19 March 2020 | I’ve been rather quiet lately, but here is a little glimpse into what “social distancing” looks like for me. It just so happened that this was the first semester of my program that I was doing almost entirely by distance anyway so remarkably little has changed for me in how I do my coursework. I’m thankful for how little the present pandemic has disrupted my education and know that very few can say the same. My husband, who was until a couple of days ago in the midst of his clinical rotations for medical school in a nearby emergency department, has been much more directly affected and involved in combating the current outbreak. Join me in praying for our entire world—as no one is unaffected by this virus—for when one suffers we all suffer together, recognizing the value and dignity of every human being be they near or far.

O Master and Lord, our Savior, Healer of all, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow.

ahhhhh i miss that show too, absolutely loved it!! the new season of peaky blinders just came out, so maybe that? or mindhunter?

hello everyone! my name is val and, although i’ve had this blog for a while now, only recently have i decided i will start posting original content and join the studyblr community. below this intro post i have reblogged tons of references and resources for my current and future studies, but i hope to be able to make posts like this in the future, as well as create some aesthetics with my own study materials and notes.

about me:

- my name is val

- i am sixteen years old (close to seventeen)

- senior in high school

- entj, slytherin/ravenclaw (i have been told to fit the categories of both!), type cd (disc test), enneagram type 1, and a libra

- from the united states

academic interests:

- looking to major in biological sciences, focusing on genetics and molecular biology

- extremely interested in natural and human sciences, but also passionate about history

- languages: i love having the ability to communicate with others from around the globe. my current focus languages are arabic and french, though i continue to study german, russian, and mandarin chinese (as well as some asl on the side)

- mythology (not just greek- i study myths from across the globe and i particularly love the myths from ancient mesopotamia and egypt).

- genealogy and ancestry is also something extremely personal to me. as i continue to grow i am trying to learn more about my family’s culture, backgrounds, and past as they came from so many different countries and places

- reading (fiction and non-fiction!) and writing! at the time of posting this i am currently reading i am malala by malala yousafzai

- film: i have quite a few favorite shows/movies including orange is the new black, breaking bad, avatar: the last airbender, game of thrones, and avengers: infinity war (and the majority of other marvel cinematic universe movies)

- i love the sidemen (british youtuber group) and they are basically the only youtubers i actually watch

goals & why studyblr?

- i chose to make this intro post and studyblr to motivate both myself and others online to continue pursuing their interests. finding something i am passionate about only kickstarted my future, but continuing along with motivation and work ethic only pushed me forward. i look forward to inspiring and/or helping others as much as i can, and perhaps we can work together to build up our motivations with each other

Hello! I thought it was about time I made one of these so voilà! If you’re wondering who the heck you followed, wait no further :)

About me

My name’s Sabrina, I’m 21

I’m currently a senior in college (class of 2020)

I will be going to graduate school this fall for philosophy! I’m very excited :)

I live in the states, specifically the south

I’m a virgo/INTJ/slytherin

I speak english and some french, I can understand Japanese but can’t really speak it well

I play violin (my second major is in music)

I’m starting to get back into reading by listening to audiobooks (current read is the Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman)

Would like to start learning German but also finally sit down and learn how to speak coherently in Japanese

I’m into tarot but astrology kind of freaks me out

Why a studyblr?

I really like the studyblr community and how supportive everyone is of each other despite having their own separate niche. I also really appreciate the gradblrs who share advice because it has been an immense help to me during my own application process. I told myself that I would do the same, in sharing advice/resources, if I ever got into graduate school for philosophy. I thought it would be an especially good thing to do since I haven’t really been able to find any active philosophy gradblrs. Most of what I’ve taken and learned from here have been from the humanities gradblrs in general.

• Nickname: people call me Yuki cause my Japanese tutor gave me that name and it’s the one I have on all my sns accounts.

• Zodiac sign: capricorn sun, scorpio rising and libra moon. Wow. Maybe a bad combo, but trust me I make it work 🤣

• Height: 160cm

• Languages spoken: Spanish, Catalan, English, Italian, Japanese and Korean (regarding these last two...I’m trying).

• Nationality: Spanish

• Favorite season: Spring 🌸

• Favorite flower: I have several fav flowers. Forget-me-nots, poppies, hibiscus, sunflowers, they’re all so beautiful!

• Favorite scent: okay so once I bought this body mist from a brand called Rituals and it smelled of sweet orange and cedar wood. It smelled absolutely heavenly so I guess that one plus jasmine’s fragrance are my favourites.

• Favorite color: I love almost all colours but I think my fav would be... a soft indigo? Sorry if that was awkwardly specific lol.

• Favorite animal: Probably cats and elephants.
