Very losely based on this fanart by @tbh-logic, which I've seen months ago and since then it has not left my brain. (like seriously i keep going back to look at it, it owns me.)

Hatake Kakashi x Uchiha Obito

Kakashi walked down the marble-stone hallways, his quick paced steps echoing off the wall which every new one he took. He’d been sent out to find one of the princes, who had apparently left the banquet early without explanation. This had not looked well with the Lord of the place, and as such Kakashi was sent out to get the runaway.

Uchiha Obito was always like that, as an orphan he was the lowest of the hierarchy in the castle, just about related enough to the Lord himself to not be pushed out. But he wasn’t any candidate for the throne in any regard and so he often did as he pleased. Not that that was allowed to him.

When he found the room Kakashi knocked once, then another time when there was no reaction, then a third time and still none, so he knocked one fourth and final time before opening the door to step in.

Lord Obito was laying spread out over a red couch in the corner, his blue jacket was lazily put over his eyes as if he was sleeping, but Kakashi could see the way his breath went quickly and he knew that he wasn’t. He stepped in and cleared his throat: “Sir?”

The other man stirred only lightly, but otherwise stayed exactly where he was as if he hadn’t heard Kakashi’s voice. So Kakashi repeated himself: “Sir, I’ve been sent to ask you why you decided to skip dinner.” He paused a second then added: “Lord Madara demands an explanation.”

That finally got a reaction out of him. “Go away, phantom,” Obito said, a name he had given Kakashi personally for the face covering he was wearing. He sat up suddenly, his jacket carelessly falling to the floor below him. “I don’t think I’m a child that needs to eat dinner with my uncle every day”, he spit and ran with his fingers through his black hair. “Especially not when that means…” He didn’t finish the sentence.

Kakashi walked over to pick up the jacket before it collected too much dust. Out of the corner of his eye he watched Obito continuously mumbling over dinner, his uncle, how he wasn’t a child anymore, and all the while pulling out little hairs from his head. He did that when he was nervous or anxious, Kakashi had noticed a long time ago. He wasn’t privy to family secrets so he had no idea what this specific anxiety attack was about.

“I don’t know what you mean with that, sir,” Kakashi said and folded the jacket under his arms. “I’m just here to tell you that Lord Madara wishes an apology and an explanation. You ought to address it to him and the guests.” 

A large delegation of Senju members had arrived by morning and stayed the whole day with the majority of the Uchiha family. Kakashi had been out and about assisting the many princes around, though none of them were as much of a hassle as Obito was. It was not like Kakashi minded cleaning up Obito’s messes. He had done it half his life at this point and never complained. Obito was more likely than any other Uchiha to actually be outspokenly thankful for the work Kakashi was doing.

Obito sighed and threw his head back over the back of the couch: “I don’t want to talk to the guests though, or meet them…” He frowned.

Kakashi knew he was stepping out of line, but he couldn’t help but ask: “Is there something troubling you, sir?”

For the question alone he could have been dismissed and reprimanded by his superior. He wasn’t meant to ask private questions to the royalty around. Obito, however, had never really been like any of the others and so, maybe he wouldn’t be offended. 

“I’m to be engaged”, Obito said, “to some Senju that I’ve never met.” There were the hands in his hair again. “And it’s not like I don’t understand, you know? I have nothing to offer this family as a low standing orphan without specific talents. So I would not be opposed to marrying for peace’s sake. However, I just…. I just don’t think it's very fair to them.”

“Them?” Kakashi asked.

“The partner. The spouse. The one I am to marry. They probably have heard tales of the beautiful, well raised and behaved sons of the Uchiha. Itachi, Sasuke, Shisui, those people who fit that description. They will probably not expect a half troll like me”, Obito gestured to his face.

He’d had an accident when he was small, back before Kakashi had come to serve at the palace, which had left him with scars on the right side of his face and body. It was a miracle that he could still see out of the eye on that side after what had been half a cave collapsing on top of him. Kakashi had heard the stories of Obito’s struggle to fight back to health and always admired that about him. He also didn’t think that Obito looked like a troll with them, he thought Obito was rather handsome anyway.

“On top of that” Obito continued, his face now buried in his hands, “.. I don’t even have anything else to offer them. Like, though I am twenty and four I don’t have any experience in any of these matters. I haven’t even kissed before…”

Kakashi found that hard to believe, but guessing by the desperate way Obito’s voice sounded it seemed very likely to be true. “Maybe you should practise a little before the marriage then, sir” Kakashi suggested and know he was very much reaching a boundary of familiarity that he shouldn’t cross.

“Right, but who would I practise with? Who would want to do it? With someone like me nonetheless”, Obito whined.

“I could.”

The words had slipped out of Kakashi’s mouth before he could stop himself. He stood there frozen, unable to take them back now that they were out in the open like that. He knew he could be fired for this, cast out back on the streets where he’d originally started from. It was too late now to think about the consequences of his reckless words.

Obito lifted his head out of his hands and stared at the other man. He wasn’t blinking. Kakashi took one step back as if he might lash out at him and hit him, which none of the Uchiha princes ever did. In his mind he thought over how to accurately apologise for such a frivolous offering, but it wouldn’t quite come together. 

He finally opened his mouth to speak, but Obito was faster: “Alright. Teach me.” 

Kakashi almost dropped the jacket to the dirty ground again. His mouth swung open just a little. “You mean that, Lord?”

“Well if you have experience and I need experience then, by all means, yes teach me” Obito replied. Kakashi didn’t have too much experience either, not with many partners at least. Sometimes he had kissed the kitchen girl Rin for the fun of it and for a while he had enjoyed the company of the young man who was responsible to look after the palace gardens. It didn’t mean much, but it wasn't nothing.

He walked over slowly and Obito moved to the side of the couch to give him space to sit down. He was still holding the deep purple jacket that the other man had dropped to the floor and, feeling awkward with it still in his hand, put it over the back of the couch. His hands were free in case - well in case he needed them.

“So, how do we go about this?” Obito asked and furrowed his brow. Kakashi had never been so close to him and seen his dark eyes as clearly as this. Obito was a handsome man, his fears that his future spouse would be unhappy with his appearance was totally unfounded, Kakashi concluded. Nobody would ever oppose marrying a guy with a face like that, scars or no scars.

Kakashi squirmed a little and then said: “Maybe you should close your eyes.” 

“Right, you wouldn’t want me to see your face, phantom,” Obito nodded and Kakashi nodded back, though his concern had much more been that looking into Obito’s eyes up close like that made him nervous and he wanted to avoid it. Just like he had suggested Obito closed his eyes and pursed his lips forward as if he was a fat bellied statue of an angel in the palace gardens. 

