Dracula's Castle.
This side of the drawing is finished. I've got one more to do and I think I'll be ready to start the actual model

The Engeneering nerds are trying to hide this from you!
Tumblr media
I'm telling you all this because I didn't knew myself for the longest time, so listen up: This is a clutch pencil, a type of mechanical pencil with a 2mm lead. It's used primarily in technical drawing, because it can do all kinds of lines, thick lines, thin lines, several kinds of dotted lines, all with one instrument. Students of technical drawing still learn to draw on paper first, ask me how I know.
But I've also been to lots of art classes and although there was lots of talk about pencils and charcoal and graphite and mechanical pencils, no one ever talked about the clutch pencil.
The one instrument specifically made to draw lots of different types of lines consistenty.
This is specifically the Faber-Castell TK9400, the one I use. Not sponsored. But it's Faber-Castell, they know what they are doing. It's quite expensive, but the lead lasts forever. Just make sure you also get a tiny sharpener.

Introduction to COLOPORT CICI TV M21THW-1 BY NUCLEAR ELECTRICS© 1967
An OC I've been developing for the past two weeks, I've been hyper-fixating about a specific 1960s portable tv by General Electrics
She has 6 available personalities and comes with her very own pet! (soon to be released)
She's heavily inspired by 60s technology and the post WWII "return to normalcy" movement and the Red Scare, she's technically just a TV but that's not necessarily what NUCLEAR ELECTRICS or the government for that matter use her for. Let's just hope her pets don't find you acting out of the ordinary...
also... i couldn't figure out how to save this drawing without the pixels becoming blurry but CSP gave me the best resolution, i drew this in Ibis Paint on my phone :) all of the words are hand-drawn because i couldn't find a single font that wouldn't become blurry at the size i wanted
here's a fun list of all the websites i found trying to make this character:

Lotus Pier WIP: Final Previews!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
AHHHHHH My architectural study of Lotus Pier is finally, finally almost complete! It has been sixteen months since my initial screenshot studies of this set. For nostalgia's sake, here's how that looked:
Tumblr media
I (foolishly) did not anticipate Lotus Pier becoming such a pinnacle piece in this ongoing set analysis project, nor did I take into account how much of the architecture is roofing oh my god so much roof i hate it here.
The final piece will, as always, include floorplans (yes, two!!) sleuthed from screenshots which, at the final count, totals 367. I have subsequently become immune to the burning of Lotus Pier. Here's some previous previews about those:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope you look forward to seeing the finished piece!
I also have much to say about what the layout and style of Lotus Pier say about the culture/lifestyle of the Yunmeng people and have some meta reflections on the camera angles in certain scenes (which you can read a bit about here). I'm also really fascinated by the kitchen, which is a location we don't see much detail of, and how the layout of the main compound echoes chinese architectural principles I've already touched upon in my other set drafts.
In the meantime, I'm going to continue to wrestle with the towers on the compound gate and finish these goddamn roofs I'm dreading drawing Koi Tower after this. As always, I have no idea what I'm actually doing, but I'm having fun ✌

Cross-section
Tumblr media
Cross-section of a small merchant sloop. The machinery underneath the captain's quarters uses an aetherium crystal to control altitude, absorb momentum to slow the vessel down or help with manouvering, though such complex machinery is still very rare to see on vessels like these. Most still use simple, manually operated aetherium gyroscopes.

So I've started a frankly ludicrous project.
I'm making a miniature of Dracula's castle from the netflix Castlevania series.
I've been studying screencaps and promotional art for the series and using those to help figure out the design of the castle. Thing is, the design is so detailed I'm now making technical drawings of the castle to make sure I understand the design.
It's taking way longer than expected but I feel like it's good practice for my drawing skills and model making skills.
I'll be posting more as the project unfolds.

Mechanical Drawings - Digital Suntech
Mechanical drawing, also known as technical drawing or engineering drawing, is a form of communication used by engineers, architects, and other professionals to convey the details of a design. It is a precise and standardized way of representing objects and their relationships in a two-dimensional or three-dimensional space. Here are some key aspects of mechanical drawing:
Orthographic Projection:
Mechanical drawings typically use orthographic projection, where a three-dimensional object is represented by two-dimensional views from different angles. Common views include front, top, side, and isometric views.
Line Types:
Different line types are used to represent various features. For example, solid lines may represent visible edges, while dashed lines may represent hidden or invisible edges.
Dimensioning:
Dimensions are essential in mechanical drawings to provide accurate information about the size and location of features. Dimensions are typically expressed in terms of length, width, and height.
Scale:
Drawings are often created to scale, meaning that the size of the drawing reflects a proportional reduction or enlargement of the actual object. Common scales include 1:1, 1:2, 1:5, etc.
Symbols and Notations:
Symbols and notations are used to represent specific features or materials. Examples include welding symbols, surface finish symbols, and material specifications.
Title Block:
A title block is usually included in the drawing, providing information such as the title, drawing number, date, scale, and the name of the drafter or designer.
Isometric Drawings:
In addition to orthographic projections, isometric drawings may be used to represent three-dimensional objects in a more realistic way.
CAD (Computer-Aided Design):
Many mechanical drawings are now created using computer-aided design (CAD) software, which allows for more precise and efficient drafting.
Tolerances:
Tolerance information is often included to specify the acceptable variations in dimensions.
Revision History:
Drawings may include a revision history to track changes and updates made to the design over time. Creating accurate and detailed mechanical drawings is crucial for manufacturing, construction, and other industries where precise specifications are essential for the fabrication of products or structures.
