alright. so, i know ive already made a post about this on my main, but im stupid and went to the original tweet and just made myself angry again.

alright, so a couple days ago i rbed a screenshot of a certain story board artist's tweet about being the one to put tcest in the show.

i dont know why or how, but i found my way onto twitter and to the original tweet that this guy made.

for context, sheldon here was a storyboard artist for Rise and the scene they are talking about here is this one from the Lair Games episode-

i partially explain again why this is horrible and disgusting and partially why i dont believe or accept sheldon's... i dont even know what to call it. his response (the top post in the first screenshot)

since i literally just rbed something about this, im just going to copy/paste my rb and add onto it a little.

" no but when i found out that some of the artists who originally worked on Rise were t-cesters and proshippers i was actually so fucking pissed off.

there are part of this community that are actually god damn disgusting, and im not afriad to say that tcest is fucking rancid and if you support it i dont want you near the content that i create.

first of all, it is literally incest. it says so right in the name. which, i really hope i dont have to explain why incest is bas in the ripe year of 2022. I don't care that they arent "blood-related". They were fucking raised as brothers, treated like brothers, and think of each other as brothers. No matter how hard you try to spin it, no matter how hard you argue that they arent technically related, you have to understand that they see and think of each other as brothers, which should be enough to make this incest.

this show was amazing when it came to family dynamics and brotherly love/trust/bonds. i can say with confidence that the brothers in Rise are much more brotherly/closer than any other previous versions. it's obvious to see that they love and care and want to protect one another. to turn platonic and love for one's family into something so gross and vile is taking all of the healthy emotional bonds between these characters and throwing it out the window.

i cant fuckung believe i have to say this every time i come back into the tmnt fandom, but-

THEY ARE MINORS.

sure, with the recent Rise movie we saw an adult leo, but heres the thing- that version of leo is fucking dead. he literally got fucking beamed out of existence.

the fact that every one of these brothers are under the age of 18 and i still see so much nsfw art is absolutely horrid.

finally, it's a kid's show. sure, many of us in the community are teens, later teens, and grown adults, but that does not change that this show was originally created to bring the tmnt franchise into yet another generation of kids. again, i sincerely hope that i dont need to explain why implying incest in kids shows (or really any TVs shows, for that matter) is morally wrong and vile.

literally yesterday me and some of my mutuals had to go through a lot of our content to re-tag a whole bunch of our posts tagged with "tcest dni" because tumblr's tagging system is actual shit. there shouldnt even be a tcest community, outside of it impeding on the rest of us Rise fans.

sorry this is such a long post but im so tired of seeing / hearing about tcest. its gross, disgusting, icky, etc etc. it is 6:30 am and i woke up and saw this and decided to fucking say something, because tcest has actively made my experience coming back into the tmnt community and fandom worse. "

and i still stand by that. seeing so much tcest- and from the artists on the rise crew, no less- is making my journy back into the tmnt fandom so, so much worse. it is actively hurting a lot of people- which brings me to one specific tweet from this thread.

so, to start- i do not, i repeat- DO NOT condone or promote sending death threats to people or telling them to kill themselves.

ok. so as you can see in the original screenshot, you can see that sheldon is passing this off as a joke. but i honestly cannot believe him when he says this.

why, i hear you asking. well,

look at the time stamp. 2020, nearly three years ago now, when the Lair Games episode had just come out.

why didn't he say it was a joke three years ago, when he first posted the storyboard clip? because he isnt fucking joking. either that or he is just really so fucking dense that he doesn't realize that what he's doing is not funny in any way, shape or form.

which brings me to my next point.

even if it is all just a joke,

why the fuck are you joking about minors participating in fucking incest?

its fucking nasty even if it is a joke. i genuinely shouldnt need to say anymore on why this is fucking horrid.

i did credit you for the edits on the bottom of the gif, but the "tumblr" part of "wataru edits by katsuhiras on tumblr" got covered up by the pixmix logo and i put a "tumblr" over it in tenor but... the whole thing could be a little hard to read for people with varying levels of eyesight

so, i can delete the gif if you deem it against your terms of service regarding editing your icons further, or even if you think the gif is an affront to god for being so harsh on the eyes... i got an out of nowhere headache after making it so maybe i shouldnt have... i love how it came out though, true art! makes me feel things!

