One more stained glass study for today's daily doodle. Mostly because I wanted another dark piece to balance yesterday's work, but also because I wanted to work with some of the panels from the Windrow-Ravenswood Deck since I wanted to prove to myself that I can draw those traditionally (and thus tattoo them) instead of just digitally collaging them.

I did a stick n poke in some silicon fake skin yesterday and this is how it turned out :D

I definitely want to practice more but this was my first time ever using fake skin, and it’s been years since I did another stick n poke at all. So not too shabby I think! The drawing is my own original as well, which im trying to get into more (doing flash-type drawings, with the intention of being a tattoo versus just doodling for fun)

Finally tried my hand at a glitter tattoo!

This was made by packing in dark to mid tones from the outside going in, leaving empty skin in the lightest areas, and then layering all of it with dark to mid tones of stippling, culminating in vibrant whites in the most intensely-lit spots, creating a "glitter" effect! I've always wanted to try this kind of tattoo, it does require a bit of tedium to get all those little dots in there, but it was so much fun to watch it all come together.

Big thanks to my coworker who was willing to be my guinea pig 🤣❤️ I'm definitely not a stranger to doing color tattoos, but the process of applying the glitter effect definitely made it into more of a mental exercise; I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out nonetheless!

I'm not sure yet if I'll actually start offering glitter style tattoos on a regular basis, the catch is waiting and seeing how it heals over time. The white is likely to lose its vibrancy after some time and the colors will start to "move" outwards as the skin heals and changes which will affect the appearance of the "glitter". I figure these kinds of pieces will require well-trained aftercare (I would not recommend getting one as your first tattoo until you have experience healing up color pieces!!!) and will likely need touch-ups down the road depending on how the color fades and the whites disappear.

All in all, it's a very fun technique that results in a gorgeous finish, but if I do start offering them (after a few more test runs for sure) I'll be encouraging my clients to be well-informed on both aftercare and long term expectations - get one at your own risk!!! 🙏❤️

One of the exercises my mentor has me to is to trace lines. Here I’m using a regular bic pen which we’ve attached to a coil machine, which I then turn on while I draw. Working against the weight and vibrations strengthens the muscles in my hand! 💪🏻

And another floral for another daily doodle

Why? Because once, back when the days were young and the nights were deep, there was a girl and a tower, and brushes and papers and most importantly, a locked door. And the girl believed the door would stay locked until she drew one perfect flower.

So she drew and she painted. And she sketched. And one became a hundred became a thousand flowers. Became a thousand thousand. Became so many it felt the tower would collapse from the weight of all the paper flowers.

But the girl got bored. And started adding. A flower became a flower being touched by a brush. Became a hand holding a brush painting a flower. Became another girl, in another tower, painting and drawing flower after flower after flower. Became a thousand thousand girls in towers painting flower after flower after flower when all the girl needed was someone with flowers for her instead. Or to simply try the door and find out it was unlocked the whole time.

Wanted to share my tattoo progress! These were all done through various points in my apprenticing, but are the ones I'm most proud of so far.

If you are in the GTA, and would like to keep an eye on for when I start taking on clients, my tattoo account can be found HERE !

I hope to learn colour in the future, and would love to do more humanoid cartoon and anime characters, especially custom pieces for people!

It's also important to me to provide an inclusive space for alternative tattoo fans and most importantly queer and femme people, as I've personally had weird experiences as a queer femme person in tattoo spaces. I am extremely thankful for the shop I've been accepted into as they also value these same ideals and I can't wait to be doing this full time with such a great team!
