This year (2022), there will be fan-run TDWP fanwork awards to show our appreciation for all the fan creations, from fanfic over art to video and more!
What is a fanwork award?
There are different ways awards can be run, but basically everyone can nominate works in different categories for example for fic and art, and later vote for their favourites!
How will the award be organized?
Works will be nominated over google docs, with the option to send in messages here or on discord if that doesn't work for someone for whatever reason, and the voting will take place on the discord server to prevent tampering by people voting multiple times and to make it easier for mods to oversee.
The works in first, second and third places will be added to an Ao3 winner's collection (if the creators allow it), or reblogged here with a winner's banner depending on where they have been posted.
For more information, join the That's Mirandy 18+ discord server or follow this blog!
Update: nominations have started!
Update: voting has started on the server!
Update: the winners of the first categories have been announced and can be found on tumblr and the Ao3 collection!
Writers, video editors and other creators, if any tumblr posts about the winning works have not yet been reblogged by us, feel free to @ us on the post, or send the links on discord or Ao3!

Mirandy Apocalypse Fic- Chapter 1
────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──────
Hi everyone! Ive decided to make the first part of this released fic into a prologue and this will be the first official chapter. Hopefully I’ll be able to upload to AO3 soon. Enjoy! :)
read prologue here- https://www.tumblr.com/mirandapriestlyswife/747204446805704704/mirandy-fanfic-apocalypse-au-prologue
────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──────
Miranda fucking Priestly. The bitch lives. Well.. Kind of.. She didn’t look older per-say… More broken maybe. Her eyes looked hollow. As if they’d witnessed the worst that was to come. Her gorgeous white hair somehow remained almost perfectly styled. Did this woman have some kind of hair department she was keeping in a bunker to avoid infection??? Andy had just assumed that alike every other rich asshole, Miranda had purchased some underground bunker upstate. Yet here she stands. Staring directly into her soul.
“Andrea..?” Mirandas voice sent shivers down her spine. Andy gaped in disbelief that this woman was somehow still alive. Young, relatively healthy Lily had passed in a matter of hours. Yet 54 year old Miranda Priestly stood in front of her looking as healthy as ever. She noticed how Miranda was eyeing her up and down, probably trying to determine if she was a hallucination or not. Andy swallowed but it seemed her mouth had gone dry, “Miranda..? I-.. You’re alive.” It wasn’t exactly a question, more of an observation. Was she happy to see Miranda alive? Absolutely! If this was quite literally any other person alive Andy would’ve ran straight at them and given them the biggest bear hug she could muster. But this was no ordinary person, no, this was Miranda fucking Priestly.
Miranda pursed her lips slightly which made Andy wince. She should’ve been kinder with her greeting.. The older woman cleared her throat “I am? I hardly noticed.” She said with disinterest. How could anyone be disinterested to find out they are in fact not the last person on Earth?! Unless Miranda was actually still making every single Runway employee come in to work everyday. ‘Yes im aware there’s a global pandemic but is that really an excuse for our swimwear shoot to look so lackluster?’ Andy could practically imagine her saying. She attempted to swallow but was once again met with cottonmouth, “I- I- are you- are you real..?” She practically choked on her own words.
“Am I real?” Miranda scoffed. “Of course Im real. If anyone here is a hallucination its you.” Andy was almost offended by this woman’s lack of shock. Did Miranda really think so little of her? That she wasn’t even worthy of a proper acknowledgement of ‘Hey! It’s great to see Im not the only person here! It’s been months since I’ve had someone to talk to!’. She took a deep breath and then she felt the hot tears streaming down her cheeks. This was all too much. The death, the loneliness, but now she had someone, someone to make her less lonely, but of course that had to have been the one person that wanted nothing to do with her. She wailed. Having no shame of fully breaking down in front of her former boss.
