me: due to my family’s general disconnect from judaism and also my at this point lack of interest or desire to become “more jewish” i would say my experience of learning yiddish is probably more like a goy’s than a jew’s
also me, watching adaptations of the tevye stories in which basically each one of the marriage situations has happened in my family: this is not how it actually happened in real jewish communities. i actually would know because my ancestors were shtetl jews. you see, i actually have a better perspective on being a jewish jew than whoever wrote and directed fiddler on the rood beause my ancestors (who by the way were jews)--
