The Marauder was sitting on a world in the Outer Rim called Cassander. It was a lush, green planet with a few major bodies of water. However, most notably, the planet was growing in population and had recently become Ord Mantell's most competitive trading rival.
The ship was nearly empty, except for a singular pilot sitting in the cockpit. She was not the rightful owner of the ship, but had been assigned this mission with the group of rouge clones that did own the ship. The squad was located somewhere in the capital city nearby, attempting to steal the package in which they had come for. The pilot waited patiently for the pickup call.
Now, the pilot had been waiting for nearly two hours for the call to come through the comms. She did everything she could think of to pass the time, which included rummaging through the squad's belongings. Though she didn't find anything of value.
The gonk droid made a noise as he waddled into the cockpit. The pilot went through the ship's log, seeing all the planets the squad had recently visited. Their last stop happened to be Ord Mantell where they were assigned this mission in particular.
"Y/n! Come in," Hunter's voice sounded desperate over the comms. She quickly jolted forward in her seat, pressing the button to relay a message back.
"Read you loud and clear," Y/n responded. She began clicking buttons on the control panel, preparing the ship for liftoff.
"We need a pick up. We've been compromised," Hunter explained. He was panting on the other end of the line, which probably meant they were running.
"What part of stealth mission is so hard to understand?"
"Just hurry. We don't have a lot of time. They're sending air support," Hunter warned her.
"Oh great," Y/n scoffed sarcastically.
"I'm sending you our coordinates," Tech interjected over the communications.
As the Marauder departed off the ground, the landing gear retracted back into the ship. The wings moved downwards as the ship was angled towards the sky. The engine roared to life; the ship began flying towards the rendezvous location.
The workers from the trading post were shooting their blasters at the criminals running away from them. They tried to keep up with them, firing relentlessly as they got away with some of their own goods.
It was Wrecker, Hunter, and Tech who were carrying the heavy cargo in the form of a shipping container. Normally, it would take four guys to carry the cargo, but since Wrecker was so strong, he was able to carry the left side without help. Behind them, Echo and Omega fired shots back at the workers. They covered them as the rest ran as fast as they could.
"Whatever is in here, it better be worth it." Wrecker grunted, dodging the blaster fire.
"As long as we get paid," Hunter responded.
The small squad continued running through the vast forest, maneuvering around trees in hopes of using its coverage to their advantage. They came into a clearing with the workers getting closer each second. All of the sudden, a cliff came into their view which caused them to halt in their place.
"Where's our ride?" Echo asked desperately. He peered around his shoulder with his gun still raised.
"There!" Omega pointed into the sky.
The Marauder rounded the corner of the mountain, coming into their line of view. It flew over to the edge of the cliff to meet them. The ramp lowered to hover right by the cliff, allowing the squad to climb aboard the vessel.
The blaster fire was beginning to hit the sides of the ship. The squad fired back, striking a few of the workers down. Once everyone was aboard, Hunter slammed the button on the side of the wall so the ramp was lifted.
"That's everyone," Hunter shouted. "Get us out of here!"
"Roger that," Y/n said.
Pulling a lever, the thrusters sent a powerful volt back which propelled the ship forward rapidly. By steering the ship, Y/n directed the ship back into the mountain range. She could hear the air support coming up behind them. She took a sharp turn to deter them.
The sharp turn caused each member of the squad to loose their footing and grab something nearby to steady themselves. Carefully, Tech quickly made his way into the cockpit. He leaned over the back of the pilot's seat, resting his hand on the panel for support. He hadn't taken the time to remove his helmet.
"That is sufficient," Tech announced to the pilot. "I'll take it from here."
"A little busy here," Y/n stated instead. She turned the wheel to the left, taking another sharp turn which made everything in the ship turn that way. And Tech ended up leaning a little into her.
"Wrecker," Tech ordered. He moved to sit in the co-pilot seat which was where Echo usually sat. "Get to the tail gun."
There were at least six smaller ships following them at this point, firing as many rounds as possible. The Marauder swayed to the left and right, expertly dodging each blast aimed at them. In the tail gun, Wrecker got into position before firing back at the ships. He managed to hit one of them, but it wasn't enough to bring the ship down.
Back in the cockpit, Tech began pressing a few buttons on the control panel. The pilot glared at him through the corner of her eye, knowing exactly what he was trying to do. She maintained her grip on the sides of the wheel.
"Transitioning controls back to co-pilot," Tech announced. He went to press the final red button, but she swatted his hand away. "What are you doing?" Tech demanded an explanation.
"I know how to fly," Y/n said through gritted teeth. Her eyes were still facing forward as she focused on the task at hand.
"I never said you didn't," Tech informed her. "I am simply stating that I am ready to transition controls back to me as I am more capable of flying this vessel than you. It is my ship after all," Tech said as a matter of factly.
Hunter rolled his eyes in the background. He knew it was pointless to argue over the comment.
"You weren't hired to be the pilot for this mission," Y/n argued back. "I can get us out of this."
With that comment, one of the blaster fires struck the right wing which caused it to catch on fire. The two of them peered out the window, spotting the trail of black smoke falling behind the hit.
"You were saying?" Tech replied. He gestured to the damage done to his ship. She rolled her eyes at him.
A few more ships began trailing behind them. They began firing more shots towards them. There was no way one ship could take the whole fleet down.
"Uh guys," Wrecker announced from the tail gun. "We've got more incoming."
Ignoring the comment, Tech quickly transitioned controls back to his wheel before the other pilot could protest. He gripped the wheel harshly, moving the wheel to take a sharp left hand turn. The ship was forced to swerve around the side of the mountain; a few of the enemy ships crashed into the sides as a result. She switched controls back to her wheel, taking a right hand turn. The ship weaved around another mountainside.
Behind the googles of his helmet, Tech squinted his eyes in slight irritation. He changed controls once again. He quickly grabbed onto the lever, pulling it backwards so the thrusters gave another jolt of energy. Now they were flying a little faster.
Nevertheless, another blaster hit managed to strike the back of the ship. The Marauder jolted forward from the force of the blast. The two pilots lurched forward in their seats. The others continued to hold onto things for support.
"You aren't doing much better," Y/n replied snakily. She reached forward to press the button once more. She turned the wheel as far as she could, which caused the ship to completely turn around. She pulled the lever for the extra push.
"What are you doing?" Tech exclaimed. "Are you trying to get us killed?"
Down in the tail gun, Wrecker began firing at the ships flying directly in front of them. With his expertise, he struck down three ships. Those ships exploded into a million pieces, fierce flames erupting around them. The Marauder flew through the fire without taking damage.
The enemy ships needed to turn around before continuing their chase. They quickly swerved their ships. Once the ships were facing the right way, the thrusters kicked in for that extra power. And the enemy continued their pursuit.
"I will only say this one more time," Tech's modulated voice spoke through his helmet. He turned to face her in his seat. His eyes looked angry behind his googles. "Relinquish controls now."
"Over my dead body," Y/n challenged him. She didn't take her eyes off him.
In the background, Hunter and Echo seemed to raise their eyebrows at the two pilots. They looked between them, half expecting one of them to cave in and go back to flying the ship. But neither of them faltered.
"Uh guys," Omega interrupted them.
Both of them directed their line of attention back towards flying the ship. With a quick maneuver, they managed to dodge the mountain they were heading straight for at the last second. A few more ships crashed into it.
"You're both going to get us all killed if you don't figure something out," Hunter shouted behind them.
Reaching forward, Y/n went to press a few more buttons, but Tech swatted her hand away this time. He went ahead and pressed his own buttons. He was punching in the coordinates for their destination.
"You are not the best pilot in the galaxy," Y/n claimed. She glanced at him through the corner of her eye. He kept putting in the coordinates.
"Hardly a measurable cause," Tech said with a roll of his eyes in annoyance.
"You haven't made the Kessel Run in fourteen parsecs," Y/n added. It was like she was insisting that it could be measurable.
"I have a theory that it can be done in twelve," Tech stated as a matter of factly.
"I highly doubt that," Y/n chuckled at the comment.
Suddenly, Y/n pressed the wheel forward with all of her might. The ship began to descend down at a rapid pace, shifting into a nose dive position. The ground was growing closer and closer with each second. The enemy ships following right behind them, firing non-stop.
Both Hunter and Echo were holding onto panels behind them. The force of falling forwards was pushing them back. They were unable to move.
"You have to pull up--" Tech ordered in a slight panic.
"Oh for the last time," Y/n shouted over him. "I know what I'm doing!"
At the last possible second, the wonderfully skilled pilot pulled the wheel into her chest so that the ship was pulled up. It was so close to touching the ground, but it missed it by a hair. The last two ships crashed into the ground, exploding suddenly and sending debris flying.
Now that the threat of the chase was finally over, Y/n could relax in her seat a little. The rest of the squad was completely silent, realizing that she had managed to get them out of the situation with little damage in the end. Beside her, Tech kept his eye on her since he was still angry with her.
The Marauder started to climb in altitude, shifting towards the edge of the planet's atmosphere. It finally passed through the atmosphere, flying through space. The stars throughout the galaxy sparkled as the planet grew small and smaller. It was now all behind them.
"Are the coordinates to Ord Mantell in?" Y/n wondered. Her voice was so much calmer now. Her shoulders slumped at her sides. But she refused to make eye contact.
"Yes. They are in," Tech informed her softly. His eyes softened behind his helmet. He studied her carefully, trying to figure out what she was thinking in that brain of hers. He quickly shook it off, directing his attention back towards the void of space in front of them.
Without thinking, Tech and Y/n went to reach for the lever to send them into hyperspace. Their hands grazed each other's with neither of them being any closer to the lever than the other. They both awkwardly pulled their hands away upon contact.
"I'm sorry," Y/n muttered under her breath.
He wasn't sure if she was apologizing for the situation they just came out of or the situation that just occurred with the lever. Nevertheless, she reached for the lever once again, pulling it back to send the ship into hyperspace.

Back at Ord Mantell, the Bad Batch went back to Cid's Parlor. They stood on the other side of her desk, having just delivered the cargo that she paid them to retrieve. She peered into the package, checking to make sure everything was there.
Behind the group, Y/n stood there in total silence. Her eyes were trained on the floor as she shifted in her place awkwardly. She waited for their boss to address them.
Beside her, Tech stood about an arm's length away. He glanced at her through the corner of his eye, taking note of her odd demeanor. He raised his finger and opened his mouth to say something to her, but he was rudely cut off.
"Looks like everything is here," Cid announced. She closed the cargo container. She began rummaging through her drawers, collecting the correct amount of credits to pay both parties.
Now Y/n went to take a few steps forward and made her way through the members of the squad. She stood in front of the desk. Her boss went ahead and placed a handful of credits in her hand.
"That is your cut," Cid told her. She handed the rest of the credits to Hunter. "And here is your cut. I'll call you when I have another job," Cid claimed.
There was a brief moment of silence in the room. Cid went to cross her arms over her chest. She narrowed her eyes at the company of six standing in front of her.
"You guys work well together," Cid said honestly. "You should work together more often."
In response, Y/n breathed a scoff under her breath. The boys turned their heads to look at her, slightly surprised at her reaction. She shook her head in denial.
"Yeah. Like that's ever going to happen," Y/n rolled her eyes at the notion.
Without hesitation, she spun around on the heels of her feet in order to head towards the door. She purposely bumped into Tech's shoulder a little too harshly. She left the room with the door closing behind her.
"What's wrong with her?" Cid scoffed. She looked at the rest of the squad for some form of explanation, but none of them said anything. "Fine! Be all quiet and mysterious. See if I care," Cid said.
By the time the Bad Batch left Cid's office, Y/n was nowhere to be found in the bar. They went to sit down at the bar so they could order drinks to celebrate another successful mission. They sat in complete silence, thinking about what transpired during the mission.
"Where do you think she's gone?" Echo wondered.
Though they never pulled missions together, the Bad Batch knew that the pilot worked for Cid and was stationed at Ord Mantell. They had seen her quite often over the past few months. They had grown familiar of her. And now they worried about her.
"The odds are that she returned to her flat," Tech explained. He pushed the bridge of his googles up to be more secure on his face. He kept his focus on his data pad.
"Probably," Hunter shrugged his shoulders. "But it's late. Which means it's dark out."
"Astute observation," Tech claimed sarcastically. He gave a single nod, but didn't take his eyes off his data pad.
"And she's walking back to her flat...at the edge of town...late at night," Hunter further explained.
"She will be fine," Tech stated. He knew where he was going with this. "She is always saying how she can take care of herself and doesn't need our help. Why would that change now?"
The other members remained silent. They turned their heads to take quick glances at one another. With a silent agreement, Hunter rose to his feet and went to stand by Tech. He roughly grabbed his shoulders and hoisted him out of his seat, much to his dismay.
"Go find her. Make sure she gets home safe. And apologize to her," Hunter ordered.
"I do not see why I have to be the one to apologize when I did noth--" Tech began. He was quickly cut off.
"Tech," Hunter said in a warning tone of voice. He crossed his arms over his chest, showing that he meant business.
"Fine," Tech said in defeat. "I will apologize."
With some hesitation, Tech grabbed his helmet and fitted it over his head. He began making his way towards the door of the parlor, leaving the rest of his crew behind. He walked through the deserted streets of Ord Mantell, passing a few shady people in the process.
Now Tech knew that she lived near the edge of town because she had once mentioned it during a conversation. Besides that, Tech really didn't know where to look and simply hoped he'd bump into her before she got home so he'd know she was safe. He passed by a few alleys, peeking through each one briefly.
The Marauder was parked in a hanger bay only a few blocks away from the parlor. Just as Tech passed by the hanger, he heard a familiar voice coming from his very own ship. He backtracked by taking two steps backwards. He peered into the hangar bay to glance at his ship.
Stepping into the bay, Tech tilted his head to the side in slight curiosity. The right wing of the ship began to move downwards until it lay completely horizontal. A few seconds later, Y/n began descending down the ramp with a toolbox in hand. She walked over to the wing of the ship.
Upon seeing her, Tech sharply inhaled. He felt the back of his throat close up and his shoulders tensed at his sides. He hesitantly took a few steps forward, fiddling with his fingers nervously.
Reaching upwards, Y/n placed the single toolbox onto the flat surface of the ship's wing. She proceeded to grab onto the wing before hoisting herself up onto it. She climbed to the center of the wing to assess the damage inflicted in the crossfire.
At this point, Y/n had no idea that he was also in the hanger bay with her. She opened the toolbox, rummaging through to find the right tool. The damage done to the right wing was a massive gaping hole with burnt edges from the fire. It would eventually need a panel welded to cover it up again. But for now, she focused on the internal repairs.
Thankfully, from the assessment, nothing major had been hit. A few bolts had gotten loose and a few parts needed to be replaced. She focused on that for now.
After grabbing a socket spanner, Y/n leaned down to place her arm into the gaping hole of the wing. It went so far down that her chest was practically pressed against the surface of the wing. She used the spanner to tighten some bolts.
"What...are you doing?" Tech decided to finally announce his presence. He stepped forward until he stood in the light coming from the opening of the hanger bay.
Upon hearing that familiar voice, Y/n only rolled her eyes to herself. She continued her work as she preferred to focus on repairs rather than on him. She grunted softly, making sure that first bolt was nice and tight.
"What do you want Tech?" Y/n wondered. She pulled her arm out of the hole to assess her work. She didn't even bother to glance towards him, knowing he would have sent her a look of disapproval for working on his ship.
Slowly, Tech began to lower his gaze to the floor. He contemplated his next words carefully, fighting the urge to lash out at her for meddling with his ship. He liked things to be a certain way and would have much preferred if he did the actual repairs. Now Tech didn't want to fight with her so he changed his approach.
"I analyzed that you left the parlor on your own and thought it would be better if I accompany you back home," Tech explained. She huffed at his answer.
"I've told you before," Y/n began. "I can--"
"Take care of yourself," Tech finished. He adjusted the lenses of his goggles though he still wore his helmet. He noticed how she fell silent. "Yes, I've gathered that much."
"Why are you really out here?" Y/n wondered. She went to lean down again in order to tighten more bolts.
"I...could ask you the same," Tech replied slowly. He honestly felt like this was the first civil conversation they had ever had.
"I wanted to make some repairs on your precious ship since it was apparently my fault," Y/n claimed. Her tone sounding a little harsher now. She tightened two more bolts in the process.
"That is not what I meant," Tech interjected. He took a step forward. He gazed up at her figure perched on the wing, attempting to reason with her. "I was...caught up in the moment. Shouldn't have said those things," Tech confessed quietly.
"Well, don't worry. As soon as I finish up these repairs, I'll leave and you'll never have to see me again," Y/n responded.
For some reason, Tech couldn't combat a response to her comment. He simply nodded his head understandingly. He lowered his gaze to stare down at the ground and allowed her to finish her repairs in silence. He thought for some time how he could fix this relationship since it wasn't his strong suit. Fixing things was more his style.
"Blast," Y/n's voice pulled him out of his train of thought. He glanced up at her.
The sleeve of her blue flight suit had gotten in the way of her repairs. She had rolled her sleeves up to keep the material out of her way, but the sleeves continued to fall back down to her wrists every time she placed her arm in the hole. She pulled back and rose to her feet.
Without hesitation, Y/n's hands flew to the top button of her flight suit. She began to undue the buttons in which she revealed the black tank top underneath. All the while, Tech studied her carefully as her nimble fingers worked steadily. His pupils dilated behind those goggles of his.
Upon reaching her waistline, Y/n had stopped unbuttoning and shrugged the suit off her shoulders. She tied the sleeves around her waist. She dropped to her knees to continue working without the distraction of her clothes getting in the way.
Slowly, Tech raised his hand to the side of his head and clicked the bottom to save the recording to the drive. He records everything and he was certainly glad he recorded that. He wanted to revisit the recording later for his own 'research' purposes.
"There," Y/n sighed. She sat back on her knees, wiping her dirty hands on the pants of her flight suit. "Repairs are finished."
Naturally, Y/n began to pack away the tools she used and placed them back into the box. She closed the lid of the toolbox, tossing it over the edge of the wing for it to land on the ground with a thump. She then proceeded to jump down off the wing of the ship, landing a little hard so her knees buckled slightly.
Just like she promised, Y/n had every intention of leaving the hanger bay so that they'd never have to see her again. She went to walk away, but just as she passed beside him, Tech reached out and grabbed her forearm. She halted in her steps.
Neither of them could look at each other. She felt his gloved fingers digging into her bare skin, but not hard enough that it would leave marks. She slowly turned to look at him, but he kept his head down.
"I...really came here to apologize," Tech confessed. When Tech lifted his gaze to meet her face, he saw how her eyebrows went up in slight surprise. It definitely caught her off guard.
"I see," Y/n thought about his words carefully. She shifted her balance from one foot to the other. "So all those things you said back on Cassander where just...what?"
He closed his eyes, seriously regretting everything he said. "Like I said earlier, in the moment, I was incredibly frustrated with you."
"Because I wouldn't give up the controls?" Y/n said flatly.
"No, because I recognize that my levels of dopamine are elevated when I'm around you and I distance myself from you in order to prevent that from happening,” Tech confessed before he could even stop himself.
But now, hearing what he just said, Tech quickly averted his gaze away from her. He was thankful to be wearing his helmet so she wouldn't see how bright his cheeks had gotten. He released his grip on her arm, letting it fall back down to his side.
For once, Y/n actually understood what he said. Her eyebrows rose in surprise at this sudden confession. She definitely did not expect him to blurt out his emotions that night, especially after their fight on the ship. She knew better than to tease him at a time like this.
"I-I don't understand why," Tech said rather sadly. That was the first time that he'd spoken those words out loud.
What broke her heart was the tone of defeat laced with his words. It told her that he'd been wrestling with these foreign emotions and thoughts for some time. He didn't know how to react around her and so he acted with defense. He pushed those feeling away, fighting against it.
Hesitantly, Y/n lifted her hands to the sides of his helmet. She went to remove his helmet slowly, revealing his face to her for the first time today. She tossed the helmet to the side without a care in the world, but he still refused to meet her gaze.
"You are probably repulsed by me," Tech began. "From the way I treated you and the words I said to--"
But Tech wasn't able to finish that sentence. Because Y/n had taken his face in her hands and leaned upwards to press her lips against his own. He froze in his place.
His eyes were wide open in surprise. His hands were elevated on either side of him because he didn't know what to do with them. He could feel the softness of her lips still against his own. Before Tech had the chance to process what was happening, Y/n pulled away from him.
The two of them were standing so close together; the chests being pressed against one another's. Their breath mingled as their noses bumped together once or twice. He glanced down at her lips because he wanted nothing more than to taste them once more.
His hands found their way down to her hips with one hand sneaking around her lower back. He pressed that hand into her back which brought her body even closer to his. She released a small gasp.
"Apology accepted," Y/n whispered to him. She played with the edge of the plastoid armor on his chest. "And I'm sorry for the way I acted towards you."
"Why cyare?" Tech wondered. He raised his hand to the side of her face, tucking a single strand of hair behind her ear. He held his hand against her cheek.
"I should have given up the controls. You are the better pilot and it is your ship," Y/n explained with a shake of the head.
"I am not the better pilot," Tech stated firmly.
There was a moment of silence between them. "I can't make split second decisions and calculations like you do when you're flying."
"Well, I've never done the Kessel Run." Tech argued back playfully. He smiled down at her. "At least, not in twelve parsecs."
"Fourteen," Y/n corrected him. "I did it in fourteen."
"Fine. Fourteen," Tech caved in.
Slowly, Tech tilted his head to the side and began to lean down with every intention of kissing her again. But the two of them were interrupted when someone cleared their throat over by the entrance of the hanger bay. The two of them quickly pulled apart and turned to face whoever had interrupted them.
The other members of the Bad Batch stood looking at them near the entrance of the hanger. It was initially Hunter who had cleared his throat to garner their attention; he stood with his arms folded across his chest just as a disapproving father would. Beside him, Wrecker and Omega were practically squealing with each other. They couldn't contain their excitement. And Echo averted his gaze in an awkward manner.
"Care to explain yourselves?" Hunter hinted. He glanced between the two of them with a playful smirk on his face.
"I think they finally confessed that they like each other," Wrecker interrupted. His words coming out louder than anticipated. He nudged Echo who stood beside him.
"You think?" Echo glanced at him.
"It's exciting, isn't it?" Omega smiled at them.
Meanwhile, Tech quickly collected his helmet off the ground and placed it over his head once again. He hoped it would cover the blush creeping up his neck to his face. He knew he wouldn't hear the end of the taunting from his brothers anytime soon.
"Well boys. It looks like we got another member on our crew," Hunter said slowly. "Welcome to the Bad Batch."