Mirandas eyes displayed… Sympathy.. almost. She stared at the crying woman.. Before eventually walking closer to Andy. Close enough to touch, close enough to hug. But.. Hugging would be too much. For the both of them. Or at least that’s what Miranda had decided. Instead, she placed a firm hand on Andys shoulder. “…Im glad to see you.” The way Miranda says it so slowly, so firmly, it puts Andy at ease. She doesn’t stop crying, but the wailing ceases. She took a deep breath and rushed to Miranda, throwing her arms around the shorter woman. In any other circumstances, she wouldn’t have dared touch Miranda. But this was quite literally the end of the world.
Andy sobbed into Mirandas shoulder. Oh how wonderful it felt to hug someone. Someone that was alive. Someone that she knew. She knew once they’d both gotten over the shock of seeing someone breathing that Miranda would probably kill her for getting tear stains on whatever designer blazer she was sporting midst of the fucking apocalypse. Leave it to Miranda Priestly to still be fashionable as ever even when there’s quite literally no one else to see.
Eventually she felt Miranda put her arms around her already trembling body, causing more sobs to erupt from Andys mouth. She pulled away quickly and wiped her tears with shaking hands, only to put her hands back on Mirandas shoulders, for some assurance that she was in fact real.
“How are you- how are you alive? I- im so..” Confused? Happy? On the verge of a panic attack?? Miranda took a deep breath and with surprising gentleness, removed Andys hands from her shoulders. “I would like to ask you the same thing.” Even with her gentle touch, the older woman’s voice still contained some bite. Perhaps she was still upset over Paris? Couldn’t she put aside their petty differences and look at the real problem at hand? They were possibly the last two people left on Earth. “Are there.. any other survivors with you..?”
Miranda went dead silent. Andy wasn’t even sure if she could hear her breathing. She looked absolutely broken, she then scoffed, as if to hide her moment of vulnerability. “‘Survivors’ you say that as if we’re in some sort of fictitious zombie apocalypse.” She let out a deep sigh as the sorrow to her voice returned, “No.. There’s no survivors with me.”
Andy felt a pit in the bottom of her stomach. That must mean- oh God.. “Oh Miranda.. I’m so sorry..” That must mean the twins had passed. Miranda looked teary eyed, she gave Andy a curt nod and looked away, of fear of crying. “Yes well.. I’m sorry as well.” She sniffled and Andy practically saw Mirandas heart break. She sighed and gazed at Miranda sympathetically, she opened her mouth to say something when she was interrupted. “What are you doing at Elias-Clarke?” Andy was almost offended by the question, it was asked so accusatorially. What was she doing at Elia-Clarke? What are you doing at Elias-Clare?! “..Just looking for some familiarity. Something nostalgic to fill the day, you know.” Miranda looked at her from head to toe, just as she had her first day on the job. It made her feel small, even it was done out of habit. “‘Familiarity’? You haven’t worked here for 2 years.”
“3 years.” Andy corrected. It’s been 3 years since I- um.. since.. Paris.”
Miranda raised an eyebrow, “Well I have much more important matters at hand then remembering when my second assistant abruptly resigned in disgrace.” Andy cracked a small smile, “From what I remember you gave me a pretty damn good letter of recommendation.. I mean good coming from you.”
Miranda gave her an unamused look. “I called you my greatest disappointment, what about that to you screams ‘pretty damn good’?” Andys smile widened, oh how she missed this. Having a conversation is something she really took for granted. “Actually you said ‘biggest disappointment’.. And you also said that anyone would be a fool not to hire me..”
The other woman smiled almost fondly at the thought. Maybe she missed conversations too? She never pictured Miranda as an extrovert in her free time, but surely everyone craves some type of human interaction from time to time. “Yes, yes, do remind me of my generosity after you left me stranded at a show with no assistant.” Ohhh the bite was back. “Mira-“ She started, but was abruptly cut off when she heard the sound of a microwave going “ting”.
Andy froze. “…You have… You have power?!” She’d been living on expired chips and cans of beans for months!! And this woman was having fucking microwaved dinners?! A luxury in retrospect.
