making Hamlet fanart in 2024, slapping Juicy (main hero of Fat Ham, a modern play, Hamlet version, played by black fat queer person) on char design i saw in old b&w film while listening MCR playlist was an experience

Scott slipped out of the ballroom and nudged his comm. “EOS?”

“Hello Scott, how may I be of assistance?”

“There is a man here named Francis Kerlin, Caucasian, early to mid 40s, British accent… I’d be interested to know his history.”

“Certainly, Scott one moment.”

He paced up and down the corridor.

“One more moment, there is some moderately competent encryption on this file.”

“No problem.” It wasn’t a problem. Hopefully. There was probably nothing untoward… except that his friend looked as though she’d seen a ghost and that ghost hadn’t been Casper. His skin crawled with anxiety.

“I may need some more time with this last file, Scott, would you like the rest in the meantime?”

“Yes please.”

…

…

Scott breathed out heavily through his nostrils and fought back the urge to punch something. Virgil wasn’t here to hold him back this time and so he was going to have to find that restraint from within. “Thank you, EOS. I really appreciate your help.”

“Anything for you, Scott.”

Something about that phrase waved a tiny flag in his brain but he turned his back on it. The majority of his blood seemed to have rushed to take up residence behind his eyes and he pinched the bridge of his nose to try to relieve the tension.

“EOS, would you do me a favour and monitor my heart rate? If it spikes play me something… Virgil-ish through the earpiece?”

“Virgil 3 playlist, Scott? You found that one soothing when you…”

“Yes that would be perfect, thanks.”

Scott put both hands in his pockets and dug his fingernails into his palms as he walked calmly back into the ballroom, trying to keep the thoughts of murder from showing on his face.
