I just had. A realization.

So in season 1 in the second or third episode I straight up forget and then again in tbobf chapter 5 the armorer asks both if Din has removed his helmet or had it removed by others. These are seen as two separate, distinct transgressions.

In Chapter 4, Omera attempts to take off Din’s helmet. Din isn’t ready for this. It isn’t his own choice, not really. He then stops her.

In Chapter 8, IG-11 removes his helmet, creating a loophole for Din that he isn’t really alive so it’s fine. No rules broken. Still not his choice though.

BUT, in Chapters 15 & 16, Din removes the helmet himself of his own volition. Enough doubt in the people who raised him has been sown, enough attachment to Grogu has been created, he’s ready to cross that boundary by his own choice.

5, genuinely don’t remember what I named it (newtmas, TMR, 2018)

The first fic I ever wrote! I don’t think I put it anywhere but it was the first. And it totally set the scene of my future fics, because it was an emotionally charged conversation *jazzhands*. It’s buried somewhere in one of email accounts ggd but I’d really rather not dig it up bc ew.

4, how ironic (newtmas, TMR, 2019)

The first fic I ever put on Ao3 and perhaps my favourite out of my TMR fics. There’s not a lot of reasoning behind this one.

3 [podfic] tag (Newtmas, TMR, 2020)

This was my first podfic, and therefore holds a special place in my heart. Though my household rarely meets the conditions I need to record, especially since covid, I do love podfics and podficcing. Besides this the fic I podficced is like my Experimental Fic (affectionate) that was really just me throwing a bunch of thoughts about TMR on a page w no dialogue. all around it holds a spot in my heart even if I can absolutely not ever listen to it again.

I wrote this the day after the TBOBF finale dropped bc if I didn’t get my feelings about it out I felt like it was going to eat me. I could describe the writing process behind this one as feverish. Besides the rather unique circumstances behind it I just genuinely like how it turned out. By god do I regret how long the name is though.

1, harbinger (bobadin, SW, current WIP)

Harbringer is the fic I’m working on for bobadinbingo. It has kind of spiralled out of control and grown into something much bigger, both literally (it stands at around 23k currently which is the longest anything I’ve written has ever been) and personally. I’ve put a little bit of my soul into this one. My love of quiet magic, lighthouses and seabirds, as well as my childhood, my wanderlust and my homesickness and the ache of feeling both at the same time. It’s also the first multi chapter fic I’ve ever written, and it poses new technical difficulties I’ve really been enjoying trying to overcome.

It’s so hard being a writer sometimes because you can tell yourself over and over again that you’re writing for yourself, and yet you will always crave the interaction, you will always want to share, and for people to like the thing you put your heart and soul into. It’s just hard when you can see the numbers, and the constant comparing, having the self-doubt and wondering why you even bother trying when there are people much better than you.

All you can do is keep reminding yourself that it’s your story to tell, and no one else can tell it like you. You love it, and there are others out there who will love it, too, and the numbers absolutely do not reflect your worth or your storytelling.

You’re incredible, and you’ve got to keep writing because your story is worth telling.

Chapter 9 of wreck my plans, that's my man is out!

Summary: Luke Skywalker-Naberrie is sent on a diplomatic mission to Mandalore, on behalf of the Republic. He plans on getting the work done and leaving as soon as he can after the two years is up, but that was before he meets the Mand'alor.

Excerpt under the cut:

“We’re getting married,” Luke whispers, unable to hide the joy in his voice.

A laugh escapes Din, who nods his head, saying, “Yeah, we are, we’re getting married.”

Luke pictures a smile pulling across Din’s face, with soft rosy lips being at the center of it all. Tears prick his eyes when he realizes that the moment is coming when he’ll get to look into Din’s eyes, pick out every shade that swims in those depths, trace his fingers across his cheekbones, and eyes running over every piece of the man he loves. He’ll commit it all to memory, Luke swears to it.