Hello there ma’am! I was wondering if I could request a headcanon with Hunter & Tech? And if they had a s/o who’s pretty forgetful? This is up to you but thank you so much! 🙏
author's note: thanks for your request, anon! Hope this is what you're looking for!
warning(s): none, just fluff

"Is this going to be a reoccurring habit?"
At first, Tech believed your forgetfulness simply to be that of human error—a once in a blue moon type of thing that he could easily look over.
When it became clear that this was going to amount to an almost everyday obstacle...well, he became annoyed to say the least.
Forgetting how to pilot the Maurader was one thing —despite Tech having shown you the mechanics countless times—but forgetting your weapon when you needed it most was another bridge he couldn't risk crossing more than once.
Tech's annoyance, of course, was birthed from pure worry for your safety and everyone else's. He wouldn't be able to forgive himself if something were to happen to you because you didn't have what you needed.
"Just trust me. After all, based off of prior instances, I am the least forgetful out of the both of us."
Upon learning that your forgetfulness was going to be a reoccurring habit, Tech finds himself checking after you. Despite being an expert on the mechanics of ships, he'll take it upon himself to go behind you and check your work and question it.
At first it's insulting. You think he doesn't trust you, that you can't handle yourself.
In order to ease his anxiety, Tech even keeps a close eye on you whenever a new mission is set upon the squad.
He goes through a checklist of items you'll need right before the Maurader lands— listing them off out loud, as you confirm with a reluctant 'got it ' or a curt 'check'.
When you've shamefully tightened the straps on your boots, Tech senses your frustration annd walks towards you.
He places his hand on the small of your back, pulls you close to him and kisses your forehead, before pressing your foreheads together.
"Now, are you sure you've got everything?"
"Tech!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Are you...uh, forgetting something?"
Yeah...you're a bit of a liability to Hunter.
Given that he already has Omega to worry about, he's not at all thrilled that you're forgetfulness pops up more than he would've liked. But thankfully, he isn't as blunt as Tech about your misgivings.
In fact, Hunter tries to help you out.
He's already packing an extra blaster in case you forget yours. He sets aside a knife just for you to keep in case of emergencies. He's always at your side during missions just in case he has to catches you when you fall. Or rather, remind you.
"I just want you safe."
Of course, at some point you start to think Hunter believes you're incapable of taking care of yourself. Or being beneficial tot he squad.
This is far from the truth in Hunter's eyes. So much so, he pulls you aside one quiet night on the Maurder.
His hands settle on your waist lightly and your hand resting against cheek. The skin under your fingertips is scarred with wrinkles birthed from exhaustion.
Without saying a single word, you have a feeling you were the cause of those tired lines on his face.
"Is this about the incident on Ord Mantell?" you whisper in the dead of night. You cringe, recalling you had forgotten what position you were supposed to be in just before the rancor came charging at you. Hunter had stepped in front of you, taking the bulk of the force so that you didn't have to.
The next day Hunter woke up more sore than usual.
Hunter is amused by this, the corner of his mouth twitching upwards at the memory.
He shakes his locks and brings you close to him in an embrace, his chin resting on the top of your head.
"Perhaps we'll have you stationed in the ship for the next mission. You and Omega both."
It's a joke, because you both know you and Omega are too stubborn to sit and watch the others on a mission.
You laugh at as you lightly hit his chest armor. Hunter grunts playfully. Before you can fully pull away, Hunter pulls back to him. It's this silent embrace that ensures you he only cares about your wellbeing.

