TAZ Eathersea ep 43 thoughts
Amber. What the fuck. I love the vibe. I get it, but damn okay alright. Time to fuck up the next world's ecosystem. Hot girl shit I guess.
Griff you absolute genius. Having Devo be the voice to get everyone to the water. And adding in your Devo flare I like it. Hope this doesn't break the timeline.
Zoox is finally a collective. Yet still knows who he is. I love this for them, yet sad he might be gone forever. If they do retire him, I hope there is a point I'm future seasons of Eathersea in which the sentient tower is at least a lore thing.
One more episode I'm already crying that it'll be over.

One person I simply cannot wait for the next appearance of is definitely Dr. (it’s either Shaq or Jacques, as in renowned marine explorer Jacques Cousteau). Socially awkward pufferfish boi my beloved🐡
(I'm guessing it's Shaq) the fact that justin had to sit griffin down and inform him that there was a 100% chance the boys were going to be attached to him bodes well for his eventual return and i too look forward to that day

HEY SO ETHERSEA SPOILERS AND WHATEVER
It's interesting to me that people are seeing The Sallow as "fantasy COVID" because my brain immediately was like "oh it's a biological weapon, possibly even a heretical 'cure' someone made to try and make the world ready to live in the ocean, but regardless the Sallow Spore was made by Someone and I'm very interested in seeing who it was, and I wonder if we'll even get the Why"

Amber and the Hand of Guidance have the same color hair.
And it doesn't matter -not really- not when it's a pretty common hair color to have. Or. Being a readhead isn't exactly common, but one could say having fish parts isn't exactly common either. But there's plenty of people walking around looking like fish today. So it's totally normal. Honestly, it's pretty funny, thinking about it- of course his new coworker whomst he sees as a pseudo-mother figure (or maybe deranged aunt? Fun cousin? He isn't quite sure) should have the same color hair as the person who raised him, nurtured him, turned him into who he is now.
And for the most part he doesn't care. It's hair. He's more worried about how both of his friends seem to just run headlong into danger without a care for their own lives. He cares about how Amber closes herself off to the world, how she treats him like he's some stupid kid for having feelings, and it makes him-
It makes him angry. But he keeps himself in check. But each jab, each cut, leaves him flinching and wishing he'd just shut his damn mouth before he ever fucking opened it.
"I've heard- I've heard just about all I need outta you tonight, thank you," Amber doesn't even look at him when she says it. She just keeps looking forward as she let's Orleen leave like a traitor, and can't she at least give him that decency? Devo doesn't even have time to think, he blinks and he's back in the cloister- alone, scared, pleading for Guidance to quit ignoring me please it's not funny! I'll listen next time please-
And then he closes his eyes and he's...gone
Or. Back. And that fiery red almost shocks him, but he'd know that messy-on-purpose "I'm so busy with my students to take care of myself" look that Guidance liked to put on.
"Now Devotion, you know what I said at the start of this lesson. I don't want to do this, but you need to learn."

Man you know what would be cool? If the Nat 1 that Clint rolled made the Vanguard return. Like how awesome would it be for them to be antagonists since they stole a bunch of shit and left during the quiet year, kidnapped Phineas and stole more shit, ended up killing Phineas and then mysteriously disappeared after something attacked them.
All I'm saying is having Vanguard Skeleton Pirates would be pretter baller to fight

Dang. The extinction of Blink Sharks, for real this time. Why was this so emotional for me? And Zoox didn't even try to rationalize with them..

Ethersea ep 41:
Devo really tried his best. And I'll admit I almost hated him for it, but he remembered what happened last time they saw Orlean. He only wanted to protect them and himself.
Griffin fully letting Amber and Zoox catch up no rolls needed for the bit will forever be my favorite. Also I thought Kodira was maybe a hallucination or illusion at first because Griffin didn't fully say she walked in I was worried (maybe she still is because she held back, plotting something???)
I know a lot happened with Orlean, and it's all interesting. The time warp, the messages from the coral spires, his tone message and potential communica with the past, but I'm going to hold of for now on that. It's a lot to take in.
More on Amber and the coral people. Just what does Griffin have planned.
And lastly. A Coral Dragon. That assembly description was pretty cool. I almost thought a Coral Orlean was going to be made. Nope time for a boss monster.

Re-listening to Ethersea Ep 40, I have more questions (which hopefully get answered in ep 41).
What's up with this undersea highway the bleached coral want to make. That's suspicious.
I can't believe I forgot about Dylan. Hopefully he doesn't wreck the coriolis.
I really enjoy the imagery of Amber's new fists making mine explosion like impacts seeing as how it was surrounded by mines.
What is the bleached corals whole deal for reals.

I honestly feel a little weirded out by that little argument that happened at the start of this ep. It felt kinda forced and out of the blue. I know there was a bit of tension last episode, but nothing that signaled this big of a spat. It seems like something talked about outside of play that they tried to push at the start here. Then the beholder saying hey get your shit together also felt weird. I dunno. I still kinda liked this episode but it wasn't great imo

I wonder If the statue in this week's episode could be the 4 arm woman the blink sharks were referring too or of it was Amber the whole time...

I think the one thing that is missing from TAZ as a whole (minus the acquisition of the flaming poisoning raging sword of doom) is the lack of making a DM regret putting in something based on the fact you've now spun it to your advantage.
Prime example Ep 39 of Eathersea. They found this "statue" and sure it gave Amber stronger punches because I'm assuming the chosen one found it. But instead imagine-
"I want to mark these coordinates down and sell the info to the Curitor as the location of a potentially ancient statue for a good sum of money"
These moments of potential Griffin regret would be good content.
