The Stanley cup thing wouldn't be bad, except it's just been released that they contain lead solder in them which can be exposed if the cup is damaged.

Oops. Well, that's definitely not good.

(Says the woman who wants to raise children in a Victorian house with, among other old toys, a dollhouse made by her great-great-grandfather in the 1920s)

(But I WILL take pains to make sure no lead goes into their mouths, which seems like a step above giving them Convey Drink Into Mouth vessels with a lead risk)

#...okay there might also need to be a 'no drinking from Mama's fancy tea set until your brain is sufficiently developed just in case' clause #BUT THOSE CUPS HAVE NO CHIPS OKAY. AND I USE THEM INFREQUENTLY #the only possible risk could be tannins in the tea causing leaching from the colored glazes #and that can be minimized by not filling the cups past the decoration line #ask #anon #lead #stanley cup #I'll properly seal the dollhouse and make it a Play With When Supervised toy #and also just tell them 'if you eat this paint you could die so don't'

back from bisque again

#em's adventures in the ceramic bowl mines #unfortunately the sharpe plates did not turn out as well as I wanted and I had to paint stain into every single tiny little half-carved #crevice (of which there were far far far too many)#anyway stay tuned for me crying and screaming while I spend the next month or so making a themed 14-piece tea set #(note that I do not remotely Want to make a themed 14-piece tea set)#a friend has promised he will buy me rice wine to drink out of the three-part sake set incorporated into said tea set which is nice I guess #I know I will be weird about it but it's the thought that counts #anyway I have two ideas for my theme - the first is the feeling of a warm and inviting room in late autumn #and the second is doing only creatures and plant motifs related to the flight of the heron across every last piece of ceramic #but then again the first one is significantly more explicable. so.

honestly with the rose mug you never know if you're gonna need mugs so you should probably keep it imo. that's just a me thought as someone who's been victim to "not enough cups in the house" even though we have a whole cup cabinet lol

I have a whole half a cabinet dedicated to only mugs and it’s full (two and a half shelves of mugs double and triple stacked). I have over 40 mugs. I don’t think I’ll run out of mugs any time soon.

#I’m a tea guy. the other half of the cabinet is my teas and then my tea set. :3 #BTW so I don’t sound insane . most of the mugs are like tourist mugs from museums and cities .#most of them aren’t used for drinking tho lmao. I use them for paint water #dual textposts

I'm not a big fan of cubism and I just make this because it's school work, but I ended up liking this and I realized that green and orange look good together. It's a watercolor painting. It's a tea set up and the green background is suppose to be a blanket.

I started a piece of art today which is based on some plant species* that I think would be good to colonize Tim in @gunpowder-tim’s headcanon of the Persephone Tim headcanon; so it’s art based on a headcanon of a headcanon of a headcanon 😅 [sweat simle emoji].

It’s gonna take a long time I think, but I am planning on posting it here even though it’s just gonna be plants and no Tim (because I am much better at drawing these little doodle plants than drawing people).

*so the art is basically of real species we have on Earth, but I maintain that they wouldn’t have the same plants on the City, so in my brain his plants are just similar to these ones.

#i don’t know if i should main tag this. thats always hard for me to tell #persephone tim #i am taking a break now because for some reason it took me almost 4 hours to paint some ghost pipe.#i am researching more species too. im looking at a lot of liverworts. but they are ‘obscure’ enougb thats its not always easy to find if-#they are parasitic or not. i know *some* species of liverwort are. and depending on how im able to draw them i might include non-parasitic-#species because i need the space filled a particular way #im also tired because i stayed up until after 6 am and then didn’t take my sleep meds (because it was 6 am)#oh there’s also gonns be some mushrooms included #ive explained it before but basically the fungus being an intermediary is a thing we see in real life (although not between plants and-#animals afaik) and it makes sense because fungi are closer related to animals than to plants.#now i suppose thats not necessarily true on the City. because we dont know if they are homo sapiens or not (this would make possible-#implications for the other life on the plant). however for now I have no hcs regarding that. its easiest to go with their life works the-#same as ours. but their species are different if for no other reason because of evolution (over time)#well thats whats easiest and most interesting and fun *to me* which i realize is because i am a biologist and happen to also crave as much-#scientific accuracy as possible. but thats not everyones cup of tea. not everyone wants to spend hours searching about different parasitic-#plants to choose one for this and learn about how they interact and what not. probably *most* people wouldnt think this hard about it.#and that’s okay too. if you like to make up your own plants whole cloth and not worry about it aligning with realy world biology. thats-#okay too. do what you like.#(unless you are a tv/movie/book/etc which is supposed to be set in our world on our earth. the wood-god story, which I've discussed before a few times, has Alan Breck Stewart as some manner of shapeshifter, which allows for some advantage in his canon-typical narrow escapes and dashing deeds of derring-do, but also has unfortunate consequences considering he's a swordsman and adventurer who's still got all the weaknesses of the fey without any of the strengths.

“I’ll not cross the running water, even for you, man,” said he, drawing his greatcoat back around himself. “But Alan, I have seen you do so many a time!” “That’s another thing entirely! You’ve seen me take the cold iron in my hand, when you know well enough that it burns me to do it, and much the same I’ll take the ford or the bridge if there is no other way round. But to do it by choice — na, na, there is no chance of it!” And here Alan held out his right hand, his sword hand, and showed the raised white mark upon the palm where his own sword had scarred him time and again. “And as for yourself, Davie, I have seen that you are no liker of such a crossing,” he concluded, looking up at David with all the smug pleasure of one sure that he has had the last word in an argument.

french vacation I've also already previously brought up — here are Keith and Ewen taking some time to relax and recover in France after the events of the book, in a world where they're allowed the time to do so.

“If I am falling asleep on my feet, as you say I am, then I must say the same thing of you, for you have had no more rest than I.” Keith cracked one eye open and looked over to Ewen, who was sitting somewhat precariously in the nearest chair, with his head leaning on his folded hands. Ewen blinked wearily, then yawned, looking rather surprised at himself as he did so. He shook himself out — rather like a tired dog — and laid down on the bed, with his feet hanging off one end and his shoes still on. “There — does that please you?” He turned on his side, and Keith saw the earnestness that was in his face. “It is rather an odd thing to sleep in your shoes, but I will allow you that,” said Keith, an unexpected smile cutting its way across his face. Ewen laughed and kicked off his shoes, letting them lie where they fell, and crawled beneath the covers.

the tea au is one of the most recent entries to the foth wip pile — this one's the consequences of inadvertently blorbo-ing my recent classes on the history of the Japanese tea ceremony, and imagines moving the events of the heron book to the early part of the Tokugawa period. while I am in the early stages of fic-writing, I'm currently in a wretched soup of no one having a proper name, and so shall not post any of that, but instead shall discuss the other half of the project, which is ...a fourteen-piece foth-themed tea set.
