"I know you loved your life and I loved your life too. And knowing how much you loved yours, I must love mine the more. I will always be thinking of you and hoping that you are having ice cream in heaven. I know you are an angel there and someday I will be with you.
The clouds will be pink like the walls of your room and we will be laughing together and looking forward, and back, and not missing each other anymore.
Love forever, Your friend, Lindsey"
- An excerpt from a letter written by Lindsey, a friend of JonBenet, on the 6th anniversary of her death.

The Murder of Sylvia Likens
Introduction
Sylvia Likens was born in early January 1949 in Indiana, USA. She had four siblings and was described as a happy, nice, and confident girl. She often stayed with relatives since her parents had to travel due to work, and it was decided that she would stay with a woman named Gertrude Baniszewski in June 1965. Sylvia's parents were acquainted with Gertrude, and believed she would take good care of Sylvia; however, Gertrude would come to torture Sylvia to death. This is the story of the torture and murder of Sylvia Likens.
The torture and murder
Gertrude Baniszewski was born in 1928 and had seven children; Paula, Stephanie, John, Marie, Shirley, James, and Dennis. Gertrude and her family resided in Indianapolis when Sylvia and her younger sister Jenny came to live with them. It was decided that Gertrude would be paid every week for taking care of Sylvia and Jenny, but she sometimes received her payments a couple of days late. This resulted in Gertrude taking out her anger on Sylvia and Jenny by beating them with a paddle. However, Gertrude soon decided to focus her abuse on Sylvia; she seldom gave Sylvia food and often beat her. It did not take long until Gertrude's children started participating in the abuse of Sylvia. Paula, who was seventeen years old at the time, was the first of Gertrude's children to participate in beating Sylvia. Other children in the neighborhood also started to get involved in the abuse, and it progressed from beatings to even more severe types of torture. Sylvia was forcefed condiments and spices, and when she threw up, she was forced to eat her vomit. Paula once hit Sylvia so hard that she broke her own wrist, and Stephanie soon began participating in the abuse. Stephanie's boyfriend, Coy Hubbard, also began abusing Sylvia. Gertrude also humiliated Sylvia, calling her a prostitute, and accusing her of being promiscuous. Sylvia was also forced to masturbate with a bottle in front of Gertrude and a group of teens from the neighborhood. The abuse escalated further; Sylvia was burned with cigarettes, kicked in the genitals, banged against the wall, and choked.
The torture resulted in Sylvia becoming incontinent, and the family decided to tie her up naked in the basement. Sylvia was almost never fed and often wet herself. She was, on several occasions, placed in a scalding hot bath and neighborhood kids then rubbed salt in her wounds. Gertrude also rubbed urine and feces from her youngest son on Sylvia's face. The torture escalated further when Gertrude carved the words ''I'm a prostitute and proud of it'' on Sylvia's stomach. In late October 1965, Sylvia had become unable to talk or properly coordinate her body. However, the torture did not stop. She was sprayed with a garden hose, beaten, and stomped on. Sylvia died on October 26, 1965. She was just 16 years old.
Gertrude called the police when she realized that Sylvia was no longer breathing, but told them that she had tried to save her. She also stated that Sylvia had run away from home and sustained her injuries elsewhere. However, Jenny told the truth as soon as she was taken to the police station.
The autopsy was shocking, to say the least; at the time of her death, Sylvia was extremely malnourished and she had over 150 wounds across her body. She also had extreme injuries to her genitals and layers of skin on her face, neck, and decolletage had been peeled back.
Trial and aftermath
Gertrude, Paula, John, Coy, and a neighborhood teen named Richard Hobbs stood trial in 1966. Gertrude was found guilty of first-degree murder, Paula was found guilty of second-degree murder, and the boys were found guilty of manslaughter. Gertrude and Paula received life in prison, and the boys were sentenced to spend between 2-21 years behind bars. There was a retrial in 1970, but Paula decided to plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to spend between 2-20 years in prison. Gertrude decided to go through with the retrial but was once again found guilty of first-degree murder.
Paula was released from prison in 1972, and Gertrude was granted parole in late 1985. Gertrude died of cancer in 1990. Paula worked as a school counselor for many years but was fired when her dark past came to light. Stephanie, who was never charged with any crime, has since started a family of her own and worked as a teacher. Richard, Coy, and John were released after spending two years behind bars. Richard died of cancer in 1972, Coy died in 2007 of a heart attack. John died at the age of 52 of diabetes in 2005.
Jenny later married and had children, but had to take medication to handle her extreme trauma and anxiety. She died of a heart attack in 2004.

Mr Stroud, this is a kids’ book, are we really going to explore the concept that man’s desire to be free himself from death by his own power is at the root of all evil? Oh we are? Cool, cool, just checking