Making a gif like this does technically go against the "don't edit the edits I've made" rule but I'm gonna give you special permission on this one specifically because it's such an affront to god, which is something we at katsuhiras dot gov are very supportive of. I think you created an extremely gay The Ring and in seven days a neon clown will appear in my home

I need something to listen to while I file things at work but I’m bad at predicting what I’ll like because it feels like nothing I’m into has any Google-able overlap. First of all you are absolutely correct. I had completely forgotten that Gansey quote but it really does summarise where recommendations fail so well.

My first thought was oh what do I like with similar themes or in the same category? But fuck that I'm just gonna tell you my favourites and a little about them and you can pick what interests you.

1. My FAVOURITE book is The Goldfinch. I only read it this year but it absolutely destroyed my brain and I havent recovered.

Basic summary: 13 year old Theo Decker survives a terrorist attack at an art gallery but loses his mother and in his shock accidentally takes home famous painting: The Goldfinch. First half of the story is him as a teen, second half is as an adult. Theres a lot of themes like drug abuse, internalized homophobia, PTSD and suicide. It's a great book if you love analyzing the fuck out of books. He also develops a mildly codependent (and very gay) friendship with another boy who later becomes a gangster.

It is very different to NHIE and TRC in that it's a lot more....negative? Like the plot resolves itself but you will not be satisfied by the ending. The characters are all very flawed, which I suppose is similar to characters like Adam and Devi but in different ways.

2. Six of Crows- have you read this? If you havent it's like a mandatory read. Its technically a sequel to Shadow and Bone but I read it first and it was fine.

Summary- 6 rag tag teens team up in a dangerous fantasy world to take on the heist of the century.

It's so good man. When I tell you Kaz Brekker is my favourite character of all time I am not joking. Also bonus points for a disabled main character as written by a disabled author. It's very found family with a lot of plot twists and lovable characters.

3. All for the game- this one is here because I love it but objectively I know it's an acquired taste with questionable writing.

All 3 of these so far show my love of a sneaky protagonist with an allergy to telling people about themselves. These books are absolutely bizarre and shouldnt work but they do!

Basic summary: Neil Josten has spent his life on the life from his mobster father after he and his mother escaped him. His mom just died and rather than keep hiding he allows himself to take the opportunity of a lifetime to go to college and play Exy (made up sport) for a team that specializes in taking those who have had rough lives and usually would be picked (e.g drug addicts, foster kids etc)

It's a surprisingly wonderful series about mental health, occasional murder and one of the best love stories I've read. This one is also really popular with ao3 so if you're after something that will give you a lot of wonderful ff this is the best one so far.

(There are a number of trigger warnings for this book I would recommend you look up beforehand.)

Bonus rec: Vicious by V.E Scwab. I need to go into work now but basically told from the supervillains perspective, but honestly I'm on his side anyway. Victor just got out of prison and has the ability to control pain. So he can either inflict pain or say hire henchmen that he pays by curing their chronic pain. (As someone with chronic pain I cant blame them tbh)

he also adopts this kid who can resurrect the dead and it's a great little supervillain found family. I havent read it in ages but there is a sequel I need to read and from what I remember it was very good.

Unfortunately i dont have any of my writing available online just yet, but i do have an Owen tag which i use for any art, information, or silly posts i think relate to his character :)

I'll answer the rest under the cut!

As for Owen himself (and the rest of the characters in the quiz) he is part of a wider universe I've been building for some years now! Owen represents one of the six Fragments required to restore the Old Dragon Order, which is an ancient counsel of Dragons who oversaw the magical properties of their world.

When the current King hunted down the Dragons to extinction, the Dragon Order decided they would send out their souls to be born again in a different world, so that the magic wouldn't be lost. That's "our" world (or at least, in my story its the equiv representation of our real life world). Each Dragon's domain represents a different magic, and Owen inhereted Destruction Magic, which manifests as Pyromancy!!

