Star Wars Rebels: Crawler Commandeers (4x08)

Summary: The family has a side adventure on a machine that’s burning all the grass. 

Comments: After hiding out in a cave, the Lothal crew intercept a nearby transmission to discover a crawler that’s busy burning Lothal’s grass. 

Sabine destroys the droid guards, the team secures the bridge and there’s a weird lizard captain that won’t stop talking so Ezra locks him in the closet. Kanan and Zeb free some slaves, including Vizago, and then fight with the Foreman, who has one of those slave space!whips from TCW. Kanan’s overpowered, and then Zeb fist fights with the Foreman over the music from Raiders. 

To continue the references, there’s also a scene were the Foreman falls into the mist, whip cracking behind him like a f—ing balrog. 

Anyways, the Empire shows up, Vizago tricks them into going away and the Captain escapes into the ventilation shafts.

Kanan states the problem: “We’ve got to find him, fast!” 

Zeb raises the stakes: “He’s in the ventilation shafts. He could be anywhere in there.”

Sabine chimes in: “Someone should follow him through the ventilation shafts!”

*everyone looks at Ezra*

Ezra then crawls through the ventilation shaft complaining it’s not what he does anymore. He fights with the captain who slips on Ezra’s lightsaber and falls into the reactor… core (?) and dies while Ezra says some lame action-movie cliche.

In conclusion, Hera got support for an assault on Lothal in the B-plot, so that’s probably happening.

something i feel we don’t talk about much is how low-key cold blooded the clonetoopers are—normally they only fight droids so I feel it’s not noticeable, but there are multiple instances in the umbara arc that purposely shows the clones killing umbarans point-blank without any qualms, like the scene where rex casually shoots a dying umbaran. and it really makes you go. hm.