“Of course I have power?” Andy was in utter shock. How?? How did this woman have power?! “But- the power companies.. I-I- mean I’ve been living in the dark for months! Besides battery powered stuff and-“
“..Stuff..?” Miranda raised an eyebrow. “Well I have no idea why you would do something as barbaric as that.. Half the buildings in this city have some sort of generator.. Elias-Clarke’s has been running strong for a few weeks by now.”
“A few weeks?!” Andy scoffed
“Yes Andrea, thats what I said isn’t it?”
“Do you even know how long generators last?! It’s less than 3,000 hours! I mean-“
“Did I say it was running constantly?” Miranda scoffed and turned on her heels, walking towards the microwave that was positioned behind Emilys old desk. Since when did Runway even own a microwave? And since when did Miranda Priestly eat anything that even so much as touched a microwave? Andy watched in wonder.
“I turn the damned thing on for less than 30 minutes a day. I figure when it eventually stops working ill simply.. Move to another place of residence.” The way Miranda spoke with such ease, as if this all came naturally to her was a bit unsettling.
“‘Another place of residence’? You live here? Why would yo-“
“Honestly Andrea, do you think I would want to live in the house where my daughters died?”
Andy froze. The way those words flew out of Mirandas mouth with such hostility.. Underneath the that frigid mask, Miranda was in fact a grieving mother. It made Andy’s heart ache. She no longer felt as if she was staring at the untouchable queen of fashion anymore, but a human being. She watched Miranda pull out the steaming microwaved dinner, God it smelt delicious. She hadn’t had a hot meal since the power was cut in New York.
You know how in zombie apocalypse movies they usually have an estimate that all of New York City would be infected in around 24-48 hours? Well they weren’t too far off in all honesty. Once the infection had reached its peak, it was swift to take the lives of pretty much anyone that hadn’t caught it already. God knows Andys run into her fair share of corpses. Thats part of the reason she tried to not move around a lot, fear of running into the corpse of someone she knew.
“You relocate a lot?”
Miranda rolled her eyes as she peeled back the plastic of her microwaved meal. “I’ve moved around from time to time. I prefer to sleep in my office.”
“Really?”
“No, im clearly lying to entertain you.”
Andy cracked a smile, which Miranda caught and stiffened, almost as if she were flustered. The older woman cleared her throat as she focused her attention back on her microwaved meal, moving it onto some of the fine china she always kept in her office. Though this set looked newer than the one she used when Andy worked there.
“Well, I stay in my friend Lily’s old apartment.. Its about.. An hours walk from here? Not sure-“ She laughed awkwardly, “Ive kinda stopped keeping track of time..”
Miranda hummed.
“Lily? Is that a relative of some sort or-“
“My best friend.” Andy interrupted. Miranda looked shocked at the fact that Andy had the balls to interrupt her, which made her smile a bit brighter. Miranda shook it off and picked up her plate of hot microwaved mush, briskly walking to her main office.
Andy froze up for a moment, did this woman seriously walk away mid conversation?? I mean sure, she hadn’t talked to another person in months, but she still knew her manners! Her smile faltered and she followed Miranda, who was now sat at her desk, poking at the hot still partially frozen “steak” on her plate.
Miranda looked up, unsurprised that Andy was still there. Probably looking as disgusting as ever in her unwashed jeans and sweater that was over 5 years old.. Yet Miranda gazed at her fondly. Not in the way someone would gaze at a long lost friend or even a former coworker. No, she gazed at Andy as if she were some souvenir from some vacation from a better time. As if she were some cherished snow globe.
“Well..” Miranda began as she cut into her unappetizing meal. “If you’re truly an hour or so away from home, I recommend you be on your way.”
What?? Was Miranda seriously kicking her out?! I mean.. She didn’t expect she’d ask her to stay the night.. But downright kicking her out?! Andy let her frustration simmer in the back of her mind. Can’t allow herself to get in a fight with quite possibly the last person in all of New York left alive.
“…Right.” Andy sighed and straightened herself upright. “Well I’ll be on my way.” She turned to leave, making it as far as her old desk before Miranda called out.
“Oh, and Andrea?”
