hi! i was wondering if you know of any nonbinary sci-fi authors? i'm taking part of a storygraph challenge and one of the challenges is to read a scifi novel by a nonbinary author so i thought maybe you'd have a rec! thank you and hope you have a great day <3 (btw do you still have the link to the doc you had of all the vintage lgbt scifi novels? thanks again!)
DO I!!!! :DDD
Sarah Gailey - The Echo Wife (domestic scifi thriller with gone girl vibes)
Ada Hoffmann - The Outside (cosmic horror)
S. Qiouyi Lu - In The Watchful City (mosaic novella with stories that range from scifi to fantasy)
Ness Brown - The Scourge Between Stars (scifi horror ala Alien, good for some low brainpower horror thrills) CORRECTION: while ness brown goes by they/them pronouns, i don't think they've actually confirmed if they identify as nonbinary, my bad!
Avi Silver - Pluralities (bit hard to categorize but i'd recommend this one if you'd like a weird scifi novella with gender and transness as a main theme!)
Neon Yang - The Genesis of Misery (science fantasy with mechas) (i haven't read it yet, but i'm a huge fan of neon yang's other work!)
Rivers Solomon - An Unkindness of Ghosts (generation ship scifi) (another one i haven't gotten around to yet, but it's by all accounts exceptional - though, note, very heavy from what i've heard - and i really enjoyed the author's fantasy novella The Deep)
and a couple more whose work I haven't read, but who are pretty high on my to-read list:
Emma Mieko Candon - The Archive Undying
Nino Cipri - Finna
Merc Fenn Wolfmoor - So You Want to be a Robot and Other Stories
Xiran Jay Zhao - Iron Widow (tbh i've heard some mixed opinions abt this one, but it is also undeniably the most popular book on this list)
Bogi Takács - The Trans Space Octopus Congregation: Stories, Power to Yield and Other Stories (i also wanna shout out eir reading blog, which has an absolutely incredible list of resources, including the trans and intersex fiction and poetry timeline and the neopronouns in fiction timeline!!!)
as for the vintage LGBT scifi doc: why yes of course. here it is in all its 150+ book glory <3

Have you seen the posts going around saying shit like "If a mutual likes Hazbin Hotel I will block them"?? It's genuinely upsetting me tbh, not just the idea that people don't like the show, but that they despise it so much they can't even stand the thought of someone they know liking the show. It reminds me of the Steven Universe hate train only worse. They also say shit like "the show is just someone saying swear words and expecting you to laugh", and if for a second we put aside the fact that that is blatantly not true, what's wrong with that? I'm allowed to like something that's a bit trash, right? I've already seen two different people I follow reblog posts to that effect (and worse, someone saying all a character boils down to is "i love being sexually abused <3" and i don't know how they ever came to that conclusion) and it's driving me mad. And somehow I just know that they don't actually give a shit about any "controversies" surrounding vivziepop, that's just a convenient excuse for most of them. I don't even care if Vivzie is a bad person, that's none of my business. just live and let live, you know?
Sorry for ranting, you're literally the only blog i follow who posts Hazbin fan content
Rant away, friend! Luckily for me I haven't come across any of those posts yet. Plenty of discourse surrounding whether fans are allowed to make romantic and/or sexual content for Alastor, the expected shipping wars, and - as you say - vague references to Vivzie controversies (which I'm too new a fan to even be aware of yet)... but nothing that's a complete rejection of the show itself. That's probably because I've only engaged with blogs posting a lot of Hazbin content though.
I'm a big fan of old school Internet rules which includes an emphasis on cultivating your own online space. You know, the thing tumblr is explicitly designed for. So in theory I applaud anyone blocking users/tags for a show they're not a fan of. Performatively posting about it more as a way to guilt others for liking Hazbin at all... not so much. If you want to block something just block it. If you're mutuals with someone you both presumably like each others' content. Not all of it necessarily, but enough to have followed in the first place, and often being mutuals for long enough leads to friendship because you're both getting interacting with one another a lot. All of which isn't to say that people don't unfollow mutuals, or that you can't drop a mutual because they've started posting something you dislike. Obviously both situations do happen, but it feels like an extreme enough response that these posters probably aren't actually doing this very often. Most people will wait the mutual out until their interest gets hooked on something new, or block the Hazbin tag and keep the friend, or just block without making a big announcement about it. So posts like that feel more like a way to show off how much you dislike the show and guilt others for their enjoyment which yeah, can be upsetting to see. Especially when, as you say, it costs nothing to just let people like things.
Which might sound hypocritical on my part given my RWBY interests, but I think there's a big difference between critically examining a show while supporting others who genuinely love it, and simplistically blasting it. I COMPLETELY get why Hazbin wouldn't be to everyone's tastes and, like with the SU example, anything that gets popular enough is going to develop its haters (especially cartoons trying to tackle non-childish subjects. That's always going to be a fandom landmine). But if you're going to make claims about a show, at least watch it to ensure you can back up your stance? And if your takeaway is still, "This is the worst fucking thing I've ever watched"... cool. Go forth and write about that on your own, personal blog. But no one should be surprised when they're also blocked for bragging about how many Hazbin fans they've blocked.

