Bowser’s Summer Funtime Write-A-Thon!

EVENT DETAILS

Starting Date: Every Monday starting JUNE 21, 2021 through SEPTEMBER 20, 2021, the TBHFanExchange will be posting weekly writing prompts on this tumblr and the event twitter account. Each weekly post will have 6 different prompts and the prompts themselves will be 1-3 words maximum.

There will be 14 prompt weeks total with no prompt post on 9/27/21 so that there is still time to write a fic for the last prompt list.

Ending Date: SEPTEMBER 30th, 2021. This is the last day you can submit a fic to the event moderator and have it be counted toward your contest entries. This is also the deadline to be included in the round-up post of fics.

What to write? There are NO word minimums or maximums! You can treat all the prompts at a One Sentence Challenge if you want, write a mult-chapter fic, or just drabble ‘em all. You can write an individual fic for each prompt or you can combine them all into one fic. It’s up to you! The event is designed to be flexible throughout. Just make sure to submit a link to your fic to a moderator if you want to be entered into the contest for a TBH goodie bag AND the usual round-up post after the event is over.

There’s a contest with a prize?!?!!? That’s right! You can submit one (1) fanfic per prompt list for an entry (14 entries max) into a contest for some TBH goodies (see pic below). Your fanfic must primarily be a Teenage Bounty Hunters fanfic (AUs/crossovers are fine if the TBH characters are the primary characters of the fic). At the end of the event, the mods will randomly choose at least two (2) participants from the submitted entries. One goodie bag per participant. Must be willing to provide a mailing address for the prize to be shipped.

Bowser thinks Blair and Sterling are spending too much time loitering around Yogurtopia. Sure, they’re working their part-time jobs, but they keep showing up when they’re not on shift and they keep bugging him about skips and just let us tag along, pleeeeeease.

He’s already told them a thousand times, “Not until you’re eighteen and you both get your license.” He’s not interested in revisiting the gauntlet of lectures from Yolanda and the twins’ parents, not one bit.

“Here you go, girls,” Bowser says as he hands them both a froyo cup while they lounge on his office couch. He adds with a sarcastically sweet voice and smile, “Have fun!”

Blair frowns when she looks into her cup. “This is not froyo or gummy bears,” she says, looking at Bowser like he has personally offended her.

Sterling grabs one of the pieces of paper in her cup, unfolds it, and reads out loud, “ ‘ocean waves’. What’s this?” she asks.

“This one says ‘ice cream’,” Blair says, then asks Bowser very seriously, “This isn’t like, early on-set dementia, is it? Like, you know you sell frozen yogurt, right?”

Sterling gasps in shock. “Oh, no! Bowser, is the heat getting to you? It’s like almost a hundred degrees outside. Are you nauseous? Do you feel cold or clammy? Headache? You could have heat exhaustion!”

Bowser sighs that special sigh that only the twins can bring out. “I am aware that I sell frozen yogurt. No, I do not have a headache, but I’m about to get one if you two don’t stop asking me questions before I finish.”

The twins sit up a little straighter on the couch while Bowser hands them each a notebook and a pencil. “I figure if you two are hanging around here so much, you must be bored out of your minds. So I thought you could use something to keep you occupied.”

“We’re not bored,” Sterling tries to protest, but Blair’s grimace says otherwise.

“Welcome to,” Bowser throws his hands up in a who-gives-a-shit gesture, “Bowser’s Summer Funtime. No hanging out here doing nothing. You gotta write.”

“This is…this is homework,” Blair says in a ill-disguised whisper of horror to Sterling.

Bowser rolls his eyes. “Writing is good for the brain. Also, the bounty license exam has a written part, so this will keep your skills sharp.”

“Yeah, I don’t know that ocean waves and ice cream are gonna do that.” Blair makes an attempt to hand everything back over to Bowser.

Bowser pushes the items back at Blair. “Those are for inspiration. Give you two some ideas to write about.”

“Aww, you gave us writing prompts!” Sterling exclaims excitedly.

“Do not,” Bowser puts a hand up to stop Sterling, “start acting like this is some big thing. You two are trouble when you’re bored. This is a proactive measure.”

Sterling pouts. “We’re not that bad.”

“We kinda are.” Blair admits at the same time.

Bowser has already sighed once in the last five minutes and he really tries to keep it to a one-sigh limit. “Look, if you two actually do this and you do not drive me crazy while you’re at it, then I’ll—I dunno—I’ll throw in a prize or whatever motivates you kids these days.”

The wild look in Blair’s eyes is immediately concerning. “Bounty hunting?!”

“Just write.”

Bowser’s Write-A-Thon Update

OMG I can’t believe the event is over!! We'll be making sure we've got an accurate tally of the entries over the weekend (I know I said we'd announce winners today, but life likes to get in the way) and a nice round-up post to go with the winners announcement.

Hello! So emotions are still pretty raw following Netflix’s transgressions, and if you’re like us and having trouble processing, join us in April’s Drabble Fest! 

This event is designed to create tons of little tales depicting all our favorite characters from TBH using prompts submitted by the fandom!

EVENT RULES: Submission Box:

Try to keep your prompts short and sweet so that the prompt list will be easier to read and less cluttered. For example: -a ship or character -one to a few randomly picked prompt words -a fanfic tropes (coffee shop date, road trip, fake dating, etc.) -theme (future fic, college, alternate universe, hurt/comfort, etc.)-short quote or sentence 

You can submit as many prompts as you want! The more we get, the more writers can play around with.

YOU CAN SUBMIT PROMPTS WITHOUT HAVING TO WRITE A DRABBLE, THOUGH IT IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. 

Drabble Parameters: 

Once the official prompt list is posted, write for any/all prompts that inspire you! Don’t worry about repeating a prompt someone else did, the more the merrier! You can post anytime between April 1st-30th!

Aim for 300 words minimum. We're not going to hold you tight to this or police this policy. It's just a general recommendation. And we obviously won’t mind if your drabble becomes more of a fic length either! The goal is to merely make as much new writing as possible for all of us to enjoy!

Wherever you post your drabble (whether it's on twitter, tumblr, or AO3), please DM a link to this blog ( @tbhfanexchange​ ) or one of the mods @tornainbow​ or @jimalim​ to make sure your drabble is included in the round-up masterlist.       

This event is open to all TBH characters, ships, and prompts! 

EVENT SCHEDULE:

March 12th to March 28th: Submission box will be open for prompts! We're closing it a little early so we have some time to compile the list and get it ready to go live on April 1st. Make sure to share the prompt box post so we can get as many as possible! 

April 1st: Prompt list goes live! We will likely make it a google doc that is accessible for everyone. We may also post the list on it's own under a cut on the blog. 

April 30th: The mods will start compiling a list of the drabbles posted over the month. Keep writing to your heart's desire, but we can't guarantee that anything posted after the 30th will be included in the masterlist post. 

Sometime in the first week of May: Mods will post the masterlist for the event!

While this is a fic centric event, please don’t let that stop you from making any other kinds of content if you prefer! We are more than happy to accommodate any gifs, edits, fanart, fanvid, etc submissions if that’s your jam!