She stopped and turned around. Miranda cleared her throat. “Be back here tomorrow at 7 AM. Thats all.” She then turned around in her creaky office chair to gaze out at the empty city.
Andy was absolutely livid. Now she had a damn schedule to follow?! She took a deep breath.
“Yes, Miranda.” She said through gritted teeth, in which Miranda only made a small noise of approval at, which to Andys annoyance made her heart flutter.
She grumbled to herself her whole walk down what felt like a thousand flights of stairs. What a shitty situation. It’s the end of the goddamn world and the only company she has is a woman that shes sure hates her guts. But at least for the first time in months she had something to look forward to.. Which made Andy smile.

Okay but I think I realized why The Devil Wears Prada is a) such an enduring film and b) so beloved by queer people. One, it is a smart, glamorous movie, and the styles showcased are timeless, not simply reflections of trends from the mid-2000s. Two, the acting is superb, all either well known actors or newcomers who became well-known after the fact, and for good reason. Three, it is set in the world of fashion, and has many things to say about fashion as both critique (the body dysmorphia endemic within it, the "pointless" nature of it) and as praise (Nigel's line "what they created was better than art, because you live your life in it" sticks with you after watching); the field of fashion, as depicted in the film, is both full of creative and artistic work AND it tends to draw wealthy, wasteful people to it. It has its angels and its devils.
Four, irrespective of the acting, the writing, the fashion, the glamour, The Devil Wears Prada is about two women at the heart of it, and their dynamic around each other. They begin with disdain for one another, but grow to respect each other immensely. The men in their romantic lives are cruel and disappointing, and do not support them. They're both fighting to be successful career women, and they resent anyone getting in their way. They mirror one another, even as they are also complete opposites. The naive newcomer versus the experienced veteran. The wealthy boss versus the powerless assistant. The style icon versus the fashion-clueless. The ruthless cutthroat versus the kind to a fault.
Miranda, for all she is the devil that Andy must deal with, pushes Andy to be better, to do more, to push herself, to learn how to look and be invested in her new career. Andy, for her part, doesn't so much as change her boss as she does soften her...a little bit. Not much, but Miranda grows to appreciate Andy, even singing her praises after Andy abandons her in Paris. She even appreciated her sense of style, going out of her way to take notice as Andy becomes more stylish bit by bit.
Is there any wonder people ship the two? Is there any wonder why queer audiences love the movie? Without meaning to, a comedy about an exacting boss that came out in 2006 develops a relationship between two women absolutely flawlessly. The dynamic isn't necessarily romantic (though the bits where Miranda checks Andy out are certainly there), but the two characters focus on each other through the whole movie.
The book certainly doesn't do this. The book is more a revenge fantasy of telling your exacting boss to fuck off. The film has bits of that, but it's not about that. It's about women learning from other women, either as a push in the right direction or, as the case may be, learning how not to make the same mistakes in chasing success.
Is it any wonder why after fifteen years we're still in love with this movie? I think not.

My new Ao3 & Discord icons!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I first added the new symbols over the fandoms I'm not rly in anymore just where they used to be in the bottom versions, then rearranged the symbols to the top ones because different spots are hidden on Ao3 and discord - corners in the round discord icon, and the right middle on Ao3 - and I wanted my current main fandoms to show in every version :)

I've made so many wonderful connections through the Mirandy fandom. Of all the fandoms I'm a part of this is easily the one that I enjoy the most, the one I feel most at home in and cared for. We're just so chill with our 13 year old standalone film, and the book that no one wants to talk about.
No drama. No hate. Just support, and a mutual understanding that we all want Miranda Priestly to raw us into the next century

Seeing things like this is honestly scary. The way that it suggests that these people really, truly believe in the false appearances that people make on instagram, as well as the half-truth of it — because not only does not everyone make theirs public, but not everyone even uses it! (The criticisms made of it are for real reasons: there are serious problems that it, FB, and similar sites pose.)
They’re taking so literally and at face value something that is done so, so much for appearances. Something often done as professional networking, company branding + official front facing site and contact page.