Propaganda Under Cut
Mai
she’s constantly pushed aside for the zuko/sokka ship :/ like i’m not a fan of mai/zuko but they always forget her or make her a wingwoman or make her a villain.
She's a very interesting character who had the misfortune of being the love interest of the series' most popular character, Zuko, which immediately made her public enemy No. 1 in certain parts of the fandom. Tbh I think she's more a victim of zutara (an m/f ship) than zukka (m/m) but zukka also screwed her over so it counts. She's at best sidelined and at worst demonized. There's a whole section of the fandom who'll swear up and down she's abusive for telling Zuko to deal with his mental health issues himself. There's whole essays on it and I'm not exaggerating.
tell me WHY people think she's abusive just because she?? got mad at zuko?? when zuko was being a horrible boyfriend to begin with?? because theyre both teenagers and they were literally Acting Like Teenagers?? anyway no more mai hate the world has moved past the need for mai hate
Elizabeth Midford
She started as just a cutie fiancée trying her best, turns out she's also a swordfighting genius, very under pressure to perform feminity in the Victorian Rose type of way. Fandom crucifies her bc she's Ciel's fiancée and they want him to be with his butler, Sebastian, the demon he sold his soul to for revenge
anime was a shitty canon divergent adaptation that butchered her character down to her "cutesy silly girly" persona, which obviously made the 2008 anime fans hate her with a passion (nothing wrong w being girly I'm just saying the adaptation made her super one dimensional) anyways fujoshis used to treat her as a villain because she's the fiance of Ciel,, who as u might know already was HEAVILY shipped with his butler, Sebastian back then (now it's kinda looked badly upon, nice tbh that ship sucks ass xD) She's a bit similar to Misa Amane from death note in the way she was treated. (Like an obstacle the yaoi ship must overcome rather than a person)
she's my silly little rabbit! i could gush about her character but i'll keep it short and just say that she's really well written and one of the best characters in the series. anyways she's ciel's fiance and she's like, rightfully annoying as any other 13 yr old girl would be but the fanbase fucking crucified her for even existing. she gets demonized for being 'annoying', but then ciel gets yaoishipped with an even more annoying guy. there is 100% an argument that lizzie/ciel is weird bc they're cousins (i personally don't ship it) but that falls flat when her detractors then ship the 13 yr old ciel with an eons old demon who Canonically looks like his father. the anime also never reached her main character development until years after its peak and that was only in a movie, so she really got the bad end of the stick here. not me though i had a giant crush on her when i was 12

Hi Imp, I came to cry in your inbox :')
I dont interact with the marauders fandom on twitter/X (I do use it for other fandoms) but now the algorythm is broken or sth and it's suggesting me tweets from those ppl and. omg. why.
one person reposted an old tumblr post about hagrid being good/supportive to harry and that fandom shouldnt see sirius as the (only) parental figure (that alone is.. debatable) AND another person replied that "all sirius did was compare harry to his father, hug him, then die"
huh?? (I want to die after reading this)
another person (who claims to be a wolfstar shipper) had such a weird take on wolfstar... apparently the werewolf prank is absolutely unforgivable and also sirius has other sins to anwser for such as *checks notes*... loving james more then remus...
now i understand your frustration with remus apologists. i dont remember encountering any in the wild before.
and i really dont want this to turn into shitting on remus bc i do like him (with all his canon flaws) so before you say anything: yes, i know, i acknowledge he fucked up in canon, but its not about him. its about people not understanding sirius and shipping a ship if the hate half of the ship
My inbox is always open for crying!
But yes, this is what I'm talking about with the Remus apologists! They shit on Sirius all the time. I don't know why any of the Remus stans actually write Wolfstar, tbh. There's a hugely popular author out there (no one who follows me, so if you're reading this and you're a follower of mine, it's not you) who has posted on more than one occasion about how Sirius needs to make it up to Remus for the Prank, for believing he was the traitor, etc. What! How can you ship these two if that's how you feel about Sirius? Lmao. The problem is that all the Wolfstar shippers project onto Remus, so he becomes someone who has done nothing wrong ever and Sirius needs to grovel to him.
Alternatively, they just want to fuck Remus, which is why he becomes this hot alpha jock and Sirius becomes their self-insert character.
And lol, of course they hate that it's canon that Sirius was closer to James than to Remus. How dare Sirius not like their boy the best! That is a crime!
I'm getting off-track.
The point is, you're 100% correct, this is what I have been saying all along! The fandom hates Sirius so much! I don't understand why they're interested in writing a ship that he's part of.
(also wtf hagrid is NO parental figure and sirius did more for harry than literally any other character in the series)