Even as a young child, people around you noticed how you suddenly got up at night and interacted with things around you without knowing anything about it when you woke up.
It was never a big problem, a little strange at first, but they quickly got used to it. Even the boys learned to deal with it. When Tech was going over your medical report before you arrived and read the word somnambulism, he made sure to learn about it and explain it to his brothers.
They were skeptical when Tech explained it to them, Crosshair even joked that he might accidentally shoot you if you sleepwalked through the Marauders and scared him.
But after Tech's explanation, they all took the time to read up on it, so Wrecker dismissed the idea of scaring you so you'd wake up, Hunter found a way to not let your wanderings overwhelm his senses, and Tech found the best way to handle your sleepwalking.
And even Echo, who came much later, found a way to deal with it. After his first couple of nights on the marauder he thought that you would just ignore him when you walked past him at night, but he found out more about the sleepwalking and your behavior during it, by asking Tech about your nightly behavior.
"Good morning (y/n)"
Said Echo with a coffee in his hand as you walked past him with heavy steps. Crosshair snorted in amusement as you ignored his brother and simply walked into the Fresher.
"Definitely a good morning when she looks like a bird built a nest on her head overnight."
Crosshair said, grinning as he polished the scope of his Sniper.
Rubbing the sleep from your eyes, you looked up into the mirror of the ship and sighed. Why did you have to get up so early again? Oh, yes, because Tech wanted to explore Endor and its plant species. But of course, this idiot - handsome idiot - had to leave early so he wouldn't run out of time.
After you went to the toilet you took a refreshing shower to wake up. Slowly you stood under the running water and leaned your head back so that you looked directly at the ceiling of the marauder before closing your eyes and letting the warm water just wash over you.
The warm water was almost like a trance, felt so warm and soothing that you could fall asleep again. So warm, so warm, so coooooold!!
A shrill scream escaped you and you immediately snapped out of your trance as the warm water suddenly turned ice cold. A cackle sounded in front of the Fresher door, followed by muffled voices and then the warning voice of the Seargent.
You quickly got ready and put on your clothes to walk out of the fresher to see an innocently grinning Wrecker and an amused Crosshair.
"I hate you both"
you said and slapped Crosshair on the back of the head, who just grumbled under his breath before you went to your bed to put your sleep shirt on it and make your bed.
After you were done, you slowly walked into the cockpit of the ship and saw Echo and Tech hunched over his datapad talking quietly about something and Hunter sitting on one of the chairs with his eyes closed.
"Good morning guys"
You said quietly and gently put your hand on Hunter's shoulder who slowly opened his eyes and looked at you with a teasing grin.
"Had a nice shower?"
He asked and cackled as you gently punched him in the ribs, Tech and Echo both grinned as they looked at you and you huffed in annoyance.
"Oh yes, unbelievably pleasant shower, so pleasant that I hope I destroyed your eardrums with my scream."
you mumbled and sat down behind Echo on the chair.
"Almost."
Hunter chuckled and nudged you with his foot. You gave him an amused look and then looked at Tech who was engrossed in his datapad. His eyes kept shifting from left to right as he read the article and his teeth nibbled lightly on his lower lip. He looked so handsome when he was focused.
"So, where are we going today?"
You asked, leaning against the back of the chair. Tech looked up after a few seconds and looked at you.
"I found a holonet path in the woods near us that's pretty isolated from the locals. There are some sightings of the native plants of endor along this path, so we will go there."
he said, putting his datapad in the bag attached to his armor before standing up and indicating that we could head out.
"And why are we leaving so early?"
Echo asked, standing up to follow his brother out of the cockpit. The others, including you, also got up to follow Tech out of the ship.
"While no sightings of Gorax have been made in this area so far, we should still be on the lookout, as they mainly inhabit forests and are carnivores. However, they are much more active during the day, so we will leave before sunrise to arrive at the site at daybreak."
Tech said matter-of-factly and typed on his datapad while you fell into formation. First Hunter, next to him Tech, then Echo and you, and finally Wrecker and Crosshair.
"Carnivore, Great"
Echo grumbled. You agreed with a grunt and looked ahead of you, it was still relatively dark, the branching crowns of the trees made it seem even darker than it actually was.
The hike to Tech's place was about an hour and a half long and as good as silent, but the rising of the two stars around Endor made themselves visible and slowly lit up the sky. The place he led you to was incredibly beautiful, an open area within the forest.
Wrecker sat down almost directly against one of the trees and leaned against it with his eyes closed, Crosshair followed suit and lowered himself down next to Wrecker. Hunter stood around in the field and just looked at the sky, Tech and Echo were already walking to one of the bushes that were at the edge of one of the trees and had red berries on them.
You sighed, closed your eyes slightly, and just concentrated on the sounds that endor was bearing. Chirping of various birds, the rustling of leaves and a noise that sounded like flowing water?
You opened your eyes and looked to the left, from where the noise was coming, and slowly walked towards it. Tech had told you that there wasn't much water on Endor, so you walked towards it curiously.
Pushing through the branches you arrived at a small stream surrounded by beautiful flowers. Indigo blue plants surrounded by small insects that looked almost like a nerine flower.
You crouched down gently and looked at them closely, watching their stalks blowing lightly with the wind and the insects moving slowly back and forth on the flowers. Your head tilted slightly to the side as you softly touched them.
"It is called Aura Blossom, the favorite plant of the Ewoks... it is often used as decoration for the Festival of Hoods. It is known for its indigo blue color and for its bioluminescence, which describes the production and emission of light by a living organism. It is also sometimes confused with wisties or the firefolk."
said a voice behind you as he walked up to you and squatted down next to you.
"They are gorgeous"
you said softly and watched as one of the insects crawled lightly onto your finger before crawling back onto the plant.
Tech looked at you and slowly nodded before answering.
"Yes indeed, really beautiful"
You watched as he carefully took a sample of the plant and gently put it into one of the test vials to analyze it on the Marauder.
"Tech?" he hummed, looking up at you from the sample before you spoke again.
"What are wisties?"
he smiled slightly and stowed the probe in his pocket as he stood up and held out his hand for him to pull you to your feet. You slowly walked back to the others as he began to speak:
"Wisties, also called Fire People, are a small, radiant, sentient species native to the forests of Endor. Like the Ewoks with whom they share their homeworld, the fairy-like flying Wisties are fierce defenders of their forests, and the two species are allies. The Ewoks sometimes use pouches full of wisties as weapons against invaders. They throw the pouches in the direction of a target; on impact, the wisties emerge and attack the invaders. They are about the size of your palm"
"The size of my palm?"
You asked, looking at him with curious eyes. He stopped beside you and turned to you and carefully took your hand. His index finger gently began to draw a shape in your palm and you watched intently.
When he was finished he looked up into your eyes and left your hand in his grasp. Still looking at your palm, you slowly looked up at him with a smirk.
"Wow, so so small and the Ewoks just throw them at their opponents, a bit cocky isn't it?"
The brown-haired one grinned and looked you firmly in the eyes when you started to laugh at the thought, he also started to laugh slightly.
After you laughed you both grew silent, a comfortable quitness fell between you as you stood there, your hand still in his and a soft smile on your faces as you looked at each other.
His brown eyes shone so beautifully in the light of the stars, he looked so relaxed and the smile on his face made him look much younger than he sometimes looked on the battlefield.
His hand rested slightly on your hip and he gently looked down at your lips before looking into your eyes again, almost like a question. You nodded softly and he leaned down to you, he was so close, your noses were touching and it was only a few centimeters to-
"TECH! (Y/N!) WHERE ARE YOU?"
Wrecker's loud voice pulled you apart and you stepped away from each other, you sighed in annoyance and Tech looked from you with red cheeks to Wrecker who came out from behind the branches.
"We are here, we were just on our way to you after taking a sample of the Aura Blossom".
Tech said quickly and cleared his throat before walking quickly to the others, Wrecker looked after him in surprise and looked at you, but you just shrugged and followed them. Admittedly, it stung a bit that he left so quickly after you almost kissed, but it was Tech.
Tumblr media
The walk back to the Marauder was quiet, you talked quietly with Hunter, Crosshair walked beside you two, wrecker in front of you and Tech and Echo in the very front talked about their samples.
"Did something happen?"
hunter suddenly asked and crosshair looked at you with an interested look.
"What should have happened?"
you asked confused and looked at hunter curiously. He just shrugged his shoulders and looked ahead.
"You tell me."
He answered and pushed you slightly to the side. After you looked at him even more questioningly, he sighed and gave you a slight teasing look.
"When you came from the river, your heart was beating incredibly fast, you were red and tech was exactly the same".
he declared and Crosshair next to you smirked in amusement. You groan in annoyance and looked ahead to where Tech was talking to Echo.
"He was just telling me something about the Aura Blossom and I got scared when wrecker called us, that's all."
you answered and Hunter looked at you with a skeptical look, he heard how your heartbeat quickened again and saw how your face grew hot but he didn't say anything else about it. Thank the maker.
After you arrived on the marauder, Wrecker made a small fire in front of the ship so that all of you could eat and sit around the fire afterwards to watch the light of the starts disappear behind the horizon. It was almost as beautiful as seeing them rise, but the starlit nightsky afterwards was even more beautiful than anything else.
It feeled like you were all watching the sky for hours, telling old stories and horrible jokes, as if there was no war in other galaxies. Life could be so beautiful sometimes, you just needed the right people to enjoy it.
"Okay everybody, bedtime! Tonight we're all going to bed and not going to the cockpit or anywhere else to sleep."
Hunter said, yawning as he gave Tech a firm look. Wrecker and Crosshair were still sitting outside by the fire when the four of you went into the ship.
Echo just dropped onto his bed and closed his eyes almost immediately, Hunter pulled his shirt over his head and ran shirtless into the fresher, Tech went into the cockpit to turn on the warning system, and you just stood there and waited for Hunter to finish getting ready, so you could go into the fresher and finally change.
you sigh and walk over to Echo's bed to nudge him lightly.
"Take off your armor, or you'll be complaining about the neck pain again tomorrow."
He grumbled, but got up to remove his armor pieces. As you began to help him, Echo smiled down at you gratefully and went to bed with a small 'thank you, good night' afterwards.
"Fresher's free"
Hunter said and walked past you to throw himself on his bunk. He was still topless and in one of his black pants, when the long haired man sensed you looking at him he lazily opened his eyes and grinned at you cheekily.
"See something you like?"
he asked, laughing softly as you gave him a bitter look.
"Ha Ha, did you even change your clothes?"
you asked and he hummed while putting his arm over his eyes. Yeah of course.
You took your sleeping shirt and went into the Fresher to change. You sighed, Maker, it felt so good to take off your bra after wearing it all day.
Your shirt was fortunately big enough to hide your butt behind the fabric, at first you were a little skeptical to use your usual sleeping clothes on the ship, but the boys didn't mind. Why would they?
After you were done you took your things, opened the fresher door and almost ran into Tech who flinched when he suddenly saw you.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you".
you said sheepishly, leaning slightly with your shoulder against the Freshers doorframe.
"It's okay, I should have known you'd go into the Fresher after Hunter".
the brown-haired man said, adjusting his glasses as he eyed you in the dim light.
You smiled warmly at him and pushed off the doorframe to go to your bunk. "Sleep well tech"
He glanced after you as you walked past him and a slight warmth rose up to his ears before he whispered, "Yeah, sleep well (y/n)."
You sigh as you finally snuggle into your bed. Sometimes you missed your own bed, especially since it was much more comfortable than the beds the GAR offered, but you had gotten used to it, so it wasn't that bad after all.
You suddenly remembered how you and Tech almost kissed... Would he really have kissed you if Wrecker hadn't interrupted? You sighed as you imagined it. Were his lips soft? Probably not, he didn't look like he was constantly caring about his lips. No, they probably weren't, he was constantly chewing on them.
Tumblr media
Tech sat on his bunk with one arm behind his head and the datapad in the other hand as he read more about the plants he had spotted today.
Rokna mushroom? he adjusted his goggles as he saw link
Rokna tree fungus or rokna fungus is a deadly, blue fungus that grows on the rokna tree found on the forest moon of Endor. The sharp spikes protruding from this mushroom could cause the death of those who came in contact with them. The highly addictive spice known as Rokna blue is extracted from the Rokna mushroom. definitely sounded interesting.
Sighing, Tech put the datapad on the side of his bed, took off his goggles and rubbed the red marks it left behind. He laid down on his side and closed his eyes, already feeling exhaustion overwhelm his senses...
A few hours had passed when Tech was suddenly awakened by a clatter, he looked tiredly behind him and tried to make out the cause of the noise in the darkness... with high probability it was you.
He sighed as he turned to stand up and was putting on his glasses when you suddenly appeared in front of him. A soft smile tugged at his lips when he looked up at you and caught sight of your hooded eyes.
"Hey (y/n), come on... bedtime, let's get you to bed."
he whispered softly and he was about to get up to lead you gently to your bunk when you laid down next to him and snuggled up to his side.
A choked sound escaped from the brown-haired man's throat as you pressed tightly against him, he tried to gently shake you awake, but to no avail. As he tried to free himself from your grip to sleep in your bunk, as he didn't want you to feel uncomfortable, he noticed how your grip around him tightened and how your head pressed against his bare chest.
He sighed in defeat and took off his goggles to hang them back on the wall and settled back down and gently wrapping one of his arms around your waist to find a comfortable sleeping position, his eyes slipping shut as he did so.
The warmth you radiated under his blanket was pleasant, your head against his chest was soothing and the way you wrapped your arms around him was something he could definitely get used to. It wasn't long before he sank into a deep sleep, lulled by your warmth and presence beside him.
Tumblr media
It was pleasantly warm as you slowly woke up, you sigh softly as you press yourself against the warmth. Why couldn't the marauder's wall always be this warm? A tired yawn sounded above you and the weight on your hips disappeared.
Suddenly you startled, What?
Your eyes snapped open and you saw a confused looking tech staring at you. His hair was all messed up and his slightly squinted eyes hinted that you had scared him awake.
"What are you doing in my bunk?"
you whispered anxiously, looking at him in confusion, he ran his hand over his eyes and flopped back down on his pillow.
"I am not in your bunk, infact you are in mine. You were sleepwalking again during the night and when I tried to lead you to the bunk you laid down next to me and didn't let me go, so i had no choice but to let you sleep in my bed. Well, I could have carried you over to your bunk, but after you held me so tightly it seemed like your consciousness was looking for a sleeping partner, which in that case was me. ".
he answered softly and closed his eyes again, he sighed lightly and pulled the blanket over you again.
"I'm so sorry tech"
you whispered embarrassed and started to push yourself up but he dragged you down and pulled you close to him.
"Shut up and let me go back to sleep"
He whispered and exhaled deeply. But suddenly his eyes snapped open and he looked at you shyly "unless of course you don't want to".
You smile softly at him and turn your back to him, pulling his arm around you so that he would put it back around your waist. He sighs contentedly and presses his nose gently into your hair before inhaling deeply, your scent occupies his senses in the best ways and he couldn't imagine anything better at the moment.
You almost fell back asleep, but you heard Tech huff in annoyance behind you and noticed him trying to turn away from you.
"You okay?"
You asked softly, turning your head slightly to the side to look at him. He blushed slightly as he looked at you and nodded.
"Come back, you're nice and warm"
You pleaded, tugging lightly on his arm. Tech gulped nervously, but settled back down on the mattress, this time with a much bigger gap between you two.
Tech seemed to close his eyes again and you tried the same. but your back started to get cold without his warm body and your body yearned for his warmth, which is why you scooted back a bit and pressed your back against his chest.
The brown-haired man's grip around your hips tightened and a slight mewl escaped him.
"Meshla, please just stay like that".
Oh? Ohhh.
Your eyes widened slightly as you realized why he was so nervous, it was far from the first time you had ever seen one of the guys with a hard-on, but it was the first time it seemed like you were the reason. were you even the reason?
"Tech?"
you whispered softly and he cleared his throat before humming lightly.
"Would you allow me?"
you asked and a soft blush rose to your face you looked in front of you at the bed and saw that Echo was already awake, wreckers bed under yours was empty as well.
"allow wha- Ohh"
he asked confused but you gently grinded your butt against his crotch and he moaned softly.
The brown haired man whispered a soft 'yes' against your neck and started to grind against your butt, you followed his movements and heard him sigh as he pressed his nose into your neck and started to spread soft kisses on it.
His hands moved your hips firmly against his movements and he moaned softly, a warm shiver ran down your spine as he moaned your name and a pleasant warmth began to form between your legs.
"(y/n), please"
he rasped and you turned to him, he pressed his lips directly against yours and engaged you in a passionate kiss, his lips were warm, slightly chapped and moved strongly against yours.
He continued to rub his cock against you and his leg gently drove between your legs to let you gently grind on it.
you moaned softly into the kiss as you felt the pressure of his thigh against your crotch and he took the opportunity to press his tongue through your lips into your mouth to fight with yours for dominance.
His hand gently drove up to your neck to press you tighter against him, groaning into the kiss as you lightly bit his lower lip. His other hand slowly traveled under your shirt up to your breasts and he gently cupped one of them in his hand.
You moaned as you pulled away from the kiss and looked up at him. His eyes were hooded and his pupils were blown wide as his right thumb stroked your lips seductively.
"I want you so bad"
you pleaded, biting lightly on his thumb, he groaned as you ran your tongue over his fingertip.
He straightened up and climbed on top of you, with his arms on the sides of your head, to kiss you again. You sighed into the kiss and your hands went to the hair at the nape of his neck to pull it harshly.
He groaned as an annoyed grumble sounded over his bed. You jumped apart as long legs came into view on the outer side of his bed.
Crosshair jumped off his bunk with a small thud and looked at you both with a snide look. He had just woken up, his eyes still rimmed with sleeping sand and a tired look was in his narrowed eyes.
"It's fucking morning you perverts, you can't even sleep here without being woken up by two fuckers."
"It's not like I'm always walking in on you when you're enjoying yourself"
Tech sneered and Crosshair scoffed as he walks out of the room grumbling
You looked after him with a horrified expression and looked at Tech in shock, who in turn looked at you with an embarrassed grin.
"He'll definitely tell the others."
you muttered and Tech nodded in agreement, well shit.
"Theoretically speaking, if he tells the others, until you and I are done, no one else is going to come in here and interrupt us."
he said reassuringly, grinning at you as you gave him a smug look.
You firmly tug him towards you and press your lips against his while wrapping your legs around his hips and grind his dick against your pelvis.
He groaned when he noticed the wetness through your panties, his hand went down to your underwear and gently pulled them down.
"I bet you taste better than anything I've ever eaten".
he whispered against your lips and ran his finger through your labia, gently picking up wetness, and brought his finger to his mouth.
Your breath caught in your throat as you watched him eagerly lick your cum from his fingers, convinced that you had never seen anything so erotic.
He moved to climb between your legs but you held him by his shoulder.
"Another time, please I need you so much".
He looked up and looked deep into your eyes, you looked heavenly from this perspective. Your still dressed upper body moved with deep breaths, your hooded gaze and your red swollen lips.
Techs cheeks reddened as you sat up and pulled your shirt over your head, your breasts jiggling slightly as you threw your shirt to the side and he smiled in response.
"What, you see something you like?"
you asked, and he cleared his throat.
"Plenty."
the brown-haired man replied, crawling up to you again to engage you in another passionate kiss. His left hand lightly squeezed your left breast and you panted as an electric shock ran down your spine.
Your hand went under the fabric of his pants and grabbed his cock in a gentle grip. He groaned and his hips thrust forward, the brown-haired man's lips parted from yours as he felt the pleasure of your hand movement and his forehead fell on your shoulder.
He gasped as his hips bucked with your motions and you placed gentle kisses on the side of his neck.
"kark, stop please i don't want to cum yet."
he panted and pushed your hand out of his pants. He frantically tried to get out of them and carelessly tossed them aside as he turned his gaze to you again.
you looked up at him with hooded eyes and put your palm to his cheek to kiss him again, your lips parted from his to whisper
"Please tech, fuck me...I have an implant".
He grunted, grabbing his cock to guide it to your hole and smearing your moisture on his member before gently guiding the head in.
You gasp as he slowly pushes in and clasps your hands behind his neck, he puts his forehead against your collarbone and moans softly.
"Maker, you feel divine!"
moaned the brown-haired man and intertwined your left hand with his.
You both gasp as he bottoms out. It felt so intense, you could feel every vein and felt him pulsing lightly inside you.
His grip on your hand tightened gently and he gasped as your insides tightened.
"mhh, please move tech"
Tech drove out lightly and then pushed softly into you. He started with light movements and his rhythm accelerated steadily, his lips enclosed one of your nipples and started to suck gently.
You gently tried to suppress your noises so as not to disturb the others and squeaky breathy moans escaped your throat.
"Please more, you feel so good".
Your head fell back as tech began to lightly nip at your throat in response to your request. His thrusts slowed down a bit, but got harder and the hand that was intertwined with yours went gently down to your clit to run firm circles on it.
A high-pitched moan escaped you and you pressed your lips tightly together to avoid another slip.
Your legs crossed behind Tech's hips to press him closer to you, whereupon he slightly changed your position and lifted your hips a little higher.
The new angle broke your will to suppress your sounds and your eyes rolled into the back of your head as your nails clawed down the brown-haired man's back.
Tech moaned against your mouth as the grasp of your walls tightened, your sounds blurred together and hot breath escaped your mouths.
"Come for me Cyare, please" (beloved)
he spoke breathy against your throat and the rhythm on your clit increased, he bit gently into your throat to leave a mark.
Your insides grew warm and a pleasurable pressure exerted inside your belly, a bond whose knot became tighter and tighter.
tighter and tighter, until it became harder and harder to breathe, white spots appeared in your gaze and your eyes closed as he gently pinched your nipple.
He whispered softly against your neck again and pressed a soft kiss against your forehead afterwards.
It suddenly felt so quiet, like the calm before the storm, and it took you a few seconds to realize how he was taking care of you, from the gentle movements on your clit to the hard thrusts of his cock inside you.
Your gaze slowly turned to the brown-haired man, his hair wildly disheveled and his eyes squeezed tightly shut, his hot breath hitting your neck and his movements faltered as he looked up at you.
you whispered and a loud moan escaped his lips as he heard you speak his native language.
"olaror ti ni ner kar'ta" (come with me my heart)
"osik"
he cursed and his thrusts lost their rhythm, tech rutted into you with firm movements and locked his lips with yours.
Your hand gently went to one of his nipples to stimulate it and he whimpered as the pleasure ran down his spine.
"im cumming, olaror ti ni (y/n)" (come with me (y/n)
he pleaded and the knot inside you exploded as he bit your shoulder.
A long moan escaped you and his whimpering followed as he came inside you. Tech's cum was warm and a gentle pressure pressed against your Cervix.
"Gar cuyir bid jate, yaiyai'yc ni bid pirusti" (you did so good, satisfied me so well)
you praised him gently and he shuddered as your hand raked through his hair.
He sat up slightly to take one of his (clean) cleaning cloths to wipe you and his cock and leaned slightly to the floor to hand you your clothes while he put on his pants.
Afterwards he settled back on top of you and gently pulled the blanket over both of you to lay his head on your chest.
He opened his mouth to say something but you interrupted him.
"Sleep ner Kar'ta, we'll talk later". (My heart)
He closed his mouth and closed his eyes as you gently massaged his scalp. His arms hugged you as far as he could and a soft smile was on his lips as he yawned.
Your movements faltered as your eyes slowly closed and you also fell asleep.
Tumblr media
Hours must have passed when you next opened your eyes, the chrono clock showed 16:47 hours and your eyes widened as you realized how long you must have slept.
Tech was no longer on you, but you could hear light tinkering outside. You got up to put on your clothes and then went into the fresher to freshen up.
Fortunately, your sweater had a collar, because the mark Tech had left behind was clearly visible. Still, you cursed and rubbed at it
"idiot"
you strolled into the cockpit of the marauder and directly a sarcastic whistling sounded.
"Look who has awakened from her beauty sleep!"
the marksman's voice teased, and he chuckled as you gave him a somber look.
"You probably should have slept longer."
you countered and he grumbled under his breath as you gently pushed against his shoulder to sit down on a chair.
"No crosshair, gar ganar at tionir kaysh at olaror ti gar" (you have to ask her to come with you)
the Sargent quipped and laughed as you kicked his leg.
"I could have slept longer if my brother and his girlfriend hadn't had sex in the bed below me."
Crosshair replied, chuckling and crossing his arms behind his head as he leaned back.
You were about to answer, but a voice interrupted you.
"That's your problem Crosshair, experiencing what you've already done yourself is apparently not so nice after all?"
Tech looked at his datapad as he spoke to his brother and walked forward to the console. Hunter looked at you with a grin and shrugged his shoulders as if to say that Tech was right.
"Oh shut up."

Imagine being unable to sleep, upset by Echo's departure, and turning to Tech for comfort
The ship was stuffy. Your mind was full. The future was uncertain. It was the perfect mixture of reasons to be restless.
You'd removed the top half of your blacks and tied it around your waist, putting on a tank top in hopes of cooling down. Sitting on the lowered ramp of The Marauder, you stared into the misty night sky, feeling trapped by the stale silence. Your eyes began to sting, emotions starting to overcome you. How could so much have changed so quickly?
The sound of footsteps pulled you from your troubled thoughts, and you didn't have to turn around to know who approached. The rapid tapping of gloved fingers on a datapad was enough for you to recognize him.
"You are unable to sleep," Tech says.
It wasn't a question. He'd just stated it as a fact, as he did with most things.
"Not really," you answer, quickly wiping at your eyes.
"I suspect there is a reason," he begins, sitting down beside you, "Would it ease your mind if you shared your concerns with me?"
Your heart skipped at the prospect, and at how near he was.
"I'll be alright, really," you hesitate, trying to compose yourself.
"The tension in your voice and your constrained body language suggests otherwise," he replies, putting away his datapad.
You can't help but chuckle, "Nothing gets past you, does it?"
"Not really," he parrots your words. He removes his helmet and puts it aside. You're surprised to see he's smiling ever-so-slightly.
You sigh, trying put your many thoughts into words. "We've all lost so much. After all our fighting and all our running, sometimes I've wondered what it was all for. But I thought as long as we stayed together, things would be alright. We would figure it out because together we had hope. Now, I'm afraid that we've lost it."
Tech pushes up his goggles before responding.
"I know it may seem that way, but Echo did not leave because he had no hope," he offers, "He believes that there are better ways apart from this squad that he can help preserve hope, and if he is successful, pass it on to others."
"I thought we were already doing that," you reply, shaking your head, "I know we have to be careful, especially for Omega's sake, and we can't fight The Empire the same way others can, but I thought we were making some kind of difference."
"Echo's departure does not necessarily signify failure in our pursuits."
"But aren't we stronger together than apart?" you ask, looking to him.
Tech blinks slowly, visibly weighing your question. Surely he is bothered by all this too?
"Theoretically, yes. But our objections cannot change what has happened," he admits.
Your gaze falls back to your boots, shame setting in. How selfish you must sound. "You're right. I don't think less of Echo. Truly I don't," you say, holding your arms, "I just don't want to lose this squad, and I really don't want to lose..."
You were desperate to say it, but the word caught in your throat. Tears threaten to return. This is not how it was supposed to go. Squeezing your eyes shut, you bow your head, hoping he wouldn't see your entire façade crumbling.
You nearly jump as you feel his hand gently clasp your shoulder. You look up to see his soft brown eyes, full of warmth and understanding.
"I do not have plans to go any place where you cannot also be," he affirms, "And I intend to never make such plans."
A tear slips down your cheek as you choke back a sob. Whatever was left of your composure, he'd just destroyed it, and somehow it was the push you needed.
You lean over to rest your head on his chest. You hold your breath as you feel him tense up at the contact. Fear washes over you that you've gone too far, and you're about to sit up, but then he carefully wraps his arm around you, holding you close.
You purse your lips, trying not to grin. How long you had waited for this moment. Heart racing, you close your eyes and wish for time to stop. So many words had passed between you over the months, but now you could barely speak.
"Tech?" you breathe.
"Yes?"
"I never want to make those kinds of plans either," you say, relaxing into him more.
"It's settled then," he confirms, proceeding to rest his chin upon the top of your head.
It was settled. You knew with absolute certainty that this is where you wanted to be. You were stronger together, and no matter what became of the galaxy, together you and Tech would stay.