“I love you,” Luke says, and Din brings a hand up to the back of Luke’s head.

you're on your own, kid IS a skywalker song, all of the skywalkers, anakin, leia, luke, rey!!! all these orphans but like yeah

i feel like luke and leia would probably relate to anti-hero!! especially luke and he probably thinks about vader, but i don't think it's a vader song, I think it's an anakin song if that makes sense

lavender haze is a dinluke or an anidala song, ESPECIALLY anidala, from padme's prospective

vigilante shit is the song of the rebellion idk if that makes any sense but also it is a fennec song i can't explain it

what i love the most about The Seven from D20 is that you can just feel the love the characters have for each other and how unabashedly like... feminine?? 'i am like other girls', it feels you know? like all the maidens are different from each other but they all just care about each other. I have only seen that kind of friendship in female friendship???

Final sacrifice (Chapter 5)

Here goes the next chapter. Omera finds the Mandalorian!

Final sacrifice

General synopsis: AU universe, in which removing your helmet is punished by death if the members of the covert esteem it so. Otherwise all canon compliant until E16 “The Rescue”, where Skywalker doesn’t show up but Din fights the Dark Troopers with the Darksaber. Din and Grogu, together, they find the covert, mostly as occurs in E5 of TBOBF. This fanfic takes off from where Din accepts Paz’s duel for the DarkSaber.

Relationships: Mando x Omera

Characters: Din Djarin, Grogu, Omera, Winta. Eventually Cara, Fennec, Boba Fett

After their conversation, Omera stayed a while inside her hut. She found herself needing to sit back down at the table, a thousand feelings and thoughts running through her head. What could possibly be happening to Din? Who was this blue-armored Mandalorian and what kind of fate had they decided for him for removing his helmet? If he really did it to save his child, how could such a behavior be punished in any way? After a while she got up and headed towards the barn, with more questions than answers. She needed answers, she couldn’t lose the Mandalorian---Din, again, especially knowing that his intention was not to come back.

She rushed out of her hut aiming to catch up with the Mandalorian, decided to get some answers, when she almost ran into Grogu. He was clearly in distress, sobbing, holding something in his hand. She crouched down to take the kid in her arms, and could then see what the child was holding. It was the signet that the Mandalorian wore on his right pauldron since his arrival. Did this mean he was truly never returning to them? She looked up around her to find Winta playing out by the ponds and ran to her.

-“Winta!” She called out, slightly breathless from both the stress and running to find her daughter. “Winta, sweetheart”, she said as calmly as she could, “I need you to look after the baby for a while, could you do that for me, please?”

-“Sure mom, but what’s going on?” Winta said worriedly, seeing the look in her mother’s eyes and the crying baby in her arms. She was clearly scaring her daughter, she tried harder to regain her composure.

-“I just need to talk to the Mandalorian about something. I will be back as soon as I can. Don’t worry, just try to keep the baby busy, he’s a bit upset since he woke up from his nap.”

After making sure that they would be all right, she started walking as naturally as possible towards the edge of the forest. She crossed a couple of villagers working by the nearest ponds, and asked them if they had seen the Mandalorian. They all agreed he had just seen him and were able to point the direction he took. After thanking them, she headed on the same direction, taking this time to analyze what she knew. Where could the Mandalorian have gone? He said he had no ship anymore, could have he gone towards the inn to try and find a ride out of Sorgan? He had said he was supposed to leave with the new Mandalorian. She then remembered the ship that had passed by them when they were bathing in the creek. Could that ship belong to this other Mandalorian? Based on where they were when they saw the ship fly by, she tried to infer where the ship was flying and where it might have landed and decided to head there. It was roughly the direction the other villagers had pointed out. Once she reached the tree line, and after ensuring that nobody was looking, she started running as if her life depended on it.

While running through the forest, she kept thinking about the direction the ship had taken, double checking on the sun’s position to check that she was running in the right direction. She ran until her legs couldn’t keep up and started walking briskly, keeping the course as best as she could. After a while, which was difficult for her to say if it was minutes or hours, she heard a gun clicking behind her. She stopped dead in her tracks, not daring to make a move.

-“Raise your hands and turn around very slowly.” A deep voice modulated by a vocoder said.