Ask game for that emo ghost from that pac man show idk what he's called
He's emo
He's red and black and white
And once you reblogged a picture of him biting a finger
That man
The silly
DFHDSGSD BETRAYUS???? not who I was expecting from you but I will gladly ramble about him >:3
- Favorite thing about them
Honestly? The fact that he plays the bratty dictator role as well as he does. Usually those types of characters aren't popular but he makes it work. I don't even like bratty characters. You can ask anyone who knows me well enough, I notoriously bicker about bratty characters. And yet I adore him for it. He carries the whole show.
- Least favorite thing about them
The fact that he actively runs away and fears the front line fighting role. At least in the show. Its been shown multiple times in the show, even in the games, that he's hella powerful. I get that it's partially because of his role as a general so it would make sense. But what I wouldn't give to see more of him throwing hands w Pac instead of shrilling and running away flailing.
- Favorite Line
It's such a classic moment tbh
- brOTP
Hard to say given PMATGA is literally "Everyone hates Betrayus" the show, but oddly enough the brOTP that I like is literally him and his bro. Even if they don't get along I know that Betrayus values family to some degree. There's an episode where Pac goes to a bad end future and Betrayus had taken over Pac World, but instead of outright killing the brother he seems to hate so much he kind of just... keeps him around? It couldn't be to gloat, many many years had past and Stratos was very much brain dead and zombified. You could argue it was for plot (yeah obviously). You could argue it's to get information about the repository.... but as I had mentioned, enough time passed for Stratos to grow old and grey, and Betrayus seems to have given up the idea of finding the whereabouts of his old body. Heck, he was even thrilled about seeing Pac who had went missing, and he supposedly hates him. A part of me believes he does love his bro, and would never wish something like death on him.
- OTP
Don't really have one unless we're including crackships, in which case Zs'Skayr x Betrayus that @6clawdy6 and I made. Never really found a ship between canon characters I was fond of... Betrayus is very hard to love.
- nOTP
I might get some flack for this one because I know it's a popular one, but Specter x Betrayus. Could never get behind it. They very clearly hated each other in the show. Specter was literally banished to the depths of hell to shovel hot dragon shit for trying to double cross Betrayus (not even a joke).
- Random Headcanon
The gloves he wears are often described as prosthetics. That gave me an idea. I have a hc that he became a powerful fire ghost because the repository had a meltdown when he had his ghost stripped of his mortal body. The result was really crisped hands, severe aching pains, and untamed fire magic. Those clawed gloves act as a power represent and a pain reliever of sorts. Like hand braces.
-Unpopular opinion
I honestly don't know if there's an unpopular opinion regarding him given with how small the fandom is and how my involvement in it has been minimal, but if I had to say... I'm not a fan of the idea that he's a redeemable villain if he was shown love or sympathy. I'm under the impression that that man is not the same as before and he's far too gone to be truly saved. Little to no empathy in that ghost's black charred heart. At best he can tolerate people begrudgingly, but even that's being generous.
- Song I associate with them
youtube
"Mama" by MCR
If you've watched the show you know why. It fits his backstory so well.
- favorite picture of them

ship ask game: SNS
Thank you for the ask shrimp!! Fun fact, I just recently learned this is the abbreviation for SasuNaru but still don’t know what the last S means 😅 anywho
Don't Ship It
1. Why don't you ship it?
Mostly because I dislike both of the characters lol I definitely feel like it’s one of the more legit pairings in the fandom though, and absolutely understand its popularity.
2. What would have made you like it?
Tbh I don’t think I ever would. If you know/follow me you know that of all the characters, Naruto AND Sasuke are among my least favourites, and I just don’t even think about them enough to actively ship them.
3. Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
As I’ve mentioned I do see the basis of it. It’s kind of hard to miss imo. But I just…don’t feel like they’d be anything close to healthy together. 🫣