As most of the main characters grew up in a world that technically shouldnt have magic, they often faced hardships because of their differences. Owen is no exception to this, and as a child his fire abilities got him in more trouble than he could often get out of. Without spoiling too much, it's basically why his father hates him and his quality of life is very poor.

Peronality-wise, he comes across as timid and non-confrontational in day-to-day life, hating his power for what it's done to those he loves. But before the start of the story, (when he is transported to the world the Dragons are from) he has a very rich night life!! He enjoys sneaking out and losing himself in the bustling night life of clubs and parties. Being in a room full of people but where no one knows his name or face is calming to him.

The 10 Games You Shouldn’t Miss in 2020

With releases like Cyberpunk 2077, Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon, and Doom Eternal, 2020 will be a solid year to end this console generation.

New year, a new list of game releases to look forward to. With 2020 being the last year that the PS4 and Xbox One are the industry leaders, the games that release in the coming months will push each system to its full potential. Heck, some of these games may possibly be the best we’ve seen since this console generation started in 2013. As such, here’s a brief list of games you should not miss when they launch this year. That is if we don’t see any delays…

Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon

If there is one thing the DualShockers staff learned during our game of the year deliberations for 2019, it is to not sleep on Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Yes, the makers of Judgment, our surprise game of the year winner for 2019, is making the next iteration of its popular Yakuza franchise: Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon.

However, unlike past Yakuza games, this will not feature the action-adventure gameplay you’ve become accustomed to since the first entry launched back in 2005. Instead, it completely deviates from its action-heavy roots, featuring turn-based mechanics. It will also star a new protagonist, Kasuga Ichiban, rather than Kazuma Kiryu. If you haven’t played any of the previous Yakuza entries, Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon may be a perfect introduction since it is seemingly wholly different than its predecessors.

Granblue Fantasy Versus

If you’ve followed my ramblings on DualShockers, you will know I am a fighting game nerd. Mortal Kombat 11, Samurai Shodown, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Tekken 7 are among my favorite games of the generation. So, it makes sense I would add Granblue Fantasy Versus to this list.

It’s hard not to be excited about a new Arc System Works fighting game. Between Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle, Guilty Gear Xrd, and Dragon Ball FighterZ, the Japan-based developer have put out some bangers in the fighting genre. With its 2.5D animation, at the very least, it will be a gorgeous game as you get stomped during all those online matches. I’m not speaking from personal experience. Not at all…

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Okay, this wouldn’t be a DualShockers list without a Square Enix RPG. So, I present to you Final Fantasy VII Remake.

To be quite frank, the game speaks for itself. Final Fantasy VII Remake is a retelling of one of the most beloved and influential games of all time. However, rather than the turn-based gameplay of the original, this remake will be much more action-oriented. This will allow you to control Cloud Strife and his fellow rebels more deliberately. Along with its gorgeous visuals, this will surely be one of the biggest titles in 2020.

This first release will not cover the game in its entirety. Yes, there will be multiple parts to Final Fantasy VII Remake. Where this first entry will leave off is still unknown. However, if I were a betting man, I would say it ends when you escape Midgar. (Sorry to spoil a game that is over 20 years old.)

Doom Eternal

Remember when I said this wouldn’t be a DualShockers list if it didn’t include a Square Enix RPG? Well, it also wouldn’t be a DualShockers list if a new Doom game was not on the list. There is an unusual amount of love for the first-person shooter at DualShockers. By ‘unusual,’ I mean totally warranted since Doom (2016) is arguably one of the best games this generation and the Doom franchise is the most influential shooter ever created. This is not bias. This is a fact.