Omera did as she was told, only to find herself on the wrong side of the blaster of the blue-armored Mandalorian. He was big, and wide, nothing like Din, and he was carrying a large sack on his back. While all of her senses were panicking, she knew he was one of Din’s clan members. Could he really be a threat? He might be the only one able to tell her about Din’s whereabouts.

-“You…” she said, slowly lowering her hands.

Still pointing his blaster at Omera Paz made a movement towards her, not giving her any reassurance that he was friend rather than foe. A clinging, like metal hitting metal, originated from the enormous sack the big Mandalorian was carrying on his back, and this made her shudder. Could he be carrying…

-“You are one of those krill farmers…”

-“Where’s Din?”

Paz slowly lowered his blaster and secured it in his holster.

-“I’m sorry.” With that, he turned around and headed back into the forest.

-“NO! WAIT!”

Paz stopped in his tracks, but remained with his back to her.

-“Please explain.” she begged. “I need to know.”

After a few seconds, Paz resumed walking, followed by Omera. She kept a safe distance but had no doubt that this other Mandalorian knew perfectly well she was following. Among the trees she saw a ship, its ramp lowered. She watched as the big Mandalorian boarded the ship, laid the bulky bag next to him and, after giving Omera one last look, he pressed a button on its side which closed the ramp. After a moment, the ship’s engines began to roar and the ship took off, taking with it Omera’s hopes to see Din again. The small clearing was a mess of wind and leaves swirling in all directions, and Omera had to protect her eyes with her arms. After a brief moment, the forest regained its usual calm after the ship departed. It was only then that she saw something lying on the ground in the distance. She couldn’t quite make it out from where she was standing, so she slowly approached the lump on the ground, straining her eyes trying to figure out what it was. To her horror, she realized it was a body, a human body. She ran towards it, and when she was close enough, she saw it was Din, stripped of his beskar and weapons, dressed only in his flightsuit and laying in a puddle of his own blood. A vibroknife protruded from his gut, which he held in one of his hands.

-“MANDO!” she screamed, terrified to move him. “DIN, WAKE UP!”. When there was no response, she moved the layers protecting his neck to check for a pulse. It was barely there, but he was alive. Panting, she felt the panic growing in her chest. She looked all around her, not really knowing what she was looking for, she knew she needed to act fast, but how to proceed? Several options ran through her mind, but she knew she needed to choose her next actions wisely if she was to save him. She couldn’t possibly drag an unconscious man back to the village by herself in time to save him. Could she run back to the village to get a cart and be back in time? He would probably bleed to death by the time they made it back. She needed to stabilize him where he lay. She couldn’t find any other option. If she removed the blade, he would surely start bleeding profusely, and after all the blood he had already lost, she was sure he couldn’t afford to lose any more. She needed something to dress his wound once the blade was removed. Her first idea was his cape, but it looked extremely dirty from lying on the ground. In one swift movement, she untied her apron, and pressed on the wound as tightly as she could. She took a couple of deep breaths to steady her trembling hands and reached for the blade. Din’s hand fell from the handle, and she grabbed it determinedly and pulled it out. The pain made the Mandalorian regain his senses, arching his body in agony. Omera threw the knife aside carelessly and tried to hold him down as she pressed the apron to the slash in his gut. She pressed as hard as she could to prevent additional loss of blood, preventing the writhing Mandalorian from excessively moving around. He panted and reached out with his hands as if wanting to escape from what was causing him such extreme pain.

-“MANDO, I NEED YOU TO CALM DOWN.”

The sound of her voice seemed to have a brief effect, but he then began moving again, trying to grab something that would allow him to regain control over his body. He was clearly disoriented.

-“It’s me, Omera. I need to pack your wound before I can move you to the village.” She explained.

Din’s mind began to clear, which encouraged Omera to keep talking to him without removing the pressure on his wound. “I need to stop the bleeding; you already lost too much blood as it is.”

Din’s head lolled from one side to the other, as he tried to clear the fog in his mind. “No… no, this… d ‘s not supposed to happ’n, leave…” He said groggily.

-“Stop fighting me, Din. You don’t know me if you think I’m just going to let you die like this.”

