Time for another review of a great tea. It's been a busy week so I turned to a tea that helps to change my mood. This week's review comes from Yunnan Sourcing called Jin Jun Mei Premium AA grade.

This has been the highest rated tea that I've done and for good reason. The aroma and flavor profile on this can not be easily described. I equate this tea to a Gran Reserva Rioja wine from Spain. The first thing you notice is the incredible silky mouthfeel with integrated tannins. There are so many hints and nuances in both the aroma and flavors.

It's an amazing tea. Please note that this review is for the 2021 offering (which sadly is no longer available). Even then, this tea still glows in the cup.

You need to purchase some of the 2022 from Yunnan Sourcing. It's priced the same as what I purchased last year so it's exceptionally affordable and worth getting some.

It’s Girl Scout Cookie Season! Coming in hot is this pairing for one of my favourites, the Tagalong/Peanut Butter Patty. I’ve always loved peanut butter everything, and these are no exception. They’re sweet but salty, thanks to the peanut butter, and the silky chocolate coating keeps them from feeling too dry. I’m drinking it with a smoky earl grey from @fortnums . This black tea is strong enough to stand against the cookie flavours, and the bergamot notes help lift what could otherwise be a heavy combination. Add a little creamer and you’ve got a perfectly grown-up snack; like milk and cookies meets afternoon tea. I've done absolutely nothing of intrinsic value today, except this. I dipped into a pair of autumnal "oolongs" from a small Darjeeling village called MandalGaon. These were passed my way by @tealeaftheory last year ... and I never got around to them until now. . . Unlike the other offerings from this village garden, tea leaves weren't given an extensive smoking or roasting. Rather, they were simply left to mid-oxidized. For one, the leaves weren't even treated to a rolling process. For the other, they were. And this was definitely apparent in the coloring of the leaves. More bruising was present in the rolled batch. . . After brewing for 3 minutes, the first oolong brewed light, while the other possessed a first flush amber palette. As for taste? The flat leaf version was kelpy and sweet, like Japanese Awabancha, while the other was requisitely Darjeeling. . .