The view made Kakashi chuckle which led Obito to press out: “Not like that?”

“No, no, you are right, I’m sorry, sir” Kakashi said and shook himself. This was not a free time evening makeout session with Tenzo, he was here for very serious business and needed to behave accordingly. He opened the face covering at his back and let it slide over his chin. He took a breath in, then another, to calm his nerves, and then he leaned forward to kiss Obito.

Rin’s lips were thin and always tasted sweet like the goodies she liked to sneak out of the kitchen and Tenzo’s were always forceful and his body gave off an earthy smell, but Obito’s lips were softer than any of the others Kakashi had had before. Not even the dent at the right side, where the scars circled his face, could change that. He tasted like the wine he had for dinner. He smelled like juniper berries, vetiver and cypress.

Kakashi immediately felt like he wanted to push for more, beg for more, but Obito was not experienced enough and had not given authority. So Kakashi pressed their lips together just like that, just sweet and innocent kissing. Drawing back for a breath and drawing Obito back in, his hands cramped into fists in his lap to squash the desire that flared up in his chest now.

Obito picked it up quickly, moving his head in turn with Kakashi’s drawing breath when he did. Kakashi couldn’t help himself, he opened one of his eyes to see the other man's face. Obito had his eyes closed, but not forcefully but relaxed. There was a slight blush over his nose and cheeks. Kakashi thought he never looked more beautiful.

“Is that it?” Obito asked after a while, a little out of breath, eyes still closed diligently. “Or is there anything else about it? I’m sure I’ve seen people do… other things.”

Not wanting to end this right now either, Kakashi jumped at the opportunity: “No, sir, you are right, there is some more.” His heart beat like a drum against his ribcage. If someone would find him in here with Lord Obito, if someone would see them do this together, Kakashi would be cast out or punished even harder. Technically though, Obito had asked him to help, so he didn’t really have a choice.

“Please, follow my lead like you did so far, sir” Kakashi said and Obito nodded, his brows furrowed again as if he was taking these practice sessions very seriously. He was so cute, Kakashi would eat him for dinner if he could.

He leaned in again, sighing almost inaudibly when he met Obito’s lips again. This time though he parted his lips just slightly, allowing himself to breathe just a little easier. With the tip of his tongue, Kakashi tapped Obito’s lower lip, just graced it a little, to ask for access. Obito did not react at all, so Kakashi, now greedy and impatient, forced his tongue through the scarred lips into the other man's mouth, his hands pulling Obito’s face closer in the process.

First, he traced the outline of teeth on top and bottom, just to tease a little. Obito was breathing hard, his mouth opening wider now, but he stood still. When Kakashi finally did touch his tongue, Obito groaned. The sound was so wonderful to hear, that Kakashi had to hold back the impulse to throw Obito backwards and climb over him. Fire burned in his chest and he wanted more, more.

Obito was quick at adapting once again, swirling his tongue in unison with Kakashi, forcing a blissful sigh or two out of his mouth. He mimicked Kakashi’s movement and put his hand into the other man’s hair and crawled into it when he heard the moan Kakashi let out because of it. He was experimenting, Kakashi thought without judgement. He’d gladly be the experiment.

More. Kakashi thought. A little more. He wanted to push further, his heart loud in his ears and his common sense leaving out of the window. He sat himself up and with his hands on both Obito’s shoulders slightly pressed the Uchiha back into his pillows. Obito didn’t stop him or complain, instead he let himself get guided there. 

Kakashi’s hands found the button’s of the vest Obito was wearing and opened them quickly, Obito’s hands in turn holding his face. “It is also nice.. “ Kakashi heard himself say, “.. if you do this-” He kissed Obitos cheek, the jaw, the underside of the jaw and then the thin layer of skin next to the throat. Obito groaned again, pushed Kakashi’s head up and latched onto his lips again. 

“What else?” Obito pressed between kisses, his fingers running down Kakashi’s back like little spider legs. Kakashi just wanted to pull open even more of Obito’s vest buttons to kiss his chest, but then there was a knock at the door.

“Lord Obito, are you alright in there?” It was the voice of another servant.

Both Kakashi and Obito scooted away from each other in the blink of an eye. Kakashi was good at covering himself up so that people wouldn’t see his face, so he was the phantom again before Obito could really get himself together. 

“Sir, you should fix your hair”, Kakashi said, already halfway towards the door. “I hope this will help in the future, please don’t forget you have to talk to Lord Madara.” 

He opened the door to the clueless other servant and said: “Don’t worry I have everything under control.” And before Obito or someone else could say another word he turned the corner and hurried away the way he had come.

10. What work was the quickest to write?

Oh gosh....it's gonna sound weird but it's probably IWTBY? In the sense that it was 225k and I did it all in 3 and a half months. That little farm has been pouring out of me, or this real special one I wrote recently that involved skis only took me a few nights ;)

19. What's one pairing you want to explore next year?

I want to write a main pairing with Nat!!! Not sure who with- maybe Javy? Maybe Callie? Someone asked me if I'd ever write floydshaw or jake/bradley/bob so idk potentially that too hmmmm

20. Which work of yours have you reread the most?

I am a MOOD reader and writer for sure. Overall Magical mysteria (my jurassic park AU) or dreamland (my princes one) probably? More recently I've re-read specific parts of IWTBY repeatedly though and I have a feeling that little farm will be a big one (my fave things I've written are all my newer ones tbh cuz ya know...growth and all)

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

How much I love it, how cathartic it is. Literally sat down with a blank word doc and a dream in February and it's turned into this lmao. Little hamster wheel of a brain is always churning, but now I have to get it onto paper and you've heard my story crafting rants so you know how I feel about that and just working through emotions or world building. It's been SO FUN, especially the friends and community from it. Like the people who've read everything i've done since the beginning, or like I literally didn't think anyone would give a crap about IWTBY and it turned into what it did which is still fucking mind blowing to me.