She put additional pressure to the wound, and when she was sure that the bleeding had reduced, she used the laces of the apron to tie the piece in place as tightly as she could. This made the Mandalorian scream in pain again, but this only reinforced Omera’s determination.

-“I need you to get up, Din. We need to get you back to the village.”

She could tell his mind was very foggy and he couldn’t make much sense of the words. Omera tried again to get through to him. “Simple sentences, keep wording to a minimum.” She told herself.

-“UP, DIN!” she commanded.

He slowly opened his glassy and unfocused eyes. Omera wasn’t even sure he could see anything.

-“M’ not s’posed... I accept…”

-“Well, --I-- DON’T!” Omera cried wrapping his arm around her neck. “On three: one, two… THREE!”

At that moment, Din felt Omera pulling him up. The excruciating pain of being moved to a vertical position made him scream, the sound making Omera’s blood freeze. Once upright, she gave him a moment for his blood to return to the Mandalorian’s foggy head. She started moving and to her relief, he sluggishly followed Omera’s guiding steps. He barely had control of his legs, and continued tripping over debris on the ground, even tripping over his own feet, but they slowly started to make their way towards the village.

@obiwanobi hi!! I saw your tags and wanted to type you out a response! It was gonna be short LOL.

So - why I dislike the Mandalorian culture (and thus shows and arcs focusing on them/Mando characters). I dislike them for the exact reasons you've pointed out in your tags!

Note: this isn't hate! i'm really happy people like what they like and I think it's awesome! Mandalorians just are not my personal favs.

1) I find all of their endless wars and fighting and little bad-blood clan fights very boring and borish. I don't like any media that has that as the backbone - it's dull and unfulfilling to me. Game of Thrones, Viking shows, Medieval shit... no. It's the competitiveness that I find very distasteful and dull. Vying for territory and honor stuff? Puts me to sleep. I think find the characters to be like... simple and unlikeable. It's why I greatly prefer stories about the Jedi, the monks like Chirrut, characters like Kanan, or conflicted characters like Anakin who struggle to do good but have a heavy conscience (despite evil deeds). When Vader does smth bad you know Anakin is inside paying for it - that's part of why it's so gleeful to watch him do bad stuff. He never really gets away with it. The Mandalorians on the other hand glorify violence and death and I think it's ugly and frankly I hate watching it. Not my cup of tea.

2) I find weapons repulsive and agree with Obi-wan "how uncivilized". The Jedi saber & how long it takes to properly master is much more my area. Or say, Han who uses a blaster as a failsafe. The Mandos: A culture that glamorizes, or worse, diefies weapons ("Weapons are my religion") I truly find disgusting. It reminds me very much of modern-day conservative USA and I am not at all surprised the show is...very popular for this reason. Again? Not my cup of tea.

3) I LOVE SATINE KRYZE! I think she was the only decent Mandalorian, a true hero, one of the coolest & bravest characters in Star Wars, and the perfect never-would-have-worked-between-us for Obi-wan! Can you see Obi-wan, man of righteous morals and service living alongside warsome Mandalorians, even if he abandoned his life's calling for Satine? HELL no. He loved Satine because she had a voice and literally unheard of bravery in the face of her culture's toxic traits. Obi-wan would've keeled over from boredom and his eyes would've rolled so far back in his head he would've lost them every time Whoever The Fuck from Clan Scalpthem threw another brick through their window or challenged someone to the zillionth duel that week (can't he just read a chapter in his book???) He and Satine were FAR TOO alike and made a great We Respect Each Other Too Much To Do This dynamic while staying true to themselves so hard they had to genuinely walk away & and prioritize themselves. Damn. That's cool.

4) I feel the IRL obsession/phenomenon with the Mandalorian comes down to two things imo - ppl who like Baby Yoda/Dad Mando (valid), and otherwise its fans who are weapons-obsessed toxic dudebros who stomp and cry about everything else and then piss themselves with joy whenever ppl are getting mindlessly gutted on screen. It's why I feel Mando is so popular and other media such as TBOBF (he's a good man, sworn off senseless violence), OWK (introspective show based on emotional and psychological connection btw Obi and Ani), TLJ & Rey in general (a woman with feelings & power) gets shit on by dudebro Star Wars fans and they salivate over Mando.