Hi I noticed you have been in the deathnote fandom for a long time. Do you know some changes the fandom/ships went through? I already know that the misogyny towards misa used to be terrible
hi! absolutely! for context i got into death note around 2006 and have spent most of my time on livejournal, deviantart, youtube, gaiaonline and then of course tumblr; i've used LJ, deviantart, quizilla, ao3, fanfiction.net and independent websites/forums for fic. i have been involved more broadly in anime/manga fandom since 2001. i say all this because people's fandom experiences will vary dramatically based on their platform of choice. broadly speaking: death note was a HUGE phenomenon with massive international popularity, and was very critically acclaimed -- it was often discussed as the most accessible series for beginners due to its high quality and its lack of fanservice. it was generally seen as being very somber. it was also well-known for being difficult to write for on account of its dialogue-heavy nature. for the most part i think the ships themselves have remained stable -- lawlight has always been the most popular by a large margin, and mello/near and matt/mello followed behind. there were a lot more fans in general, though, so mello/near and matt/mello were massive - 25% of 100 000 is a lot more than 25% of 100. the way people ship has changed dramatically, however. people used to care a lot about whether or not something was canonically viable, so there'd be loads of posts proving that lawlight was 'real.' ship wars ime used to be a lot more aggressive but were also less moralistic. people also cared a LOT about who was the seme/uke in a relationship. this was of course partially because of the lack of awareness around how real queer couples function, but it was also because of the relative popularity of doujinshi; seme/uke indicated a character's personality, not just their position. (i should say this was not at all universal, and there's plenty of content from that era which does not follow these conventions, as well as a myriad of queer people who objected to this.) because algorithmic content distribution was nonexistent and sites explicitly for fic (ff.net, ao3) hadn't yet taken over, fic rec lists were a HUGE part of the fic economy. personally i think they should come back; they're great for niche content and lesser-known artists, and they foster community. you will often notice older fans using names like raito, mero, or nia. these are holdovers from scanlations, as the official english spellings weren't available until late in the series (for mello and near) or the official translations (for light) as a point of note, you'll sometimes see people saying that 'eru' was the name used for L, but this just isn't true; L's name was spelt with the roman character even in original japanese. early scanlations are still widely available, so you can see all this (plus tonal changes re: the dialogue) for yourself. tbh i don't actually think the misogyny towards misa is worse; i think the language surrounding it has just gotten more intellectualized. i feel this way about a lot of problems in fandom. also ok here's some linguistic trivia i find very interesting but which got long enough that i decided to put it at the end, please ofc feel free to skip this:
ships used to be tagged with / \ | or & to indicate the type of relationship. how they worked were: / and \ were for slash ships, | was for het ships, and & was for platonic ships. why do all this? partially it was because it was much easier to scan if you're on a site that displays only titles. it was also used to avoid censorship on sites that cracked down on gay or sexual relationships, as the terms were less obvious and also wouldn't get picked up by automods. \ | in particular were useful in roleplaying context where users wished to request straight or gay rps; since fic and rp often involves the same people, there's crossover in the terminology. / and \ were used to indicate seme vs. uke. for example: L/light means L is the seme, and L\light means L is the uke. (the idea was that the slash pointed to the receiver.) you could also show seme vs. uke by ordering the characters. in this case, L/light indicates that L is the seme and light/L indicates that light is the seme. the \/ distinction was already falling out of popularity by the time death note hit its stride, so the latter was the much more common way of doing things. eventually we got sites with tagging systems which required consistent ship names, so the whole top/bottom naming distinction fell away, and combined ship names (ex. lawlight) became more popular. seme vs. uke were then explicitly indicated via bang paths. (seme!light.) this kind of happened concurrently with the shift from seme/uke to top/bottom. if you have an interest in early fandoms, i would highly recommend both 'everything i need i get from you' by katitlyn tiffany and 'because internet' by gretchen mcculloch. 'everything i need i get from you' focuses largely on the social and technical factors behind fandom, and 'because internet' is about linguistics.

so im writing a very long fanfic and ahh.. toiling with the struggle of having slightly controversial takes on where characters should go with their lives post-canon and what i think would actually be good for them even though it conflicts with popular understanding.. like it is what i believe. i think. but even then i get worried that this is Disastarously Wrong and it's just wishful thinking on my end for what i'd Want for them y'know? but even if it Is my belief, it still feels embarrassing and mortifying to think about posting because, well, people will think i'm wrong and maybe stupid and as silly and, tbh Petty as it is, that's kind of the Worst feeling. especially when it comes to something this important to me... and maybe i shouldn't worry so much about the reception to an explicit fanfic i am writing of all things but it Is super important to me and i'm deriving fulfilment and joy from it so of course it's there, taking up brain capacity andghjhg.. aghgjk. sigh.
and sigh. this doesn't matter. or it Shouldn't matter, i am writing for me. but i hate how i get up in my own head about this, it feels so silly. but that's just how i work... and it's not a big fandom! so i don't feel once i post it i can slink into the shadows, which is in some ways exciting! that i know if i started posting it, it'd be the longest fic for that ship (it's already longer than anything else in the archvie and it's still in its infancy) but that's scary in its own way! what if i see a post of someone going, 'lol the longest fic in the ___ archive is so bad/wrong/stupid/etc.' which is a silly thing to worry about, maingly because it'd be bizarrely rude.. who would do that? i've read fics i dislike, and i Would never!
...but maybe i hate knowing that people Will dislike it regardless even if they do keep it to themselves?? which is also silly. I hate the idea of being someone's personal point of reference for 'he wouldn't fucking say that' but you cannot please everyone, and hoping for that will just make you hate your own work. and then especially if you tweak things for others, to align with popular opinion (which maybe is right, maybe you're wrong about your faves and are stupid for thinking this!!) which you understand is more conventional and accepted but, regardless, not what you think, then your compromise your own work and it's no longer something you like, which was why you were writing your own thing in the first place... and part of the point of this fic is to Demonstrate why i even think this in the first place...
god!! alas i am such a worrier. i cannot help but worry and rotate thoughts and anxiety spiral about silly things like this hobby of mine where i make fictional characters kiss. none of this really matters! and there are things in my life Distinctly much more worthy of my worry, but this is where it is manifesting.