(also tbh did I think I'd be writing a taylor swift/travis kelce inspired fic for hangster a few months ago? Absolutely not)

1. How many works do you have on AO3? 92

2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 378,489

3. What fandoms do you write for? House of the Dragon (Daemyra) almost exclusively now; previously mainly Dragon Age: Inquisition and Horizon Zero Dawn, with several different single fic fandoms like Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Mass Effect, Star Wars, Skyrim, and probably others I'm forgetting.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

I found some hate for you, just for show

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to! Sometimes I respond right away - other times it takes me a while to get to it. Tbh sometimes it's harder to think of a comment reply than it is to write the fic - especially those amazing long, thoughtful comments. I always worry nothing I can possibly respond will properly express how happy I am to receive them. But I truly appreciate everyone who takes the time to comment - nothing makes my day more than seeing that Ao3 comment email.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

It's got to be i've looked at clouds from both sides now - the ending is just purely hopeless angst. Even my necro fic where Daemon & Rhaenyra both die somehow has a less angsty ending.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

It might surprise people to learn that a lot of my fics actually do end happily, despite my deep, abiding love of angst. peak ends very fluffy and happily; and after some angst in the middle, better not touch (i want it too much) has a very happy ending.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not outright hate - sometimes I get comments I don't necessarily appreciate, but I've been pretty lucky so far I guess? Maybe I'm not writing fucked up enough stuff, idk.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes. Whatever I'm in the mood for - which in the past couple of months has been cannibalism and necrophilia. So. But usually it's some flavor of Daemon being dominant and dirty-talking a lot, featuring my not-so-subtle hand/finger/ring kink and choking kink. I also really enjoy writing Sad Men Jerking Off.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Crossovers aren't usually my thing, although I did recently write a ridiculous HotD/Naked Attraction crossover: Naked Attraction: The Lost Episode.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Only once that I know of, but it was quickly taken down. It was literally a copy/paste of do you really feel alive without me mixed with the work of another Daemyra author.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, with my permission.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No, although I definitely take a lot of inspiration from conversations I have with other writers in the fandom. I like to think we all mutually enable each other's ideas, with excellent results. And the #ghost 2 au that you might see pop up from my asks has definitely been a collaborative idea with a number of anons! Otherwise, my writing process is too chaotic to make co-writing really viable. I would end up being too stressed over annoying my co-writer with my disorganization.

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Daemyra quickly took root in my brain and became my forever OTP. <3

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I have confidence I'll finish all my HotD WIPs. I have an outstanding fic I wrote for The Magicians for a prompt event that is supposed to have a second chapter, but I don't know that I'll ever get around to it since all my fandom energy is spent on Daemyra these days.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I feel like I come up with some interesting premises and can push myself creatively pretty regularly. I feel like I'm good at adjusting my prose and narrative voice to suit the setting? Idk, I like my own dialogue and am not ashamed to admit I make myself laugh when writing a lot of it.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Uhhh plotting lmao. I mostly write based on vibes. Also planning, outlining, posting with any sort of regular schedule, etc. Like I said earlier about my writing process - it's pure chaos.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I use High Valyrian phrases mixed into dialogue a lot, but otherwise I'm way too lazy to write in a language other than English because I'm nowhere close to fluent in any other language, and I don't want to embarrass myself with shitty online translations.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter. Dramione was my original OTP. <3

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

My favorites change constantly depending on what mood I'm in. Here's my current fave from each of my fandoms:

So in g1 Scrapper makes art using living or dead mechs, Vortex likes torturing people in horrible ways. I can see this being a fun combo if they can actually get along or just hate fuck though it.

I think out of everyone, Scrapper (or at least my personal take on him) would be better suited to handling Vortex than the average person, but it's not like Vortex would make it easy, and, frankly, Scrapper has mecha he likes better. So the biggest stumbling block for me is coming up with a reason to shove them together that like, makes sense to the inside of my brain where the ideas come from. Ive got something cooking on the back burner about putting Vortex in his place regarding the like whole fucking sexual harrassment au that spiraled out of one onesided Hook/Vortex prompt a few months back, but I'm not sure how it'll go yet.

I feel like Vortex would make an excellent chewtoy for the Constructicons as a whole, though. I'm not sure about Long Haul specifically, but Mixmaster can use a test subject, I've read a lot of really good fics that have informed a lot of how i write Scavenger specifically where Scavenger is also a giant sadist, just, like, very creepy about it, I think Hook would enjoy having someone to practice on as long as someone else took Vortex's vox out and welded him to a table first (which tbh I feel like he'd agree to as long as he was promised a hard fuck after also), and honestly i have no justification for bonecrusher i just think it would be extremely sexy for bonecrusher to tie him to the ceiling by the wrists and use him as a punching bag while vortex just gets progressively closer to coming behind his panels fhfhfj.

this helicopter makes such a good multitool. everyone can get some kind of utility out of fucking him, or hitting him, which is basically like fucking him. it's great

kjsbfdskjb sorry i've been procrastinating this ask for almost a month now 😂. the issue is that i suck at deciding on a favourite anything. i cannot make these sorts of decisions!! and i believe it's unfair to force me have to choose LOL.

The Pact by the_deaf_pomegranate - rated E. This one is a no-powers AU where Catra's a surrogate for Bow and Glimmer. But that's a very simplistic description because there's just. SO MUCH packed into this. Like Catra has a lot of past trauma and of course that impacts Catradora's relationship. The writing is gorgeous and makes such good use of non-linear storytelling. It's so painful but with a happy ending I promise! I loved this so much!!

As long as we stay together (if we just stay together) by @herothehardway - rated M. Aaaaah this one is such a cool concept! Another no powers AU but here Catra and Adora are both astrophysicists who used to work together in...I think it was undergrad? but had a falling out. And they meet up at like a research center in the south pole where they're both working. And they slowly rebuild their friendship/relationship.

The Theatre Department series by lologoblens - rated T. This one is a series! It's a high school AU (eventually college AU) where Adora was adopted by Mara and Catra is raised by Shadow Weaver who is an abusive parent...obviously. They both have a lot of trauma to work through but it's done in such a sweet (and I think very age-appropriate) way. And they're just so lovely! (I've enjoyed everything I've read by this author tbh.)

Rot (DMBJ). Putting this one here since I haven't finished writing the last chapter yet, even though most of it is published. No lie this story totally consumed me for like a month. It was supposed to be super horror/supernatural, along the lines of The Guest, but it became a lot more low key creepy/unsettling vibes? Took me a while to stop being disappointed in it for not being what I intended, but I finally started to just appreciate it as is.

Da Qing/Shen Wei friendship quest thing (Guardian) that I started thinking about nearly a year ago and have written NOTHING for so far lol But I need more of these two being kickass awesome bros who bond over the hardships of dealing with ZYL on a daily basis.

A super depressing Wu Xie/Pangzi friendship thing that takes place during Xiaoge's time behind the gate. This whole thing literally spawned out of one line in Rot and explores the difficulties PangXie's friendship endured during that time.

PingXie ghost AU. I went to a spooky fiction writing panel a few weeks ago and one of the writers said being a ghost is basically being in a constant limbo of slowly losing your sense of self and my whole brain screeched to a halt and I mentally slammed my hand on the table and screamed XIAOGE THE SAD AMNESIAC GHOST. So that's a thing now.