Don't get me wrong! I think Din is a good character! I like watching him & the show! I find his religious arc that competes with something he discovers is just as important to him (Grogu) very compelling and sweet honestly! I enjoy his timidness and chivalry compared to the other Mandos who are not at all as noble as he is. I enjoy the tragedy of obviously him eventually dying for Grogu/Grogu outliving him by hundreds of years - it's great! But Mandalorians in general? No.

Do I think the show is the best written or filmed? No. I don't like Mandalore or their culture. I find them extremely unlikeable, and I don't like the really transparent worship of the show by the cismen gatekeeping fans whose senselessly and grossly loudly complain about literally everything else for NO reason.

Like sure - you don't have to like stuff! But stop screaming over everyone else, and stop ruining things for others.

I see sooo many SW articles about non-Mando shows like "this show is pointless" "this arc is pointless" "exploring this period is pointless" "why can't this be more like the Mandalorian" "this isn't good" like..... ok.... TO YOU?? but there are a TON of other people who are actual FANS of Star Wars and want to see their favs from the movies do ANYTHING.

That IS the point of the other shows.

So yeah, lol, my mix of reasons for finding Mandalorians and their culture extremely annoying. Legit though: No hate if you like them! It's all cool. Everyone likes diff stuff for diff reasons and I completely respect that.

This season is so thematically incoherent and im astonished by the lack of direction. Is it fun to watch Din and Grogu having pockets of cute moments? Yes. But theres no driving force every season had a clear driving force established. Season 1 was keeping Grogu out of the hands of the Imperials and bonding from it, season 2 was finding the Jedi and the mystery of introducing Boba Fetts armour and it connected together seamlessly.

This season felt like episode 1 established it well. Episode 2 was mostly great save for certain elements that are becoming a bigger problem now. Episode 3 was a mixed bag of varying opinions but we mostly can agree Dins parts were emotionally unsatisfying.

And episode 4 is just....who is the protagonist? What is the driving force? Who is the antagonist? By episode 4 of season 1 Din had turned Grogu in, rescued him gone on the run and was trying to find places and people he could trust. It feels like episode 1 didn't even happen because literally nothing in it has paid off or even brought up again.

Din feels like a side character and I can't help but wonder if its beacuse they are trying to establish grounds for Bo Katans show. Beacuse she feels completely distracting from Din, and it makes no sense

Boba Fett was perfectly included in season 2 and you believed this interesting bond of two outcasts finding companionship and trust for a common goal. And it didn't feel distracting Boba Fett was still a side character not a co main character.

I just...I do not understand this seasons direction at all every episode feels disconnected and there is literally no hint at what the seasona story arc even is 4 episodes in.

I understand where you're coming from and I'm sorry this season is making you feel this way. I totally get what you're saying, specially cause I re-watched the first 5 episodes of Season 2 over the weekend and it felt more chronological in a way, like you could see every episode was a stepping stone to the next.

What I think is the problem with this season is that they started with the premise of Din's redemption but now that's done and we don't have a clue of what's next (something i think it's the season's intention) and obviously Din doesn't know what's next either. But we don't have a villain yet, we don't have that high stakes thing that we're working towards whether it's Gideon wanting Grogu again or him going after other mandalorians and that's why these last episodes feels like a filler but I believe with the next ones it'll all fall into place.

They could have given us the villain after Din's redemption, like a clear villain, not a hint like Pershing's lil side story from last week, that way we know something's coming. That's just my way of seeing all this, and my hopefulness talking ahahah the actors hyped up this season a lot, so we could be having a calm-before-the-storm kind of moment in this episode before they tie all the loose ends. I do agree about the Bo-Katan thing tho, and I think this is how people felt with TBOBF, cause she's taken a bit of a protagonist role and good for her but not for me because ultimately it's Din and Grogu's show and I was hoping more of an emphasis on them both (especially Din in his self-discovery journey) this season. But we'll see with the next chapters!