Tech x Jedi reader x ?
Unrequited love is a real Bantha
Angst - Fluff
Pt 5 of You Drew Stars
It’s been two weeks since Tech and I had that… Fight. We’ve never fought like that before and now… Now the tension between us has only grown stronger.
It didn’t help that my confidence is gone or that my partner in crime was currently on a mission. It was by poor timing by Sid that Hunter had to leave the night of the fight to go do a job. Now I was left to move past my feelings without the support of my best friend.
So I did what I was trained to do.
Ignore my problems until they eventually disappear.
To say that I was avoiding Tech like the plague was an understatement and yet he seemed to be everywhere all the time.
Could the force not give me a break?
I was mindlessly sorting through supplies with Echo on the loading dock when I heard Tech’s footsteps before I saw him. A tight feeling filling my chest as anger tried to claw it’s way up my throat.
“Hello, I need to… well…” His voice trailed off as he adjusted his goggles.
“What is it Tech?” I muttered with spite.
He rolled his eyes with a huff, “I need to check the panel behind you.”
“Do it later.” I replied, looking back to the box of wires I was sorting through, “We were here first and what were doing is pretty important.”
Tech raised an eyebrow, “You’re untangling wires.”
“Wires that would save us all if the ship short circuits.” I seethed.
Echo glanced between the two of us with caution as he slowly put down an extra air duct panel.
“Maybe we should take a break General.” Echo said trying to keep the tension from rising.
“No.” I disagreed with him immediately, a childish tone in my voice as I crossed my arms, “We were here first.”
Tech mimicked my movement, crossing his arms as well, “You’ve been here all morning, it’s only logical that you step aside and allow me to work.”
I glared at him as I pointed towards the way he came, “No way brown eyes.” I spat his beloved nickname with spite, “Go be a terrible friend to someone else.”
I saw the way his shoulders deflated and for a moment I wondered if I went to far… That is until he opened that mouth of his.
“I won’t ignore this hostility General. You need to move past our argument, you’re being childish.” Tech motioned towards my stance.
Me childish?
I rolled my eyes at his peace keeping tactics, “Piss off Tech.”
“Yeah! Piss off!” Omega called from the bottom of the ramp with Wrecker in tow.
“Omega wait no, don’t say that.” I said quickly as I lightly scolded her.
Tech chose not to add anything more to conversation. I heard his steps fade as he left. Wrecker’s laughter boomed through the hall as he followed his brother, “Nice going General, now she’s going to be saying that all week!” He called as Omega skipped ahead of him.
I shook my head with a sigh, “Hunter is going to kill me.”
“Probably.” Echo teased to try and lighten the mood.
Nothing seemed to make sense anymore.
The only thing I could hear ever other day was Phee giggling through the ship as she told the group about her latest adventure and Tech’s warm voice as he spoke gently to her. A warmth that I haven’t heard from him in weeks.
It use to be us talking late into the night and now… Now it’s her.
“You’re too smart brown eyes.” Phee said.
I didn’t mean to, but my eyes seemed to flicker to them and that was when I saw her planting a kiss on his lips. It brought me back to the night of my failed attempt at a proper date, my stomach suddenly churning at the sight.
The loving display had me pushing the food around my plate, no longer hungry or in any kind of good mood.
“Here Wrecker.” I passed my plate to him before getting up to leave.
“Brown eyes.” I muttered sarcastically as I entered my small room, “Of course they have to ruin any ounce of peace I have in this ship.”
I couldn’t help as I paced about my room. How long before they move past the stages of puppy love and into marriage? Would he leave with her or worse… Would they stay here?
Would I be forced out to make room? Maybe leaving isn’t such a bad idea… Maybe Rex could use a hand?
My thoughts muffled the footsteps approaching my room and the swoosh of my door opening.
“You haven’t been finishing your meals lately.” Tech’s voice stated behind me.
I tensed not realizing that he followed me.
“Why do you care?” I asked without looking back.
I glanced around the room to see if I could find anything that I could use as an excuse as to why I’m in here. I spotted the laundry that I had yet to put away and decided to go with that.
“Why would I not?” He stated promptly.
I continued with my task, grabbing the small basket filled with Omega and my clothes. I placed the basket on my bed and began to fold.
“You’re not acting like yourself.” He said after a while, “Our dynamic has shifted and I don’t understand… For that I apologize.”
I froze, the red long sleeve in my hand feeling like a weight of bricks and yet he continued.
“I would like for things to… Go back to how they were before our argument.” He continued, a small gentleness laying in his voice.
The way he was pleading for our friendship had me gripping the shirt tighter then I should.
“I need time, Tech.” I spoke softly, defeat filtering in my voice.
Things will never change between us will it?
“Alright.” He conceded with a nod, “Sleep well General.”
But with time, each day I reverted more and more back to my room. The only safe haven I have had away from the new couple… Away from Tech.
Another week passed and my feelings have yet to fade… Maybe in someway it has, but not enough to ease my short temper. I knew deep down that this feeling was only heightened because I am a Jedi, but that thought didn’t ease the pain of a first love any less.
Who needs him anyway? I thought angrily, but my anger slowly morphed into longing.
I do…
“Come on General. I think it’s time for you to get out of bed.” Echo’s voice had me throwing Tooka in his direction, using the force to hit him in the face.
I was happy in that Wrecker lent me Tooka in that moment because Echo’s annoyance made it worth it. He huffed as he put the doll on a shelf.
“I like my routine.” I muttered still facing the wall of my bunk.
“Your routine consists of sleeping all day and doing night watch. You need to get back to your old routine.” Echo insisted.
“He didn’t even think it was a real date.” It was quiet as my heart ached, “It’s clear to me now that he’s never even thought about me as someone who could be more than just a friend… His General.” I spat, I was really beginning to hate that word.
“I can’t… I don’t know how to fix that.” Echo leaned against my bunk, “I don’t know how to get things back to the way they were, but I do know that the team needs you. Omega needs you.”
That one name had me slowly getting out of bed and sitting up. I shook my head as if it would get rid of the heartbreak.
“Alright.” Was all I answered.
I could see the small grin forming on his face, “I’ll leave you to freshen up. Wrecker, Omega and I will be waiting outside to spar.”
It felt like years since I washed my hair though I used the refresher a couple days ago. In some ways it was nice to get ready and even though I’m hurting, I missed my little family more.
I didn’t know if I should be relieved or hurt that Tech wasn’t here as I made my way through the ship and outside. Most likely with Phee.
“You’re up!” Omega cried out excitedly as she bounded towards me.
I barely kept her from knocking us both over as her arms wrapped around my waist in a hug.
“I’m sorry I haven’t been myself lately, but that’s going to change. I promise.” I said as I wrapped my arms around her.
She pulled away to grab my hand and drag me to her brothers, “You have nothing to be sorry about. We’re just glad your here with us now. Oh! By the way, Echo and I saw Indul while we were at the market yesterday. He asked how you and I were doing.”
“He did? What did you say?” I wondered.
“I said you weren’t feeling well. He told me when you’re feeling better to have us stop by Sol for some of those little pastry cakes.” She smiled.
“That’s nice of him, I think he’d make a good friend.” I nodded with a smile of my own, “How about this weekend, you and I stop by there yeah? We’ll have another girls day.”
“Yes!” Omega cheered.
The day slowly melted into old routines and laughs. I spent my time sparring against Echo who took it very seriously while Omega and Wrecker were being complete goofballs to our left.
“You are getting better Arc Trooper.” I complimented Echo as he used his strength to unbalance me, “I dare say even better than your days in the 501st. Rex will be proud.” I nodded.
“Thank you, General.” His smile was warm as he remembered the good old days and how far he’s come.
“When do you think Rex is going to come to visit us?” Omega asked as she swung from Wrecker’s arm.
“I think it will be soon.” I answered, “If he has time that is.”
“I hope it’s for a friendly visit and no work.” Wrecker commented.
“Have you met the captain? He’s all work. I remember the time my master and I teamed up with Master Skywalker and the 501st captain. Rex would barely even blink, straight as a board.” I joked as we all broke into a laugh.
“What’s got you all laughing?” A voice hummed from behind me.
I felt myself recoil at the approaching couple. How did I not sense them? I thought as I took a few steps towards Echo. He seemed to get the message and quickly stepped in front of me.
“Just reminiscing on some old memories.” Echo replied nonchalantly.
“Oh! That’s nice, memories can be a good thing to hold onto.” Phee answered.
“What brings you here?” Wrecker asked as Omega dropped from his arm to run over to me.
“I have some time off so brown eyes brought me here to show me what he’s been working on.” She replied, “We’re going to compare notes and try to improve his ship.”
I couldn’t help my darkening gaze to the tall clone at the mention of something we used to do together was now being shared by them.
“That use to be our thing.” I muttered, my glare never leaving his, “So much for back to the way things were before.” I scoffed.
His gaze didn’t back down from mine as if he were itching for a fight.
“I never knew it was our thing to begin with.” Tech stated with ease.
“Huh…” My voice trailed off, a defeated lilt to it.
It seems talking to him nowadays only ended up in this defeated feeling laying heavily on my chest.
“What?” He continued.
I had to bite my tongue before I cursed Omega’s brother in front of her. I chose to glare instead, but it seems that Tech always has to have the last word.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” He asked with scrutiny.
“I can look at you however I want.” I rolled my eyes, “We’re supposed friends right?”
“What did I do this time, General?” He sighed.
“Breath.” I crossed my arms.
“Well breathing is inevitable if I wish to live.” Tech stated it like it was the most obvious thing in the world, “You’ve already ignored me for a week. You said you needed time and I gave it to you. What more do you want from me?”
“What more do I want from you?” I raised my voice as I took a step towards him, “Are you kidding me right now? You just told me that our thing was never our thing to begin with. We’re supposed to be friends and that’s how you chose to spend your time when I asked for some time in return. To have a new person to compare notes with?”
His mouth opened to speak, but the words never came as Omega stepped between us.
“I have something to show you.” Omega took my hand to lead me into the small woods and away from the heated conversation that was about to explode out of preparation.
“Have fun then.” Echo said to Tech with a concerned nod, “Wrecker and I are going to continued sparring.”
I didn’t hear the rest of the conversation the further we walked.
“What do you want to show me?” I wondered.
“It’s a surprise, but I think you’ll like it.” She grinned, “This place is magical.”
It wasn’t too long before we were breaking into a small opening where a stream of water fell over some rocks into a bright blue pond.
“Omega! This is amazing! How did you find this place?” I asked in awe.
“Hunter found it for me when I told him that I wanted to see what a waterfall looked like. It’s not as big as Echo has described, but it’s still amazing.” She explained as she padded into the water.
I followed her a gave a little splash in her direction to which she squeezed with laughter and this began our water fight. By the time we were finished wading through the water, we sat side by side on the moss near the pond.
“What Tech said the other day… I’m sorry.” Omega said after a while of peaceful silence, “I thought maybe he would realize that he did like you, but I was wrong.”
“You have nothing to be sorry about, those words were shared between he and I.” I explained, “Sadly, not every romance is like a holo movie.”
“It should be.” Omega muttered, causing me to laugh.
“My master once told me that miscommunication with unrequited feelings is normal. I can’t be fault him if he doesn’t feel the same way.” I said.
My own words seemed to slap me in the face as my eyes widened. I can’t fault him if he doesn’t feel the same way. In some odd sense I felt a weight being lifted off my chest as I began to laugh.
“What’s so funny?” Omega laughed along with me.
“Love is such a silly feeling.” I wiped the tears from my eyes, “But I feel better now thanks to you Omega.”
“Thanks to me?” She asked.
“Yes.” I said as I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her into a hug.
“You will find someone.” Omega nodded to herself.
“Thank you sweetheart.” I kissed the top of her head.
“I was wondering where you two ran off to.” Hunter said as he appeared from the tree line.
“You’re back!” Omega said excitedly as she quickly pulled away from me to give her brother a hug.
“Welcome home Hunter.” I greeted him with a smile, “Hope you didn’t miss us too much.”
“You two? Always. My brothers on the other hand… Now that’s a different story.” Hunter joked as we laughed.
Hunter settled himself beside me as Omega ran back into the water.
“How have you been?” Hunter asked, his voice much lower than before.
“I’m better.” I smiled softly.
“I saw Phee back at the ship when I arrived earlier.” Hunter mentioned.
I played with the blades of grass flowing in the breeze, “I’ll admit that I haven’t been the best of company to anyone since you left, but I want to move forward with my life.”
His eyes softened, “I’m happy to hear that.”
“Yes, though every time I hear her call him brown eyes, I want to crush the ship in my hands.” I chuckled.
“I ask this because I know you can, but please don’t.” Hunter said lightening the mood as he admired her laugh.
“I won’t I promise.” I held my link out towards him.
He returned the deal as we sealed the small promise.
A calm settled over the two of us as we watched Omega chase a fish in the pond.
“Domů.” I said softly.
“What?” Hunter asked, his gaze flickering to my form.
“If I were to give a nickname it would be Domů.” I answered.
“What does that mean?” He wondered, eyebrows furrowing a bit in curiosity.
I tilted my head up, noticing the way some strands of hair seemed to blow into his face from the breeze.
“My master took us to a planet known for their beautiful culture and landscape. The people their were kind and wonderful… They used this word sacredly, maybe I will tell you one day.” I grinned as I watched his lips form into a pout.
It was then that Omega settled herself in between us, a laugh settling in her bones as she took a rest from her chase.
“I almost got him!” She said excitedly.
I pulled in for a hug, “I saw! I’m sure you will catch him next time!”
“Of course I will! I’m the best!” She boasted and i couldn’t help, but laugh.
“Oh? Someone’s getting a bit cocky, you know that is not the Jedi way. I think it’s time for…”
“No no no no!” She squealed trying to get up, but I held her in a tight hug as I began to tickle her, “I’m sorry!”
“Too late~!” I grinned.
“No!! Hunter save me!” She screamed as she laughed.
Suddenly I was grabbed, pulled towards Hunter’s side, tickling me as Omega escaped.
“Hey! You’re suppose to be my best friend!” I cried out in a laugh as he tickled my sides.
“Sorry, you know I can’t say no to her. Not even for you.” He whispered in my ear as he stopped tickling me.
“Traitor.” I stuck my tongue at him.
“Oh don’t act like you wouldn’t do the same.” He rolled his eyes teasingly as we settled back into our spots.
I looked up at Omega who was smiling at the two of us, “I would.” I said almost immediately.
She fell back on the ground between us, “Hunter can you tell us about your adventure!”
“Well…” He hummed and the two of us listened who heartedly as he shared his adventure trading cargo for Sid.
“So he tried to kill you for a bunch of transmission scraps?” I asked in disbelief.
“He didn’t know when to back down until I put my knife to his throat. The rest of the mission was successful though.”
Omega and I fell back to the moss with a laugh. I took my time to admire the sky and trees above us, grateful that a place like this could be here. I was also grateful to my family sitting beside me and the way Omega talked excitedly to her brother about what she’d been up too. It almost looked like a father who’s been away for a while and a daughter happy that he’s home.
I couldn’t help the fluttering of my eyes as my breathing mellowed out and I was finally able to get some sleep that I’ve been missing these past couple of weeks.
“She must be really tired huh?” Omega asked.
“She’s been dealing with a lot of stress. Heartbreaks are never easy.” Hunter answered as he looked down at his best friend.
“I hope I never have to go through a heartbreak.” Omega nodded at her answer.
“You will, but just like her you are strong enough to overcome it and move forward.” Hunter replied as he stood up then leaned down to pick his best friend up.
Omega watched the gentle interaction with curious eyes. She wasn’t too certain yet, but maybe she was right about there possibly being something between Hunter and their Jedi.
Omega nodded as she quickly got to her feet as well, “Yeah, let’s go!”
The trek back to the ship was calm, as the cool breeze of the evening air began to set in. He could hear his and Omega’s footsteps as the descend the ramp and into the Marauder. He could hear Wrecker’s snores and Echo humming a song in the refresher. He could hear Omega call out Goodnight as she descended the ladder to her room. He could hear the lieutenants soft breathing as she barely woke up.
Without opening her eyes she mumbled, “Take me to bed Domů.” Before finally succumbing to sleep once again as he carried her to her bunk.
But most of all he could hear the sharp intake of Tech’s breath as he watched him head to their General’s bunk.
“What are you doing?” Tech asked with a slight sharpness fo his voice.
“I’m putting her to bed.” Hunter answered quietly as he set her in her bunk.
He made sure to tuck her with the soft blanket she recently bought, a soft smile creeping onto his face as he watched her snuggle into it.
He broke out of his daze when he heard Tech’s heartbeat pick up slightly. Standing up straight, Hunter made his way out of the room and towards the front of the ship knowing that Tech would follow.
They both had something important they needed to discuss anyways.
“Why did she call you that?” Tech stated immediately.
It was obvious to Hunter that Tech knew exactly what that word meant and couldn’t have, but feel a small bit of pride swell in his chest. But Hunter also knew that his brother wasn’t able to process emotions the same way as the rest of them. He knew that for him to understand he would have to explain to him in the only way he knew.
“Sit down Tech.” Hunter motioned to the pilot chair as he took a seat in the co pilot chair.
Tech reluctantly sat down, his brows furrowed as he tried to understand what was happening.
“Tech. You are my brother and I would die for you, but sometimes you can be so dense.” Hunter sighed.
“I don’t understand? I am fully capable of-” Tech began, but was silenced by his brothers next words.
“The General had romantic feelings for you.” Hunter stated.
Tech’s brow furrowed, “I don’t…”
“Out of everyone in the galaxy, she fell for You Tech.” Hunter explained, “She asked you on that date because she had feelings for you and you rejected her, chose someone else, insulted her, and has ignored her for the better part of less than three weeks. That’s almost a month Tech.”
“Why would the General have feelings for me? That is quite impossible.” Tech adjusted his goggles, “She is worth more to the galaxy than I ever will be. I’ve never even thought about her in any way other than being friends, of her being a leader for our squad through the war… I…” Tech sighed and he leaned forward and placed his elbows on his knees, face in the palms of his hands.
“I’ve heard others at Sid’s bar ask each other on lunch dates since we’ve been here, I just assumed she meant the same thing…” Tech groaned frustratedly, “That’s why she’s been distant. I insulted our general and I hurt her feelings.”
Hunter leaned back into his seat with his arms crossed, “What are you going to do about it?”
“I’m going to-” Tech began to answer, but was cut off by Echo.
“Hey boys, I just received an incoming comm from Rex.” Echo spoke looking at his transmitter as he entered the room.
When Echo looked up he immediately notice the tension in the room, “Uh… Did I interrupt something?” He asked with a confused expression.
“No.” Hunter shook his head as he placed a hand on Tech’s shoulder, “I know you mean well Tech and deep down she knows that too, but you have some thinking to do.” He spoke gently before motioning for Echo to continue, “What does Rex need?”
“He needs our help.” Echo stated and showed the coordinates Rex sent them, “I swear the General always knows when someone is about to show up.”
“She’s a Jedi.” Tech stated, “Of course she has a sense for these things.”
“Looks like we’ve got ourselves a mission boys.” Hunter stated.