Now that I'm done with uni (8 years and 4 degrees later *weeps in student*) and I don't really have a job yet (*weeps in adult*) I'm hoping to devote more time to writing. There's several on this list that are so nebulous they're not worth mentioning, because my brain keeps generating more and more even as I frantically try to get all the ideas down and beg for it to stop.

Feel free to ask me about any of these or hmu if you need a sounding board for your own ideas. I want to talk writing with people, you feel me?

This morning, I decided that I would answer an ask that I got about two days ago. It will take me some time to work on that one so, before I get around to that, I decided I would make a post about what could have happened in my latest AU, much like I did for Glory and Gore, but with a lot more information and detail toward the end. Buckle up!

This AU was going to be about 7 parts long with an epilogue to round off any loose ends, but I decided I didn't want to push myself into that again because I knew it would end up far too long and I'd be mentally drained from it. 40 pages and not even a full month later, I don't know how I thought this would be any easier than separating it into parts! 🤣

My very first outline was one I wrote just after finishing Glory and Gore and didn't include Vivien at all as it was going to be told from either Miles' POV or a 3rd POV. I was just going to use the Murphy boys, the Teen Beach gang, and have Mick's family in place of Vivien's. I'm very glad I didn't go that route tbh

If I remember correctly, I had answered a question back in December as to which AUs I could see my characters in, and, as this was my answer for Royce's, I was going to follow along with just what I had written and keep going from there. Here's the snippet:  "I can see Royce hiding Bentley in Ravenclaw Tower during the Battle of Hogwarts since Miles was helping fight and told them to stay put, but he was going to go help fight regardless. Miles sees Royce in the midst of the battle and tells him to go back inside before they get separated during the fight. Royce fights his hardest, firing off whatever spells come to mind until he’s cornered in the rubble of the castle, a Deatheater’s wand pressed to his throat..." I'm glad I didn't go with this, but, at the same time, I'd kind of like to see where that one would have gone.

According to my notes, I was going to have the Battle of Hogwarts be its own part. I had done a lot of research into different spells and what they were used for. I think it's mostly because of this that I just talked about them using spells instead of describing them since there are quite a few spells that only say what they do and not what a wizard/witch has to say in order to cast it or vice versa.

When I decided to use Royce to tell the story, I had planned on putting him in the same year as Harry and the gang, but I kind of wanted Royce's adventure to be one of his own, apart from the usual storyline - just an average Hogwarts student trying to survive. I was going to do all seven years of his schooling as well, but it would have been difficult for me as there's no information available as to what Hogwarts was like after the Second Wizarding War apart from the fact that McGonagall took over as Headmistress.

This AU was going to have a very emotional story, especially toward the end. I really wanted to dabble with my dark side for this AU. The original name for it in Google Docs (as a joke to myself, mostly) was "The One Where They All Die" and was going to have a lot of death, hence the name. On the list of the dead, we have Mick, Bentley, Vivien, and Miles. I was also on the fence as to whether or not to kill off Lela, but I never could decide. Now, just for fair warning, I have used the next few paragraphs (until the next bullet) to go deeper into the deep, dark pit that was my brain when I was writing this out.

Bentley's death probably wouldn't have been written out in detail, but he would have been the first of the group to die as Royce would have tried to hide him in Ravenclaw Tower or the Room of Requirement. In the films, Ravenclaw Tower can be seen on fire during the battle and we all know that the Potter crew + Malfoy's gang set the Room of Requirement on fire with Fiendfyre as well, meaning Bentley would have either been trapped in either room, and been killed, or he would have escaped, only to be found dead later on. Royce wouldn't know he was even dead until after the battle when more bodies were brought in and he was one of them.

Mick would have died while they were fighting off the seven Death Eaters in the west wing, making it even more heartbreaking as Miles, Carrie, Butchy, and Royce would have seen it happen when they got there. Whether she would have died instantly through the Killing Curse or if it would have taken just a little bit of time was something I hadn't decided on, but I wanted it to be a very sudden thing where they didn't even get the chance to say goodbye or tell her they love her one last time before getting pulled into the battle once again.

Vivien's death wouldn't have been written out like Mick's or maybe even Bentley's. In my opinion, she would have been fighting with the Gryffindor team and would have been hit trying to protect someone else. She died a hero's death, something any Gryffindor would be proud of... right? She would have been brought into the Great Hall by Oliver Wood and Katie Bell when they brought in the injured. Vivien would have been lined up with the rest of the bodies where Royce would eventually find her during the one-hour intermission.

Miles would have died before the intermission as well, without Royce knowing. In fact, much like Bentley's death, Royce wouldn't know until after the entire battle was over. Miles' death could have gone one of two ways - heroic or accidental. I had been leaning toward accidental and I hope you can see why. In the heroic route, Miles would have been protecting either Carrie or Butchy when it happened. The spell was aimed at one of the others, but Miles jumped in front of them, a Shield Charm on the tip of his tongue. He never would have gotten the chance to say it before getting hit. In the accidental route, Miles would have died just after Royce's group met up with him and Mick in the upper west wing. When they went around the corner, into the hallway, he would have been separated from the group by a curse that had blown part of the wall into the hallway. He'd tell everyone to keep going and that he'd see them later, only to die the same way Fred Weasley did in the movies - getting hit by an explosion.

Now, this is where it goes a bit darker, something I didn't think was possible for me until I began writing this AU.

I had such a vivid scene in my head of Royce finding Miles and Bentley in the Great Hall, so here it is. He'd search the Great Hall until he found Butchy, Lela, and Carrie, hugging them as tightly as possible before asking them if they'd seen his brothers. They hadn't, so they go looking for them, only to find them next to each other in the row of dead people on the floor.

As much as I don't want to, I can imagine the pain they'd all go through in that moment. The crying, the screaming, the agony they'd all experience. After a while, they might force themselves away to get their emotions under control or push themselves to the side to let everything out in a rage. All the while, Royce would sit on the floor between his brothers, holding their hands and trying to convince himself it wasn't real. After all, they weren’t dead. They couldn’t be. His brothers would wake up eventually, right? Right?

After a while, the others would try to convince Royce to eat something with them so the bodies could be brought away, but he would adamantly refuse unless Miles and Bentley would be there too. Instead of arguing with him, the group would sit together on the floor. They'd all lost so much that day that arguing when they were all grieving, seemed pointless. After a while, Uncle Tommy would come, trying to move Royce from the spot he'd been in for hours, only to have to physically pry him away from his brothers, getting kicked and scratched and screamed at until Royce finally collapsed and allowed himself to cry for the first time.

