one thing i keep seeing is people saying "the bat brothers wouldn't act like that, have you guys never seen a real sibling relationship?"

and i'm not saying that they're wrong because it's true that real sibling relationships aren't all cute nicknames and hugs and cuddles all the time. it's also fighting and glaring at each other over the dinner table just to forget all about it in an hour because you two decided to go and jointly annoy the youngest. it's painful jabs flying out of your mouth in a fit of anger that leave you both hurt and spinning around on your heel with a final "i hate you" to go lock yourself in another room and lick your wounds. and apologising mere hours later without ever actually uttering the words "i'm sorry".

but, as the eldest sibling: it's also absolutely the bear hugs and the stupid nicknames your siblings love to hate. you wrap them up in your arms and call them something only the two of you have the context for and they flush red or groan and try to escape, but tough luck, buddy, i have eldest sibling muscles (one of them is taller and stronger than me now, the other one will soon be and he's wriggly as a worm and if he doesn't want to be there he will not, and that means nothing because all the escape attempts and the grumbling are just for show. plausible deniability, if you will).

and their chosen method of affection is sneak-attack hugs and stupid whatsapp stickers with "ilysm idiot" on them and threatening to show up at your apartment in the middle of the night, and "i'm going to fight your boss/professor/friend - you deserve better", and, sometimes, it's falling on top of you as you're doom-scrolling through social media and leaving you pinned down for the following three hours as they steal your tablet and watch tv shows because "you have vpn and my laptop is broken again". which isn't exactly an "i love you", but it sure feels like it.

(and it answers every single "i love you" you've ever whispered into their hair.)

I just wanted to talk about tea with you. What's your favorite kind? What do you usually serve at tea parties? Is there a tea that goes exceptionally well with chocolate cake?

So, you enjoy tea with your sweets? That's refreshing, considering I have to deal with my ravenous brothers who would swallow a slice of cake whole if they could. Leon and Jin, mainly.

Now, to answer your questions:

My favorite tea would have to be rose tea. I know it seems like an obvious answer, but there's something to be said about the delicate, floral flavor. I find it to be very nostalgic, it's one of the most popular teas in Rhodolite after all. A nice cup of warm rose tea in the morning is one of life's greatest comforts for me and many Rhodolitians.

The tea I serve at tea parties tends to vary depending on who is attending, what food is being served, and the time of year. For example, if it was wintertime and we were enjoying some orange and cranberry scones, I would choose a nice raspberry tea to accompany them. In the summer, however, delicate white and herbal teas are a must, especially if they are to be served hot! Hot black tea on a midsummer day would be much too heavy.

Some of my go-to teas for tea parties are rose tea, since it's popular in Rhodolite, and earl gray. Earl gray is popular in Jade and is generally well-liked while having a mostly inoffensive flavor. I typically serve it when we have a tea party with Prince Keith, but he also enjoys Rhodolitian rose tea as a change of pace sometimes.

Now, as for teas that pair well with chocolate, that depends on what type of chocolate you have. Since dark chocolate and milk chocolate have different flavor profiles, the teas that complement them are different. However, both pair well with earl gray. As I said, it has an inoffensive flavor! If your chocolate cake has other flavors in it, such as raspberry, that can make things tricky. Any type of black tea is usually a good palate cleanser and will complement the taste of chocolate very well. Try Ceylon or Jadean breakfast tea.

If you are a person who likes the flavor combination, I would also recommend mint tea. The taste of mint doesn't linger too much, but it gives a refreshing taste that goes well with chocolate if you like those flavors together.

If you are a person who enjoys "death by chocolate", so to speak, you may want to try a chocolate black tea blend. I have some that I typically enjoy on its own as a dessert tea, but Jin likes to drink it with his chocolate cake. It makes me want to gag.

Ah! I mean- it's not my preference, but others are allowed to enjoy whatever pairings they please.

I'm that friend that has tea made for my friends when they come over and all my friends look forward to it because they love the way I make tea. What a compliment honestly. I love to have a nice tea party with sweet treats ready to be served when I have company over. Most of my friends that are younger than me (I'm 36 and they're early 20s) have never enjoyed such things because their parents didn't drink tea or didn't know how to make a good cup of tea or simply didn't care about having tea parties with their kids. It's sad tbh. My great grandmother knew how to make amazing tea and treats and I try to keep up the family tradition by sharing with friends and family. It's cool how something as simple as a good cup of tea and a treat can make a crappy day just a bit better. Something about the aroma brings me comfort and relaxation. Never take simple pleasures for granted. 😊🥰

Things have been chaotic, to say the least, but getting into all the reasons why the start of this school year has been a mess and has taken so much out of me would take forever and I want to get to the tea question, but let’s just leave it at my classroom is so full of desks I can barely walk around it and the classes I am teaching just got finalized two days ago - several days into the school year. It’s been a lot of going with the flow, and the flow is going over a waterfall.