A Promise Kept

A Tech x reader one shot where everything is fine! We're all fine!
WC: 5.2k
CW: Canon typical violence, descriptions of injuries, drug usage, blissful ignorance of physics and canon deviation. Angst, hurt comfort, fluff, all the good stuff
Summary: What am I if not a clone lover. A fix-it fic made for my irl bestie @scoobydoobydaisy, consider this your late birthday present. Thinking of all my fellow Tech girls who want to live in the world where he’s ok. Welcome! You’ve made it! This is my first time writing for tbb and for Tech, so I’m still working out the kinks, but I’m happy with it. Also if anyone tries to say anything about the survivability of that fall I’m ignoring it let me live in delusion.
(also i live in the reality where this fanart by papanowo is how Tech’s hair looks always because I swear to god I saw this and it changed my life.)
((also I prommy I'm working on the new chapter of BCS, I accidentally got inspired to write chapter 14 so I did that instead oopsie, but if it's any consolation, we've got like 9 more chapters at least of that to go!))
The quiet was what consumed you at first, the lack of chatter and softer clinking of glasses. Then it was the smells, in a broad sense the defining scent of Mantell Mix but, in a more intimate way it was the smell of the grease after he would repair the Marauder, or the fresh, clean scent of his skin in the rare moments you would lean past him when collecting the Batch’s glassware at the bar. No, when the Batch left Cid’s it was him being gone that consumed you, that Tech, your Tech in every way but reality, had left with his team in pursuit of something better and left you behind. You wondered often if they thought of you, if he thought of you, if he regretted leaving you here to clean up their mess. I would never leave him, you thought to yourself in those weeks, sweeping up glass or dealing with one of Cid’s moods. You couldn’t really blame them, you’d been at this bar long before the Batch showed up, and evidently you’d be here long after.
It’s why you’re surprised by a ping on your personal comm, tucked dutifully in the pocket of your apron, while you’re serving a drink to a tired looking Togruta. The bar isn’t packed, it never is, and you pat the pocket of your apron before looking at Cid, “I’m going to smoke, I’ll be back.”
The Trandoshan waved you off immediately, knowing full well about your recent cigarra habit, something you had attributed to the stress of the last few weeks. You slipped out the back entrance, standing in the dimly lit back alley behind the bar, leaning closer to your comm and also fumbling with the carton of cigarras, searching equally hard for your lighter. The familiar sound of the light coaxed your caller out of his silence, breaking the quiet with a long sigh.
“I thought I had adequately warned you about the dangers and symptoms of smoking.” Tech murmurs through the line, and if you squint in your mind you can practically see the disappointment on his face.
“I thought I told you not to go too far.”
“Ah. Yes. To be fair, I had assumed we were speaking in metaphor.”
You flick the ash off the end before bringing it back to your mouth to breathe. “I waited for you, you know.”
“You didn’t have to-”
“No, I know I didn’t. I wanted to. I wanted to believe you wouldn’t leave me without saying goodbye.”
“At the time I didn’t know it was goodbye, otherwise I would’ve left so few things unsaid.” There’s a clatter in the background of his message that makes your heart jump. The sound of things being loaded onto a ship, a ramp being raised. Hunter’s voice yelling, mild panic.
“You’re going somewhere?”
He takes a beat to answer, you can hear Wrecker get Omega settled and the sound of movement. He’s walking, you gather, from the way the sound rustles through the comm. Suddenly it’s clearer, and you only hear his voice and the distant sound of waves crashing. “I am.”
“So that's why you called? To not leave things unsaid?”
“I think, if I have deciphered you correctly, you would like it here. You’d fit in, I think”
“So you think you know me now?”
“I think you and I both know that I do. Just as well as you know me.” There’s that beat again, though this one rings of uncertainty. “Unless I misinterpreted something.”
“You haven’t” your words rush out in a whisper, cigarra nearly finished. “Misinterpreted I mean. You never have.”
“I- I have some things, I want you to know-” Then it's Wrecker, you can tell by the wait of the step over the comm, and he’s calling for Tech and the engines of the Marauder are firing. “We were going to come back for you. I was going to come back for you. That has always been my plan.”
“Tech, why does this sound like goodbye?”
“I was always going to come back for you.”
The line ends with a definitive click, and a moment later the last ash is on the sidewalk and your break is over. You tuck the com and the pack back into your apron, swipe at a few stray tears you hadn’t realized had slipped down your cheek, then head back into the bar, the only remnant of your confession the butt of a cigarra melting in a puddle out back.
* * *
“They’re coming back.” Cid practically spits as she walks by you while you clean glasses. “They walk out on me and now this? They just want to come back? I don’t think so.”
There’s a pit in your stomach now, a feeling of guilt and panic. Cid knows you were close with the team, but does she know how close? Are they actually coming back, and putting themselves in danger over you? “Did they say why?”
“No. It was bandana who called. Sounded down. Someone’s gotta be hurt, no reason they’d be coming back otherwise.”
The pit grows, and you instinctively feel for where your comm is. You hadn’t missed a call, you’re sure of it. Your mind spins with the possibilities. Why was Tech not the one to call? You set the glass down as carefully as you can manage and turn to face Cid. “What are you going to do?”
She looks at the ground before rubbing the back of her neck. “Look, kid, we’ve been in a tight spot these past few months with them being here. You know this, I know this.” She moves to grab your hand, “You don’t do all that well with the empire, I know. Maybe just, go home now. Before it gets worse here, ok?”
Your eyes widen with the implication of her words and you nod before turning to walk out the door, grabbing your bag from the shelf by the bar and careful to be out of the door frame before making a sprint towards the docking bay, hoping to get to them before they land. You’re calling Tech and you’re met with nothing but static, at least reassuring you that that is why he hasn’t called to alert you. “Tech, Tech if you can hear me, it’s a trap, don’t come to Cid’s, I’m going to go to the Marauder. I’m going to see you soon, ok?”
Wrecker is the first to disembark, and he nearly runs you over at the speed he walks off the ship. “Wreck, hey, it's me, you can’t go to Cid’s.” You sputter out as fast as possible before he looks down at you, eyes wide and crazed.
Hunter hears you and bolts out, walking towards you as Wrecker backs away slowly, shaking his head. “I can’t. Hunter I can’t you have to tell her.”
You look at the tattooed clone blinking wildly, “You, you’re not listening to me. You can’t go to Cid’s something is wrong.”
“I need to talk to you.”
“Clearly we need to talk Hunter because I still haven’t forgiven you all for abandoning me here, but you have to listen to me, you can’t go-”
“It’s Tech.”
The words have their desired effect of turning everything in your mind into stone as you register Echo quietly shifting to do repairs on the outside of the Marauder and Omega’s tear streaked fast as she all but flies past you to catch up with Wrecker. “What do you mean?”
“He- he’s gone, he,” he runs a hand through his hair before bringing it to the bridge of his nose and shaking his head, “Kriffing Tech said he had it figured out, and he sacrificed himself for us, for the squad.” He looks back at Echo, whose shoulders are tight as he works on Tech’s ship. “He wanted to make sure you were cared for, I know you’ve got a ship and I could’ve sent coordinates but Wrecker insisted we land. And I thought I should tell you in person.” He puts an arm on your shoulder and guides you towards the bay he knows your ship is in, away from Echo and through the winding corridors of the docks.
You’re moving, but you really aren’t. You’re numb to it all, the situation, the words. The reality of this hasn’t even begun to set in yet. Hunter knows, he always knows, and remains quiet until you get to your ship, a small but fast freighter from your days as a runner off of Corellia. “Why did you let him?”
“He made his choice, and we have to use it to secure our future.”
“Did you… did you find him? Can I say goodbye?”
Hunter runs a hand through his hair, “we didn’t exactly have time to go back for him.”
“So you left him?” You don’t hide the anger, the bitterness in your voice that rises like bile as you look to glare at your friend. “He could be alive.”
“He fell hundreds of feet and was followed by a railcar. I figured I would spare you the image because I don’t know how I’m supposed to sleep now having seen it.” He sighs as you tense and your eyes go wide. “I’m sorry. We did everything we could.”
You nod, tears now actively spilling over as you blink and shake your head. “You have to tell me what system you were on.”
“I am not letting you do something stupid, do not make me disrespect his wish like that.”
“Hunter, I have to try.”
“There is nothing you can do.”
“Do not look at me and tell me there is nothing I can do until I am lying dead at your feet,” you nearly spit at him, tears now burning down your cheeks as he groans, “he promised me he would always come back for me, I am not going to deny him the same thing.”
He looks back at Echo working on the ship and chews on his lip, debating in his mind how many deaths he wants on his hands. “If I give you these coordinates, you need to promise to not engage with any of the imperials.”
“Unless they shoot me first.”
“Unless they shoot you first. You need to fly low, and make sure your cloaking is on at all times.” He takes the datapad out of your bag and punches in three sets of numbers. “The first is the system coordinates, the second is the crash site. You cannot stay there long, most of the imperials have probably fled after the attack-”
“Attack?”
“I’ll explain later,” he huffs. “The third is the rendezvous point. Whatever the outcome, meet us there, if you want. He’s right, we shouldn’t have left you. You’re a part of this squad.” He grabs your shoulder and gives it a squeeze before walking towards the direction of Echo. “I get why he loves you, you’re both so stubborn.”
You leave in a hurry, running onto your ship with just your bag and punching in the coordinates. You leave in such a hurry, in fact, that you don’t think until it’s too late that you’ve neglected to remind Hunter of the reason you ran to them in the first place.
* * *
It’s this supposed love that has you speaking into your comm while you travel through hyperspace. You’re greeted by nothing other than static, but you talk. You tell him stories, you tell him about your day. You talk about the regulars at Cid’s, about the first time you smoked. You tell him about your parents, about your home planet, how you got to Corellia. “I want you to know everything about me the way that you know everything about everything. And I think I was afraid to tell you everything because not everything is good. But I think that’s ok. And I promise, when I find you, I’ll give you everything, all of me. The good and the bad,” you sniff, “even if I smell like fumes and my lungs give out because I have a bad habit” you laugh into the comm. “I have more to say, but I think I’d rather tell you when I get there.”
Eriadu is bitterly cold and dotted with peaks of mountains stretching up and above the cloud line. Getting past the security team isn’t difficult, you can tell they’re scrambling to recover from the attack and both expecting support and medic ships, so it doesn’t take much to convince them that you’re a dispatched supplies shuttle. You fly low enough to stay out of their radar, and scour the mountain tops and trees for signs of the wreckage as you get closer to the coordinates Hunter provided. There’s a spot between the trees for you to tuck your ship, and you grab the warmest jacket you have onboard, your blaster, and your vibroblade before setting out on foot.
The air feels still, but when you pause you can hear the sounds of troopers in the distance and shuttles overheard. Nothing entirely threatening, but a bitter reminder of why you’re here in the first place. You’ve taken to talking to Tech again, hoping to hear the buzz of your voice back as you walk through this forest in the vague destination of his demise. “I’ve stopped crying,” you murmur into your comm, twigs crunching between your boots, grateful to past you for opting out of the heeled shoes you normally wear on a busy night at the bar. “I just have decided to believe that you’re here, and I’m going to find you. And I figured you’d say something about the waste of water and the threat of dehydration.” You push past the brush and step over some rocks as you begin to hit a more rocky terrain. “It’s really cold here, you know. I don’t really like the cold. Or rocks. You’re lucky I enjoy your company-”
“Freeze!” The sound of a modulated voice stops you in your tracks, and you turn slowly with your hands in the air, facing a singular trooper with his blaster aimed at your torso. “Who are you? What are you doing here?” He uses his blaster to gesture to the comm in your hand, “Who are you talking to?”
“I’m sorry, I’m lost, our ship wrecked and I’ve been wandering these woods since yesterday, I’m trying to find my husband.” You shake your hand, trying to indicate the comm. The body language of the trooper shifts, you can tell he’s trying to decide if he’s going to believe you, so you bring the tears you’ve been fighting back up. “Please, please I need help, we have a daughter, she’s off-world with her uncle. We need to get home to her, please I can’t find my husband.”
He shifts again, and moves to lower his blaster and walks towards you, “Okay, ma’am, I don’t know how you crashed here, but this is imperial property, and it’s highly classified, I’ll need to take you in for questioning.” He steps close to you now, too close, and he underestimates you.
You sigh in mock appreciation while you pull the vibroblade off your hip, pushing it into the exposed portion between the chestplate and pauldron of his shoulder. He yelps and drops the blaster, and you pull your own out from the holster, holding it up to his head. “I’m very appreciative for your help. Now, let’s not make any sudden movements, shall we?” The trooper musters a pained nod as you back away, picking up the dropped blaster and tucking it on your belt. “I need info on a crash site, and I need you to tell me where it is.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, you’re the one that crashed here.”
You’re being cruel now and you hate it, but your feelings for Tech outweigh any feeling of pity you have for this trooper as you push the blade further into his arm. This makes you feel gross, there’s a sick feeling in your stomach as you revert back to your old way of being, before the bar, before the squad. “I think you do know, and I can promise you, keeping me from my family is going to hurt you more than the empire can.”
“There’s a site, half a klick away, railcar crash.”
You push the blade in one final time and through gritted teeth ask him, “What. Direction.”
The trooper answers with the direction, and you smile before taking the back of your blaster and tapping him on the side of the head. After a pulse check to be sure you haven’t killed the now slumped man you soldier on, emboldened by the confirmation of the site, eager to get to Tech as soon as possible.
The crash site is genuinely nauseating. The remains of the railcar are smashed and split at the base of the mountain, laying against a tall cedar tree. There’s wires coming out in all directions sending blue sparks out into the orange sky, and the air has the taste of oil and metal, whether it's from the bent and ugly pieces on the ground or the blood that lingers you aren’t sure. The ground around the site is pushed up and bulging from the impact, and there’s small crates from rocks being dislodged and shot as the car hit the ground. It’s ugly, the crash has left no survivors from the car that went down, and you’re not sure you have the gut to wander in further. You lean against a tree nearby and notice the black tether cord jutting out of the bottom of the car. Your heart sinks and you think you’d pass out if you hadn’t been leaning against something sturdy. “Oh, oh Tech.” You whisper, slinking to the ground and letting yourself cry, really cry, for the first time today. You bring your knees up to your chest and drop your head down, tears stinging your cheeks as the cold burns them into your skin. You have to start moving, you aren’t really dressed for this, and as the sky turns magenta you know it isn’t long before it turns to night, not to mention that you know there are troopers nearby.
You lift your head up, deciding you’re going to go walk back in a moment, and you rest the base of your head back on the tree and your eyes drift shut. “Hey Tech, it’s me again.” You whisper into the comm, still crying as you go on, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry I failed you. I just had to try. I have so much I want to say to you, there’s so much-” your ears suddenly focus on something not too far from you. It’s the echo of your voice, reverberating off the nearby trees that has your heart pounding. “Hello? Hello!” you call, hearing the sound of your voice grow louder when suddenly, under the base of a tree, you hear it. It’s faint, but strong, and it’s your name being carried over the wind and down to you, spoken as soft as a prayer. When you look up you can see him, tangled in a mess of grapple line and tarp, armor dented and cracked, goggles missing. It’s your Tech, leaning against the trunk of this tree in a mess of his own creation, battered and bloody but breathing. “Tech!” You climb up to him as best you can, you aren’t an excellent climber by any means but the branches are sturdy and well placed, and suddenly you’ve reached him and he’s real. Your hands are everywhere, gentle and prodding, untangling him from the grapple line and running soothing strokes along the side of his face as he looks at you like you’ve got ten heads. He’s cold, he looks like he’s in pain, and you can tell by the grimace on his face when you brush his torso he’s got cracked ribs.
“Given my blood loss and my pain, this logically must be a hallucination.”
“No no no,” you’re soothing yourself now too, trying not to be hysterical as you untangle him and think of ways to get him down from the tree. “No, Tech I’m here, I’m here.”
“I, I don’t understand.”
“Tech,” you pause, placing a hand on his chest and looking into his eyes. He really is a mess, bloody and tired and his hair is flying in every which way. You’re laughing now, out of hysteria, out of irony, as you finally discard the tarp and shuffle the grapple line away from his body. “Do you remember how we met?”
“Of course,” he strains at the movement of you pulling him off of the trunk, “You were in the process of being mugged if I remember correctly?”
“I was negotiating the return of my wallet”
“And we found you on our walk through Ord Mantell. And then you took us to Cid’s.”
“Do you remember how I looked?”
He looks at you know confused, before slowly reaching up to feel his hair, the dried blood and the cuts still dripping, and despite it all, he cracks a smile. “Don’t tell me I look worse than that.”
You bite your cheek at the joke, happy he’s alive enough to even be making a joke, “Despite it all, I think you’ll live.”
Getting Tech down from the tree is awkward and clunky. He’s hurt, bad, and you’re worried with the movement he’s going to hurt himself beyond repair. You’ve got a solid medkit on your ship, and you just have to get him there. He’s fashioned himself a crutch out of a discarded branch and is using you to hold the majority of his weight, yet the walk still takes over double the time to get back to the ship. He regales you with the tale of his survival, though you admit that around the point he begins discussing “inertia” and the forces of gravity and the quick thinking of his pack, you’re more focused on him than what he’s saying. You get him back onto your ship quietly, careful to avoid the few troopers you see on the ground in order to avoid a firefight. Your ship is small, but it was designed to carry you and cargo, so you lead him to the small bed chamber off the cockpit. You press the button to open the door and lead him to your bed, tucked in the corner near a storage cubby, a mirror, and a small viewport. “Stay here.” You command as you lay him down in the bed, heading towards the cockpit to punch in the rendezvous coordinates.
“I don’t believe I have much of a choice.”
* * *
“Hold still.”
“I would much prefer just the patches, thank you.”
“And I would much prefer you alive, thanks.” You huff as you inject Tech with one of the loose bacta shots you have in your kit. He grimaces, and you continue working on removing the shattered pieces of his armor and tossing them haphazardly on the floor.
“Why do you even have that, are they not illegal?”
“Lots of good things are illegal,” you mumble out as you rip gauze to lay over the bacta patches you’ve started to apply to his wounds. “Besides, of the two of us, who’s the one wanted by the empire right now?” You go to life up his shirt and squeeze your eyes shut at the dried, bloody mess around his ribs.
He grimaces in response. “Fair point.”
You work in silence, his voice becoming more tired the more he’s spoken to you, and you don’t want to push him at risk of hurting him more. You’re applying the patches higher and higher before you sigh, breaking the silence. “Tech, I’m going to need to cut this undershirt off. I need to access your chest, and I don’t want you moving your arms more than you have to. He nods as you work on the rest of his body, whispering to both yourself and him, “Oh Tech.”
He won’t meet your eyes, but in the darkened room he looks at the ceiling, “When you first arrived, I thought I was dead.”
“You have that little faith in my rescuing abilities.”
“I assumed you were an angel.” There’s a silence that fills the room, and you can practically feel the tension as it rolls off of him.
“I knew you were alive, I did.”
“Oh? Explain your logic.”
“I just think I would know if something happened to you.” You say, the end of the sentence trailing off into quiet as you continue to work, stepping back to begin working on his chest.
“I assume my clothing options are limited then,” his eyes land on the pile of clothes in the supply cubby behind you, thrown haphazardly as you searched for any jacket.
“I’ve got something for you, actually,” you murmur as you cut the shirt off, peeling the scraps of fabric off his body and exposing his torso, tanned and marred, you suck in a breath as you see the reality of it.
He notices and grabs your hand. “If it soothes you, I did hit a very sturdy tree at a very swift impact, but clone armor is resilient. If I had done a proper examination, I would guess I’ve only cracked four ribs on my right side, where I made the most direct impact with the tree.”
“Oh good,” you snort, “only four.”
“I am… very fortunate I have a medic who is capable of helping me.” He looks at you earnestly, like he’s trying to decide what to say, and in reality, so are you. Hunter’s words are still ringing around in your skull, bouncing off your brain and worming themselves comfortably around your heart.
“Oh yeah, full service, you should see the trooper I took out.”
“I’m sorry?” He starts, and you bring a hand to his lips, shushing him quietly as you ease him back down to your bed. You stand up and walk towards the cubby, grabbing a similar black shirt to the one laying in scraps at your feet.
“Will this work?”
He squints at it, as if trying to place why it looks so familiar, when it clicks. “Is that… the undershirt I leant you when you stayed with Omega on our run to Tatooine?”
“Yes.”
“Why do you have it here?”
You don’t know what to say, and the way he’s looking at you, brown eyes boring into your soul with equal parts skepticism and hope, you decide the truth is best. “Because, sometimes, when you were gone, it was nice to sleep in. And sometimes I took myself flying because I didn’t like being in Ord Mantell alone, and so I would pack a change of clothes.”
“But you were never alone on Ord Mantell.”
You fold the shirt and place it on the edge of your bed, the confession you were so emboldened by suddenly feeling so small. As you make to walk towards the cockpit you shrug, “It felt like I was when you left.”
His grip is surprisingly strong (a perk of the illegal extra dose of bacta you assume) as he grabs your wrist, keeping you tethered to his side. He looks radiant like this somehow, patched up in your bed, hair mussed up on your pillow, shirt long discarded. He looks like your wildest dream. “Please. Stay. I have not been honest with you.”
You sit down at the edge of the bed, hand landing on his shin. There’s enough room here that you could recline and lay with him, albeit squished, but not much. Instead, you back up and scoot so your back is flush to the wall of the ship and you’re sitting to his side, your body angled towards him.
“I, I haven’t really had a situation like that. One where I could not think of a suitable solution that had a high probability of success and survival. When I decided to remove myself from the equation so that the rest of the squad could survive, I found myself thinking of one thing.”
“Oh?” you question, your hand pausing in its small rotation of absentminded circles along his leg.
“I could not stop thinking about how much regret I had in not confessing my emotions to you, not allowing you the ability to decipher what you felt about them.”
It’s like the air is knocked out of you then, as he pushes himself up on his forearms to be closer to you and you shift towards him, backing off the wall and sitting closer to his hips now. “Tech I-”
“Please,” he starts, “I am not very good at understanding emotion. I have tried and tried and I haven’t ever felt adequate in it. I had assumed for many months now that you were simply being kind to me, that you felt nothing, and perhaps that is still right, but after Safa Toma, I began to think that you did feel something, something aside from friendship.”
Tears threaten to spill over your eyes as you beam at him, laughing quietly to yourself as you nod, both a quiet reassurance and indicator for him to go on.
“I heard your messages, all of them. I wish to know you, all of you, as much as you chose to let me. If you would have me that is. It is very common for people to say things they don’t mean when under duress, and I would not hold it against you-”
You cut him off the only way your brain will let you as you lean closer to him, pulling his face up to yours and meeting him for a kiss. It’s everything you need from him, from this, soft and gentle and reassuring and comforting. He sighs against you for just a moment, as if reality is overwhelming him, and pulls you in deeper, shifting to the other side of your bed and allowing you to recline next to him on his left. He tastes metallic and medicinal but past all of the trauma and the medicine there’s still something (caf? chocolate?) that tastes like him, sweet and warm and him. He’s your Tech, he’s always been your Tech, and as you pull away you smile at him, running a finger along his cheek as he plants his hands firmly on the small of your back.
“You promised me you’d always come back for me, and I want to promise you the same.” He pulls you in closer at that, placing your head on his chest. “And for the record, I fell for you much earlier than Safa Toma, but seeing you win that race really helped.”
He chuckles a bit at that, keeping you tucked in under his arm and with your head on his heart, he starts to slowly drift to sleep. You focus on that, the drum of his heart, the steady rise and fall of his breathing, and start to dream too, knowing that no dream can match reality. You will wake up in a world where Tech is still alive and he is still yours, and you already can’t wait to get there.