The summer would be too quiet for Royce to handle. There would be no letters from Vivien to scratch out responses to, no calls from Mick about the wedding she would have been planning with Butchy, no humming from Bentley's side of their shared room while he created more artwork to hang on their walls, no late-night talks with Miles by the fireplace about anything and everything. Royce wouldn't be able to sleep in his room much as there would be no soft breathing coming from Bentley's side of the room anymore so he would usually make his way to the living room before passing out on the couch.

According to my notebook, the very last line of this version would have been, "Suddenly, for the very first time in my life, I knew what Bentley meant when he used to say that he was scared of being alone because, now, I was the one who felt truly and completely alone."

Now, I don't want to leave this post on that heavy of a note, so I'm going to give you some light at the end of that very deep, very dark tunnel. If I were to write an epilogue for this AU, I would do the same thing we all got in the ending of Deathly Hallows - a time skip. This skip would bring us about 15-20 years after the Battle of Hogwarts. Miles and Carrie would have gotten married and probably had some kids who were Hogwarts age by then, as would Mick and Butchy and, probably, Tanner and Lela.

Royce and Vivien would have probably gotten married around 2003, two years after their graduation from Hogwarts and I could see them waiting a few years before trying to have kids, if they ever did. If anything, I think they'd offer to help everyone else with their kids as more and more kept coming. In my personal experience, helping their family members raise their kids would give them a taste of what they could expect if they were to have kids of their own and they could just decide not to have them and stick to being the 'cool/fun aunt and uncle' to all of the little rugrats.

If they'd decide to have their own kids, just imagine how spoiled they would be when they'd go shopping for Hogwarts stuff! Imagine Royce and Vivien are too busy to go back-to-school shopping, so they ask Miles and Carrie to take the kid instead. Big mistake! Miles would buy them all sorts of crap they don't need and Carrie would have to drag him out of every store in sight to try getting him to stick to the list Royce and Vivien had given them. Butchy and Mick would be no better. Mick would be doing her damndest to get the kid stuff while Butchy would be trying to corral them into following the rules, but I think we all know he'd agree to whatever if given Mick's Puppy Dog Eyes™ mixed with a "Please, Uncle Butchy!" from the kid.

The fondness I have for this idea is immense, but I don't know if I'd ever get around to writing it out any further than this. These are just some ideas and outlines I've had either in my head or in my notes/docs. It feels really good to have them all typed out for you to see, honestly! I can't wait to start on the next AU but I'm giving myself a little bit of time to do some research and stuff before I start writing it all out. Hopefully, I'll be posting again soon, whether it be a prompt, an AU, or an answer to that question I was sent. Anyway, have a great day!

honestly, the yukari and ryoji friendship hcs have very much been living rent free in my mind since i saw that first post about them playing minecraft together! they'd float across my brain at least once or twice a month and i'd go "YEAHH THIS IS WHAT THEY DESERVE!"

so in that respect, im flattered to hear that you thought of me while writing the second part- and if you ever consider writing more for them (fic or hc list form, or any medium really, shitposts are also included in that LOL), im always down to see it! 👀

but YESS that friendship dynamic... literally chef's kiss tbh. i love unlikely combos of friends and i think yukari and ryoji represent that rather well! its nice thinking that over time, yukari can warm up to ryoji's silly antics (i am sure he has an infinite amount of them, lmao). plus, i feel that yukari can show ryoji a lot of cool things as well, whether if it's her perspective from being popular, or just some hobbies that she's into!

and i think it's especially funny that you added the MC to the mix too in that last remark... must be weird for minato or hamuko to observe yukari laughing with ryoji over something stupid rather than yukari being like >:c or something at him 😂 (i'm terrible at words help!). in any case i am sure that all three of them are getting along great!

fandoms i write for: atm it is pretty much just ASOIAF! Predominantly JB. Anyone else/any other ship is secondary, really. Back in the times before tumblr even existed I played in Merlin: Gwen/Arthur and then Gwen/Merlin after the show went to pot. And more recently but before I returned to tumblr, I wrote one Star Wars fic, a character study of Leia.

two-shot: I don’t think I’ve ever done a two-shot!

most popular multi-chapter: it’s not much (but my money’s on you) Which honestly is a complete surprise because I figured many folks would be entirely politicked out. But I love it and I’m glad it’s also working for some others 💕

actual worst part of writing: editingggggg. Why can’t it all come out right the first timeeeeeeeeeeee.

how you choose your chapter titles: i actually like choosing chapter/fic titles! Often I choose them around the beginning of writing, and so far it’s roughly split between song lyrics and a quote borrowed from the source material.

do you outline: For multi-chapters: ish…? Usually I get super excited, outline everything, then get to writing and the characters do/say something unanticipated or I get another idea/want to explore something else, and then the old outline gets pushed down the page as the top of the page fills with new details and ideas and character notes. Or as with the politics AU currently, the rewritten outline for the remainder of the fic is sitting at the bottom of the chapter 11 draft. I’ll also have additional outline notes scattered in various notebooks or apps on my phone or in emails to myself. At that point I know the shape of the story in my brain and typically work in 2-3 chapter chunks at a time.

For one-shots: heh, I started answering this one way and then came to a different conclusion. So the answer is yes, by a certain view on outlining. It isn’t a case of numbering or bullet points, but more like notes scattered down the page of what’s happening next or emotional beats to land. If it gets to the point where numbering and bullet points are needed, it typically then falls over into a multi-chapter... 

ideas I probably won’t get around to but wouldn’t it be nice: I have this crack fic I’ve been poking at for over a year whereby Brienne’s meant to be the honeypot but feels so awkward about it that Jaime takes over - that started out with them in law enforcement but moved into them as Robin Hood/Leverage-esque thieves. I did borrow a bit from the rough draft and expanded it out into a fic about their first kiss which I really like. There’s a lot about that concept I like (thieves! Brienne is desperately touch staved! Jaime is a heartsore shard! They steal Podrick! It’s mushy! Did I mention thieves???) But anyway it’s a whole lotta concepts and lacks a whole lotta plot, so. Never say never, but.

The other big one in this category is the book canon fic playing with the “but what if LSH has moved on by the time JB arrive at the (former) BWB camp?” thing I ramble about below. I’d say about 85% of that is written and every few months I pull it out and dust it off, so this one might one day come to be...? It’s mostly feelings anyway, tbh.

callouts @ me: I have not yet been called out by one of the masses, though confess I am sort of curious what someone might say! If I were calling myself out: probably things don’t need to be edited to within an inch of their lives maybe 🥴

best writing traits: I think I capture emotionality relatively well! And I like that I do fairly divergent things by way of story setting and theme. (Theme, ish. Almost all my fics can be boiled down to one central thesis but 😌😶‍🌫️)

spicy tangential opinion(s):

Lessee: poss my spiciest by way of diverging from what seems to be the agreed fanon is that I don’t think Brienne took to knighthood and swords just because her romantic dreams were squelched. I think she’s inherently inclined to both.