Did they understand the content of the film at all? Or did it go right over their heads? The fashion world; the way that there is a public face and a private face; the way that your life path and career will change you with time, or your relationships and life in general will bring different facets of you out, some of which you never imagined that you could have?
Or even just the bare bones of professionalism and a cold façade vs. sincerity and earnesty? Part of the entire message?
WTF.
(Also, the idea that these two characters, if they were real, would have a writing style in a public forum that looked like that… “hehe we said fuck it and got married :D”. That’s not the kind of appearance they’d want to make. Just wtf all around.)

Wait, BLAIR decorated the CB townhouse????? That’s so… 😔 Okay also, idk if this is common fandom knowledge already but, did you know that that townhouse is actually the same one that Miranda Priestly lived in in The Devil Wears Prada? Which, I’m sure it was just chosen as a fun shout out, but going back to the W arc… Miranda was basically the most famous fictional equivalent of the real “powerful woman” Blair was trying to emulate, before she got fired and apparently just gave up on fashion journalism altogether and decided being a princess and then taking over her mother’s company would be easier. Maybe it’s just because I made the association with Blair’s career potential and TDWP when I was first watching season 4 but, there is something very melancholic to me about Blair deciding to make a home in the house of the fictional character who basically represents the sort of life she could of but ultimately didn’t have. She wanted so badly to be the next Anna Wintour/Miranda Priestly, but instead she just became another nepotism baby whose life work is fulfilling her mother’s dreams instead of her own. But hey, at least she’s got the townhouse so she can pretend, right?
Tumblr media
Wow you really came for her!!!
Yeah, I mean there’s definitely a line in that flashforward that Blair did all the decorating herself of the 🪑townhouse and I mean. It’s ugly as fuck lol. Girl clearly lost her sense of self lol (also as @terrainofheartfelt pointed out blue is a color dair both shared in their childhood bedrooms so 😏)
Okay but for real, I think I knew that TDWP fact in the back of my head but wow when you spell it all out like that…I don’t think it was even a shout out at all, it’s probably just a popular filming location. But the unintentional layers it adds !! But god anon you are so right. Gossip Girl is a goddamn tragedy

Last Year's Fanwork Awards are officially over!
All works have been bookmarked to the Ao3 collection, and hopefully all available winners have been reblogged on tumblr as well - if your post of a winning work hasn't been reblogged yet, let us know!
We had over two hundred nominated fanfiction in 30 categories with 47 winning works in first place (some having the same amount of votes makes it more than the amount of categories), an additional thirty first-place winners in the art, gif and video categories, and over 70 different winning creatives in the first through third places of all the categories! Congrats, everybody!
All nominated and winning fanfiction can be found in the bookmark section of the Ao3 collection linked below:
You can filter it for winners and nominations, and for the different categories (if you can't find the category you are looking for in the suggested bookmarker's tags, go to 'exclude tag' and exclude the category tags with more works, click filter again and it should suggest you new bookmarker's tags now - be careful to only exclude the category tags like 'AU' and not 'winners' 'nominees' and the first-third places, as that would exclude all fics)
It looks like the fandom's favourite tags are:
Tumblr media
The visual works can be found in the web archive of this tumblr under the 'award winner' tag, or on mobile by just searching this blog for 'award winner'.
We hope everyone had fun in this event meant to show appreciation for the fandom's creatives, find new favorites and rediscover old fics, and get some inspiration going! Most events are for creator participants only, we thought it would be great to get everyone involved in nominating and voting for their favourite works. Of course there are other great works as well - the winners just happen to be the favs of the people who voted!
If you want to stay active in the TDWP Femslash fandom, the next event is organized by @sapphicwritingprompts, a valentine's ficathon with different prompts you can sign up for. If you aren't a writer yourself but a reader, check out the new works published for the Mirandy Secret Ice Queen Exchange and maybe show your love by leaving some comments!