star wars masterlist
Tumblr media
You saw it coming. You fucking saw the crate slide downwards, you saw it, yet you couldn't move fast enough, you couldn't scream loud enough, you couldn't do enough as it collided with Tech's leg, sending his torso jerking back at an uncomfortable angle.
Tech grunts in pain as the rest of you slam into the floor, the harsh metal biting viciously into your spine. It took a moment for the black splotches dancing across your vision to fade and for your ears to stop their incessant ringing. But when they did, Omega's voice was the first thing you heard. You scramble to your feet, helping Echo remove the crate from Tech's leg. Your hands shake all the while before breathing a sigh of relief when you finally get him out. Tech must have noticed your anxiety because he's quick to reassure you that he's merely fractured his femur. Although he does admit he's not okay, you're positive he's concealing the extent of the injury.
"I will be just fine," he told you, but it's nearly impossible for you to believe him because every step he takes is with a painful limp; even with Echo supporting his weight, he constantly bites his lip to contain how much pain he's enduring for the sake of the anxiety building in your chest.
You would admire his endurance and resolve if it wasn't for such a foolhardy cause.
Having emerged from the crash site and under the cover of whispering foliage, you let yourself catch your breath. Unfortunately, it was short-lived as Omega spotted movement not too far off.
"We're being followed."
The sentence, so simple and raw, sent a jolt of electricity down your spine, adrenaline roaring as your hands flew to your concealed blaster. The bushes to your left rustled with activity, and in an instant, yours and Echo's blasters were on the man, Omega's crossbow drawn back.
"Don't move."
The man revealed himself as Romar and, upon further questioning and under the scrutiny of Echo's blaster, led you to his dwelling. The exterior was covered in faux grass, and the house's paint imitated the color of dirt to blend in with its surroundings. The interior, however, was much smaller than you imagined. The place was cluttered with crates of various sizes and shapes, with a workbench lined against the wall. In addition, a hole in the floor revealed a basement, more room for whatever Romar was housing.
Tech collapses on a stool once you reach the threshold, placing his arm against the splintering wood of the workbench to relieve some of the pressure. You watch as he purses his lips, and a noise of discomfort muffled by his closed mouth does not evade your ears, much to his dismay.
Your sole focus on Tech soon fades as an argument brews between Echo and Omega about whether or not to return to the chest, with Echo ultimately having the final word and sending her to watch over the man. She was frustrated, for reasons you did not entirely understand, which was evident by how she bitterly stalked away from Echo, her shoulders hunched in dismay, but ultimately he was right. It was too dangerous to return to the crate, and Tech's injury would make evading the empire even more arduous.
A couple moments later, Echo escapes outside to alleviate some of the building tension, leaving the two of you alone.
"Here, let me take a look at it," you offer him, taking a seat on a vacant stool next to him, but he gazes at you with something unfamiliar in his irises, hidden behind the thick goggles framing his sharp features. He pushes his goggles further onto the bridge of his nose, his honey-amber irises staring fixedly at you.
"I am quite alright, my dear. It is nothing I cannot manage," Tech dismisses aloofly, his hand waving to further put the matter aside.
"I'll believe it when I see it," you defiantly cross your arms over your chest. Tech merely shakes his head at your persistence and tries to extend his thigh to you, but not before he doubles over, gasping at what you can imagine is excruciating pain. Tech grits his teeth as you elevate his leg on your lap.
Silence settles thickly over the room, bursting with unspoken words and remorse like a heavy gas, engulfing the room in an instant with its toxic fumes. You can hear every raggedy inhale and exhale as he tries to regain his bearings, his hand clutching the table so hard you're afraid he's going to break it. His other hand grips his leg, the fabric balling beneath his fingertips.
You gently place your hand over his, and he looks down at the simple point of contact, almost unsure of what to do next, while your expression morphs into something of concern. "Why didn't you tell me how bad it was sooner?"
"It was nothing to worry about. We had more pressing matters to attend to," Tech tries to reassure you, disregarding the matter once more, so instead, you squeeze his hand to gain his attention.
"Tech, your health and wellbeing are important and take precedence-"
"-Our safety takes precedence, not a mere fracture. I have dealt with worse before, I assure you," he states bluntly.
"But you shouldn't have to, Tech. If I reacted quicker, we wouldn't be in the kriffing situation." You remove your hand from Tech's in your frustration but his darts out to take yours once more. His thumb tenderly runs down the joints and knuckles in your hand in an effort to quell your self-doubt.
"If you had reacted quicker, you would have taken the injury for me, correct?" Your eyes unglue from his, embarrassed by his ability to predict your train of thought so ably. But, unbeknownst to you, his eyes soften as they search the floor for the right words to convey his uncharacteristically disorganized train of thought. Tech wasn't accustomed to expressing his emotions in the common tongue or, really, in any way. Amidst the horrors of war, learning how to properly articulate feelings was never a concern. That was until you joined, and he had to learn to navigate the realm of his unseen emotions. Little by little, the words started to come more naturally to him, but reassurance…it wasn't a skill he'd mastered quite yet.
"It is neither your nor my fault. Situations like these can occur without our involvement. It was out of our control, mesh'la. You must accept that and move on."
You take a moment to let the full validity of his words sink in. The cord of tension wound tightly in your muscles begins to unwind as your rigid posture relaxes. His words carry a hint of softness hidden under his matter-of-fact manner. It proves new meaning to what would be considered stiff advice to conveying that which cannot be put into words, a care, a worry, a feeling destined to be expressed by actions, not flowery language. His hand continues its path over yours.
"I know you're right…but I just wish I could do more."
"Of course I'm right," he pauses for a moment at your chuckle, "but there is nothing more you can do without sufficient medical supplies."
You frown at Tech's response before calling out to the man tinkering about in the basement. "Romar?"
"Yeah?" he replied.
"Do you have a first aid kit?"
"Yeah, just give me a sec, kid." Romar emerges from the room and moves around a couple of boxes until he finds what you asked for. He tosses it to you, and you catch it with ease, sending him a grateful smile. He nods in return before descending the stairs once more.
You set the kit on the table and begin working, your hands ghosting over his thigh as you use what's available to splint his leg. Tech is quiet most of the time. The occasional hiss or grunt is the only indication that he feels anything at all. You work in silence, and your thoughts can't help but wander off. You know that soon, you would have to depart from the house to reconvene with the other Batchers and return to Cid. And even though your lives and the conflict that followed it were fated to continue, you can't help but relish in the serenity of the in-between you're granted before all hell breaks loose.

The Storm
Tech x reader
Drabble Fluff
warnings: Mentions of storms! A/n: i honestly had no idea where i was going with this but if im being honest this was gonna be about him asking reader about how he goes about things, but i opted for this:]
Tumblr media
“you alright? you've been quiet since we got to this place..”  you interrupted techs thought process as he looked at his data pad.
“i am alright, im looking at the storms path.” he stated tapping on the screen, his eyes examining it. You sit next to him chuckling at the snores behind you became louder for a moment then stopped. The rain outside the shack could be heard outside and the pitter patter of rain filled your ears.
“hm...are you sure..?” you inquired once more as he shifted his gaze from his data pad to you.
“i am sure.” he stated and looked back to his data pad. He heard you shuffling closer to to him, feeling your arm next to his his breath halted a little, it was always like this. He never minded it though. The relationship between you two was..not complicated. maybe?
It had been a while since you admitted to liking him that night on the marauder,
“I- yea. i like you” he remembered the way you stuttered for a moment for second until you compsed yourself to seem more confident.
“Like...in the romantic way i mean-” you clarified and looked into his eyes.
ever since then he hadn't exactly replied to your confession, This was his answer. And you knew it.  He liked that about you.
leaning your head on his shoulder you to examined the device,
“I hope this storm passes soon. i hate storms.” you huffed out, your eyes shifting to his fingers that tapped on the screen.
“But they are fascinating” tech added looking at the screen.
“Tell me something about them then,hm..?” you asked shifting your head to a more comfortable position
“what exactly would you like to know?” he asked
“i like hearing you talk so...
Everything.”

Working as a mechanic at Safa Toma Speedway was not the sort of work you always dreamed of you. Working as a mechanic? Sure. That had always been the plan. Machines made more sense than people, after all. There were only so many responses, so many actions, a machine could make. People, though? People…Well, they didn’t like you. They thought you were “too much”. They thought you talked too loudly. They thought you laughed too much. They thought you overbearing, annoying, exasperating, irritating. But machines? Machines didn’t think those things. Except for droids, of course, who were maddeningly opinionated. But that was why you didn’t often work with droids. Until now, of course. But these were extenuating circumstances.
When the Republic became the Empire, everything changed. Your home planet was no longer safe—or, at least, it wouldn’t be. You may not have liked people, but you knew enough to know to recognize patterns. And the way things were looking, you could already feel the cold, iron grip of tyranny squeezing your home. You took the first ship out of there, which, unfortunately, put you on Safa Toma.
Safa Toma wasn’t…a great place to be. It housed criminals, smugglers, gamblers, and the like. It wasn’t exactly the safe haven you were hoping for. You supposed it was your fault for not paying more attention when you bought your ticket. But, you were here now, and you made do.
You ended up being employed at the Safa Toma Speedway. It wasn’t the best work, but it paid well. All you had to do was make sure the droid racer, TAY-0, was working fine and that his speeder ran well. And, of course, aid him in modifying the speeder, since the speeder wasn’t designed for racing. You were grateful for the work, so you kept your head down about the seedier aspects of Riot Racing. Don’t kick a gift horse in the mouth, as they say.
And, oh, were you glad that you decided to stick around.
Cid, who often bet on TAY-0, had come to the track, alongside two…bodyguards? And a child. (Part of you wondered if the child was also a bodyguard. Though she didn’t look much older than ten or eleven, she looked like she packed a punch.) You more interested in the handsome, goggles-wearing bodyguard, though. If you weren’t busy working, you would have made a proposition or two. Though, you mused, you might just still have the opportunity.
The race had gone well, until it didn’t. The other racers destroyed the speeder. It crashed. In the wreckage was the broken bits of TAY-0. An unfortunate turn of events for Cid, who bet her freedom on TAY-0 winning. But then the child—Omega— but in, and raised the stakes. If TAY-0 won the next race, Cid was free.
Your hand was brushing against Tech’s—one of Cid’s maybe-bodyguards (you still weren't sure on the arrangement)—as you reached for a tool to repair TAY-0.
“Ope, sorry,” you said, pulling your hand away.
Tech passed you the tool you had been reaching for. “No need to apologize.”
You offered him a smile before turning back to your task of reconstructing TAY-0’s arm. Kriff, you felt like an idiot around him. Tech, you mean. Not TAY-0. (TAY-0 could kick rocks.) You usually had so much to say that people would tell you to shut up. But when you were around Tech, your mouth suddenly became dry. Your palms became clammy. You struggled to even figure out how to form a sentence. What the hell was he doing to you?
“So, uh,” he coughed, “how’d you end up working here?”
You stared at him. Was he trying to do small talk? Curious. He didn’t strike you as a small talk sort of person.
“If it’s too personal, you don’t have to say,” he rushed out. There was a pink tint to his face. “I thought it might be nice to talk. Fill the air, you know. We’re going to be here all night. Based on my calculations, we’ll be lucky to have everything repaired and in working order before the race begins tomorrow. And—”
You cracked a smile. His words died in his throat. It was endearing, how nervous he got around you. At least you weren’t alone in that camp. “The Empire,” you said. His brows shot up. You were quick to add, “Nothing happened. Nothing specific, I mean. But they took over my home planet, and I got a bad feeling about it. Decided to trust my instincts and booked the first ship outta there. Ended up here, which wasn’t much better.” You took a moment to look him over. “I think it was a good decision, though. I probably wouldn’t have met you if I ended up somewhere else.”
The pinkness in Tech’s face burned red. “Oh—I—uh—“
“What about you? How’d you end up working for Cid?”
Tech eyed you, hesitancy overtaking his demeanor. Had you overstepped a boundary? Had you said something that triggered bad memories? Oh, dear. That was the last thing you wanted to do.
Tech stared at you, unblinking. He didn’t blink very much at all, though. His wide eyes constantly took in his surroundings, calculating and categorizing all that he saw. It should have been unnerving, but it wasn’t. It was…comforting. You liked knowing he saw you. “I would rather talk about you,” he said finally. “How did you end up a mechanic?”
You pondered for a moment, tried to formulate a response. You didn’t want to make yourself sound like a fool. “Just what felt natural, you know? I was always good with my hands, always had a mind for puzzles. That’s all being a mechanic is, really. Figuring out the puzzle of the machine, determining what pieces you needed to fit together to make a cohesive picture.”
Tech nodded along as you spoke. “Is it not what you wanted to do?”
You frowned. “What do you mean?”
No one had ever asked you that before. When you told your parents of your chosen career, they shrugged with a quiet sort of indifference. Something about how mechanics are always needed, so you’d always have a job. That it made decent money, so you could have a good life. It was nothing of prestige, so it wasn’t something they got excited about. But it also wasn’t something outlandish, so they didn’t protest, either. Now that you thought about, perhaps your feelings were more similar to your parents’ than you once believed.
“You said being a mechanic felt natural, but there’s no emotions behind your words. Rather, you only speak with a reluctant acceptance. It is reasonable to assume that you don’t care much for being a mechanic. That it is not what you’re passionate about.” Tech tilted his head. “What are you passionate about?”
You considered his words. There was one thing, a long-forgotten dream that you stuffed away to the far crevices of your mind. It felt strange to be pulling it back out now. “I suppose I always wanted to be a pilot. That wasn’t really an option on my home planet, though. People stuck to the ground. But I remember one time, my family and I visited a cousin on a different planet, and I was mesmerized by the stars, the feeling of traveling through space. When I came here, when I was on the ship that brought me here, I felt like that little girl again. Mesmerized by the stars.”
Tech’s hand came to rest on top of your own. You froze at the contact. When was the last time someone touched you? “When this is over, you should come with us,” Tech said. “I serve as our pilot now, but it’s not really something I care for. If you would like to, I mean.”
“Really?”
“I could teach you the basics, if you’d like, and then you could take over—”
“TECH’S GOT A GIRLFRIEND!” Wrecker shouted, his voice echoing off the walls. He made kissy noises in your direction.
You jumped away like you’d been shocked. Tech whipped around to glare at his brother.
Omega tugged on Wrecker’s arm, forcing him to return to their task. “Shh, let’s let them be.”
Tech looked back at you. “We can talk about it more later, okay?”
You nodded. “Okay.”
Now, you worried you would never get the change. TAY-0, who you and Tech worked so hard in restoring, was destroyed just before the race started. All hope seemed lost, but then Tech volunteered himself as the racer. Kriff, it made you sick to think of him on the track. He could handle himself, probably, but there were so many risks. People played dirty out there. If he wasn’t careful, his first race might just be his last.
You muttered a prayer to the Maker as the race began. You didn’t want to lose him. Not when you just met him. You watched as his speeder took off, falling behind everyone else.
“Do you know what you’re doing?” you asked, anxiety biting at your nerves.
“Of course I do,” Tech reported. The nervousness he had around you before had melted away. “I’m being strategic. I have a lot of incentive to win, don’t I?”
Your face grew warm. “Yes, yes you do.”
Wrecker bumped his shoulder against yours. When you looked up at him, he wiggled his eyebrows at you. “Lotta incentive, huh?”
“Hush!”
You chewed on the corner of your nail as you watched the race. With every movement, you worried that Tech wasn’t going to be able to pull through. Then he took the tunnel to the left, and it felt like you died then and there. Didn’t he know that he wasn’t supposed to take that one? Didn’t he know that was dangerous?
“Tech, I swear, if you die out there, I’m gonna kill you,” you muttered.
He laughed. “Worry not, cyar’ika. I have not intention of dying today.”
And you were glad he didn’t. As he crossed the finished line, winning the race, all of your worries and anxieties exploded into pure joy. All around you, the crowd shouted his name. Tech! Tech! Tech! He got out of his speeder, looking out at the crowd in amazement. Then his focus turned you.
You ran toward him, throwing your arms around his shoulders, burying your face in the crook of his neck.
“Oh! This is nice,” he said, his arms wrapping around you.
“If I’m going to go with you, you’re not allowed to scare me like that again!” you said.
Tech’s mouth twitched slightly, a small smirk forming on his face. “You know, I think I deserve a good, proper reprimand, don’t you?” When your breath caught in your throat, he continued, “Perhaps we should take this to the pit?”
That was how you ended up seated on a table, legs wrapped around Tech’s waist, fingers pulling at his hair, kissing him so hard you were sure your lips were going to be bruised. His fingers dug into your hips, pulling you close against his chest, like he was trying to mold you into him. His tongue darted out, tracing along your bottom lip. Your lips parted, letting him in, his tongue exploring your mouth like he was trying to commit every part of you to memory.
“We should,” you mumbled against his lips, “go rescue Cid.”
“Wrecker and Omega got it handled,” Tech said, pulling away for a moment to catch his breath. He nuzzled his nose against yours. “Let me enjoy you.”
“Hey, is this is how your flight lessons are going to go?” you asked, your breath fanning over his face.
Tech let out a chuckle. “Only if you’re a good student.”
“Mm, I promise to be on my best behavior then.”
Tech leaned back in, his lips molding against yours. You moaned slightly, tugging him closer. But, you weren’t given the opportunity to enjoy him like you wanted to because—
“TECH? Where are you? We need to get Cid—OH MY GOD!” Wrecker shouted. “We already got one kid to deal with, don’t be adding another to this!”
You pulled away, laughing so hard you snorted. Tech glared at his brother, but reluctantly unwound himself from you. He held out his hands and helped you down from the table. One hand held onto yours, keeping you close.
“We will continue this later.”
“I look forward to it.”
And, oh, you did.

