Blorbos interagieren kaum in dieser Folge. Sie ermitteln allein vor sich hin, all die Lore und die Chemistry aus den vorigen Folgen nutzlos, wenn sie sich kaum einen Screen teilen dürfen.

Egal, nach vorne schauen. Neuigkeiten über einen Drehstart stimmen dich etwas milder. In diesem Fall spielen definitiv beide mit, es gibt vielversprechende Promofotos. Es ist November 2022. Und du wartest.

Ein Jahr vergeht. Ein ganzes Jahr. Die Folge feiert zwischendurch Premiere beim Oldenburger Filmfestival, aber immer noch kein Termin zur Ausstrahlung im Fernsehen in Sicht. Und dann - ein Google News Alert. Dein Tatort! Deine Blorbos! Endlich wirst du die Folge sehen, die laut der Kritiken vom Filmfest sogar ganz gut sein soll!!

Aber halt - was ist das? Kein Ausstrahlungstermin, sondern ein neuer Drehstart? ... Warte, nur einer von deinen Blorbos spielt in dieser Folge mit? ... Es spielt in einer anderen Stadt?

Du bereust den Tag, an dem du in dieses Fandom gerutscht bist und wünschst dir, du würdest nichts fühlen. Herzlichen Glückwunsch, so fühlt es sich an, ein Tatort Göttingen Fan zu sein.

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers

I'm very excited you tagged me in this, @all-my-worlds-a-stage and @fallingforfandoms! I really enjoy reading the answers from all of you.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

109, which makes around 12 stories per year. Fun fact!

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

360,182, which is about the total word count of C.S. Lewis’ seven-book Chronicles of Narnia series. Fun fact #2!

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Mostly Tatort Münster. Like 99.9 % mostly. I think I have only one story posted on AO3 for a different fandom (Knives Out), though I don’t post everything I write. As you might have guessed from my recent content on this blog, I’ve also started a fic for Good Omens. We will see if I will finish it, let alone post it.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Unsurprisingly, the fic for Knives Out has the most Kudos. Less niche than the other ones :)

Tonight Will be a Memory Too – Knives Out, Benoit Blanc/Phillip It's part of Evelyn's job at the musical theater to talk to guests. Once in a while, she gets to meet truly fascinating people. A glimpse into Benoit's and Phillip's life through the eyes of an outsider.

Ein Leben lang daheim – Tatort Münster, Thiel/Boerne Auf der Fortbildung, die sie besuchen, gibt es einen Coronafall und Thiel und Boerne müssen präventiv zwei Wochen lang in Quarantäne.

Schnee von gestern – Tatort Münster, Thiel/Boerne, co-written with Tjej Es wird Rum gemacht und es wird rumgemacht.

Tauchen ist wie Fliegen unter Wasser – Tatort Münster, Thiel/Boerne Im Münsteraner Schwimmbad kommt vor hunderten von Zuschauern eine junge Frau ums Leben. Doch die Ermittlungen gestalten sich für Thiel nicht nur aufgrund der widersprüchlichen Hinweise als schwierig …

Zuhause – Tatort Münster, Thiel/Boerne, co-written with Tjej Thiel ließ ihn gar nicht erst ausreden. Auch wenn das für ihn vielleicht ungewöhnlich war, aber er hatte sich eigentlich schon Pläne für die Feiertage gemacht. „Danke für das Angebot, aber ich wollte mal wieder nach Hause fahren.“

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes, I do! I try to answer every single one, even if it might take me a while to do so. Comments mean a lot to me and I appreciate when someone takes the time to write one. I'm especially fond of those short comment conversations, and the interaction with like-minded people. I made some friends that way.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't write a lot of angst and if I do, there will probably be at least a comforting ending. One of my rare fics, if not the only one, with angst throughout is Alles (Tatort Münster, Thiel & Boerne with hints of possible slash). Even after several years, I still like this one a lot.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Well, what exactly does happiest mean, right? The great majority of my fics end with two people getting together, a storyline that tends to be quite happy in itself. One fic I consider to have a very happy ending where there is no direct romance to the plot is Ein Tännlein aus dem Walde (Tatort Münster). It's with almost everybody on the team, so a lot of Found Family feelings. I guess the Christmas theme, the high spirits of everybody and this feeling of... content make this a very happy fic to me.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I can't remember any hate, so I guess this is a No.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Depends on the fic but sometimes I do. I've written explicit and less explicit stuff alike. It's been a while since I last wrote something explicit, though.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

No, I've never written a crossover. I rarely read them, too.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

If so, I haven't noticed.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

None that I know of.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

As it becomes clear through my top fics: Yes, several and in different ways! I've co-written some fics where we took turns in writing, some where one person wrote the beginning and the other person completed the story, some where we brainstormed together and one person wrote most of it by themselves. I really enjoy writing with another person! The discussions, different ideas and chances to read parts I haven't written keep me excited about the story. It's like a series of prompts!