Did Dr*es ship KC because she actually liked it or did she simply capitalise on its instant popularity and see it from the POV of pilot Caroline who wanted to be picked/desired by a guy which, predominantly,is the exact same sentiment of most Caroline/KC stans?Although Caroline wanted to be desired by someone SHE wanted in the pilot and not just anyone but caroline's voice was always ignored by fans and writers alike. And it was evident in the KC narrative.Klaus relentlessly pursued Caroline to the point that it turned into an obsession, self-indulgent,one-sided and violent until Caroline succumbed to his various pressure points:physically, emotionally and psychologically in 5×11 but refused to take ,whatever they had, any further.(Ironically it was her who said Caroline is madly in love with Stefan and has been in love with him for a while.)Candice had once said that in Caroline's mind Klaus, the bad boy, could chase her till the sun came up but the Caroline she had grown into wouldn't budge. And I think Plec touched upon that in TO finale when Caroline told Klaus that the chase was what made it more fun.I think she was never going to let KC be a legit relation probably because she never let SC go.That woman probably secretly writes SC marriage diaries during her free time. She even called KC " our inner fan girl fantasy" at a convention.
Oh no Anon I think she truly likes KC outside of anything to do with what the fans want, I don't think she actually cares what fans want she just likes to lie in interviews to gas people up and fool them. I think she likes KC for the same reason she like SK, Klaus and Katherine are the ultimate pursers of Caroline and Stefan and it's mostly about wearing them down until they get their love confession. That's why like you said above they had a lot of similarities in S5, plus Dries wrote some of KC greatest hits like 3x14, 4x23 and 7x14. TBH I think Dries can just be flat out full of shit in a lot of things she says so I really don't take what she says in interviews seriously at all, the way she spun S7 at SDCC was some next level bullshit.
I think Julie more than any other writer has some enthusiasm for every ship and tries to give everyone something (unless of course it’s Bonnie). She's also more open to catering to the fans if she wants to, like the DE rain kiss or the June wedding mentions in S8 (like I think she played it up because fans were so excited at SDCC). I think that's exactly how Plec saw it re: KC, because there was nothing stopping her from making KC endgame on TO besides simply not wanting to. She also made it that Caroline didn't kiss Klaus when they were in Mystic Falls and instead he got a good-bye kiss in NOLA which was not as strong IMO. I still think the clock tower was about Caroline remembering Stefan because JP released the "Mrs. Forbes-Salvatore" scene the day of TO's S4 finale. Just the way she talks about SC makes me think she likes them the most of all the ships, and maybe if she got a S5 for Legacies with Candice actually appearing we would have got more mentions. When the Legacies musical aired I noticed she liked the tweet below and she hardly ever likes anything that shipper-y (yes I know she was tagged but that just means she saw it easier). She also tweeted “happy tears” about the Steroline proposal episode you could tell she loved it too.