“Please slow down.” Tech’s hands scrambled for anything that he could hold on to to try and steady himself.
“Slow down?” You almost laughed as you pushed the wheel to speed up. “Tech, buddy ol’ boy if I slow down we are going to get shot down.”
“Technically if we continue at this pace it’s more likely we’ll crash into one of the surrounding mountains.” Tech yelled over then beeping echoed around the ship you currently borrowed for the mission.
You looked around for a moment trying to figure out the specifics of the noise until Tech clarified.
“That would be the engine failing.”
“What?!” You shouted over at the clone sitting in the seat beside you. The grip on the wheel turned your knuckles white. “Tech you have to fly! I can’t do this, I’m going to destroy the ship and get us both killed.” Tech place a hand on your own guiding it back to the wheel.
“I do not believe you to be the best flyer.” He said bluntly while you dodged a few more blasts coming your way. “However this should be the most appropriate learning situation for you and I do believe that you can get us to safety.”
You couldn’t necessarily look over to Tech as you tried to keep your focus on staying alive, but you almost yelled over another siren blaring.
“How touching, but clearly you have a death wish. If that signals that the wing fell off you’ll see you made a mistake.”
“No it’s not.” Tech frantically pressed a few buttons before adding. “The other engine seems to have been hit. I recommend jumping to hyperspace.”
Something crashed into the back of the ship making the both of you lurch forward, without a second thought you pulled the lever for hyperspace. Almost reading your mind Tech’s fingers flew over and inserted some coordinates.
“Hopefully we’ll make it, the planet seems uninhabited and close enough.”
“And if we don’t?” The ship continues its loud beeps while both of you began trying a remedy to slow the ship.
“Well then…” he paused for a moment. “We either crash on the planet or completely miss it and float through the depths of the galaxy until the ship either explodes or we lose air.”
You stared at him dumbfounded for a moment.
“We should make it.” He reassured you, well he tried to reassure you.
“And the others? We just left them there.” You glanced over one last time to Tech, taking the wheel back into your hands and preparing for the ship to find the planet.
“I would assume those ships thought they were with us, and if they finish their ground battle quick enough they’ll be able to regroup and hopefully help us.”
The ship jerked out of hyperspace and for the second time today you nearly almost fell out of your ship.
“Tech? I’m not so sure we’re supposed to be landing this quickly.” The planet’s atmosphere burned the ships front a bit as it practically free fell getting close and closer to the trees bellow.
The beeping got louder as the ground grew ever so near. “Get to the seats quickly and strap in.”
“That means you too Tech.” You quickly grabbed his shoulder after he adjusted a few things and pulled him to the middle of the ship.
From your seat, as you pulled the safety bar down over your head, you could see the ship crash into the first tree as you banged into your seat.
Tech tried to grab for his seat but the impact threw everything that wasn’t held down by something around. In horror you watched as the ship started to break apart as it continued to crash further into the ground.
One roll then another, the ship started to cave in around you as the annoying beeping finally stopped.
The seat lock took a few moments of trying to finally free you from the seat. With the fatigue the crash has given you you tried to move the rubble around and find the surface with much difficulty.
“Tech.” You tried to yell with a cough from all the smoke. Thank the maker that ship was trash anyways. “TECH!”
No response. You couldn’t feel him in the force, yet again you could barely feel the leg that somehow still held you up right.
“Tech?” You tried again hobbling from one tree for support to another.
“Y/N!” The word was drowned out by coughing. You head snapped as you tried desperately to pin point the call with your pounding head.
“Over hear, I seem to be stuck.” Tech voice calmed your racing mind slightly, a hand shot up from the rumble and you quickly made your way over.
“Holy shit Tech!” A large peice of the ship covered most of his torso and his face contorted into discomfort
“Are you alright?” He asked looking up at you slightly. “Your limping.”
“Tech.” You couldn’t believe this man, he was lying there stuck under a huge piece of rumble after being in a crash. “Don’t worry about me right now, if your arms can move can you try and comm the others?”
The force faulted at your finger tips for a second while you tried to lift the metal off of Tech. The piece was nearly off of the ground but just enough so that the clone could slip off of it.
The beads of sweat rolled down your face as the huge scrap fell back to the ground. Stumbling a few steps back you fell backwards and leaned uncomfortably on a nearby tree.
Your eyes closed slightly and your head hit the cool bark of the tree, the force flowed back into your senses again and could finally feel the familiar signature of Tech coming back to you.
“Good news is that Hunter and the others can get the Marauder and come to our coordinates.” He kneeled down besides you.
“There’s bad news isn’t there?” You didn’t open your eyes as his shoulder brushed against yours.
“Unfortunately. We have no supplies it seems that could be salvaged from the crash, and there’s a slight back up at the planet we were recently on so the trip out here might have to wait until tomorrow.”
A groan left your lips and you slid a hand down your face. “I’m sorry about this Tech. I really am.” You spoke to him softly. “I shouldn’t have pestered you and before you didn’t even think I was ready.”
Tech glance over at you for a moment before saying. “I had my doubts Y/N and that could have also been the logical reason why we didn’t use the Marauder.” You laughed slightly to yourself before he continued.
“However you somewhat listened and frankly it wasn’t terrible, those ships were just a little bit quicker than that heap of junk.”
“You’ll let me fly the marauder then?” You asked looking up towards him, his face was shocked for a moment
“Maybe we’ll take a few more practice runs before that.”

Okay here goes nothing! My original fic has turned into a monstrosity because my maladaptive daydreaming said “bitch we need to Tolkien tf outta this.” So I may post that one later when I’m done fleshing it out and I may not if the dopamine kick for my currently unmedicated ADHD wears off. However, it did result in this (longer than I intended) one shot. I feel pretty vulnerable posting this tbh but it’s good for my anxiety to do this. A few notes before continuing. I almost wrote this in third person because while I love reading me a good character X reader fic when other writers use “you” whooooo boy was that hard for me. Also because it was born of MD, the initial story was a first person OC but I don’t feel comfortable writing that yet so here we are. Okay I am rambling now sooooo here I go before I read it again, see everything I hate about it and chicken out!

Fireflies
@deewithani asked to be tagged when I posted so hi and I hope you enjoy! 😊
Rating: Teen+
Pairing: Tech x GN!reader
Word count: 2017ish
Warnings: fluff. Lots of it cause I love fluff. Fluff so sweet your teeth might fall out.
One cycle. It had been almost one full cycle since The Batch had landed on your secluded planet of the Outer Rim. You’d made your way here following Order 66 and the villagers of the tiny island on which you now lived were more than welcoming. You were still heartbroken, however. You were alone. You felt like a failure. You were a Jedi healer and you couldn’t save any of them. Your former master, the younglings, your friends in The Order, your friends that were clones. So when The Batch arrived you were conflicted. Torn between the fear that they may also turn on you but also feeling immense comfort in their presence. You kept your secret, you couldn’t get hurt if they didn’t know. Regardless, you began to open back up slowly but surely. You made cookies for Omega and Wrecker, shared dry jokes with Echo, and carried out pleasant conversations with Hunter. However as the days pressed on, you found yourself seeking Tech’s company the most. You loved hearing him talk about anything and everything. You shared your own scientific and medical experience (withholding key details about your time as a healer) and theories with him. You loved the lively debates and learning from him. Watching him working on the Marauder was your guilty pleasure pastime. You felt almost normal again.
Nonetheless, you were feeling guilty for not being completely transparent about who you were. So tonight was the night. You were going to tell him everything. Sort of. Actually you were going to drop massive hints. Tech was brilliant. If he hadn’t figured out your secret yet, you were certain he would figure it out tonight. You decided you would take him to your special place; a secluded alcove off the beach. In your early days on the island you’d accidentally discovered it was home to a small swarm of Tython Fireflies which only hatch during the warmest cycles, like now. They’re also Force sensitive and tend to gravitate to Force wielders. He should be able to connect the dots with that alone, you thought to yourself. Also, you really did want to show him the fireflies; and, maybe, you just wanted to be alone with him. Even if just for a short while.
“Tech! Are you available tomorrow evening? There is an incredible natural phenomenon that I think you would appreciate!” You had asked him. “Yes, I am available,” he’d told you. “Fantastic. Meet me at the old trail just an hour before dusk,” you’d instructed.
“You’re early,” you cheekily teased when you opened your door to an unexpected knock. “Obviously. Is that a problem?” Tech answered. You shrugged, “Nope. Just an observation. Are you ready?” “Lead the way,” he answered, holding an arm out, beckoning you to walk ahead of him. You shot him a flirtatious grin over your shoulder as you led him down the path to the alcove. Maker, was he incredible. You reveled briefly in his Force signature as you walked, noting its warmth. You loved the companionable silence the two of you shared. Almost as much as you loved the conversations. As you traversed the rocky tide pools you pointed out native species and he shared stories of aquatic species he, his brothers, and Omega encountered while on missions. You could listen to him talk all day. You admired how effortlessly he trekked over the uneven and slippery path; graceful and almost entirely silent. He was bloody beautiful and you wanted to look at him forever.
“It’s just this way!” you excitedly called to him. You reached out to the tangle of vines hanging from the rocky ocean cliffs. Pulling them back revealed a weather beaten opening. The two of you emerged on the other side into a small inlet. From the rock face poured a waterfall into a small lagoon. In it were some of the biggest and most elegant Goldies you’d seen, and was saying something because the ones that were kept in the Jedi Temple were impressive. The inlet was draped in exquisite greenery, trees, and radiant flowers. The sand was soft and still warm and the birds were singing their roosting songs as the sun crept lower toward the horizon. “We are here!” you exclaimed, holding out your arms and doing a little spin. “Quite impressive. There is a wide array of flora and fauna here I haven’t seen on the rest of the island,” Tech mused as he wandered about inquisitively with his datapad in hand. You giggled at how cute he was inspecting each flower, fish, and insect, rattling off facts about the ones he knew and making notes to research the unfamiliar. You walked up beside him, “There’s more. Do you see those pods hanging from the trees?” You asked. “I do,” Tech responded, adjusting his goggles. You continued, “Those are the egg sacks of the Tython Fireflies. They only hatch during the warm cycles, like now. When dusk arrives in only a few moments those will open with thousands of new hatchlings ready to spread their wings.” Tech began typing on his datapad, “Fascinating! Tython Fireflies, I know I have heard of those before—“ Before he could continue, you grabbed his arm, “Shh! Look! They’re beginning to hatch!” You both stood still as the pods split and the fireflies emerged, slowly at first. As their wings dried they began to pour from the pods like shimmering gold water. You could hear their songs within the Force, however the audible humming of their wings was also lovely. You held a hand out; first one and then another landed in your palm. One, five, eventually ten and twenty little lights encircling your outreached hand, they were warm and found comfort in the Living Force within you. Tech watched speechless for a moment, completely enraptured by the sight before him. You, under the emerging stars, in this picturesque location with sweet fireflies landing in your hands like they were pets. Time escaped you as you both basked in the moment.
“Ah yes, Tython Fireflies, I recall now. In Mando’a they are called “be’jetti Ka'ra '' or the Jedi’s Stars, because they are particularly fond of Force sensitive---” Tech stopped, looking at you with the sudden realization. “Hm, that is interesting,” you hummed coyly, confirming the unspoken between the two of you. “Wait. I want to show you something else,” you added as you grabbed his hands. You cupped them as if you were preparing to pour something in them, “Don’t move.” You walked to the nearest pod and scooped a handful of the new hatchlings. They hummed and buzzed in your hands, sounding happy and comforted by the living Force they felt in your fingers. You slowly walked back to Tech and gently placed them into his cupped palms. You then tenderly placed your hands around his, brushing his knuckles softly with your fingertips. As the hatchlings gathered their strength and their glow intensified, they illuminated his face. His brown eyes looked even more beautiful than you thought possible. He held your gaze and your heart felt as if it would leap from your chest, the space between you closing slowly. You sighed, smiled, and then whispered, “On my command, hold them up. Three…two…one…now.” Together, you raised your hands into the air and the hatchlings took flight swirling and dancing around you both as if there was a song neither of you could hear. As they dissipated into the foliage you moved to sit on a rock closest to the lagoon. “Well? What do you think?” you tentatively probed. “About which part? Your being a Jedi or the impressive light show you’ve just shown me?” he answered walking toward you.
“Both, I suppose.”
He sat next to you, thigh pressed against yours. You were suddenly keenly aware of how warm he was, soft, and kriff, he smelled amazing. You inhaled deeply taking in his scent, a combination of smokey and subtly spicy with the faintest remnants of oil likely from his constant tinkering on the Marauder.
“I am surprised I did not realize before now that you were a Jedi. In retrospect there were many signs I should have picked up on. However, I do not blame you for not being forthcoming before tonight. Though, you are safe with us. We have all had our chips removed and Omega never had one. As for this,” he motioned with his hands indicating he was now speaking about your surroundings. “This was remarkable. And I thank you for sharing it with me. It has, however, led me to ponder a hypothesis I have been rolling around recently. With your permission, of course.”
“Of course. I always enjoy a good experiment!” you chirped with a smile. He shifted to angle himself toward you. He confidently smirked as he tipped your head up, thumb and index fingers tenderly holding your chin. He then moved in and kissed you firmly. You didn’t hesitate and leaned into it bringing your hand to his cheek.
“Fascinating,” he crooned as he pulled back. “I believe this hypothesis will require further testing.”
“Well then, I suppose we should get to work,” you cooed as you leaned in again. The next kiss was deep and desperate. Tech’s fingers dug into your waist, pulling you to him while his other hand was fervidly tangled in your hair. Your hands roamed from his face to his neck, pulling him in not wanting to let go. You were tangled in each other for an unknown amount of time, hands roaming, drinking each other in under the stars.
And then his comm began to buzz. You both reluctantly pulled back, out of breath and ravenous for more. “One moment,” he sighed.
“Tech where are you?” Hunter’s irritated voice cut through the peaceful night air. “There are some repairs we need to finish here and you said you’d be back by now.”
“Apologies Hunter. We were…delayed,” Tech answered shortly, adjusting his goggles once again.
There was a pause and then a quiet chuckle from Hunter, “I see. Just try not to wake us up when you get back.”
“Copy that.”
“It is late. We should start making our way back,” you sighed, closing your eyes and focusing on Tech’s fingers that had made their way back to your hair. He sighed and leaned in, pressing his forehead to yours. “Yes, I know.” He stood up and extended his hand to you. You took it, momentarily marveling at how perfectly your hands fit together. As you made your way back together you leaned into his shoulder and said, “You know, my Mando’a is pretty rusty. I’d love to learn more.” Tech squeezed your hand and replied, “Fortunately, I am an exceptional teacher.” You laughed and he smiled warmly at you. Your laugh was musical to him. “I was going to say that you’re lucky that I’m an excellent pupil,” you teased. He bumped your shoulder with his arm playfully and chuckled.
The walk home was far too short for both of you. When you arrived you stalled trying to avoid the inevitable end to the night. “Thank you for coming with me tonight, Tech. It far exceeded my expectations and is, without a doubt, now my favorite experience there. And thank you for trusting me to test that…hypothesis,” you said as you smiled shyly, just missing his gaze.
He lifted your head so he could meet your eyes with his, “You are the only one I wish to test that hypothesis with. And I will continue to do so until you no longer wish to.” You blushed and answered, “This will be an extremely long running experiment then.” You stood on your tip toes and placed a soft kiss on his lips, “Good night, Tech.”
You turned to go inside but he held on to your hand a moment longer and uttered, “Mesh’la.” You stopped and turned to face him once again, “What?”
“Consider this your first lesson in Mando’a, mesh’la.”
“Oh! And what does that mean?”
He brought his hand to your face and you pressed your cheek into his palm as he answered, “It means ‘beautiful’.”