Second spiciest is perhaps that I agree with the fandom that a lot of Jaime’s gentleness got buried by his family BUT I think he was also always a bit sharp.

Aaaaand to round things out, I’ve got a nearly complete answered ask in my drafts wherein I talk myself into thinking that JB will *not* meet LSH immediately in Winds. I think LSH & co will have moved on by the time Brienne gets Jaime there, and that the ultimate confrontation will involve Arya as well, and possibly Sansa. BUT I caveat that my asoiaf reading and recollection is patchy so I’m open to discussion but, like, casual discussion haha 👀👻

okay so i’ve been going crazy these past few days. all about cockles/jensmish and obsessively watching their panels or reading the transcripts BECAUSE. THEY ARE LOUD. LIKE. i saw some fancams on twt and i thought people were just exaggerating but noooooooooo!!!???? so, getting to the point. you said that how do we know that jensen is performing masculinity? because jared isn’t and THAT IS A BIG BRAIN MOMENT. ON POINT. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. a particular moment from gag reel that jumps out (which you’ve talked about) when jensen goes ‘cas, you are my baby daddy’ and misha goes, ‘i know i love you too’ and jensen goes, ‘i didn’t say i love you’ and misha goes, ‘i know you wanted to’ and jensen says, ‘i love you’ WHAT THE FUCK! that was NOT a joke. yes, people took it as a joke and had a good laugh BUT I HAVE WATCHED IT TOO MANY TIMES AND IT LIVES IN MY MIND RENT FREE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A PERFORMANCE. THAT WAS JENSEN. THAT WAS MISHA. jensen has a had trouble with the pda and being all touch feely (the breakup theory) and he gradually grew into it, accepted it and misha was right there all along, never pushed it. it was like a deancas au but tbh, 99% of destiel is because of cockles and we all know it. i just. jensen has latched onto dean as an emotional support because he tunes with it. understands it. projects on to it. yeah, i just had to say it and get it off my chest. (and what about those poetry pages on instagram? alma? what is your opinion?) btw, you have a lovely blog and your analysis are right on target.

so there is a LOT i’m going to address here(how dare you bring up [gunshot] i HAVE to talk about it now) so again!!!! under a cut it goes but i hope you appreciate my rambles anon it seems like you do :,)

1. jared vs. jensen and performing masculinity. hell yeah man. jared and jensen are both just ‘guys from texas’ but they are still so vastly different. today i actually had a revelation that i’m pretty sure has to do with me being bi. and it’s that i have a group of straight friends(that i love dearly but they care too much about hockey and pitbull imo could not be me) and i have a group of queer friends(who are also batshit[affectionate]). and it’s like whichever group i hang out with a different side of me emerges? they’re both me, it’s just that certain aspects of who i am as a person only surface depending on who i am around. however, i will say i feel like i watch what i say around my straight friends more. i see that very clearly in jensen as well. around jared during panels and on set, he’s definitely putting on an air of machismo and engages in typical guy talk. i do think an element of it is performative, because he wants validation from jared that they’re still just two dudes from texas taking on the world together despite his sexual identity. does that make any sense??? i hope so. but when he’s with misha he is an entirely different person and his sense of humour becomes wildly different. the machismo fades away, he’s way less caught up in what people think about him, lets his guard down, etc. to go back to my original point which is how j2 are different in that regard....jared does not do this. he is a constant. he does not flip a switch between ‘performing masculinity’ and ‘not’ because he isn’t performing any part of who he is. he just IS. so yeah these two are similar in many regards but there’s somewhat of a dissonance between them when it comes to how they perform masculinity because one of them is putting on a show and the other is merely being.

2. that crypt scene blooper(here just in case you need to see it again. do it. as a treat.) when i tell you i have easily seen this over thirty times??? since it first came out??? i mean it. it is such an overlooked(r*mantic) moment and it means so much more than people think it does. i’ve talked about the context behind it, and i think that’s why this blooper was so meaningful, so i’ll mention it again. jensen and misha had a LOT of trouble with this scene. the reason is that jensen couldn’t wrap his head around why dean would be saying these things, if i remember correctly, and both of them sat down and scoured over how they should play it for a while before filming(teamwork ;) teammates *ahem*). [to be honest we all know why jensen had a hard time with that scene and it is because it is blatantly romantic. rip to him but i would simply give in to it at that point but oh well] so anyway, their heads were scattered going into shooting, which is NEVER a good headspace to be in for a scene, ESPECIALLY not a pivotal one. but they had each other to help them through said weird energy on set that couldn’t possibly have invoked the best feelings, especially considering jensen STILL doesn’t think he played that correctly(but he praised misha on his performance :,) ). and with that context every single part of that video hits haRD 

-’stop pulling my face towards your crotch’ i think this is objectively hilarious because it really really looks like jensen is pulling HIMSELF towards misha’s crotch. again, you’re fooling no one, jensen. misha’s wheezing laugh and the way he wraps himself around jensen is also,,,sweet??? like i don’t know how else to describe how i see it but this moment really reads as jensen, in his weird ‘constructing elaborate rituals’ way is asking for security through a physical touch from misha and he happily obliges and gives jensen what he needs. because i mean...watch it again. jensen ‘fights back’, but not really at all, actually. pretty wimpy counterattack. he literally lets himself be smothered by misha, and i would literally describe what they end up doing as cuddling. 

-’i need you, cas. you’re my baby daddy’ i love having an actor’s perspective on things bc i think i can explain what’s going on here. jensen just delivered what was(in his own mind) a rotten take of the lines he’s most scared of delivering. so the scene was already messed up. therefore; ensuing fuckery is warranted to help him feel better. but there’s also for sure more than meets the eye for what he says here because of misha’s reaction after??? like he seemed genuinely touched. first of all, he’s saying ‘you’re my baby daddy’ as half-jensen, but not necessarily dean either(because he didn’t say the previous lines as true to his character...you get it), to misha, not cas. i think i’ve made this point before, but every single innuendo in the gag reels is to misha specifically, never once cas. therefore; logical conclusion: ‘you’re my baby daddy’ was for misha and it meant something deeper than we think because of what follows it

-this part. jensen’s giddy ass smile after he sees misha crack and then misha says ‘yeah, i know’ (can i just say his voice when he says this is so intimate???? like am i intruding guys??? sorry i’ll let myself out) also he is smiling SO BIG

- ‘i know’ ‘why are you laughing?’ ‘no i know i love you too’ this analysis is already so long but i still want to get into what THAT whole exchange means. ‘why are you laughing?’ to me sounds like jensen’s pretending to be affronted by misha laughing at something that is serious. and it’s serious because he quite literally meant ‘i love you’. he did. misha knows it. misha’s really REALLY good at cutting the bs and just getting to what people are actually trying to say. he has an innate sharpness to his sense of humour. so yes, misha is being 100% accurate when he says ‘i know, but you wanted to say it.’ misha isn’t lying here. jensen did want and mean to say ‘i love you’. and then he actually does say it(in a jokey way but not really). 