hello again, i'm the anon from the waifu/blorbo thing just checking in. it was quite surprising to see the ask i made when i was feeling sorta petty would spiral in all that lol
to answer why i stay anon, its because I'm just a "filthy lurker" tbh. im not really sociable or talented enough that i feel like interecting directly in the fandom, and i'd rather avoid the headaches that come from exposing myself to its more annoying parts lol. i understand its different for artists tho, you guys do us a great service
but Holy Shit your situation was quite bonkers. it is kind of funny that i might have helped you out with this apparently lmao. all it took was the right ask at the right time, crazy how that works
best of luck to you and thank you for being based lol. it isn't easy with such persistent haters but i hope you keep it up
Thank YOU for being based, the moment I read what you said I knew EXACTLY what you were talking about! And yes, it is a reliably stable way to piss that person off enough to 'act' by poking the holy dogma of "Maria is a masculine lesbian and everyone with a different interpretation is a bigot" with a stick in any way shape or form. Imagine being easily caught just because you can't stand bisexuals or women that can combine badassery and tenderness?
I'll have you know though, that fanart or fanfics are NOT a "rent" you have to pay to be considered a "valid" part of the fandom! You say you don't feel like you belong here... but you do, as long as you love BB and want to interact with other fans and support them. I am not the most fantastic artist either; my anatomy is still a long way to go and I finish my works very slowly, but it is my passion why I am here! :)
As for the annoying parts of the fandom,...
Tumblr media
Honestly, you don't need to worry, at least not on Tumblr. Redditbros tend to stay away in their own circles and all you have to do is to not go on Reddit for sharing things like headcanons, drawings, ships etc. As for the bullies (oh, pardon, the completely civil people that are not encouraging harassment but simply spread "awareness" in order to excile people they dislike from the safe wholesome fandom uwu); they will typically do you a favour if they drop your name as "yiiiikes this person is nasty for [reason] block them girlies!", since this way the fake ones will self-isolate from you as a result and YOU won't see THEIR bad takes! And toxic Maria fans usually function by one 'main' guy vs their simps that got easily influenced. Before the current guy (you know who by now) it was someone else spreading bad takes about "misogynist" Gehrman and "violated masculinity" of Maria, boasting about how they ignore all lore and (mis)translation evidence against their One True interpretation. That person matured though, and the simps they influenced dissolved and became nuanced. The current guy is chronically unable to mature, learn and admit mistakes; but at the same time, popular accounts popularised a "compromise" take that portrays Gehrman as missing the mark but having good intentions that get way more traction and toxicity is overshadowed by them 🤔
What I am saying is, you can avoid annoying parts reliably easily! You probably are seeing like same two people starting controversy every time from your "corner"... and it is BECAUSE there are not that many. They are just loud. If you are in the room with 20 people, 19 of which are adults minding their own business and 1 is a screaming baby, who will you pay more attention to? I'd love to see you make an account, tbh, but if you really don't want to.. Well, still feel free to send me asks, gripes or headcanons or questions or whatnot!

hello, it is time for violence (the ask game didn't say if i should specify a fandom, so... for the drizzt fandom, unless you want to talk about a different one): 3, 6, 8, 16, 25
Oooh thank you for sending these! 3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr I've seen some questionable takes over the years but in general, the idea that characters changing and growing over the course of an almost 40 book series is somehow watering them down or disrespectful to the fans. 6. which ship fans are the most annoying? In this fandom I don't think any? I don't think this particular series attracts a ton of hardcore shippers to the point that they've made me hate a ship. 8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about Sorry, but Salvatore is actually a good writer. He's not perfect, but it's not just a happy accident and your uniquely perfect reinterpretation of the source material that has given this series its longevity. (I don't think this is super common but I've seen it enough in different forms for it to fit here.) 16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc) I don't know why Dinin is so popular!! Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against it, I just don't get the popularity of the rest of house Do'Urden tbh. But it's honestly fun to see fellow fans find characters that didn't leave that deep an impression on me initially and run with them and make me see them in a whole new way :) 25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing Honestly I keep so much of the noise blocked out at this point lol. I thought I'd have more to complain about! But I guess there's always nitpicking (which is totally fine ofc) and sometimes it just feels like. hey. this is a series that started out at a time where campy fantasy was not known for being woke (or especially deep) and has had to change to accommodate I don't even remember how many major edition and lore changes over the years. There's plenty to critique but I guess keep in mind that you can't judge a series like this the same as a non-franchise-affiliated series? Thanks for sending these again! I'm always happy to answer asks!

I have to get this off my chest and I know I might get booed for this (which is why I'm not gonna reveal my identity) BUT- I don't like Ghoap all that much...
I recognize it's a really good ship with a lot of material and fanart is godly but I just...I don't know. I can't say that I don't like it because I do to some degree but it's so on the bottom of the list for me. I like it better when it's poly!141 but on its own...eh. Weirdly enough I feel like I liked it more before??
I love them both as characters and think they're both fruity as fuck and like...I see it, it's there. But I don't feel it in my heart.
(plus I just love Gazsoap a lot more)
Hey that’s okay! You don’t have to vibe with every ship no matter how good their dynamic seems to be besides there’s sm ghoap content to the point where even ghoap shippers are tired of it😭 it’s human nature tbh
But you know what ship doesn’t make any sense ? Korangi is that königs and horangis ship name idk but I do not understand why there’s ship content around them bc they have never interacted before as far as I know? They’re in the same team and that’s pretty much it right? There’s such limited information about the characters that you can’t really do much with them in fanfiction
I feel and again this is my opinion I feel like after ppl started replacing gaz with könig they also tried to recreate a ship like ghoap with him, in terms of popularity and content etc but it hasn’t really worked out and every time I see a fic or art of them I just don’t get it bc it’s not like
“Oh könig has abandonment issues let’s see how horangi who grew up in a really loving family deals with it”
Its like we don’t have much information about the characters so whatever fic they’re in or whatever art piece they’re in isn’t really interesting bc there’s no driving force behind it nothing that interests a shipper

