Went to more ghost towns/ abandoned places and did some more bone hunting!! All the smaller ones are mostly from owl pellets BUT the cat skull which I’m very excited about was in an old hayloft which was kinda spooky to get into!

A squirrel passed away in our yard a while ago, so I took the unfortunate opportunity to preserve some of their parts. They probably passed from heat exhaustion, since it was when we were having a pretty bad heatwave this past summer where I live. They also didn’t seem to have any injuries or anything visibly wrong with them, either.
I cut the paws and tail off of the squirrel and buried the rest of the body for the bones later. I tried using borax instead of salt for drying them this time, since I happened to have more of it than salt. The tail isn’t here because I think it needs a bit longer in the borax.
I wrapped three of the paws in some brown fabric and yarn on the area where the cut was made, because they looked kinda icky with the exposed ends. One of them didn’t need the wrapping as much though, because the fur happened to closed well around the cut part. ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ ♡✧*:･˚₊·

check it out! this is a roadkill raccoon i picked up a few days ago! I've felt around its head and from what it feels like, only the lower mandible is broken. I'll get a better look at the damage when i get around to skinning it & ill post more pictures then too. definitely gonna salt dry the paws! i wanna do something with that tail too :)
ill also get a better look at it's hide & if it isnt too damaged maybe i could make a pelt out of it. and as always, i will macerate the bones:D

As we get into Halloween season, this is your periodic reminder that pretty much all the bat parts that you find for sale are from unsustainable, unethical sources (secondhand is better, but even then they initially came from bad sourcing.) Just because it's legal doesn't make it right.

"The hideously mutated, two-headed Radstag is a pathetic creature that will likely run at the first sign of contact. But if forced to fight, it can prove a deadly opponent." ~ Fallout 4
The two-headed, erratic deer beast is complete!
I had fallen in love with the design of this creature in the Fallout games and knew it was past time for me to make a two-headed deer...however, I didn't want any generic two headed deer on my walls.
I had originally planned on this project making it's debut in January of this year, but timing and delays in materials got the best of me.
Two whitetail capes were used in the creation of this monstrosity as well as a set of young Scottish Red Stag antlers for the inner antlers, and slightly larger American Elk antlers for the outer antlers. The inner eyes of both the heads is blind. The teeth are actually cast in resin from a particular Anatolian Shepherd's mouth due to the wickedly funny tooth formation.
All pieces and parts were acquired ethically and sustainably.

Here's something you don't see every day - a donkey skeleton giving birth!
Tragically, the donkey and it's offspring passed while giving birth. Toby Boch, our articulator, has reassembled the pair of skeletons how they were found.
We decided to immortalize this snapshot of life (and death) as a permanent exhibit for our museum.
