People have mentioned this before but the concept of TAZ...especially Balance...its so funny to me because it all started as a silly MBMBAM special that shifted into its own series with its own fandom with angst and pain and lore and memory loss and sadness and you get really deep into theory and darkness then you remember that one of the character's names is Barry Bluejeans.

i've always been team "taakitz adopts angus" and listening to imbalance did not change that (angus would be in his early 20s by then, it makes perfect sense that he's not home right now + empty nest syndrome fits in very well with taako's whole dissatisfaction deal)

what it did do, after seeing how kravitz interacts with taako's friends and family, is enlighten me to the fact that *kravitz* was actually the one to initially propose bringing out the adoption paperwork, rather than taako

Thinking about Magnus and Kravitz's friendship again and it is,, VERY good. Magnus (repeatedly) texting Kravitz asking about cooking stuff while trying Taako's magazine recipes (which he reads every issue of) and Kravitz lying to him about liking it because he doesn't have the heart to tell him his cooking is awful. Being comfortable enough with each other that Magnus can just show up at their house unannounced and it's considered normal for them. The fact that they're close enough on their own terms that Magnus knows EXACTLY what kind of dog Kravitz would fall in love with. Really makes the original scene in Balance where Magnus dies hit harder, calling each other old friends and joking about Kravitz's job feels so much more impactful after really getting to see them be friends, even if only for a few episodes

SO taz imbalance????? I’m already in love. Anyway I think it’s actually incredibly sweet how Mags is trying to learn about Taako and Merle’s stuff. Also incredibly in character! He had a whole arc about learning to be a rouge from Carey! I love that 10 years on and during leisure time he keeps that same interest in his friends and desire to learn and that respect for what they do. 11/10 bit tbh.

listening to taz imbalance for the first time and.

you know those times when someone covers a song and they knock it outta the park so hard that everyone's like "well that's their song now" (ie johnny cash with 'hurt', whitney houston with 'i will always love you', etc.)

that's how i feel hearing aabria play kravitz. like that's her character now. to me.

like griffin did a good job creating him and i really liked kravitz in balance. but aabria playing him is just a whole new level of delightful and i absolutely LOVE kravitz in imbalance.

You ever think about how Kravitz Nightstrider, The Grim Reaper and Hunter of The Risen Dead, and his paramour Jocasta Nightstrider, once one of the Seven Saviours of the Universe turned Fate-Defying Warrior, sound like they would be such cool fucking characters.

And then you listen to the series and they're both absolute fucking dorks who use dumb stupid fake accents that they're both really into for the other person and they bicker about doing the dishes and they have a fluffy little pomeranian together and they fell in love over tentacle hentai and drunk pottery class and have been happily together for over 10 years as of the sequel. And they're one of the best fictional couples in existence also

ok honestly when i think about TAZ, which i've never watched/listened to, i think about jocasta nightstrider immediately because of you and now you're saying they're NOT WELL KNOWNNN ?? this is wild to me

Anon this is genuinely so funny and delighting to hear and I mean that in the absolute most complementary way possible. By technicality lots of people know the character- but only by their deadname and old identity from the original series (TAZ: Balance). They "transition" in the sequel (TAZ: Imbalance) and Jocasta Nightstrider is their current and future self going forward in the series, it's just that afaik basically nobody watched the sequel which means nobody knows about Jocasta lol. I'm pretty sure that despite being one of the main characters Jocasta is the second least-known character in the entire series, second only to Kuo which is a minor character also exclusive to the sequel. I'm pretty much the only person who regularly posts about them, which gets a bit lonely in the fandom sometimes but I'm generally pretty happy sitting in my corner doodling little drawings of this completely unknown character lol.

Though hey, if you like silly fantasy stories made with a ton of heart and as many heartwrenching scenes as hilarious ones, I'd totally recommend TAZ! It starts a little slow in the very beginning but it's definitely worth it in the long run!! And obviously I'm biased as The Jocasta Guy but the sequel's especially good lmao 👍