Joking aside, Doom (2016) is a technical marvel. It is such a brilliant showcase with great graphics and frenetic gameplay that rarely hitches, even on consoles. Along with its killer soundtrack, it is one of the best shooters of this console generation. A follow-up to that game is incredibly exciting. Also, who doesn’t want to slay demons to the sweet sounds of Mick Gordon’s rippin’ and tearin’ metal riffs?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

On the same day the demon-slaying first-person shooter Doom Eternal releases, Nintendo Switch players may opt to commit to an entirely different hell. I’m talking about forkin’ over that cash to Tom Nook in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Nintendo’s Animal Crossing series may not be on the same mainstream popularity level as the Super Mario or The Legend of Zelda franchises. Still, it is immensely popular among Nintendo players. Perhaps it’s because it allows the player to escape from their real-life woes by living a second, more carefree life. Maybe it’s just because they like interacting with cute animals, even if that means having to pay a massive debt to a raccoon. With Animal Crossing: New Horizons being the newest mainline entry since New Leaf (let’s not count the mobile version), along with some cool new features, Doom Guy may have finally found his match.

Dying Light 2

This is actually the game I think people are going to sleep on, and regret not picking it sooner once they play it in 2021. Out of any game on this list — maybe except for Cyberpunk 2077 — Dying Light 2 has to be the most ambitious game on this list.

I liked Dying Light, but it didn’t really leave a lasting impact on me. Just from the footage I saw at E3 2018, I am still excited to see how Techland’s newest zombie adventure pans out. Games have had branching paths before, but Dying Light 2 seems to be taking this to the extreme. From the looks of it, depending on the outcome any given quest can change the world significantly. Not just from the look, but how these last remaining groups of survivors interact with one another. It really does look incredible.

Axiom Verge 2

The first Axiom Verge was such an awesome surprise when it launched back in 2015. Even within a crowded genre, developer Thomas Happ not only managed to make a great “Metroidvania,” he arguably made the best one released this generation. It’s H.R. Giger inspired art, fun gameplay, and exciting sci-fi world made Axiom Verge so much fun to play.

With a sequel now slated for this year, this is definitely a game to look forward to. Axiom Verge 2 was revealed during Nintendo’s Indie World showcase with a new trailer. Deviating from its 8-bit inspired art style in the first, the sequel will have a much brighter look and a completely different pixelated art style that still impresses. Ghost of Tsushima

The last time we saw a proper game from Sucker Punch was in 2014 when the studio launched inFAMOUS: Second Son for the PS4. Depending on who you talk to, it was either a solid showcase for the PS4 at the time or not the studio’s best work. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be excited about their next game: Ghost of Tsushima.

This is the first time Sucker Punch will be working on a new IP since inFAMOUS launched back in 2009. While there isn’t much known about the upcoming game, Ghost of Tsushima looks incredible. Just look at that trailer above. It is unreal that those visuals will be coming from a PS4. The same way The Last of Us was sort of the pinnacle of PS3 titles, I think Ghost of Tsushima will be that for the PS4.

Look, beggars can’t be choosers. The much-demanded follow-up to EA’s Skate franchise doesn’t seem to be skating its way to consoles any time soon, if at all. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t great alternatives to the beloved skateboarding simulator. That is where Session comes in.

Developed by Creature Studios (stylized as creā-ture Studios), Session really embraces its simulation gameplay. While Skate is more approachable, with a control scheme that takes about 30 minutes to get comfortable with, Session can be incredibly challenging to play. However, that doesn’t make it bad, by any means. From the few hours I’ve played, every moment is a learning experience. The real-life grind of skating a single spot for hours to hit a line perfectly is exceptionally exemplified, which will either entice or scare people. As someone who used to skate regularly, this is what I’ve been looking for.

Cyberpunk 2077

Last, but certainly not least, we have Cyberpunk 2077. Developed CD Projekt Red, the Polish studio’s newest adventure looks unbelievable. In many ways, this is the game I’ve been waiting for since I first watched Blade Runner. Dingy dystopian setting? Check. A protagonist with a cool jacket? Check. Androids? Also, check. And that is really all you need to intrigue me.

Cyberpunk 2077 seems so vast. And if it’s any larger than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it will be almost intimidating for me to even start. That being said, this game is going to be a spectacle and something I cannot possibly miss. If Cyberpunk 2077 can maintain the quality the studio is now known for, it will be a solid “swan song” for this current console generation.

Of course, these are just a few games you may not want to miss in 2020. Essentially, once March begins, we are going to be bombarded with a ridiculous amount of potentially quality titles.