And of course, feel free to reblog the winning works on here to keep sharing them around :)

Here she sat. Face to face with Miranda Priestly in her Old Navy sweatshirt she bought on sale 5 years ago that was two sizes too big as the two of them dined over a “feast” of canned beans, canned apricots, and beef jerky that she was sure expired last year.. She took a bite of the jerky as she watched Miranda eat. The woman somehow managed to look regal as ever even when eating food that looked like it could be from a 1950s fallout shelter.
“You know.. It’s funny- before I found you I was honestly thinking of leaving New York..” Andy chuckled as she took a bite of a canned apricot covered in sugary syrup.
Miranda made a noise of disapproval which made Andy look up from her can, confused. “What?”
Miranda poked at her Jerky which she had made Andy serve to her on a plate, “Well where on Earth were you planning to go?”
She shrugged, “I don’t know? Maybe somewhere fun? California? Florida? Gasoline expires in about 4 years give or take, so I kinda got a time limit on my traveling.”
Miranda scoffed at that and finally reluctantly took a bite of her food. “Ridiculous..” she muttered.
“Well.. I just.. I don’t know if I want to spend the rest of my days in the City where I kinda lost everything, you know?”
“While I can agree with that on some level..” The older woman straightened her back and sighed, “You do realize how troubling it would be to travel across the country? Where would we even get a car?”
Andy was about to answer when she noticed Mirandas use of ‘we’. Did the former editor think of them as some sort of team now? She smiled at the idea. “I was thinking we could raid old cars left on the streets? Like how they do in those zombie apocalypse movies, you know?” She took a bite of a spoonful of beans.
“Those are movies, Andrea.”
She sighed, “Yeah. I know.” She put down her empty plate and got up off the chair to start turning on the electric candles she had around the apartment to keep it lit at night. In all honesty she hated the dark. It just reminded her of how empty the world really was. She heard Miranda put her plate on the end table by the couch and move to lay down on the pullout couch. Andy turned on the last few candles so the apartment was slightly lit. She shut the curtains and awkwardly sat on the chair opposite the pull out.
Miranda didn’t seem to take notice as she grabbed a newspaper off of the end table, a copy of the Mirror. One she’d read a million times amidst quarantine. She watched as Miranda squinted to read the pages, she seemed to be blind as a bat without her reading glasses. She smiled fondly at the image in front of her, ignoring the weird circumstances of their situation.
“I like it when you say my name.”
Miranda looked up from the paper and squinted, “What?”
“I like when you say my name, Miranda. Its.. Nice. Ive missed hearing you-“ she quickly corrected herself, “-someone say my name..” Andy gave a nervous smile, hoping her mistake wasn’t too obvious. “You okay reading in the dark? I have a flashlight around here somewhere..”
“Please- it’s hardly dusk.” The older woman flipped a page of the paper and held it away from her face, trying to read.
“Yeah.. But there isn’t much to do besides sleep. This is usually when I turn in for the night.”
Miranda cocked her head towards Andy and scoffed. “Too much sleep is just as bad as too little sleep.”
Andy laughed, “That’s coming from you! I once heard from Emily that you hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep since ‘85!” She smiled as she saw Miranda roll her eyes and figured it was as good as time as any to get into bed. She got off her chair and slid under the mountain of blankets she had piled on the bed to protect her, and now her and Miranda, from the freezing November air. She lay on her side facing away from the editor, stiff as a board, a bit fearful of touching her and scaring her away, even though this was Mirandas idea in the first place.
“Tired?”
“Huh?” She still didn’t turn to face her.
“I asked if you were tired, I don’t like repeating myself.” She heard Miranda set the paper back on the end table.
“Yeah.. I guess- my bodies not used to getting up at 7. It was the first time Ive used my alarm clock since..” She chuckled slightly, in a sad manner. “I can’t remember..” She felt the bed shake slightly as Miranda laid down and felt herself freeze when she felt the older woman’s back against hers. The two laid in silence for what felt like hours..