For the OC questions: 5, 24, 31 and 40!
Sweeeet!:D thank you for yet another ask oml <3 🤧
Let's see!(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧
5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be?
Tumblr media
Oh pretty much my semi-self insert & sailor moon oc Mia Hideno (Amethyst as a villain) 🤧 I mean it's also the one I have the biggest history with, and my 2nd most developed and thought out one after Evelyn(unless we speak lore/inspo wise where it's an equal footing) . Like imma be fr here I'm surprised that an anime/manga that named 90% and counting of its villains after minerals/gemstones there wasn't anyone in canon after that (like,,,it can be the sailor earth of villain ocs <3). Plus I'm very much set on how her story goes (with multiple endings.) So all I need is to resume my SM rewatch that was paused after aot pt.3 trailer was released and I'm on it! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧
And like,,, her and demande,,, my og oc ship that's still kicking today 😆💎💐 what I clung on to until creating reinelyn :")
24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why??
Ahhh right, I knew right away who would it be and that reminded me- I don't think I've introduced aya here yet have I?:3
Because shopping with her would be the dream tbh. Your wardrobe would feel like a blessing had struck it. Also she sweet 🤧🤧
Tumblr media
31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really)
Just one? :c I'm going with main trio for this one
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Evelyn: mostly just pretty and cute aesthetic pictures and philosophical/ motivational quotes. She doesn't have that much free time on her hands so when she does it rather be in a positive territory that doesn't drain her further. Although should she befriend anyone also continuously support whatever they make by sharing it with commentary.
Mia: exclusive art account. A close resemblance to the one I have myself indeed (semi-self insert indeed xD). Should she have a personal one kinda like Evelyn's but also a lot of character meta/analysis posts reblogged. For certain a villain apologist 😆
Cecille: mostly short personal posts, doesn't bother with anything that isn't pfp and a snarky line for the blog title. probably gets anon hate claiming her attitude is ass so she replies with one 🥱 (as in "ain't reading all that") and leaves it. (I love her 🤧)
40. Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share!
Honestly nothing overly specific of an event considering I kept a lot about them to myself for a long time but,,, let's say these
For Mia just about how everytime I have a brainrot for her it's like the muse had struck me I had to keep a list if I burn out before doing them all so it can be pulled for next time 🤧💐
In Evelyn's case it's more recent knowing pretty much everyone I talk about her with is interested & likes her🥹. I mean that really gives me a chance to go and further ny writing skill and it's also nice to look in her tag and see old and new stuff
My pride and joy that's what she is ✨ :")

hello I've been an on-and-off CM enjoyer(?) for a decade, with Hotch being my main area of interest… I just spent literal hours going through your blog lol. tbh it was exactly the kind of CM content I desperately wanted but had trouble finding initially (jfc the sea of x reader I had to wade through) anyway I stopped watching full eps at around S5, but I'm aware of how things go for Hotch and I'm v bitter about the missed opportunities. maybe a popular opinion in the fandom, but I've always hated how the Foyet attack was glossed over for example - my disbelief when I first watched 5x02 and Hotch just... shows up to work?? why'd they bother with such a major injury if its consequences were limited to one (1) episode years later, and even then the mental trauma was 99% ignored. no mention of meds/painkillers/recovery? nothing about "your scars are gonna look just the same"?? BUT that almost pales in comparison to all the other Hotchner things you got me thinking about, like his subtle aversion to fire or autistic traits or other facets of his character/relationships that are soooo tantalizingly hinted at but not expanded upon. I don't know the whole show that well so idk how Hotch fared compared to other characters but it felt like we got crumbs, especially since he was there for 11 goddamn seasons sorry this is so long but I've never talked CM to anyone before and you've made me love Hotch even more as a character, and now I'll have to further stew in my despair over him getting zero closure
i have similar issues with the show and fandom. the show looooves to traumatize its characters and then pretend it didnt even happen the second the arc is over. i understand its the nature of an episodic show like this (and i love that style for this show! i do!) but they could MENTION how hotch has scars (especially in season 10 when theyre all comparing scars on the plane) or how he needs medication (considering thats the only reason why they found foyet in the first place). foyet was the first big arc, so i understand why they needed to get on with it and bring hotch back to work by 5x02, but i wish they’d had an extra episode in between dealing with the team’s emotions about their leader being attacked (the way we kinda see them reeling from haley’s death and the potential of hotch not returning in 5x11 (or whatever the next ep after 100 is)).
no matter who your favorite cm character is, anyone can have the same complaint of them not following through about what undergoing these kind of traumatic events would mean for the characters. it’s definitely a sore point with criminal minds. especially because the only time they do it is when they want a character to leave (like gideon, blake, and kate). it fucking sucks bc there’s so much potential
and that’s where i feel like the fandom lets me down too. there’s not a lot of talk about it—mostly it’s just self inserts and shipping. there’s hardly any good character analysis out there, but that’s why i started this blog in the first place: if it doesn’t exist, make it yourself! (i would encourage you to do the same if you still feel this way. i talk shit ab the fandom all day but i still get so much positivity despite that from people who value the characters just as much but express it differently)
sorry for getting to this ask so late! maybe you’ll come across it eventually. if you do, let me know your other thoughts on the show/fandom! if youve seen more, if youve interacted more, or if you just have more to say!