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

I would have to lie to say that it wasn't Thiel/Boerne from Tatort Münster. They were the first ship I can remember shipping (apart from Ernie and Bert, maybe) and even though I don't agree with everything done in the canon, I hold them close to my heart.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I once started writing a Groundhog-Day-inspired fic for Tatort Münster where Boerne relives the same day over and over again and thinks it's about a murder case when it's actually about, shocked noises, love. The idea is still interesting to me but I doubt I will find the motivation to properly plot this.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Something that comes relatively easy to me and what people tend to highlight in their comments is the dialogues I write. I think they're what I like best about many of my stories.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I'm not good at writing quickly, as I tend to overthink. And it’s difficult for me to keep the right tempo of telling the story, and having a conclusive story arch, especially in long fics. I sometimes feel like I randomly elaborate on parts of the fic rather than actually think about it.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

If it suits the story, why not. I don’t think I have done it yet, though.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Tatort Münster :)

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

This one is hard. Of course, my writing style changed over the years (developed, I should hope) but I still feel very fond of most of my stories. If I absolutely have to pick a favorite, it might be Tauchen ist wie Fliegen unter Wasser (Tatort Münster, Thiel/Boerne). It took me about five years to finish this story and I am proud of all the love and work I put into it. Coming up with the murder crime, making it interesting and connecting it to the romance of Thiel and Boerne was challenging, and I am happy with how it turned out. The fic still means a lot to me.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

These days it’s mainly Tatort. And I guess I should also mention Star Trek, even though it’s been a couple of years. And then there’s the odd TV show or movie that somehow piqued my interest, plus stuff like Harry Potter and Sherlock back in the day. But my main fandom, and the one I feel most at home in, is definitely Tatort. 

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Apart from the number 1 spot, these were actually quite surprising to me.

Past, Present and Beyond: Star Trek: AOS (Post-Star Trek Beyond), Kirk/Spock - Spock retrieves the box that contains the belongings of Ambassador Spock and carefully puts it on his desk.

Über Nacht Bleiben: Tatort Münster, Thiel/Boerne - Boerne findet, man kann nachts ruhig in einem Bett schlafen. Um nicht so allein zu sein.

Grün und richtiges Grün: Tatort Münster, Thiel/Boerne - „Das kann Ihnen doch völlig egal sein, mit wem ich…“ Boerne verstummte und starrte ihn aus seinen grünen Augen an. „Ist mir aber nicht egal“, sagte Thiel.

Er hätte glücklich sein können. Aber es war ihm alles zu viel. Zu viele Menschen, zu viele Gespräche, zu viele Eindrücke. Und zu viel Boerne. Sie waren doch mal sowas wie Freunde gewesen. Warum hatten sie das kaputt machen müssen?

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Oh, absolutely. I love reading comments and the least I can do is say thanks when people take the time to write one. It’s also always fun to talk more about an aspect of the fic or a character, and I love when I suddenly find myself talking to people outside of the comment section. Fandom’s supposed to be about community, after all.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I tend to write happy endings. But I guess Manchmal hört sie heimlich zu (Tatort Münster, Wilhelmine Klemm/Monika Hanke-Helmhövel) and In Vino Veritas (Tatort Münster, Thiel/Boerne & Klemm/Krusenstern) have the angstiest endings I’ve ever written. They’re both Hurt No Comfort and Unrequited Love.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I guess, all of my other fics have rather happy endings. I don’t actually think there is a happiest.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Haven’t in ages. As I said, the Tatort fandom is nice <3 But some of the Harry Potter and Sherlock people were… intense. A couple of times people told me a fic was alright, but I should’ve written for another ship, which isn’t hate, of course, but why? And then there was this one time some biphobic asshole complained about me writing a character as bisexual ¯\_(ツ)_/¯   

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do. The explicit kind. Sometimes it serves a purpose in a story, sometimes it’s just for the fun of it.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Do crossovers between different Star Trek shows or between different Tatort teams count as proper crossovers? If so, I’ve actually written quite a few of them. If not, then the only ones I’ve written were back in the day with a Harry Potter fandom friend. We used to take our favourite characters from all sorts of media, plus our self-insert OCs and send them off on all kinds of adventures together.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don’t think so.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, but I know that people have used Google Translate in order to read my German language fic for a French movie.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yep, see question 10. Also, @fallingforfandoms and I are currently working on a Tatort AU together, which is very exciting.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

I don’t actually know. It varies. But Kirk/Spock, Janeway/Crusher, Thiel/Boerne and Klemm/Lürsen will always be among my favourites.  

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I’ve got the beginnings of a Star Trek Bake Off AU somewhere. I still love the idea, but right now I can’t really imagine that I will ever continue writing it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Oh boy, maybe my readers would be better at answering this question. I like to think that I’m quite alright at writing dialogue. But maybe that’s because it's what I find most enjoyable and what often comes to me fairly easy.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I feel that my writing sometimes lacks description or insights into a character between dialogue. And I’m not that good with longer stories. Plotting is hard for those, especially for crime shows, when you want to incorporate the crime aspect. And I am a slow writer.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

If it fits the story, sure. So far, I’ve mainly used dialect rather than a completely different language.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Technically, Star Trek in 5th grade or so. But I didn’t know that I was writing fanfic or what a fandom even was. First thing I published was for Harry Potter, and first thing I published on AO3 was for Tatort Münster.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

I’m bad at choosing favourites. It would depend on my mood, I guess. Right now, if I absolutely had to pick one, I’d probably go with In Vino Veritas, which might be strange, since it’s a rather short one and doesn’t have a happy ending. But I just like it.