The right parts (Tech x Reader) Western AU
Summary: You have been Pabu Creek's blacksmith for a long while, a fact that the local inventor, Tech, appreciated, since you were more than capable of making his custom parts.
Wild West AU with a gender neutral reader. No warnings, just sweet, awkward Tech, and first-kiss cuteness.
A.N: I've been seeing western AU stuff for the bad batch for a while, but I directly credit @emperor-palpaminty for this, as falling into their western au tag really got me inspired ❤️
If you wanna read more headcanons I have for my take on this AU, I have some here, and this might become a series of oneshots. Also, this has a bit of a steampunk-y vibe, hope you don't mind!

Most in town avoided the workshop. They were put off by the strange bangs and pops and hisses that rang behind those barn doors at every hour. Tech was treated...well enough by the town folk, but most would admit they were more put off by him than the other boys in his family.
Mostly, they just didn't understand him, his ramblings and rantings. They could admire Hunter and Wrecker's strength, Rex and Echo's veteran past, but Tech's mind? All those lofty textbooks and strange contraptions?
It was all just a bit much for the average person.
Still, most knew and appreciated how much their little town had benefited from Tech. His knowledge and inventions had helped many of them, just as much as the crops his brothers grew and the protection his cousins offered. And they appreciated it nonetheless.
But what they appreciated just as much, was the fact that you were one of the only persons willing to brave the infamous workshop.
Your satchel was hefty today, clinking with Tech's newest order, and you adjusted it on your shoulder as you lifted your fist to knock on the iron-braced door.
There was a metallic clatter on the other side, a muffled curse, and the shuffle of feet. In a groan of hinges the door opened, and there was Tech. Soot smeared across his cheek and forehead, sleeves rolled up well past his elbows, and glasses askew.
It was a true testament to how fond he was of you, that a small smile lifted his lips when his eyes met yours.
"Perfect timing," he greeted, eyes darting down to the bag resting on your hip.
Leaving the door wide open, Tech quickly turned and headed back into the depths of his workshop, knowing you would follow.
"Evening to you too," you smirked, stepping in after him.
As you shut the door behind you, you lifted your satchel off your shoulder, relishing the lifted weight. Tech's main set of workbenches (yes, set, not one simple table) sat along the adjoining wall, with blueprints, scribbled notes, broken parts, and tools scattered atop every surface. There was a clear space directly in front of where Tech stood, and that's where you set his order.
He untied the strap with care and tilted the bag so its contents rolled out with ease. The hum of approval that followed made your skin tingle just a little.
"Yes, yes," Tech muttered, lifting the first piece of metalwork to the light shining through the window, "these are just as I hoped. Exquisite work, as always." He looked over at you then, adjusting his glasses, "Then again, I expect nothing less from talent such as yours."
Your face was burning at the compliment, mouth dry even as you gave him a smile of your own. "Well, your sketches are always easy to work with," you said, reaching for the papers tucked into your vest pocket.
Tech repeatedly expressed how thankful he was that the town blacksmith was versatile in their work, as he always seemed to need custom parts for whatever machine he was working on at the moment. You were always happy to oblige, welcoming the challenge and change of pace. One could only make so many nails and horseshoes before they got bored.
While you tossed his latest specs back onto the pile of design sketches, Tech completed his examination of your work. Then, he slid off his round spectacles and grabbed his goggles, another piece of your handywork.
"As I said, your timing could not have been better, my dear," he tightened the strap, "as I'm a hair away from completing my latest project.
"Do you need any help?"
He paused as he reached for his tool set, "Oh, I- yes!" he cleared his throat, "If you don't have anything else pressing to attend to, an extra set of hands would be appreciated."
You waved your hand at the rest of the open building, "Lead the way."
Tech had, many projects. Some with thick layers of dust, some in several pieces, others he came back to often. To the untrained eye, it all looked like piles of junk, but you had been in here enough over the years that you recognized that it was just a result of Tech hyperactive mind. He had trouble staying on one project for long, though sometimes, like this current machine, he managed it.
After leading you to the very back of the barn-like building, Tech set down his toolbox beside the strange contraption. For lack of a better comparison, you likened its shape to a metal bull of sorts, with thin wheels for legs and a large opening where its head might have been. Though, if Tech heard you collating it to an animal, he'd probably raise a confused brow. He cared little for aesthetics, after all.
"If you could hold this," Tech cut through your musings, holding up a paneled section of the machine's side.
You took it from him, holding it up on its hinges so he could all but climb inside.
"Ah, now I get it," you smiled seeing what part he was working on, "you're trying to increase the pressure."
"Precisely, there was too much steam loss, which resulted in slower forward motion, which itself resulted in the wheels getting caught on every minor obstruction in its path."
You let him ramble on as he tinkered with this, adjusted that, working your new parts in one at a time. He did use your hands, asking you to press down on one thing, hold another in place, it all made the process faster.
When he was done there, Tech threw open the barn doors in front of the machine, giving it somewhere to go when he as he ran his final test. Then, he asked you to help him load the fuel source to start that test run. The thing seemed to roar to life the moment it had its food, and the gears Tech had commissioned from your last week began to turn- before stalling almost instantly.
"Oh no no no no!" Tech ran his fingers through the tight curls of his hair as he looked about, "That should have worked! Why isn't it working!?"
"Tech," you grabbed his arm and pointed to the ceiling, "you still have it chained up!"
His eyes went wide as he looked at his suspension rig, which he often used to lift machines for easier alterations. Without a word, he leapt onto the would-be bull, climbing onto its back and began working at the chains, worried something would break from the strain.
The moment the machine was free it lurked forward, gears cranking and turning- and throwing Tech off its back as it took off. Your heart leapt into your throat as he came soaring down, and your arms flew open without another thought.
With a great thud, Tech's body collided with your own, sending you both tumbling down to the dirt floor. You could smell the coal and tang of metal that clung to Tech like a cologne, being that he was laying right on top of you. He drew in a shaky breath, nose brushing against your cheek as he propped himself up on his elbow, which also just so happened to be on either side of your head.
He fixed his goggles, which had gone askew, and blinked down at you, "My apologies," he breathed, "I did not mean to-"
"Tech," you cut him off, cupping your hands on his face so you could turn it in the direction of the doors, "it works, your machine works!"
Indeed, the large contraption was grinding and lurching down the open field surrounding his workshop with great power. He let out a laugh, turning his head back to you.
"It does indeed! This is wonderful, Wrecker's next harvest will go much more smoothly now."
You were sure the way you smiled up at him was soft, too soft to be just a friendly smile, but you didn't stop yourself from saying, in an equally gentle tone, "Your brilliant mind never ceases to amaze me."
You saw him draw in a sharp breath, and thought something in his eyes...shifted. "And you, my darling, never cease to amaze me with your handiwork." Was he..was he leaning in closer to you? "Not many people can understand me, and you always do so without fail."
His eyes were half-lidded now, as he placed one of his hands over yours, which was still holding his face. You couldn't help but hold your breath as he just looked down at you, thumb caressing the back of your hand.
"Your palms, they're...rough," he whispered rather absent-mindedly.
You couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, "So are yours," you grumbled back, and watched his eyes widen.
"Oh! No, I like them- your hands, I mean. I like that they're rough."
This time your eyes held interest, and you leaned up ever so slightly, "You do, do you?"
He gulped and this time, you knew he was moving closer to you, "Yes, very much so. I dare say, I love everything about you, my sweet."
And then his lips were on yours.
They were chapped but moved with an unexpected grace. The hand that had been placed over yours moved to cup your cheek. You responded in kind, taking your own hands and sliding them back to curl into his hair. He let out a moan, a moan that caught in his throat when you tilted your head to deepen the kiss.
It was then that you were fully reminded of the fact that he was laying atop you. His leg moved seemingly of its own accord, pressing between your thighs in a way that had your chest stirring with something new.
Unfortunately, a sound echoed from across the field, and you pulled yourself out of your heated haze long enough to pull back just a little. Tech was not discouraged, his mind fixated on the task before him, and he simply moved his mouth to your jawline.
"T-Tech," you all but moaned, and the deep hum he gave in response had your mind spinning. He must like it when you say his name. "We- need to go catch your machine."
His breath was hot against your ear as he nuzzled your skin, "Do we have to, my dear? I am far more intrigued by my current project."
You didn't have time to unpack whether or not you liked being called his project, because you were untangling your finger from his curls to gently push on his chest.
"We can always continue this later, mr beautiful mind, but for now, I'm pretty sure that thing is heading for Cid's saloon."
Again, Tech's eyes went wide, any aforementioned lust vanishing. "Oh, dear!"

"Come on Tech!" Wrecker shouted. "Hurry!"
"I am climbing," Tech struggled. "as fast as I can."
"Get him up here, Wrecker!" You started barking orders. "Now! We don't have much time!"
You tried to catch a glimpse of Tech, but it was no use. There was too much metal in the way but not enough cover from the blaster fire.
"Why aren't we moving?" Hunter grumbled as he took cover. You all needed to get out of there now, or you'd all die.
Echo moved from his cover spot and returned fire at the enemies, stealing a quick glance at the track above him. "The car's being ripped from the track!"
You were at a stalemate. The car wouldn't move with the broken half pulling it down, and none of you would do anything about it until Tech was on board. "Wrecker, you gotta hurry it up!" You told him.
You too, began to return fire with Echo, Hunter soon joining.
"Wrecker!" Hunter snapped. "Get him onboard!"
Wrecker took a hesitant step forward, quickly stepping back when the car began to rumble.
"Don't!" Tech shouted from where he hung. "Any shift in weight could send both of these cars over!"
"Then keep climbing, Tech!" Hunter took cover once more. "I'll shoot you a line as soon as you get close enough!"
The sound of imperial ships echoed in the sky. You heart nearly sank as soon as you saw them. "We've got ships inbound!"
One of the ships fired at the track, the car dropping a bit. There wasn't much left that you could do. "Hang on Tech! I'm coming down!"
"No! Don't!" He insisted, hanging on as tight as he could to his line. "You must sever the connection hinge!"Now!"
"Not until you're up here!" Wrecker argued back. "I'm not gonna lose another one of ya!"
The second ship shot at the track again, the car shifting tremendously.
"There is no time, Wrecker." He withdrew his blaster from its holster and aimed up. "Plan 99."
"Plan 99?!" Your head snapped down at Tech, eyes wide. "Tech you can't!"
Wrecker was determined to bring his brother up. He grabbed the half of the falling car and attempted to pull it up. "Don't you do it Tech!" Wrecker begged.
"There has to be another way!" You cried out. "Think for a second!"
He sighed and took a deep breath, aiming at the perfect spot to sever the broken half of the car. "When have we ever followed orders?" He shot right at the sweet spot, finally freeing the good part of the car from the bad part.
For a second, Wrecker thought he could handle the weight.
But then he failed. The heap of metal slipped from his grasp and went falling down. "No!"
You wasted no time going after him. With one blaster you shot the grapple at the platform and attached the other side to your belt. You immediately jumped down after Tech, your second blaster in hand and ready to shoot it's grapple towards him.
He stared up at you, his hands subconsciously extending towards you. He was glad you couldn't see his face behind his helmet he was scared— scared to die.
At least he was able to see your sweet beautiful face one last time.
"I love you Y/N!"
Leave it to Tech to admit his feelings that the wrong time. You'd make sure to tease him about it later.
"Grab on!" You shot the second line to him. He caught the end and attached it to his own belt, attempting to grab the line with his hands for more support.
He was going to make it, he had to— but then he didn't.
You were yanked upward by the first line and the second had shot out too long.
And because of the extra few inches of line that shot from your blaster, his body hit the ground with a thud, instantly lifeless.
And you saw the whole thing. You were too late. You couldn't save him in time.
In a matter of seconds you would be whipped away by the car you were still attached to. Swiftly, you took your first blaster and released the line, falling only a few feet to the ground. You wasted no time getting up on your knees and crawling over to him. "Hey, hey..." you hesitantly slipped a hand under his lower back and lifted him up. "Tech?"
This couldn't be for nothing. He had to be alive.
"Tech." You pulled him into your laps, tears swelling in your eyes and your voice cracking. "Breath... Tech, breath. You're okay."
With your free hand, you careful removed his helmet and set it aside. You then pushed his now cracked goggles to his temple, your heart breaking as you discovered the tears in the corners of his eyes. "Tech... stay with me, please stay with me. Stay with me!"
You gently wiped his tears away as yours rushed down your cheeks. "Tech..." you cried "Tech! No please! Please!" Your forehead rested against his goggles, eyes squeezing shut. "Please..." you begged once more. "Stay with me, Tech."
You pressed a soft kiss to his lips, hoping that maybe he would just wake up. Tech couldn't die like this, he couldn't. Not when he deserved a long and happy life, not when the Bad Batch had finally found a peaceful blade to live on Pabu— not when he had finally admitted his feeling for you moments before.
It wasn't fair.
Tech deserved to rest, but not like this. He deserved to live his life in peace, he deserved to watch that beautiful sunset every single night— he deserved to hold you in his arms every single night— because that's exactly what he had wanted.
To settle down with you.
But now he never could.
When you pulled away, you began sobbing, holding onto him so tight that you were afraid he would disappear if you didn't. You would stay there day and night if it meant not leaving his side, but unfortunately, the empire had other plans.
"I love you too, Tech."

Tech x Reader: Distraction
AO3 link
“You… knew?” You catch on pretty fast, your confident hold on Tech faltering a bit as you’re seized by shock. Tech simply nods, and his analysis soon follows.
“The signs were rather obvious. The dilated pupils, the deeper breathing, the increased body temperature...”
Tech is particularly handsome under the neon lights tonight, and in your drunken state you decide you'd rather his eyes be on you than on his godforbidden datapad.
(Aka, I’ve been reading too much fanfic for this nerd and absolutely love him. Good read everybody <3)

Hey, love your stories ❤️
I have an idea which is often disregarded. Reader not being able to cum during sex. Maybe due to something on their mind or a stressful mission...
If thats not up your alley than I absolutely get it!! ^^
I just think the boys would be super understanding about it.
Well I see this is a challenge, one I'd like to give a shot, cause after all, it's realistic and could happen to any couple. Thanks for the inspiration! I hope my guess is to your liking. A little warning, most of them might be understanding, but still not taking it too well.

Tumblr media
Hunter
You are fully involved and Hunter is as always very passionate and generous about it, but he soon feels that your excitement does not build up further, on the contrary you slow down. This has a direct effect on him thanks to his senses. He pauses and looks at you emphatically.
"Cyare, are you all right? I can feel that you, somehow, are not really in the mood. Your arousal is waning. Is something wrong?"
You don't know how to explain to him that today was just too much and you don't have any energy or nerves left and the mood just isn't right. Usually Hunter always gets you going, but today you absolutely don't feel like it.
"I... I don't think I can do this today."
He frowns worriedly and gently leaves your body.
"Did I do or say something wrong?" he wants to know.
You assure him it has nothing to do with him. Hunter is indulgent and considerate, he doesn't hold it against you, but no matter what you say, he won't be able to shake the feeling that it's because of him until the next time you've spent a successful night of love.
Tumblr media
Echo
He's panicking, asking you what's wrong, what he did wrong, if he should do something different. He caresses you and hugs you as if he has to apologize to you. You need to be patient with him, be gentle and try not to seem annoyed, that will only make him more insecure. He is such a lover and giver that he has difficulty understanding what is going wrong.
Of course he listens to you and understands what you are saying to him, he is considerate, will not push you at all and will be loving, as always. But no matter what you do or say, he will be so insecure that he will be downright grieving. He can absolutely understand what is going on inside you, especially since you explained it to him, but he still feels like a failure, he can't help it.
You can count on him to double and triple his efforts at your next sexual encounter and to pamper you as you have never experienced before. Every wish will be fulfilled, there are no taboos. You just want to hump his thigh? No problem, Echo will flex his muscles just to make you enjoy it even more, he will praise and adore you while you ride his thigh until you get off on it. No matter what you want him to do, he does it. And you will see in his face such a relief when you cum that you will probably be confused at first.
Tumblr media
Wrecker
He is very empathic, he quickly senses that something is wrong, and addresses you on it. Wrecker is very sensitive and understanding, you can be very frank with him. His self-confidence is healthy enough not to feel bad if things don't work out, he knows it can't always go perfectly no matter how much you want it to.
He may offer to pamper you, give it another try, and offer to just sit back and let you indulge, but if you don't feel like it, that's okay too.
"Next time it will work again," he says lightly, pulling you into his arms. He's not really worried.
He'll probably lie there half the night with a hard-on, but you could be a good sport and relieve him, he won't ask you for it and won't resent it if you don't feel like it, but if you do it of your own accord, he's very grateful and count on it, he doesn't forget that and is only too happy to spoil you when you're intimate with each other again.
Tumblr media
Tech
Our ingenious boy of course already notices during foreplay that something is wrong, because that is always very extensive with Tech and one of his favorite things when it comes to your intimacies. Part of his kink is to pleasure you and give you orgasms and when that suddenly doesn't work he is of course confused at first, especially since he knows all the tricks and you are usually a squirming, moaning mess when he takes care of you. But he knows that something like this can happen, of course he has read about it before.
Tech likes to listen to you, you can talk to him openly, he will like to talk to you about that too. After all, he can also learn something here. Similar to Wrecker, he will offer you to keep trying, maybe pull some new tricks out of his sleeve. It's up to you if you want to let him try. He won't take offense if you say no, don't worry. He may not have the greatest self-confidence, but he knows what he can do and he knows that you love him, he won't worry so quickly, but you can be sure that whenever you let him, he will take good care of you.
Tumblr media
Crosshair
Damn. As soon as he notices something is wrong, he's pissed. He's not mad at you, but with Crosshair it's sometimes hard to tell. He retreats without comment and angrily. He feels nonsensically humiliated. It's not your fault at all, and he knows it, but he needs a moment to cool down before he faces you again.
It may take a while for him to calm down and probably his behavior will unsettle you, but when he comes back he is unusually tender. He takes you in his arms and pulls you to him without a word.
Sometime after a while you hear him grumble, "It's okay, next time it will work out again, can't always go perfectly."
He kisses your head and tucks you in.
If you ask him shyly, "Can I do something good for you anyway?" he will shake his head and say, "No, one-sided doesn't make sense. Get some rest, it's not that important".
He is very physical and has a very high sex drive, but sex is only fun for him if he can also satisfy you, for him it is almost something like a question of honor.
Is that what you had in mind?