- so yeah. it is actually so romantic??? like in a weird way jensen was professing his love for misha here?????? and that’s why this clip will NEVER. ever. get old. 

3. jensen having trouble with pda and projecting onto dean: we can all call ourselves dean coded cas girls but NO one deserves that title more than jensen ackles himself. he is dean winchester but marginally less repressed because he actually did admit he was in love with his best friend and let himself be happy, and pretty early on too. one year and two months as opposed to twelve years. so. happy deancas au is correct. and yes about the pda thing: one day i want to write my own post about both of their body language when it comes to each other, but all i can tell is jensen, even in the early days, couldn’t help himself from flirting with misha, but if misha ever crossed a line, jensen would not be happy. clearly he’s come around, however. what i find sweet is that misha always follows jensen’s lead when it comes to how much affection they’re allowed to show each other onstage. it touches my soul

4. destiel is cockles fault. yeah. and the thing is everyone knows it, too. even non-cockles shippers will explain early destiel as entirely dependant on jensen and misha’s wild chemistry. and that chemistry is easily explained by the fact that misha and jensen are literally just wildly horny bisexuals who were crazily attracted to one another and were falling in love on screen before our very eyes. and when you have THAT insider info(which sounds cray doesn’t it!!!! the destiel actors are in love irl??? huh???) everything really does click into place. why destiel got SO popular when the show and actors never ever intended for it to happen.(i know some people think misha was playing cas as gay the whole time for shits and giggles, and i won’t deny that[especially considering he found out early on that destiel was why he was staying on the show], but i don’t think he really wanted it to amount to anything, nor did he care??? i mean he has the real thing with jensen, for one, so their characters aren’t really as important. for two, he loves joking about destiel because it’s a cultural phenomenon and it’s fascinating, and i’m sure he did ship it because he’s unhinged, but i don’t think it was vastly important to him either way.) destiel got popular because everyone was and is unintentionally reading into the real deal. i could pull up countless gifs that people have used as destiel proof that is actually just jensen and misha being messy. mainly jensen. if i’m being honest.  the symbiotic relationship between destiel and cockles is why i’ve stayed onboard the destielcule and shellerscape for three solid months now; because it is utterly fascinating to witness and kind of super beautiful, too. 

5. alma(and others). so. i do NOT want to really REALLY get into this in its entirety here and now so i will just give you my opinion on if i think alma is misha or not. also; i don’t want to mention the other poetry accounts here bc i feel like that’s a bigger breach in privacy, but a lot of people do know about alma now. way too many, actually. this is why we can’t have nice things. anyway-to answer your question-there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that yes, misha is running that alma poetry account. i am 100% certain. some people think it’s actually three people and they’re all connected to misha in some way but that is so needlessly complicated. as it goes in psychology; the easiest explanation is probably the right one. it’s just one person running that account, and it is misha collins. i don’t know why it’s so hard to believe KNOWN POET misha collins(who is known to spend most of his free time writing poetry anyway) would have created a secret poetry account to write about his intense secret relationship under an alias and also get legitimate feedback since no one used to know it was him. oh and the handwriting is identical??? you are blind if you do not see that i am sorry. and a million other things prove it’s misha too but yeah all you need to know is yes. it’s him. it would take a literal livestream from a random woman on that account to convince me otherwise. and honestly not even that because a random woman could technically still log in if misha asked her too. so. it would take a hell of a lot to convince me otherwise, clearly. that said DO NOTTTTTTTTTTTT GO ONTO THAT ACCOUNT WITH A SUPERNATURAL RELATED USERNAME AND COMMENT THINGS THAT ARE COCKLES RELATED. ARE YOU BRAIN DEAD WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT’S OKAY. sorry i got heated but god please just don’t be dumb so many people have already gone way too far

5) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Oh gosh. Uhm. I don’t really write angsty endings? All my fics have Happy Endings and most have epilogues to round them out and tie them up in a bow. Perhaps I’d say If You’re Out There (I’ll Find You Somehow) purely because (spoiler ahead) the epilogue is written 100 years into the future so they’ve both passed.

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

Interestingly, I would actually say the answer is the same as above, If You’re Out There (I’ll Find You Somehow). The epilogue is so uplifting and I cry happy tears every time I re-read it. It’s written from the POV of their granddaughter and you get to see the world they had a hand in changing for the better through her eyes, so you get a sense of how impactful their lives were on the rest of society. Oof, tearing up right now just thinking about it.

7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

Yeah, I have actually. I really enjoy doing new takes on an existing universes, although they aren’t always the easiest thing to pull off tbh. I’m not sure which I would say is the craziest, but the hardest to write was definitely The Peter Pan/Hook AU.

Harry Poppins - Loosely based on the book/movie Mary Poppins, but without any magical aspects.

Playing To Win - Set in the Big Brother house.

The Pirate and The Piper - A Peter Pan/Hook AU which I took a lot of liberties with.

In The Still Of The Night - My Dirty Dancing AU.

A Hungry Heart - This is a Great British Bake Off AU that is due out in September for the Cliche Fic Fest!

8) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Whoa Nelly. Yeah, I do. All the time. Every fic actually. There’s only one, Exposed, the only fic I’ve published that’s not rated Explicit and doesn’t have smut. But, to be fair, the challenge was to write exactly 666 words and I still managed to get the implication in there. Plus, Louis was naked and Harry was applying body paint for the majority of the story, so like, I think I can get a free pass on that one - I tried!

In terms of what type of smut, I guess it varies depending on the story. I tend not to push the boat out too far, but I do dabble in BDSM in quite a few of my fics. A recurring theme in the comments I receive is that my smut scenes are well constructed and detailed, without being too tedious or drawn out, which is lovely feedback to get because they can be challenging to write.

9) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Absolutely. Every single one.

10) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not often, people are usually so kind, but there have been a couple.

11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I’m aware of!

12) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yeah, quite a lot, particularly on Wattpad, all with my full consent. That said, I’m thinking of stopping this because it’s getting a bit out of hand and I’ve been feeling uncomfortable about it recently for various reasons that I won’t bore you with here. 