“Im sorry about Paris.” Andy suddenly spoke, she doubted Miranda was awake anyways to hear her. But she felt the older woman shift beside her.. ‘Shes probably awake.. Just too stubborn to hear me out’.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you..” She said softer this time. It was true, she never meant to hurt Miranda. She even considered reaching out after the whole ‘finding a new job’ ordeal, but she doubted that the queen of fashion would give a shit what she had to say anyways. She sighed shakily. “Im really glad you’re alive.. Really glad..” She felt tears welling up in her eyes again and promptly wiped them away before they would start. She took a deep breath and turned on her side, only to see Miranda staring wide-eyed at her.
Andy froze up, not knowing what to do and acted as if she didn’t see Mirandas stare, burying her face into her pillow.
“Andrea..”
“Hm?”
Miranda sighed and shifted her pillow down slightly so she wasn’t directly face-to-face with Andy but more face-to-neck. Andy didn’t mind. It felt.. Nice. Amazing even, to be this close to another person again, especially Miranda. She put an arm around the older woman and sighed deeply. She felt Miranda tense then relax under her touch.
“Andrea..”
She sighed, trying to act like she definitely was not just crying and opened an eye. “Yeah?”
Mirandas frosty blue eyes practically pierced through her soul, causing Andy to gulp.
“I.. Paris is in the past.” She watched as the older woman took a deep inhale, “I.. I’m glad you’re alive.”
Andy stared at Miranda, her mouth having slightly fallen open. “Oh Miranda.. I-“
“Im not done.”
Andy smiled slightly, “sorry, sorry”
She watched the small smile form on Mirandas lips, “Im happy to be here. In bed with you. It’s much better than the office couch.” Andy grinned and couldn’t help herself as she inched closer to Miranda, which the older woman did not seem opposed to.
“Maybe tomorrow we can do something other than just sitting around Elias-Clarke all day?”
“Oh? And what do you propose we do?”
Andy chuckled and sat up as she spoke, looking down at Miranda.
“Well.. We could go raid some boujee clothing stores? Maybe hit up Chanel? Dior?” Miranda hummed in approval. “We could break into the Natural History Museum? That could be fun. Or! Or- we- I mean.. We could do anything we want really..” She smiled down at Miranda, “Ive never really thought of it like that.. For months I just.. stayed in. Then one day I realized I hadn’t seen a single person walking in the streets for weeks.” She sighed deeply, “I just figured it was just a really bad outbreak of some shitty extreme-flu. That they’d come up with some vaccine or miracle pill and boom, Id be back to work within a month.” She laid back down, this time closer to Mirandas warm body.
“My parents died.. Well, my mom died when the virus was just being talked about. When they were saying it only really affected people with pre-existing conditions. Then my dad died right after they initiated national lockdown. I couldn’t even travel to Ohio for either of their funerals..” her voice was a near whisper at the end, cracking slightly. It hurt to talk about her parents in the past tense. It was like a reminder that she would never see them again. She felt Mirandas hand snake its way around her waist and begin rubbing her back.
“…im sorry.”
Andy let out a small sniffle, “Thank you.” She snuggled closer to Miranda, putting her arms around the editor. This time Miranda didn’t tense, just simply relaxed and let out a deep sigh.
“You smell good.” Andy said softly, before realizing how weird that sounded. But for some reason Miranda laughed. “Thank you..” She smiled and scoffed, “I haven’t had a real shower in months.”
Andy chuckled and buried her face into Mirandas hair ever so slightly. “I usually just wash my hair by using a few jugs of water and shampoo I grabbed from Walgreens.”
Miranda hummed in approval, “Well. Im not that barbaric to use products from Walgreens..”
Andy laughed and cuddled even closer to Miranda. The two relaxing into a comfortable silence.
“Good night Andrea..” She heard Miranda murmur, though the woman seemed half asleep already.
“Goodnight Miranda..”

huge fan of your writing! i'm curious to know if you're working on anything for TDWP fandom? have a great day!
Hello anonymouse! Thank you for your lovely question. I would like to say YES but that... would not be accurate. Once I completed "Even," I have had neither creative motivation nor inspiration. Real life things have taken up nearly 100% of my brain space (not to mention time) these days, but as most writers know that could change on a dime. Here's hoping I get a big idea someday soon and can return to my OTP! ❤