I have an idea I will need to ruminate on later to flesh it out more, but it goes something like this:
Shang Qinghua is God of the World, in the sense that he was a god who got a premonition of a Calamity that would destroy the entire world. So to prevent that all the gods pool their power to separate the world into one where all the mythology and stuff is real and a copy that's basically a low-magic/no-magic version that will be safe from said Calamity. They make the System to keep the two separated-but-connected and to help Shang Qinghua remake the original world when the time is right. Shang Qinghua, as the god who foresaw the looming disaster and was pivotal in averting it got tasked with taking the remaining divine power and going to the other world to hide from the Calamity and write the world back into existence once it's all over.
Except something goes wrong. One world is destroyed as anticipated, but Shang Qinghua has lost his godly powers and his memories when he got placed into the no-magic world. He's just our poor author friend Airplane bro.
The System is so relieved when the creator finally starts to write that it immediately implements it all without screening - System has been programmed to be very efficient! It can extrapolate from the smallest crumbs to recreate the world and its history in full! When Shang Qinghua has written enough that the world is back to its fully functioning glory the System is meant to bring the author-creator back to survey the world, but it does an oopsie and hey, transmigration! The restrictions on having to follow the plot are there so Airplane can experience the the life of a human in this recreated world as he had written it, so that corrections can be made before the new world is finalized. The 'Return Home' function isn't meant to take Shang Qinghua back to the other world, it's meant to turn him back into a proper God of the World(s) so he can make revisions, with full admin access. That's why it can't be dismissed permanently, it will happen eventually when Shang Qinghua reaches the end of his life or ascends.
The PIDW world also exists, as a backup copy in a way? So god Qinghua can always look at it and check what the effects of his revisions are. It's real enough that Bingge gets to hop over to the SVSSS world for his appearance in the extras.
Shen Qingqiu gets the System's attention because during his qi deviation he briefly makes contact with his incarnation in the other world and gets a full set of copies of Shen Yuan's memories. Someone who has read the Divine Work and can help keep Airplane on track with the plot and in character, because System is getting really agitated that its god is trying really hard to get out of what the System perceives as a short roleplay session. So it locks Shen Jiu's memories away for the time being and let's 'Shen Yuan' lose on the world.
A lock that gets eventually removed shortly after canon SVSSS ends. And the Shen Jiu personality and all his memories take priority because they are the ones that originally belong to this incarnation.
It's a big old mess, waking up and realizing that he lived the last couple of years as if he was a spoiled young master, shoved against his will into someone else's life. The memories from Shen Yuan's life in the other world are faded - still there, but they don't have as much of an effect on him anymore - but the things he felt and experienced since his qi deviations are all very vivid and very disorienting.
He needs time, to make sense of himself. He needs to think and he needs to be away from Binghe for a while, because the jealous disdain he felt for the child who had all the inherent gifts needed for success but still acted the helpless sheep and the love 'Shen Yuan' felt for adult Binghe are both there, equally vivid.
When he comes out of secluded meditation he's... different. Not cruel Shen Jiu, not kind Shen Yuan, but something in between. Much closer to the former, to the initial displeasure of most everyone who's not Yue Qingyuan, but there are aspects of the person he became in the last few years that he refuses to let go.
The eventual talk with Luo Binghe is beyond uncomfortable. It's not easy to admit to someone so much more powerful than him that he's more of the person Binghe hated rather than the person he loved. He's not the kind shizun, he refuses to pretend to be. If Luo Binghe wants to leave, there could be a way for him to go to Shen Yuan, who is the closest thing, but Binghe should keep in mind: that's not the person who has fallen in love with him. He likely would, if given a chance to meet Binghe, but they don't have history together.
He tells him that despite everything, the person Shen Qingqiu is now still loves Luo Binghe - loves him differently so things will need to change, but this is all he can offer. If Luo Binghe is willing to give it a try and see if he can love this sharper, more cruel Shen Qingqiu back, then Shen Qingqiu will not push him away.

Ok fine, no Nightfall depth
But we did get a good deal of Twilight introspection, Yor was honest with him about her real concerns AND kicked Yuri out on his behalf, as well as some more twiyor crumbs reflecting how their relationship is growing
So yeah the chapter and overall arc is a complete win imo

During the fall of 1996, JonBenet attended High Peaks Elementary as a Kindergartener, or “real school” as she liked to call it. She took to school life like a bird to air and excelled in her subjects, advancing to 1st grade level math by December. A pal to all, she quickly befriended her classmates and became the go-to person to escort students down to the nurse’s office when they were not feeling well.
In her first semester report card, JonBenet’s teachers described her as a bright and compassionate child. Her art teacher wrote, “She draws happy, sunny pictures. She is talented and a care-giver to other students.”
Her music teacher noted, “JonBenet loves to dance and sing. She always makes sure that each student has his/her turn.”

The Murder of Albin Einarsen
The murder
Albin Einarsen, 16 years old, was found dead in a forest in Halmstad, Sweden in May 2014. What had happened to Albin would remain a mystery for three years; the only thing the police knew for certain was that Albin had been strangled to death.
Three years after Albin died, the police received information from a young woman that finally solved the case. The woman informed the police that her friend had told her that her older brother Rasmus Järviö had killed Albin. Interestingly, Albin and Rasmus were best friends. Rasmus was soon arrested and admitted to the murder. But why did he kill his best friend?
According to Rasmus, Albin raped his ex-girlfriend in 2013. Albin's ex-girlfriend then became romantically involved with Rasmus and told Rasmus about the sexual assault. Albin had also tried to force Rasmus' younger sister to send naked pictures of herself by threatening to post naked pictures of her that he already had online. In May 2014, Rasmus decided to confront Albin about the pictures he supposedly had of his younger sister. They walked into a forest, and Rasmus asked if Albin had deleted the pictures. Albin said that he had not had the time to delete the pictures, which made Rasmus extremely angry. Rasmus strangled Albin to death and then left him in the forest.
What makes this case even more interesting is that Rasmus told two people about what he had done; he told his younger sister and his girlfriend, who was Albin's ex-girlfriend. The sister and girlfriend urged Rasmus to go to the police, but he was too scared. Instead, the three of them kept their secret for three years until Rasmus' younger sister finally broke down and told a friend about what had happened.
Trial and aftermath
Rasmus Järviö was found guilty of the murder of Albin Einarsen and was sentenced to four years in prison. During the trial, it was revealed that Rasmus had felt extremely bad about what he had done and had tried to kill himself several times.