13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope! I don’t think it’s really my thing tbh. I get very in my head about writing and struggle even to brainstorm or share too much until I’m well into a story.

14) What’s your all time favorite ship?

Of the 47 fics I’ve written, there are 45 Larry, 1 Narry, and 1 Louis/Dermot O’Leary (I think mine is still the only fic with this ship hahahaa), so that’s probably a good indication of my fave writing ship.

15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I have one lonely WIP sitting on AO3 from 2018. I keep promising myself I’ll finish it and it’s on my schedule every year, then I get distracted by other fics/fests and it gets pushed back. Plus, it needs a complete rewrite because my style has developed so much since I started it, so it’ll be a big job. Based on that, I think that the fic, in its current form, won’t ever be finished as the rewrite will completely wipe out what it was, although the underlying plot will still be there.

16) What are your writing strengths?

World building (or so I’m often told). I write very visually and people often say they can imagine the scene exactly, or that it’s like a movie, or that they think it’s actually a real place I’m describing, when most of the time it absolutely isn’t, it’s just something I’ve created in my weird brain.

17) What are your writing weaknesses?

Dialogue (although my lovely beta disagrees) and telling rather than showing. They’re both things I’m actively working on.

18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I’ve never really considered it. It’s not something I’d shy away from necessarily, but it’s just never come up.

19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

One Direction. First and only.

20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Wow. This is really tough because it changes over time. I find that once I’ve finished a fic I don’t want to revisit it for a few months because I’m kind of over it. But I find comfort in them after a while, like I get to go back to that happy place and immerse myself in that world and the characters again, similar to catching up with an old friend. It’s familiar. I think I also like different stories for different reasons and I’m drawn to various ones depending on my mood. My top 3 (although, ask me next week and the list will probably be completely different!) would probably be:

1. If You’re Out There (I’ll Find You Somehow). Written for the hybrid fic fest (a fest I created just for this fic lol). It’s not everyone’s cup of tea due to the hybrid aspect, but it’s one of the stories I feel is the most rounded from a character development perspective and the world building was pretty epic, if I can be so bold as to throw that out there myself!

2. No Going Back. One of my Big Bangs from 2020. I adore the way their relationship develops in this fic and the setting (as remote lighthouse keepers) was such a lot of fun to write. Plus I got to collaborate with an amazing artist who created an entire website as an accompanying travel blog which was truly wonderful.

3. From The Heart. This is a series I wrote for wordplay back in 2019. I had no idea that what I was doing was so unusual and so meta by having Louis essentially write for the equivalent of wordplay in the fic. It was such an fun way to share my writing process and challenges I encounter (exactly how many synonyms tabs do I have open at any one time?!) and I thoroughly enjoyed the outcome (although getting there was definitely a struggle).

you know i get asked this a lot and i feel like my answer is just always "yes". the answer is yes. all of writing is actually hard for me in one way or another. i struggle a lot with dialogue (i'm always worried in the back of my head that i'm writing people ooc) and action sequences or just location descriptions are very hard for me because both involve spaces or characters moving through spaces and i have aphantasia, so i cannot see SHIT in my head. i said a little while ago every time i'm writing a specific location, i'm pulling up google maps street view to cruise around and that's why. for the abba au chapter seven, i actually had like eight tabs about bailey island and harpswell, maine open looking at things like directions to the nearest iHOP lol.

also i think i've mentioned it before but just opening a word doc to start writing is often really hard for me. executive dysfunction and all that. very often my brain really wants like the serotonin hit of getting a comment or a reward for posting (instant gratification monkey) so writing is very difficult if it's like, a multichapter update because those get essentially no reaction compared to, say, a oneshot i post that will get a few comments in the day or so after posting. or a more niche fic i personally love but know no one will read. i have started to learn a lot about ao3 stats within the fandom and it's really fucked with my head when i'm writing (i diagnose myself with recovering clout chaser) so writing overall can be....just really hard for me.

9. what's your writing process like?

mmm not super exciting really. right now i usually hand-write my outlines in a journal i carry around (i stg it's always in church, i outline all my fics in church....from the abba au to hell is empty to planetarium stickers it has ALL been there) just to get the juices going. then when i have time (right now that is just. always.) i sit down, type the outline into a word doc, usually adding bits and bobs as they come to me (for example, "home never home always" from true north popped into my head while outlining it) and throwing in scenes that i might already have lying around. the compass tattoo from that fic was something that's been sitting in my ideas note doc for months, and the for want of a nail scene was something i vaguely drafted at my old job last year.

after that i kinda just. write. usually i have to have "santa monica dream" or an instrumental song/playlist looping. generally i write in my room but sometimes i make myself go downstairs in my house. used to, i would go write in the coffee shop on campus or the laundromat when i was in college. i should go to a coffeeshop to write more but frankly i can't afford to buy coffee that much lol. anyways, i also usually have to have a fic titled before i get into working on it. most of my aus end up with titles before i even finish outlining—it's normally stuff pulled from songs, though one of my friends has gotten me onto a two-word title kick recently. i come up with title ideas sometimes and just put them into the notes app on my phone. fun little screenshot of that for u!

i will usually write a fic over a course of a few weeks. rarely it will take a few days (planetarium stickers was four days total) or months (my clingyduo fic took seven months), really just depends on my motivation and what's going on irl for me. every time i open the doc to keep working, i reread the entire fic up to where i left off and proofread/edit as i do. that way it's usually been through several rounds of editing before it ever makes it onto my ao3, with only a few exceptions like true north which i wrote in two days and had to deal with my typos after posting lol.

We’ve mentioned Tony’s thoughts about legacy multiple times by now, and I think this song really represents Tony looking forward to the person Peter could be become and that “breaking the cycle” mentality of supporting Peter even when he’s not a perfect father.

Legacy of Sadness by Ron Pope

irrational as it may seem I guess I’m sorry, even though I know that none of it’s my fault, it is easier for me to count my blessings, than to cry for every single thing we’ve lost

I have 0 shame putting these two songs by Ron Pope almost back to back because they’re the opening and closing of an album dedicated to his child like...it’s so perfect for Tony and this theme of reflection on who he is and who Peter will become/is becoming and all that entails.

Tony being a busy parent but doing his best to make time for Peter in his life and making that time count has been something super important to illustrate to us, especially the transition from being a CEO to being a superhero and how that changes how Peter sees Tony’s absence over time.

Tony puts on the original version by Tom Petty in Home Is Where The Heart Is, but I think this cover has a very slow, emotional undertone that’s really great too. The interludes, if you didn’t catch it, have all been featured in a fic previously.