5, 7, 11, 14, 19, 20, 22 and 23 for FC5! Give us the salt 👀
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*
hmm, no, but that's mostly because I don't read much beyond my mutual circle in far cry. however, some mutuals have shone some new light on certain things. Shipping with non-Seeds as a viable option (I know that sounds stupid but I blame John for taking a vice grip on my throat from the first time I played) and uh... shipping with Joe as something that's not completely vile. (i'm sorry, please don't hate me Joe lovers)
7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?*
Erm. New Dawn gave me complicated feelings about Sharky? Some of his ND dialogue is... uh... questionable for a guy who's now in his 50s. Honestly, even that's a stretch. For the most part, participating in the fandom has only widened my appreciation for the game and its characters.
11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
Faith Seed, Grace Armstrong, Tracey Lader, Kim Rye, and Staci Pratt - fandom seems to throw them all under the bus or ignore them.
Faith seems to get killed off or pushed aside way too much. I think she's as interesting a villain as her 'brothers' and deserves to be seen as more of a threat. She's extremely dangerous and unrepentant about drugging a ton of people against their will until they're entirely lobotomized. I mean, that's some HARDCORE evil.
Grace, Tracey, and Kim... Well, they get ignored and I can take a wild guess at why. It's incredibly unfair because I think they're some of the most interesting Resistance characters.
For a game that's weak on how it treats women, there's several quality female characters that get totally ignored. (Joey, too, but because of one friend's ship, I get a lot of amazing writing for her.)
And Staci... well, that's Skelly's fault.
14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
Uhm, I'm not sure tbh. Maybe that I would be cool with not having the Drubman family around? Their quests and characters are... not my favorites.
Also, John's plane jacket is fucking stylish and awesome. Everyone is just jealous.
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
that i am so late to the party? that there are so many talented people and I'm intimidated all the time? i... dunno that I actually *hate* anything? But again, I came really late, so I've not been around for any drama or anything.
20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?
Aw, bro, this fandom doesn't really do "pure" lmao. Hope County is a bleak, harsh hellscape. Buuuut, canon ships, I'd say Nick and Kim. (I am a Rye stan, sorry to everyone.) And fanon? 👀 Leah and Joey 👉👈
22. Popular character you hate?
🏃‍♀️💨 Oh geeeeeez, i'm gonna get in trouble for this one. Joseph Seed
23. Unpopular character you love?
I mean see #11 above. All of those definitely qualify. I love them all so much. I'm shoe-horning a bunch of lore and backstory into Lilith so I can play with some of them more. I also love Nick. Which is why he's in Micah's backstory.

I just... need to say... I HAVE BEEN A FAN OF YOUR WORK FOR YEARSSSSS like i remember you were one of my first tumblr blogs i ever followed once i made a tumblr account in 2018 and have been following EVEN before i had a tumblr blog in 2017 because i was so obsessed with your one south park creek art XD like? your art has improved so much? like? OMG????? and its like? so good? and so amazing? and such an inspiration? (and tbh learning a year or two ago that you also drew invader zim art before was just like??????? omg) AND also that you drew danganronpa art too! just like! wow! and zelda and like so many other cool fandoms too!!! its super awesome! AND NOW learning that you are back into invader zim? is just? omg? (and plus ship and draw zadr) its so mega awesome for real. like? your art is so awesome? love your shading? like how you draw? like i can go on and on .... you art is amazing! seriously! Have a good one!
@cinnamonghost I am SO GLAD I checked my inbox. I never look in here ever at all, so I apologize if this has been sitting here for a while!
But holy shit, I am SO flattered. This really did make my night. It's so crazy when people say they've been following me for years, I honestly can't wrap my head around it, but it means so much to me. In this weird parasocial way, it makes me feel like I have these ancient friends that I share old memories with. I'm pretty sure I know EXACTLY what creek drawings you're referencing, I was weirdly proud of that post because it did NUMBERS, but hell if I know why. Looking back on it, the drawings weren't very good, but I guess tumblr had more users then, and sp was popular.
AND YEAH, I really do get around when it comes to fandoms don't i?? I really don't tether myself to any one thing, I just draw whatever I like at the time. Iz is a source of nostalgia, now in more than one way (childhood watching the cartoon, my teenage years participating in fandom), and not to be cheesy or anything, but it's like a Home in a way. Familiar territory I guess. I'll always like iz!
Thank you so much for sending me an ask!!! Literally so kind of you, this means the world.