Anyways, onto the tea question. I am so excited you asked this.

My everyday go to that I buy in bulk and keep a large bag of at work is T2’s Melbourne Breakfast. It’s just a black tea blend with a little vanilla but it’s great, and perfect for mornings.

When I’m home with my loose leaf tea, my favorite is actually a fandom blend I found when I first joined the Lone Star fandom ages ago. This TK Strand blend (that I affectionately refer to as TeaK) is delicious and has so many flavors that work so well together. I have gone through several of the large tins of it and it never disappoints. Side note, there is a whole cast of these blends and I think I’ve tried them all. I did not hate any of them and really enjoyed most of them. (If I remember correctly Carlos and Nancy’s blends make really good iced teas, and Mateo’s and Marjan’s are tied for my second favorite spot.)

I don’t know if it’s really a blend because it’s not specific or uniform, but it’s generally 3 parts whatever loose black tea I have laying around (Scottish, Irish, or English breakfast normally) tossed into a tea pot with 1 part cream tea. But also I have never measure this so it’s really a go with your heart kind of recipe. This is one I like to let steep for a while so it’s extra strong so I can add milk and a little honey. Credit to @justaswampdemon for this one because we drank it every day while I was visiting and I continued that trend when I got back home.

For the rest you can never go wrong with Earl Grey (T2 also has a good blend for this, if you like a more lavender forward one) or a chai. And an honorable mention to any hibiscus herbal tea and Vahdam’s Turmeric tea, which I drink before bed on bad pain days.

Truly I could go on for so much longer, an alarming portion of my limited kitchen space is dedicated to my tea and I have no shame about it. My bio does not lie. Regardless, I hope you’ve enjoyed my tea novel and thank you for asking!

thoughts on tea? yay or nay? if yay which kind?

yay! i tend to like my drinks pretty sweet, so i dont very often reach for hot teas, but my favorites are fruit teas like pomegranate, especially with cinnamon in it. i also quite like florals, especially lavender, and chamomile. green tea is a rare one for me, but when i drink it i drink a dozen cups in 2 days and then forget it exists. im not much a fan of black teas. i also love sweet teas, especially raspberry.

Hi Yves! It's 🍵 anon. Thanks for the recommendations! I'm curious, do you like matcha? Springtime is matcha season where I live, and it's really tasty with strawberries, lavander, honeydew, oranges, raspberries, all kinds of fruit!

Ahem. To answer your question, I am not very familiar with matcha. I've heard it's a kind of powdered green tea that comes from the land of Ruby.

If it tastes similar to the green tea Prince Keith gifted me, I'm sure it's very delicious with all the flavors you named.

It's actually rather difficult to find green tea in Rhodolite. Herbal and black teas are most mainstream, so only specialty stores carry green and white teas most of the time.

Perhaps I should go out of my way to find one and expand my tea collection.

I got my dad a tardis mug in a box once. Turns out it holds like, 1.5 pints of tea. It didn't look that big when I bought it, although I really should have expected this.

Dad's happy though, he loves tea. We'd probably offer a round of tea at his wake and hear a "yes please" coming from inside the coffin.

Tardis mug that's bigger than it first appears is VERY on brand. I like it! That's such a sweet story! As a tea fiend, I can also relate.

Neji: Not after the war. Before that, it looked less scary, but now. It’s almost impossible for a person to live alone--

Neji(His eye twitched a bit as he released a amusement smirk.): You know, you like being dirty, right?

Tenten(Scoffs, not feeling ashamed.): Yeah, I know.( Changing the subject as she waved her hand. As she whirled around to look over Hinata.) So, how’s everyone’s taking with Neji leaving?

Hinata(Trying to get over the shock, here.):Just okay. Hanabi is on a mission, at the moment. But she wishes ni-san all the best.

Tenten(Sighs deeply with relief.): That’s good, to hear. At least some people are still okay in this campound.

Neji(Annoyed, here. And no thanks to his girl.): Whatever.(Looks up at his cousin.) But? How about Uncle? Hiashi-sama?

Hinata( She wriggled up a lock of her long blunette hair, with nervosity, here.): Well, it is an different matter, you see.

Neji(Warning tone.): Hinata..

Hinata(Finally admited back as if she had no other choice.): Let’s just say that Naruto-kun and I, been trying to bring him out from his depression..

Tenten(Cringed over at this reply.Much like her boyfriend looked here.): Depression?

Neji: What?

Hinata(Shrugged off her shoulders as she decided to take back the teapot and poured tea over into the couple’s cups, as if it would make her feel better.): Yeah. He’s been crying like an never ending waterfall for amost a week, after niisan had told us, he’d be moving out.( Steps back her move as she looks back at Neji, trying to look innocent, here.) He never quite leaves his chambers, unless, it is for to pee.

Neji(Sweatdropped here.): No comment to that..

Tenten(Much like she looked like her boyfriend, here.): No swearing over that, either.
